An excellent short thriller, with suspense and action that get you involved quickly and keeps you there! An ex-cop, Jack, is living life with a limp after a bullet to his leg, causing his dismissal from the police force, and short temper after his wife left him years ago. Then one night she calls needing help, and after fighting with his feelings he goes to meet her. Finding out who she is in trouble with causes Jack to try to set up a way she can be free. Lots of great characters and well described scenes, a great quick look at criminals.

An Absorbing Thriller

The author has done it again, writing a well-executed, fast-paced thriller, which is set in New Orleans, where Jack Corbin, a cantankerous ex-cop can’t seem to move on with his life and is stuck in a rut after an injury on the job forces him into an early retirement but this all changes when his ex-wife calls seeking his help. The plot is filled with plenty of drama, great dialogue, multi-faceted and authentic characters, descriptive scenes and flashbacks, packed with betrayal, surprises, secrets, and revelations. And as the story moves forward, it will take a turn you will never see coming.

Another Good Read

I have read all of PT Reade's books and like the others I was not disappointed. I like to read books full of suspense and keeps you on the edge of you seat. This book is a page turner and yes, it's short but leaves you waiting for his next book. I do recommend it.
