It has only been a few days since George Bailey and his building and loan faced ruin. Thanks to the generosity of many friends however, disaster has been avoided. Yet as 1946 dawns, an uneasy feeling plagues George. Something tells him that the ruthless Henry F. Potter is still plotting to destroy him once and for all. George's fears are confirmed with the arrival of state bank examiner, Mark Jerome who immediately launches an investigation. Fresh Snow on Bedford Falls tells the compelling story of what becomes of George Bailey's wonderful life as a result of a determined stranger and the string of shocking revelations he discovers.
American novelist G. L. Gooding is the author of five novels that have warmed the hearts of audiences around the globe.
Met with glowing industry reviews, Fresh Snow on Bedford Falls is the award-winning historical mystery that picks up where the classic film It’s a Wonderful Life ends. Available in paperback, e-book, and a separate large-print edition, the novel is now available as an incredible audiobook narrated by industry legend George Guidall. Fresh Snow on Bedford Falls shares new layers of suspense, history, revelation, and redemption as a determined bank examiner pursues the truth about George Bailey, Mr. Potter, and the money that Uncle Billy failed to deposit that fateful day.
Gooding's second book Yellum shines the spotlight on the challenging life of a special donkey with a divine purpose. Lost and alone in the world, the orphaned beast of burden must overcome hardships and disillusionment before he ultimately discovers that every single creature on Earth matters--especially him--the donkey chosen to carry the pregnant Mary to Bethlehem for the birth of the Christ Child.
His third book Murder in Minnesota launches the Wandering Woodie Mystery series about a young veteran who returns home from the Vietnam War in the early 1970s and strikes out on a cross-country adventure with his friends, driving a recently restored 1946 Ford Woodie that pulls a teardrop trailer behind. When the vintage vehicle breaks down in Minnesota, mystery and mayhem begin as the friends discover how a string of local murders are linked to the area’s tragic past.
Gooding's tribute to his mother's courageous life is chronicled in the novels Where Courage Began and Road to Resilience. These novels recount the stories of family and friendship and shed light on depression-era communities in rural America.
Gooding and his wife, Sarah, live in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Gooding is at work on the next adventure in his Wandering Woodie Mystery series as well as the next chapter of historical series Velma's Story.
Fresh Snow On Bedford Falls: Second Chances is a quest to address the $8,000 missing at the Bedford Building and Loan Institution, a loose end never resolved in the classic film It's a wonderful Life. Goodings' book carries forward the characters in the classic film and very colorfully paints a picture of pain, suffering, mystery, and repentence in Bedford Falls, and also in as far off as England, a setting that allows for a new thread to the original story. The story has elements of power, control, character assasination, commitment, and human endurance, all of which fold together to make for a riveting read that defies the expected. It is no cookie-cutter story and will have you thinking twice about how things will end.
Character development is one of Goodings fortays. My favorite example of this is how he dallies with nuances of humanity to allow for business tycoon Henry Porter, a staunchly two-dimentional character in the film, to grow and shift into a man fully-fleshed out, a man rife with internal conflict and a complex take on life. I found he sometimes had too many threads dangling and had some trouble weaving them together without pulling me out of the story to piece things together. In spite of that the threads were brilliant and eventually came together very well.
It’s a Wonderful Life is a beloved movie from my childhood as it is a favorite of my mother’s. This novel picks up from the day after the miracle of Christmas Eve for George Bailey. A bank examiner comes to Bedford Falls to solve the mystery of the missing money. As the investigation continues the examiner is solving more than the case of the missing money, but of a missing family that was separated many years before. As discoveries are shared can George Bailey’s and Henry Potter’s hearts change enough to accept their pasts and welcome new beginnings?
This a was heartwarming story told be another author of what happens next to George Bailey. The author did a great job of staying authentic to the characters portrayed in the movie and where their journey continued to take them. I was lead into a world where I could imagine and see the characters on the screen.
We watch "It's a Wonderful Life" every Christmas. It was a pleasure to see how Garry further developed the story. I was already recommending this book before I even finished reading it!
I wanted to like this. It started well. It had some really interesting moments. But there there was all of this convoluted stuff that made me confused and made my mind wander. I gave up not even 40% through.
If you are a fan of the movie “It’s a wonderful life” you will most likely love this book. Many of the much loved characters from the film are in this book. Without revealing too much, I think author did a great job weaving the film into a followup book. It was not what I thought it would be, but I’m glad it was what it was.
“It’s a Wonderful Life,” is my favorite holiday movie. It was wonderful to spend time with the characters again. Well written and thought out. Loved it!
