Abduction, genetic modification, and a nap that crossed decades is just the start for one of the first Volunteers to enter the Citadel, thirty years late.
Addy was a lost Terran. Her ship was captured on the way to the Alliance training center, and she and the other occupants were held for experimentation.
Months of agony with her fellow humans dying under the test-to-destruction methods of the researchers ended the day that Addy was taken to the edge of her limits. A rescue operation came to save her and the other survivors, and she was sedated for the trip back to the Alliance.
Addy lay in stasis while the world she had set on its path to destruction shattered and the rescue shuttle fought for its own survival.
Thirty years later, Addy is woken to find that the world has changed, she is alone at a base, and she has the power in her cells to break the world under her feet. No pressure. Ha.
Sad to see the end of a series, but I trust that Viola has some pretty great stuff in store for 2018. I especially enjoyed this series because of the many varieties of aliens, planets, cultures, supernatural powers, etc that she comes up with. You can always be guaranteed an introduction to a new species when you open a Viola Grace book that takes place in outer space. I love that. So while I'm so happy to see her starting new series in new universes, I'm glad we'll still get to visit the Citadel every now and then with the Citadel Iratho.
The story was great with the world building and how we get some little history or outline of all the Terrans in Viola Graces ever expanding Universe. I must say I haven’t been able to read much of her Tales of the Citadel Series and her other works I am only familiar with the Champions as well as Terran Times the First Wave.
What I find lacking is the budding relationship of Addy and Rorak. We did get to read Rorak’s POV in the book but the romance part in the book fell short for me and felt like it was focus on details. I did like the part where there are interactions with other Terrans but the lack on the relationship between the couple was just not good with me.
Wow, i cried and was amazied by how much her mate worked and waited for her. And the world and the way you have placed the children into story all I can say is wow... I wished the stories were ready to read now.
I started reading this series a couple of months ago and got completely hooked. It is a brilliant set of shortish books but the worlds and characters are so wonderfully realised, they are gems. Highly recommended!
Ms. Grace is ending tales of the citadel series but beginning a new era in the lives of terrain descendants. I look forward to meeting the next human hybrids.
She was stolen and experimented on. Found by a dragon of her dreams. Wakes up after 30 years. And begins to learn to live. It’s a good story. I laughed and cried.
I like Viola Grace's writing style. The only reason I don't give her books five starts is the length. Too much money for such a short story. And yet, sigh, I keep buying them!
