I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I've enjoyed Ms. Wasowski's book's and this did not disappoint. What stands out for me is her strong male characters who love "love" and are very secure This theme translates through all of her stories.I

Devan is raising his son, Paxton, alone as his mother died at birth. He wants to make sure he is safe and secure because he worries that Paxton's grandparents may try to take him away from him. The grandfather is not a good person and he ignites a plan to take Paxton. He enlists the help of a private investigator to locate Paxton. The PI, Jake, accepts the job and puts a plan in motion to meet Devan and Paxton. He is able to locate them and slip into their lives.

As Jake gets to know Devan and Paxton, he develops feelings that he cannot ignore, nor can he ignore that there is more to Paxton's grandfather's past that he needs to expose. Devan is also feeling a connection but needs to make sure his son is protected. Jake and Devan can no longer deny their feelings and decide to act on them. Their relationship grows and Jake is vowing to protect his new family.

This book had a good pace and told in a dual POV from Jake and Devan. This flowed well and if you are a fan, this will not disappoint.

***SPOILERS***
If like me, you are still easing your way into m/m romance, this is a great book to start with. I went into this one completely
blind on the plot and optimistic that Mary would tell another emotional story. Well...did she ever! I may have been known to shed a tear or two while reading romance, but it usually comes near the end of a story. Mary, had me shedding tears right up front. I was hooked after that, desperately needing to see how she would ease my heartache and piece me back together.

Devan Knight is an incredible man, father, and the best friend a girl could ask for. So, when his long time best friend Carrie decides she is ready for motherhood, Devin steps up to the plate to help her conceive a child even though both Carrie and Devin are gay. Carrie is a beautiful person who has long dreamed of having a child and family of her own, but time is running out and she hasn't met Ms. Right just yet. Devan can't stand to see Carrie miss out on motherhood, and he agrees to father her child. Sadly, unfortunate events take place during the delivery leaving Devan to raise his biological child on his own after Carrie's death. It was crushing!

Needing to flee the destructive influence and hateful attitudes of Carrie's parents that Devan feels will only hurt his precious son Paxton, he takes Paxton and disappears. Years later the bigoted grandparents hire Private Investigator Jake Mercer to find their grandson, never realizing that Jake too is homosexual. Jake catches up with Devan and makes it his mission to befriend him & Paxton, hoping that he can help these desperate grandparents reunite with the grandson they've never met. What Jake didn't count on was the way his body and heart would react to the doting, sexy, singe dad with a heart of gold and a body made for worship. Jake learns that there is more to this story and Devan's decision than first meets the eye. Things are not quite as the grandparents have led him to believe, forcing Jake to re-evaluate his commitment to them and use his professional judgment to protect two people who have become very dear to him.

The story takes plenty of twists and turns, and really keeps you guessing. If you are a fan of romantic suspense, Mary has done a terrific
job writing a well balanced story that delivers on both fronts in heart pounding measure. You'll love it!

The relationship between Devan and Paxton is just beautiful! Nothing sexier than a single dad doing his absolute best to be the father every child dreams of having, while trying to make room in his heart to love again. I loved Devan's parents and how supportive
and encouraging they were. I was fascinated by how candid Devan and his father were able to discuss Devan's love life.

I also really enjoyed Jake's forthcoming attitude and sexy sense of humor. The man definitely believes in speaking his mind, and it was so attractive and refreshing. No head games here! I also loved the way that he allowed Paxton into his own heart. Swoon! Paxton is an unbelievably sweet and wonderful boy who has a bright future ahead of him under their guidance and support.

Very emotional story that felt relatable and genuine. The characters felt so real and will easily worm their way into your heart.

Congratulations Mary on another wonderful story!

This book had me hooked and emotional from the first chapter to the very last page.. This author has an extraordinary way of writing so much emotion you feel it very strongly with each character they feel so real like they could be some of your closest friends. This book is a roller coaster of emotion ups and downs at each twist and unexpected turn..
Jake and Devan, wow the chemistry between these two men is so intense and unexpected for both of them that you can feel it as they try and wade through the murky waters of their feelings and unusual circumstances around their coming together.. A life worth living is not easy but a life with love and family is worth fighting for and these two men definitely put up a fight..
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK it was a great some people are just evil, love will conquer all story that just leaves you with all the happy feelings that love is love No matter how you find it just have to hold on and fight for it ..

I feel that Mary really has out done herself with this book.
I was never a huge fan of M/M love stories, but as usual Mary told this story in such a way that I fell hard for Jake. Tall, dark and handsome plus all tatted up. He is what all book boyfriends should look like. PLUS he was a Navy seal. So that made him a real bad ass. And now he's a PI. That only made him hotter in my eyes.
Devan was equally sexy but in a different way. There is nothing sexier in my eyes then a man taking care of his child. Yes Devan is a single dad but he made parenting look real easy and that's because of how much he loves his son.
The other thing that made Devan so sexy was how he was with his best friend Carrie. He loved and protected her her whole life. Then made a huge choice by agreeing to father a child with her. She felt her whole world fell apart when she came out to her parents. Instead of accepting her they threw her out. Devan and his parents loved her through it all.....Well done Mary

This isn’t my first M/M book I read but I want to say that is the first one that I felt inside in all the shades.
I’ve loved Devan and Carrie and I’ve adored Jake Mercer!!!
The first pages made me cry with desperation and hate, the last pages made me cry with deep love and hope for a beautiful end!!!
I adore you Mary Wasowski, I love the way you write and with Run you have exceed yourself.
This love story is so intense and so hot I think all of us have to prove once in our life. The love between two friends like Devan and Carrie is what I want to experience, so is the love for rtheir child Paxton, a little boy so mature to accept his father life with a great man and Devan’s parents , ready to protect their son and nephew at all costs!!!
I am so happy that evil is always defeated in Mary’ Book and I love her more for it!!
I want to recommend Run !! It is fantastic!!

The chemistry between Devan and Jake was scorching hot. Paxton was a smart and beautiful character and Devan's parents completed my love of the book. The strong bonds between all them just made for an amazing story.

I recommend it :)

I definitely recommend this book. At points it drags with the switch of point of view between the main characters by repeating things that has happened. But still a well told story and worth it.
