Fireblood Dragon #4

Fire in His Fury

Rate this book
Just like Rapunzel from the fairy tales, dreamy, romantic Amy lives a hidden life. She's kept locked away in a tower for her own safety, with her sister as protector. Amy knows it's for her own good. If a dragon catches her scent, she'll be carried away and forced to become a drakoni's mate.

But Amy has a secret - she desperately wants to be stolen. She would love to be rescued from her life of idleness and the thought of a devoted drakoni male charging in and saving her from her boredom sounds perfect to her. Of course, she wants a romantic, loving male who will adore her.

What she gets is Rast.

He's not kind. Not romantic. Definitely not gentle. But he is utterly and completely obsessed with Amy and he'll stop at nothing to make the delicate female his.

Stupid Girl!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎧🎧🎧🎧
Romance: 💙💚🖤💜
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌍
Character development: 😳🤬😏🤓

The heroine: Amy - Amy is the younger sister of Claudia from the first book in this series. After the rift appeared and Dragons came to earth, Amy was injured and she now has a limp and chronic pain since the bone didn’t heal correctly. Claudia has always taken care of Amy and she has never had to fend for herself.

The Hero(es): Rast - one of the Drakoni (dragon shifters) that came through the rift. Rast was a Major in the Salorian army on their home world. The Salorian’s were like the upper class on their world and have the ability to control the minds of the Drakoni. They made slaves of the Dragons and Rast thinks he is bad because he joined the Salorian army by choice in order to feed his starving family. He feels responsible for his brother’s death.

The Story: Amy was safe after the first book, though she was living with her sister Claudia and Claudia’s dragon mate. In order to stay safe, Amy had to stay in the apartment and keep her scent covered by rarely bathing so other dragons don’t find out that she is an unmated female.

Amy is the classic protected romantic heroine and dreams of having a prince come rescue her and love her forever so she can live happily ever after. She goes to stupid lengths to make that happen and is surprised when her prince turns out to be a crazy and scary dragon.

I actually liked this story. Amy is a weak girl with a limp who wants and needs someone to protect her. Rast is exactly what she wanted and needs and he is overprotective and jealous to the extreme. He wants to only be with Amy and keep her to himself.

I liked seeing Amy come into her own and find her strength even if her strength is due to the fact that she has a big scary dragon at her back. I have been listening to these books out of order because I had to put them on hold on Libby, but it is working out fine. This was Dual POV and Dual Narration but told mostly from Amy’s POV. The narrators were good and I plan to read more of this series.

Romantic Amy and her dragon Rast were showcased in this instalment.

Amy who was also so naive, too sheltered and totally dependent on people around her esp her sister Claudia, started to feel alone and lonely.
The lack of outside exposure and constant protection felt suffocation and the room she almost never left beginning to feel more like her own prison cell.

So what did she do?
Our gutsy heroine tossed her panties hoping for a dragon to get a whiff of her scent and mate her.

Did it happen?
Yes, but not in a romantic way she hoped for.

Rast - our scarred hero / dragon whose character has vivid memory of his dragon life.
This provided us a lot of information about his world and it was interesting to know how their world operated.

Rast and Amy’s chemistry worked out as they balanced each other’s out.
Although I must say that the first few chapters were quite light, and Amy was a bit whiny.
Not so much happenings but boy did it have lotsa steamy sexy scenes. In that mating water box.

It was halfway through when the plot started to show and three quarters in to the story, something happened.
Something really good happened.

I was excited and anticipating lots of action with a good deal of bloodbath.
BLOOD. BATH.
Like this.

Did it happen?

Well, something happened for sure. And we heard Amy roared.

Yes, she’s got spunk but I’m not totally sold.
She did her best though and that was ok.

Lastly, there was something on the horizon, something brewing that would definitely give the next book a very interesting plot.
Someone new was introduced and I’m too keen to know him.
A new dragon tirelessly creating a lot of noise, wanting to claim his mate.
The continuation of the previous characters’ lives and etc. Too many possibilities.
So as a result, I want the next book now. As in RIGHT NOW.

5 FIERY STARS!

I think I have mentioned this is the past, but I am so thankful for my KindleUnlimited subscription because Ruby Dixon would be taking all my money otherwise. Her books are an instant 1-click for me, especially this series. I think I am more invested in this one than her Icehome and IPB series. Shocker, isn't it?

