“THE MALCONTENT

Say I have an hour:
I could sit, just stare.
I've slept and eaten, could
read or wash my hair,

play with the dog. No
phone rings, the dishes are
clean, god's in a sort
of halfassed heaven somewhere.

All's wrong with the world
is Others, who never just sit
nor stare nor, like you
and me, simply give a shit.”

“THE REASON

A friend of mine
asked me why
I spend the summer

writing. I'm almost
sure he thought
I was joking when

I said I do so
for something to read
during the winter.”

I continue to make my way through the works of Gogisgi. And I continue to ask the question, why wasn’t his work taught to me in high school and college?
