Mixed

Mixed is a full-length standalone novel in the Recipe for Love Series.
What happens when you “mix” together sexy chef, Logan Wheeler, and bartender, Libby Barnes?

I read one of those cute decorative signs at a truck stop gift shop on my way from Nashville to New York. It took everything in me not to laugh my ass off right next to the beef jerky and air fresheners. I was also tempted to buy both for two reasons. Number one, I’m pregnant, and number two, I’m pregnant.
Every once in a while,
in the middle of an ordinary life,
Love gives you a Fairytale.
What a crock. There are no such things as fairytales. Besides, what’s ordinary anyway? I’d be happy with a roof over my head, a steady paycheck, helping my sister mend her broken heart, and not screwing up as a parent. Anything after that would just be frosting. Yum, frosting. Damn cravings.
OK, OK, maybe I should have re-read the first line.
Every once in a while,
Because my ordinary life became extraordinary, the second Logan Wheeler crashed my doctor’s appointment and held my hand when I heard my baby’s heartbeat for the first time. I wasn’t looking for a baby daddy. I guess that’s when you usually find things.
Now I’m just hoping for Happily Ever After.
***********

I’m Libby Barnes, and I can tell you one thing for sure, I wasn’t looking for a man when I moved to New York. In fact, I was trying to get away from one, my “baby daddy.” God, I hated that term. I probably should have just told Edward we were over and that I was leaving. Oh yeah, I should have told him I was knocked up too. You know what they say about hindsight? Well, she’s a real bitch.

My broken-hearted sister, Emily, needed me and I needed a fresh start. So I showed up unannounced on her doorstep with the universal cure-all, aka Ben and Jerry’s and my growing bundle of joy, hidden under my clothes.

My only real plan was to be the good sister my twin deserved and to be a mom my kid could be proud of. I certainly didn’t need anyone to help me with either of those goals. The only thing I did need was a job. I sure as hell wasn't expecting to hear the words “you’re hired” when my sister suggested we eat out at one of the swankiest restaurants in the city. But then again, I wasn’t expecting to have to show the bartender how to make a Manhattan either. My entire body shouldn’t have tingled as I followed the gravelly voice of the man who said those two simple words and it shouldn’t have made my panties wet. I’d had to remind myself to close my mouth as he’d stood before me with a smirk, his sexy black chef's coat, and my personal kryptonite, tattoos on his arms.

Logan Wheelers wasn’t part of my plan. But you know what they say about the best-laid plans. Who am I kidding? I’ve always been a fly by the seat of my pants type of girl.

*********

I’m Logan Wheeler. I had everything I needed in life. OK, maybe that’s not true. I needed a bartender for my restaurant. ASAP. I guess that’s why I wasn’t surprised when I was told I needed to get out to the bar to see what was going on. I wasn’t expecting what I found at all. She looked exactly like her twin, only better. Her rack was amazing but even better than that was the way she looked behind the bar. My bar. It was where she belonged. Behind it. On top of it. Underneath it. Hell, I didn’t care where. As long as I had her.

I live my life by one motto, no regrets. I’d already had enough of those for one lifetime and the first time I saw her I knew not going for Libby would be the greatest regret of my life.

I never thought that I would write a novel, although my English teacher my freshman year in college told me that he would hunt me down if I wasn’t published by the time I was thirty. Thirty came and went. I was busy being a wife and working mother of two and nobody came looking for me.

I doubt my sister thought she was about to change my life forever when she got me a book of “Mommy porn” for my birthday in 2012, but that’s exactly what she did. After reading the first book in the trilogy, I rushed out and got the other two books. I became obsessed and read the series several times before learning about Fanficiton. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t get enough. The idea fascinated me and I thought, “I can do that.” I was a nervous wreck when I posted my first story, a one shot about my new favorite couple. One story lead to another and then another. My readers encouraged me to write something original, so that‘s what I did. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me. I couldn’t have done it without you.

I love reading, writing, traveling, and spending time with my family.

Thank you for going on this journey with me.

This is the story of Libby. She arrives at her twin Emily’s home, pregnant and unsure what her next step will be. On a girls night out Libby shows off her fabulous cocktail making skills, in the process impressing chef/part owner Logan, getting herself a job.
The attraction between the two sizzles. Logan adores Libby, pregnant by other man and all.
This is a well written book and part of a series by Lane Martin. Unfortunately it just wasn’t for me. I found it to jump from character to character and a little confusing. Maybe that’s because I haven’t read the other books.

Have you read A Recipe for Love Series??? It is a really cute series that deals with struggles, romance, challenges of life and food. Some of the food sounds out of this world. Like I want to climb within the book and eat it all up. Oh and grab Logan for my own while I am at it.

The author has taken the previous books in the series and mixed them all together creating a beautifully blended story of love. She has taken two lost souls, Logan and Libby, and created something amazing.

Libby has fled to New York, leaving Nashville in the rearview mirror of a greyhound bus. She has convinced herself that her sole purpose is too help mend her sister's broken heart. Declan has disappeared leaving Emily everything. He has also said he will be back. Time will tell.