I love the new direction she is taking with this story. Ruby is still including a What has gone on before briefing, but honestly, this book should not be read as a standalone. The storylines are building from the previous book before it, and I totally recommend starting with the first book if you are going to jump into this series. I believe these books are more connected than Icehome and the IPB series - which I am loving! I am so caught up in the plot that I need to know what is going on. And that bums me out because Ruby mentions in her author's note that she will be releasing these quarterly. But have you all noticed how better these are compared her other series? I really think it is because she is taking her time with developing the story. It's obviously paying off! I am not throwing shade at her other books, 'cause I LOVE them. There's just something about these that I am addicted too.

Speaking of the author's note, Ruby wanted us to let her know which storyline we wanted her to write next. And, of course, I have a opinion. I am going to put it behind a spoiler tag so I don't spoil anyone. However, if you have read it, let me know if you agree!

Amy was our loving heroine in this installment. I have loved her from the moment she dropped her panties in the last book. Such a rebel! She is a romantic and a dreamer and I wouldn't have her any other way. I have been rooting for her since the beginning. Her sister was waaaay too protective of her, and I couldn't wait to see all that change. Of course, Ruby did something totally unexpected with her character and I adored it!

As for our dragon, it was fierce Rast. I was really hesitant about his character because, at the beginning, he really didn't seem to compliment her. He definitely isn't the prince charming type. I grew to love him as he adapted to the changes of being mated to a human. My favorite part about Rast's character - He remembers a lot more than our previous dragons. And in return, we get to piece together more of what happened before the Rift.

If you haven't started this series yet and you're a paranormal lover, you need to get your hands on these! I mean, just look at this beautiful cover!? Doesn't it draw you in? The story won't disappoint you either. :)

1.5 "Immature Useless Heroine" Stars

What a total disappointment! I was so glad to see that Amy's book was finally available. She's been living like Rapunzel in a high rise with her sister and her dragon mate. They have locked Amy away in a hot room with no fresh air in order to keep single male dragons from smelling and claiming her.

description

Unfortunately, Amy is immature, and too stupid to live. She drops her dirty panties near their home in hopes that a male dragon will smell them, follow her and rescue her from her isolation in her high rise. But more than one dragon comes for her and they fight for the right to claim her. Useless Amy faints from fear once the winner claims her. Her lack of intelligence and forethought continues to digress as the book continues.

The writer makes inconsistency errors that an editor should have caught. Amy loses her bag, but chapters later retrieves a knife from it. Rast, the dragon shifter, keeps waiting for Amy to change into her battle form as if he doesn't realize she's a human. IT MAKES NO SENSE!! Dragons can smell the difference in humans and dragons.

When Rast refuses to take Amy back home to let her sister know she is safe, she accepts it with ease. But when he refuses to go help complete strangers fight off a king dragon, she goes out of her way to convince and make him do it. Amy is a scaredy cat incapable of the simplest survivor skill and never dares to speak up to defend herself with her sister, yet she acts like a war general later in the book when they try to rescue women at a fort.

The only redeeming thing in this book was all the oral sex, and even that got boring after the 3rd event!

The first 40% of this was good and then I got bored.

I know I'm usually complaining that there isn't enough sex in the books I read, but this one went the other way. There was just too much and it was all very same same-y.

This could have been finished in half the pages and I wish Amy was less of a sefish idiot.

I will continue this series because there is promise here. I would like to hear from Azar again soon, please. And I'll put it out here again that it would be really cool to have a story from a LADY DRAGON KTHX.

DRAGONS! Yay for dragons in this book, but I was underwhelmed. The last book in this series was superb - romance, action, a villain. This book was more romance, romance, romance, a little action, and the end. Yeah, I like romance (obviously), but can't I have a villain in there too?

Amy is the female mc and she has made plans to bag herself a hot dragon man by tossing her panties along the highway to lure a suitor to rescue her from boredom. Dreams do come true - Rast, a hot dragon comes to fly her away and mate her.

The usual cultural/species clash happens because Amy doesn't speak dragon and Rast is still working on being sane, let alone trying to master spoken language. The shower scenes are funny and steamy.

I liked Rast & his possessiveness. Amy annoyed me with her me, me, me view of life.

There's a tiny conflict at the end, but I really wanted a true villain back like the last book. Here's hoping for more villains and bloodshed.

Even if I don't like such a NA characters, I liked Amy.
It could be because she acknowledged her naivete, or because she was really trying to became a better and more adult person.

She starts like a teenager making castels in the air and looking for a knight in shining armour to take her away and to stay with her looking at the clouds while holding hands!

What she gets is a crazied dragon who's possessive to the point of obsession. Furthermore, they're unable to communicate, so many of his actions are misunderstood. And not only his, but hers too!

But Amy is also very sweet natured and kind, just the perfect submissive for his aggression.

