Survival is the name of the game. Something is coming.
There’s a culmination of events all shooting toward each other and Cady can feel it. She can sense the change.
Not of the virus… not of impending death or riots – although, why not? No, Cady knows that something even worse is coming but she can’t put her finger on it.
As she and Scott try to save Beth and return to the homestead, her mother works her way back to her family.
And Jackson… He’s almost there. He’s so close. Is that what Cady senses? Does she know her time is almost up?
What happens when all the bad implodes on each other? Can anything survive this path of destruction?
One event happens in the story then book, another huge event. I wish these books were longer instead of being divided into serial novellas. Cady believes she has survived, but is that enough when she is not by constant death and turmoil at every turn. Bailey is being forced to grow up fast and protect her family against the virus infected people. Scott is improving, but more death is right around the corner. Jackson continues his delusional fantasies as he reaches his heart's desire. Loved the story line, great characters, but do hate the bnooks are so short. I finished it in one quick sitting and now must wait almost a month to see how the characters handle all the death thrown their way. Will Beth blame Cady, what will Scott decide? Will Martha make it to Cady and Bailey. Please make these longer!!!
Having read dystopian / fiction and Science Fiction for approx 50 years, I cannot believe I read this series. An optimist I guess, kept hoping one of the characters would grow a spine or engage their brain. Preppers not so much, wandering around a bio-war landscape without weapons, safety gear or thought. Really, they all deserved to die in the first book most gruesomely, just to save the readers. I had to give them an honest read to give an honest review. However, just don’t, unless you love wallowing in guilt, insecurity, indecision, and just over arching ineptitude. Not just from the main character, but all of them. Can’t believe I gave up 2 days on this drivel. Not even going to look at anything else this author writes. The Black Tide Rising series is still the best bio-terror series ever, go there read that!
Fantastic, well written characters and a fascinating, terrifying plot. A must read series where the survivors of a virus, created by one man, are doing their best to cope with a new reality. I absolutely love this series.
I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
