This was actually a pretty good one on the topic of divorce. And it never uses the word "divorce," so it can work for lots of different situations where parents don't live together. One of the angles here is that Gracie's parents divorced when she was very young- so she doesn't really remember them living together. Gracie describes having two homes and what she does there- without discussing much of anything negative. "They said they were happy, and then they were not" is a really nice way to put why parents sometimes separate. This was overall a pretty good selection on the topic of different kinds of families, and could offer some normalcy and comfort for a child, especially one who maybe doesn't realize that not all families are like theirs. Maybe the 4-7 set?

one of the better books that I have read to Caroline to help her understand why papa doesnt live with us anymore - the other ones we have read talked about not loving each other anymore, etc - this one focused on the positives - like having 2 houses and getting to do fun things with both parents seperately.

I didn't not finish reading this book. It's about a little girl who's parents don't live together. My children don't need to have stories about the issue of divorce.