Things change when they mate and a telepathic link is formed between them allowing the the much needed communication.

Rast is the ultimate possessive alpha male, but having his mate is making him more balanced and he becomes more and more ready to understand Amy's point of view and her needs, thus mellowing his possessiveness.

Becoming his mate allows Amy to grow and to acknowledge that she was over-sheltered her whole life and to become a better person and to appreciate all that was done for her.

It is a lovely story, more centered on Amy and Rast that any external conflict, which come out only towars the end, but is quickly resolved.

I'm looking forward to other books and hope to find out more about the evil Salorians.

description

description

description

description

description

3.5 stars - I wasn't sure about the heroine in this one at first, but I really enjoyed seeing her grow into herself through the course of the story and gain her confidence in her own abilities. I also liked that we had a hero who could tell us more about where the Drakoni came from and give us a better sense of where those characters are coming from

This post apocalyptic dragon romance just didn't do it for me. The plot was mainly about Rast and Amy's romance took a long to get started and being in Amys head was excruciating. She's contradictory and immature to say the least and she assumes the wrong Dragon found her and spends 30% of the book resisting him and being totally confusing to Rast when she has no bases for this assumption. I hate obviously contrived tension like this in romance stories. I was really disappointed with Amy's character but I liked Rast and that's all I can say about this book.

I knew I won’t like it, so I’m not really disappointed, just glad that I finished it.

I didn’t like Amy (major damsel in distress syndrome) or Rast (very possessive and selfish, not in a loving, protective way).

I didn’t enjoy the story. I was hopping It’d pick up from where it was left of in the last one, but no chance there.
Instead, we get loads of sex and pussy licking. And then some more sex, cas is never too much, on top of more sex.
Talking or thinking about the “bad leg”, and complimenting and reassuring each other of their perfection.

I found this book very inconsistent and it annoyed me.
Amy mentioned that she lost her bag when she fell off the building (her “bad leg” gave up on her, no surprise there), but many chapters later, she goes to her bag, which mysteriously reappeared, and grabbed the knife, which she put in there before she run off to meet her Prince Charming *eye roll*, for, and I quote “just in case”.
Apparently, she has a magical bag.

Very pointless this book. I finally started to see a direction with this series, but it still focuses on how many times a mated couple can fuck. It lost that charm after the first book, and I’m not a fan of reading the same thing over and over again, under different names.

I have so many unanswered questions which I’ll never get an answer for.

Will they ever gonna remember everything?
There were hints that something is blocking them from remembering, if that’s the case, what is it? Is it the Salorians?
Are those their full names? If they will remember their names, will they stop being crazy?
Manage to go back?
How the rift happened?
Why it happened?
And so many more.

This is the last one for me, even if another will be published, I won’t bother.

Fire In His Fury was such a short and sexy read and I had so much fun getting back to this series and this world that Dixon has created. What I have come to love about Ruby Dixon is how diverting her books are,. You know what you get with a Ruby Dixon, but I do feel like her writing is a great palette cleanser and a fun diversion. I love how consensual her books are even with the darker themes that she has in this series. I really do like dystopian romance and there really isn’t that much of it out there in the genre, so I have been enjoying indulging in this series. I have been wanting this story for quite a while, this heroine I have been itching for so long. What we have in this story is a heroine, Amy, who has been secluded and hidden away, she suffers from a injured leg but dreams of love and mating like what her sister has. I really loved her courage to do what it took to find her own dragon, and go after her own dream and to survive. Her mate is Rast who isn’t who she imagined for her mate, but as they get through their language barrier and learn each other, there is a beautiful love that is built between them. I really loved their journey and their way to finding their own nest and future. I really was saddened for Amy at times, because she has been so protected she hasn’t been allowed to really live a life. But with Rast, we really see how they fit so well together and we see that Rast has much more memory of his past than the others and we learn more about the dragons and what is bringing them to Earth. I was really fascinated in seeing these two and how well they balanced each other out. it also gives a teaser for our next pairing and I am eager to read it soon! If you are a fan of Ruby Dixon than I definitely recommend this series and this installment (these books are best read in order).

When dragons tore through a rift in the sky they destroyed the world leaving only a relatively small population of humans alive. Now, ever human has to survive not only this harsh new world but constant attacks by dragons driven mad with rage by something in the Earth’s atmosphere. The only way to stop the madness? The dragon must find their mate. Only then will a dragon’s sanity return and their blood lust dissipate.

