Three brothers. Power beyond reckoning. And a terrible betrayal.

Adrian De Vere is the most powerful and charismatic politician on the planet. To many he heralds a future filled with peace and prosperity.

Jason De Vere controls a third of the world’s media through his communications empire VOX. Brilliant and tenacious, little happens in the world without him knowing.

Nick, international playboy (and archaeologist), is dying, a victim of his own recklessness. He has made a remarkable discovery he hopes may save him, but does not know how or what the cost will be.

Despite their wealth and fame, the brothers’ family history is shadowed in lies. Now, with powerful forces both sacred and diabolical at play, one will betray the others – in an almost unimaginable way …

“There could be no bigger canvas for film-making.” – Mark Ordesky (Executive Producer – Lord of the Rings)

“Alec not only re-frames pre-history; she also imaginatively illustrates how the realm of spirit impacts the contemporary material world.” Ileen Maisel (Executive Producer for the Golden Compass)

A story badly told. The characters are poorly defined. It's boring, slow and full of unnecessary detail. The story is lost in endless and meaningless descriptions. In addition, the translation of the publisher Ediciones B is pathetic. A novel that is definitely not worth the effort to finish reading.

The third in the series of the Chronicle of Brothers, this is the worst in the series. Throughout the book, there are sentences that a simple proofread could easily have caught for their awkward if not grammatical issues.

The story itself continues the tale of three mortal brothers (one of whom is the Anti-Christ) while paralleling the tale of Lucifer, Gabriel, and Michael in Heaven and Hell. While the story remains intriguing as with the previous two tales, the lack of proofreading in this one was to the point that the numbers of errors started to detract from the story itself.

If you read the previous 2 books, I recommend reading this one as well as the tale continues to be intriguing for what it is - a fictional account of the behind the scenes events in Heaven and Hell corresponding with the Bible. This tale truly moves into the fictional though as it begins to relate the days leading up to Armageddon and the years when the Anti-Christ will rule the earth. And while it is highly possible, we are in the middle of that era even now in the real world, the events here are obviously fictional at the moment, although eerily haunting in how close we are to this being what could happen. The technology that Alec describes for use by the forces of the Anti-Christ and his one-world government are very much in use today if not at the levels and purposes that Alec describes in this book. And the scenarios she relates for how everything plays out leading to a single government gaining control of the world are more plausible than not given the events in our world today. They say that life often imitates art especially when it comes to fiction eventually becoming reality in our world; I would say that Alec's vision of how the world might play out leading up to Armageddon should be enough to scare even the most ardent anti-conspiracy person.

First comes my confession that I am as addicted to this series as much as your basic heroin addict is to poppies. Then comes the warning that there is way too long a gap between the publication of the volumes, none of which are "stand alone." It is difficult to get into a new installment without re-reading the previous--which fortunately for me is no sacrifice. I wished I wouldn't have discovered this series until all seven of the promised novels were finished and I could read them straight through--but at my age I doubt if I'll live that long. I do have several criticisms, but still give this book 5-stars just because I love this series so much. (1) There is, for me, far too much detail about the government and science of Heaven and Hell. I would hope God has a better way of doing things, less like our human institutions--plus, the heavenly segments tended to interrupt earthly action that I was anxious to get back to. (Actually, I must confess I didn't really mind the detail-stuff about Hell as much and generally found the Fallen much more interesting. Satan and Co. spent a lot of time analyzing loopholes in Eternal Law in order to work their evil without invoking further Divine punishment, but I personally enjoyed those parts--others might not.) The parts of the angelic story that I do love are those involving Michael and Gabriel, and there just wasn't enough of my beloved Michael and Gabriel in this volume. If more of the angelic part of the story was about the three "brothers" and less about the heavenly bureaucrats, I would have been much happier. (2) Some details of the story were just too similar to the Omen. There was also a lot of similarity to LaHaye/Jenkins's The Rising, but that didn't bother me as much since those similarities were logical extensions of scripture. With an Apocalyptic novel there is only so much license to mess with the basic story without ruining it, so some similarity is not only expected, but required. (3) All the books alternate between several subplots and then go back and forth through time telling the character's stories as flashbacks. This can make the stories difficult to follow if you prefer a more linear narration. However, I felt Ms. Alec did a pretty good job of gradually filling in the details and left no egregious holes when all was said and done. Her style served to whet my appetite to keep reading to fill in the missing pieces. (4) This book is even less stand-alone than the previous volumes. The previous books all had a logical stopping point, but this book left me banging my head against the wall and screaming "aaargh" since I will have to wait for seemingly forever to get my next fix.

Awesome book. The experience makes me want to read A Pale Horse immediately. The theology of it all however is contestable. For example, the emotions of angels seems far fetched to me: Gabriel feeling for Lucifer and having dreams thousands of years after the fall, or demons almost defeating Michael etc.

It is also quite interesting the details the book gives about the operations of Illuminati and such groups as the Bilderberg Group. And genuine documents at the end. Well researched.

This is the third book in "The Brothers" series. It is heavier on conspiracies and much darker than its predecessors. Lucifer unveils his diabolical plan to retake humanity through his progeny. Gabriel once again opposes him and his diabolical plan.

This third novel is heavier on the politics and the secret societies that Lucifer uses to bring on the New World Order and the rise of the Antichrist - The Son of Perdition. The novel focuses on the role of the Thirteen Families whose devotion to Lucifer is generational and not to be compromised. Chief among them is the DeVere family which is the center of several mysteries, deaths, and clandestine plans. The three DeVere brothers (Adrian, Jason, and Nick) will all play a role in Lucifer's diabolical plans.

