Servant Leadership Roadmap is creating powerful, effective leaders one individual at a time all over the world!
Some helpful tips on how to be a better manager. I was given this as a tool to help at work, and I actually think it will in the end. There's some stuff that repeats towards the end a bit too much but overall a very positive outlook on how you can lead.
Informative and Strikingly Insightful Servant Leadership Roadmap by Cara Bramlett is informative and strikingly insightful. The author puts you on a “roadmap” with 12 leadership competencies (self-awareness, stewardship, motivation & persuasion, listening, empathy, acting with humility, culture of trust, mentoring, coaching, foresight, vision, and continuous development). The highpoint of the book is the chapter on listening – “the more you can actively engage yourself and your mind in listening, the better you will understand your team, and barriers.”
This leadership book is easy to read, packed with wisdom, and provides practical guidance that's relevant to leaders in all organizations. You will appreciate its well-written style and relatable examples that illustrate each competency making it a wonderful resource for professional development. Since Jesus Christ was the greatest example of servant leadership, I expected Him to at least get a mention in this book, but that is not the case. Still, the author focus on competencies will help you build your leadership skills.
I recommend this book to anyone wants to be a better leader, especially those in supervisory and management positions.
Author needed a better editor, a better ebook layout artist, and a better publisher. Lots of errors, flow problems, and a few outright contradictions.
But beyond that, the core messages were good. Some good insights and perspectives that I seriously wish more leaders understood and implemented in their leadership approach, and, of course, several key takeaways for my own leadership approach.
All in all, worth the read, but I had to push through the frequent errors and issues that a good editor would have sorted out before it ever went to distribution and a good publisher would have ensured were corrected before go-live.
KindleUnlimited review. Do you want to be a more efficient and effective leader? Do you want to learn skills to better lead a high performing team? Of course, most leaders do. Cara Bramlett posits that leaders need his/her team more than the team needs their leader.
After a briefly discussing leadership styles (three psychology-based, two business-minded, and six emotional), the author dives into leadership competencies. Each of the twelve core competencies starts with a quote and contains an ancillary activity with a self-awareness recap designed to reinforce each leadership skill.
What are these competencies? According to Bramlett, “Competencies consist of skills, knowledge, and abilities.” They are 1) Self-Awareness, 2) Stewardship, 3) Motivation & Persuasion, 4) Listening, 5) Empathy, 6) Acting with Humility, 7) Culture of Trust, 8) Mentoring, 9) Coaching, 10) Foresight, 11) Vision Competency, and 12) Continuous Development. Simply having a leadership position does not equate to being a successful leader.
She says the secret to become a successful leader who influences peers and coworkers is to use one’s moral compass. Effective leaders have integrity and behave ethically. Authentic leaders treat employees as partners. Successful leaders have good interpersonal skills, core values, foster trust, inspire others, accept responsibility, and lead by example. Effective team leaders eliminate barriers to ensure team success.
As a bonus, the author provides links to two free additional resources: Servant Leadership Roadmap and the Manager's Toolbox. In addition, there is another free book entitled Mental Toughness for Servant Leaders. Each digital gift will requires subscribing to the author’s mailing list.
I always look for references in Kindle books to continue research on the topic. Cara Bramlett provides five citations she used to write this short but impactful book.

Servant-leadership is extremely important in today's society. If you want people to have trust in your leadership ability, this is how. You can be in the front of the line but that doesn't mean people are following you. This book is brief but packed full of all the right information. However, you will have to skip past a bunch of self-promotion in the beginning and end. The author made all of the "bonus" content sound more sketchy than appealing.
When I came across this book, it reminded me of a previous mentor I had who described her leadership style as “servant leadership”. This book is exactly that, which shows in-depth how it is from a leader’s perspective. This is helpful as it is also how I want to be known as a leader, emphasizing the core competencies highlighted in this book. For those who are looking into getting into management in their career path, I recommend this book.
The book "Servant Leadership Roadmap" by Cara Bramlett breaks down 12 core competencies for management success. This starts with understanding that you (as the manager/ leader) need the group more than they need you. This is not an academic treatise with dense footnotes and arguments WHY these principles apply. It is accessible and an easy read for those who lack the time or inclination for more academically rigorious books.
Wow, this book is good, just in the introduction there is one part where some leaders starts "Do what I say", old school, and how much damaged created, this books has very interesting principles to follow. Also, something stuck with me in the one I quote "The coaching leaders style develops people for the future", this is good. You will find more tips like that and how to become one. Good book.
There were some good informational tidbits in this book, but it was more a book of definitions than a book of providing real world examples. It is a quick read that feels more like a leadership college paper than a book.
This book was a great read and broke down what it means to be a servant leader. I understood the writer as she made it very easy to understand the concepts of servant leadership.
I like how the servant leadership mentality breeds a culture of careful consideration between the balancing act of developing personal relationships while leaning forward to individual, group and company milestones .
This book is a good intro to Servant Leadership for those who are just learning about it. However, even though this was a short read, it felt like reading a long book about leadership. Good info, but at the same time a little dry.
Excellent read on how to implement servant leadership, especially in healthcare. Loved it and will reference it in an upcoming workshop I am doing with colleagues. Good read, practical information and powerfully defines servant leadership goals.
There are several good points in this book on leadership… It’s all laid out very easily to understand. The interpersonal skills are also quite helpful, and harken back to Dale Carnegie. Try and true methods never go out of style!
Great book for managers both new and experienced. The leadership advice here can be used in almost all leadership roles. From Supervisor to CEO and the advice is just as applicable across all the spectrum manager role types.
Lots of valuable info in this book. I liked the way it was competency based and has good examples of leadership styles. There are so many different ways to lead and this book explores some of them.
This was a good overview of servant leadership with helpful ideas and suggestions. She provided examples from her work specialty but they were easy enough to understand.
Was this book edited? Multiple grammar mistakes and sentences that didn't make sense. The content is pretty surface level and I'm not sure I learned much from it. Quick read but not worth it
“Servant Leadership Roadmap: Master the 12 Core Competencies of Management Success with Leadership Qualities and Interpersonal Skills” by Cara Bramlett is an insightful and comprehensive guide on effective leadership. The book, thorough and well-structured, covers essential competencies for successful management. I was particularly impressed by Bramlett’s clear, practical advice and relatable examples.. Her emphasis on servant leadership principles is both refreshing and empowering. I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking to enhance their leadership skills and foster a positive work environment.
I wish more “leaders” would take this approach! I find it fascinating, as individuals promote, they practice more of the authoritarian mindset than Leadership!