There aren’t enough new dragon series coming out in my opinion. Dragons don’t seem to be in fashion at the moment, which is crazy! How can dragons be unpopular? They’re magnificent and fearsome beasts and whether they make an appearance as either friend or foe, they’re awesome. So, hopefully Ruby Dixon’s Fireblood Dragons series will help put dragons back into the spotlight where they belong, especially as this series seems to just get better.

In some ways this story follows the typical damsel in distress storyline much more than the other three books in the series. We have a virgin heroine who throws herself at the mercy of a dragon, hoping that he’s her knight in shining scales and will rescue her from a life of constant protection, which is beginning to feel more like a prison. Only she doesn’t quite get the gentle, poetry reading dragon of her dreams, instead, she gets the battle scarred, possessive and ferocious Rast.

Even though Rast isn’t quite what Amy think she wants, he seems to what she needs I liked that a little bit of Rast’s forcefulness seeped into Amy and a little of Amy’s gentleness seems to rub off on Rast. They balance eachother out, and although initially I thought Amy would be the kind of heroine I dislike – weak and whiny – I was pleasantly surprised by her inner strength and her drive.

Rast also remembers a lot more about his former home than any of the former dragon heroes, who, in their madness have forgotten nearly everything about their previous life. It was interesting to see more about how their world worked and I can’t wait to find out more and see how it plays into the overall story. There seems to be something on the horizon and I will definitely be reading on to find out what.

Give this series a read if you want a red hot paranormal romance, with a story that just gets more interesting the more you read. I can’t wait to see what happens next and who out next dragon and next heroine will be.

Keeps getting better!!!

I really enjoy this series. It really gets more interesting as the series continues. In this book we finally have Amy's story. She is Claudia's sister who is from the first book. If you remember in the previous book (the 3rd book) Amy leaves her panties to be found by a dragon because she is sick of being cooped up and hidden away and wants to find her mate like her sister. And he finally finds her, but she's not sure if she's prepared for him...

in the fourth Fireblood Dragon book, Amy (the sister of Claudia, heroine in the first book) has been waiting for her own Prince...um, Dragon to come save her from sheer boredom in the After. She's tired of being a burden on her sister and her mate, and she does something quite reckless at the end of the last book. She wants her prince, but what she gets is Rast. And yes, you know damn well romance happens.

description

My crack dealer, Ms. Dixon, has done it again. I enjoyed this. I like how she continues to build on the 'verse, while giving me all the things I read a Dixon read for (possessive/protective non-human hero, a spunky heroine and some survivalist scenarios). This functions as a bridge book (between what's come before and what's obviously coming up), which is nice. If you read the earlier books, you'll enjoy seeing Amy come into her own but it's not completely necessary. Also, while I appreciated the characters, the story itself is pretty straightforward, and not alot happens until the end, so it's not exactly super exciting. Rast is pretty OTT with the possessive/jealous thing, but ultimately not in a way that is a complete turnoff, although he certainly knows how to ride that line.

That said, if you like dragon shifter romances, especially of the crackily addictive kind, I would recommend this series. I know I'll be reading the next one.

A series that keeps on giving.

I don't know why I'm still surprised to have loved it every time I finish a book from this series. I mean Hello? Dragons. And Ruby Dixon writing them, how can you not fall in love?

But I will give the reason I didn't jump on this was cause of Amy and her woe is me style that we have seen in all the previous books. I can now very happily inform you she does grow up in this book, show some character development and admit what a real useless undeserving brat she has been all this time. Cheers!

As always I loved the males. Like dude I don't even need to elaborate on this, even if you haven't read the Fireblood Dragon series you MUST have heard of Ruby's Blue Aliens and 'nuf said really. (GASP! You haven't?! What are you waiting for Armageddon?!)

There was a lot less action involved in this one compared to the last, so it was pretty Alpha possessive male romancey but hey, I don't mind. I might choke and die on the envy but mind I do not.

I gave this a lower rating because I don’t know. It just seems a little bit less than the other books.
Amy, the main character, she leaves and low-key doesn’t care that her sister who is pregnant and is probably gonna be worried about her like girl I get it, You’ve been locked up and you wanna be free

And really you weren’t really locked up, they were just trying to keep you safe. I agree they could’ve done a better job at it, but you knew why you were locked up and you just decided to leave and go off with the dragon while your sister is deep in pregnancy and put her, her mate, and her child in danger PLUS she doesn’t know where you are. She’s probably stressed out like that actually annoyed me.