The battlelines are drawn with Lucifer helped by Charsoc, the Dark Apostle/Chief High Priest of the Fallen using their human servantsLorcan De Molay, Baron Kester von Slagel, Charles Xavier Chessler and Adrian DeVere. Opposing them are the angelic beings: Gabriel, Michael, Jether, and Xacheriel and humans: Lilian DeVere, Fr. Lawrence St. Cartier, Alex Lane-Fox, Nick Devere, and Dylan Weaver. This high drama has a darker feel to it as the powers of darkness celebrate victory after victory.

I am enjoying this riveting series that adds layers of complexity with each book. Bravo!

Poor. Plenty of padding that doesn't add to the story. Not much of a story either. I had to force myself to continue ready at times and won't be bothering with other titles.

I loved the first two books so I don't know why it's taken me this long to read this one.

I felt this book had a much darker tone than the other books. I think this was because most of the book is set in our lifetime, with events and places we can immediately connect with. This gave the events a much darker and personal theme which left me feeling a lot of trepidation of what was coming (and to come). Especially considering how these events were re-written to suggest even darker plots.

Most of the story takes place on Earth so there is less time spent with the angelic/fallen. I loved seeing the ethereal side of things from the first two books, so I greatly missed that. I understood why--the events on Earth were vastly important and us not seeing them leaves us also guessing what plans are taking place.

As always I love the amount of thought Wendy Alec puts into these. So many complicated stories taking place, how they each impact the events of the present and future, and the clever way she withholds information to leave you questioning the real intent.

I also just love how these books make me think about faith. What faith and redemption mean, and if humanity can actually achieve it or if we're all just doomed to hell no matter what we do. I love these kind of books because they make you think. Even if all you're reading is one person's perspective, you might find something that challenges what you believe (or don't believe) in. And in these books in particular, which include the views of the angels and the fallen, I end up thinking about them too, rather than just the human perspective.

WOW! I am starting to wonder if Wendy Alec is a prophet of The Most High! I am SERIOUS! This book SCARED me! it is describing today! mandatory vaccines...peace treaties in the mid-east, R.F.I.D chips, people seeing U.F.Os and thinking they are godly. Mass amounts of so called Christians say they follow Christ, but actually follow Satan...without being none the wiser! This book, this third book is not fiction to me. I risk people calling me CRAZY, well, that's nothing new to me. Okay yes, the human characters are fiction, I understand that. But, as a follower of Messiah I really believe God meant for Alec to write this book to warn us about this year and the ones to come! I just started "The Pale Horse" It is continuing to for shadow today's current events. How did she know all this would take place? Wendy Alec, in all humility, I feel God was speaking through you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has great characters and as with all books taking on Armageddon - there's no shortage of action and plot. I read the Left Behind series a decade ago and this is better - faster paced, less portentious.

My favourite book ever is Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch and whilst this isn't quite the same thing, if you liked that book, then this is an excellent grown-up action-version of the same thing. A Star Wars to Pratchett's Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Better than I expected

I read this with quite low expectations and imagined I'd want to give up within a few chapters, but I finished it and quite enjoyed it.
I think the down side is that it can be a bit wordy and goes into a lot of detail about things that don't really matter in the course of the story.
It's also interesting to see what side of the rapture debate the author sides with.
I suppose if you want good biblical doctrine, this is not the book for you. But if you can read it as fiction, it will while away a few hours. It holds the tension for the next book in the series.

This was a great read. It focused more on the Brothers De Vere than on the Angelic Brothers. The only problem is that it is so poorly that even my 12-year-old caught many of the grammar and punctuation mistakes. The more mistakes I saw the more frustrating and disappointing it became. In spite of that, I thoroughly enjoyed the story and looking forward to reading the fourth book (hopefully with fewer editing mistakes).

Wonderful imagery

I thoroughly enjoyed this book there were a couple of times I had to stop because at times it seemed like a boom of fact. Her blending of the book of revelation into a modern dah scene was brilliant and her use of imagery really transported you to heaven or Hell depending on the scene. Many have attempted to write novels about the end times and most come off as unbelievable thus book is not one of them. Loved if. Can't wait to read the next one.

It was very intriguing to read how the brothers would do with the information regarding the New World Order. However, I had to skim through the conversation among the angels and their followers. I guess I'm too human to understand them. It did not manage to amuse me, except the 'the Son of Perdition' part.

Overall, it's a good read indeed. It presents the value of brotherhood, faith and loyalty.

This is getting good uses a great cliffhanger at the end. But the story itself was brilliantly handled and I can definitely feel that the tension is building up with each book. I love how the book flits between the two main protagonists Jason and Nick as well as the Angels themselves who are plotting as well. The same as the main antagonists Lucifer and Adrian who are also scheming to bring about their rule over the earth.
Can't wait to see how it will end.

Five Stars for Son of Perdition!

I rated this due to the very realistic things that are happening now. And the book of revelations. It is really gripping each page. Keeps you at the edge of your seat. Things in the book are falling into place for the final battle at Armageddon. The brothers in heaven and the brothers on earth are set in place. Book 2 is on its way!

I absolutely love this series!! I’ve read Left Behind and was always looking for something similar. If you want a easier way to look at the Bible and how Lucifer plans are unveiled to destroy us, read this! This series follows the Bible but adds fictional characters and conversations. Writtten brilliantly

I felt this book was better than it's predecessors but was disappointed to find there are at least two more books, if not three. The events of this book take place in a short period of time as we learn Adrian is the son of Satan and is fully in line with what he was created to be.

Only on rare occassions do I put aside a book without finishing it - this is one of them. Utterly boring and not well written. The editors should have altered the immensely disjointed style of writing, or not published it at all.