Life gets turned around for Libby when they head to Swayed. The bartender is a flake. Libby steps behind the bar and her future has a new direction. Logan hires her on the spot. He has finally found someone that can mix a drink. He has found so much more.

Get ready for a romance ride that will leave you with a huge smile. So many people find their happily ever after in this book that I will be in a love coma for days.

I really loved Mixed it would be my favorite in the series you can read as a standalone but there might be major spoilers because this takes place right after Floured we get to see what was going on then the first half of what was going on in Sifted . Libby is the sister of the heroine from the first book while Logan is the best friend of the hero , these two really clicked from the first meeting but both hold back until it reaches a boiling point with a really steamy sex scene . When we find out the heroes past my heart hurt for him and then when the heroine messy past with boyfriends they are just what the other need . It also made me want to see more of the secondary characters stories because they definitely have a lot to say .

4.5 Stars!

Lane Martin was brand new to me when I signed up for this book and while I really, really enjoyed it y'all, I'm so glad I got to read this fun, sexy, and quite emotional at time series in it's right order because holy wow that's the only way to go with these characters and their journeys.

Lane has delivered quite the sweet and amazing romance in Mixed that will have you rooting for love, blushing furiously, swooning, shedding a few of those pesky tears, and hoping for that one perfect blended cocktail.

One moment is going to change everything... Libby and Logan might not be looking for a happy ending or even love honestly but that's the thing with life... it gives you exactly what you need, when you need it, even if you don't realize it. And with their undeniable chemistry, great banter, and sizzling connection, their journey was completely unforgettable in every single way.

My big recommendation from this series is to definitely read them in order... while it's totally not necessary, it'll further your love for these characters.

I highly recommend this book.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

This is the first book for me by Ms. Martin and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Libby and Logan have a fast-paced romance that was all the best of a romance with dual points of view and great “extras” that kept me reading well past my bedtime.

This story was fun to read and pulled on my heartstrings more than a few times. The love Logan had for Libby was instant and I was so glad she didn’t fight it like so many other romance heroines do. Libby was determined to be the best mom she could be, but leaned on Logan for support. I liked that it wasn’t this back and forth game of whether or not they liked each other.

I didn't like that Libby kept going behind Logan’s back, but I appreciated her desire to better her life for herself and her daughter….and let me just tell you that the end kicked me in the pants! I loved it!

If you are looking for a fun fast read look no farther. Mixed was definitely a fun book full of lots of excitement and laughs as well as some drama. Until this book, Lane Martin was a new author to me but now I will be heading over to one click the rest of the books in this series.

This was a awesome book and I couldn't put it down. The one thing that stopped me from giving it a 5 was the way it jumped ahead in a few spots that made me wish the author would have taken the time to add in those scenes instead of tell me about them after the fact.

Logan and Libby have so much chemistry and that made for some pretty steamy moments. The relationship Libby has with her twin sister is also incredible and I loved Emily so much that I can not wait to grab her story.

I loved that the book was written from dual points of view so that I was able to get the story from both characters. A must read book for sure. - Alisa

This was my first book by this author and I will be honest Im kind of on the fence about it. Yes the storyline in itself was decent. It was the flow of it that made me have some trouble getting into it. There were moments that things just seemed rushed. And then there were moments that there just wasn't that much detail in a scene, that I had to read it a couple times just to make sure I was following it. In no way am I saying that I will not read this authors work again, I'm just saying that this particular book was just not really 100% for me.

This was a awesome book that has you want to read more. I couldn't put the book down it was a definite page turner leaving you wanting more. This was a book about love and family. I absolutely LOVED this book! Literally couldn't put it down from the second I started to read it. I was sucked right into it and felt like I was living everything right along with them. I was sad to get to the end of the book, even though I know all books must end, I really wished that this one didn't! I definetly plan to go back and read some of the other books in this series for sure now! I highly recommend this book! DEF 5 STAR READ IN MY OPINION!

Loved the story line and the characters. Logan, loves hard. Loved how he just took control and took everything in stride. Liddy, was sassy and comical. I do wishes I'd of read the previous two books though to maybe follow the other characters though. as there were quite a few to try and keep up with.

Great book.

I haven't read the author before but I'm definitely going to look up some more of her books.
Libby just found out she's pregnant and has left her loser ex to go see her sister.
Logan is a restaurant owner/chef who doesn't think he deserves love.

This was a cute, feel-good HEA. There were many characters that, had I read the first 2 in the series, I may have known more about. But because I didn't, it was somewhat confusing. I also believe this story takes place at the same time as book 2. Well written and engaging.

This is a cute read. Logan is so dreamy. Let me tell you, if more guys were like him, the world would be a better place. Libby is a tough girl. I admire her drive and dedication to being a better person.

We all have our secrets, and it's those that wind up making or breaking this couple. It's a long journey, but definitely worth the trip.

This book totally works as a standalone novel, but all of the characters are from her previous books which are worth reading first if you have the time.