And when she finally thinks of her sister then her mate, the dragon, he keeps telling her like “no I’m not gonna take you to your sister. I don’t want you to have contact with anybody else other than me, no dragons no humans. You just need me.” 😟talking bout “I forbid it”……like sir who do you think you are
And Amy put her foot down a little, but honestly not enough
I feel like that was really controlling and the main character just brushed off like “oh yeah he’s just possessive and jealous, oh well” ….. like what? Girl, he won’t even let you see your sister, YOUR FAMILY. She never really stood up to him enough
Me personally I think him not allowing you to have contact with anybody else other than him is pretty fucking weird
Like in the end he let her go see her sister ( keyword LET) and it was still fucking weird, like dude chill out

After this book, I’m going to go ahead and stop reading the series. At this point every book is a carbon copy of each other and the MC’s don’t seem to be getting better🤷🏾‍♀️

Fun 3.5 stars.
This was a very enjoyable addition to the Drakoni series, with two characters I actually grew to like a lot. Rast was such a bloke, and really funny with it. Amy had a hard time getting through to him, and it was sweet to read how she realised her fantasy of the devoted dragon-mate was actually not anywhere near as good as the real thing. It was also great to see Rast grow, change and adapt to living with humans, even if having to wear pants was the worst form of torture for him.

Well, and who couldn't love a book where the hero spends most of his time walking around naked, sporting a massive erection and lusting after the heroine? Almost made me forget how the post-apocalyptic earth they were on had gone to shit in a big way, and how hard it would be to feed and wash yourself, go to the toilet, have your period or even a common condition like asthma or diabetes, when civilisation (as we know it) had basically ended. The author pulls no punches here- it is a dirty, nasty world she has created.

Props to Ruby for another goody! Now if only you could tone down the C-word for female genitalia!

'I remember all the fairy tale movies from when I was a child. They all involved a plucky, singing heroine who fought through troublesome times to get her man. Maybe that’s my problem. I can’t really sing. Well, that, and I’m not very plucky.'

this one had the most backstory which was SO GOOD TO HAVE since most of the dragons are just wild and then mate-mate-mate . . . which is fine, it's fine, I came here for that, it's fine . . . but I do love plot. Also introduced a secondary round of new characters, which was FUN.

Ick. This is mostly directed at Amy. Don't even get me started on her. Too childish for my own liking, and the fact that she takes the time to try on a flubbing prom dress in the apocalypse, on her way to rescue an entire fort that's seemingly under siege of a mad dragon? Puhleeese. Get your head out of the clouds, girlfriend.

The whole book was pretty much that way - Amy and her childish hopes and dreams and Rast just watching from afar, scratching his head and wondering if this chick is really, truly his mate. No thanks. And speaking of mates, I think it's a bit fishy that the females are coerced into being dragon mates just because the male decides she's his destined just from smell alone. Does she not get a say? What about after they have sex? Is she brainwashed? That's pretty much what it seemed like. Just sayin'.

Either way, this book just wasn't for me. The author spent a lot of time on nothing, so I got bored quickly. Unfortunately, it never picked up. I may have liked it more had I read the three previous books in the series, but it's doubtful. With that being said, I wasn't lost or confused - the author did a good job before the book ever starts at explaining the previous installments, which I appreciated.

(mini-rant here...)

Amy is the soft and gentle idiot who is so so naïve, innocent and sweet, and her mate is the biggest brute with anger management issues, Rast. Rast steals her away, fights others, won't let her have any independence, then suddenly around 65% he shrugs and lets Amy go help humans in a crappy fort.

-Amy was TOO innocent, stupid, soft; Rast was just overbearing and angry. Their dynamic wasn't one I liked to read, and Rast wasn't a guy I could fall for, an alpha-hole in my opinion
-Amy gets a mysterious note for plot reasons, and yet they go there and Rast is no longer so protective or demanding? He lets Amy get her way in this sus/dangerous situation and lets her make all the decisions. She gets a tiny taste of leadership and she is suddenly an impressive badass??
-Just didn't buy this romance, nor the plotline and was underwhelmed with the ending and intro to this town of new people.
-Felt like a big let down after book #3

OMG this series just keeps getting better and better!! This is Amy's story and she feels like the Rapunzel of the groups since her sister has found her mate of a dragon. Well, in that "jealousy" Amy has left her panties in an open field to "call" for her mate. Enter Rast whom Amy is a little afraid of when they first meet because Rast killed another dragon which Amy thought was her true love. We find out that things are not as they seem and the two of them start to become friends. I loved this section because we get even more information about the dragons that are thrown into this post-apocalyptic United States. I can't wait to see what happens next!!

This specific video review will be included in the March 2019 wrap-up.

Every new book in this series draws me further in to the story and makes waiting for the next one harder and harder. Loved Amy and Rast and excited for more dragons!!
