Katrin knows little about her origins, but whatever she is, it's certainly not human.

On an island where humans have banned magic and hunt all who possess it, the dark power within her has become too strong to hide. With each passing day, the threat grows. For if she cannot master her terrifying abilities soon, everyone around her will suffer. And that's something she cannot accept.

While Katrin is willing to sacrifice herself to save others, Peter, her childhood friend and protector, is not. But when he promises to save her at all costs, jeopardizing his own kingdom in return, he finds that his failure will mean either Katrin’s death or the isle’s doom.

And if unraveling the source of Katrin’s power isn’t difficult enough, a mysterious and powerful stranger from the forest reveals that he has plans of his own for Katrin…and the rest of the isle.

To protect their home, Katrin and Peter must face not only their worst fears about who and what they are but their true feelings for one another as well. For if they don't, everything they love will perish...

The Autumn Fairy is the first book in The Autumn Fairy Trilogy, where fairies, humans, and legends collide. Buy The Autumn Fairy today to Peter and Katy through their journey as they search for truth among ancient lies, hope in the darkness, and their own happy ending.

First of all, that cover, y'all!!! Thank you to the amazing cover artist for sharing this with the world. Kay, on to the actual review. This is the first book in Brittany Fitcher's Autumn Fairy Trilogy, and my second book by the author. I first found her through the Entwined Tales and An Unnatural Beanstalk: A Retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk was one of my favorites in the series.

What drew me into Mrs. Fitcher's An Unnatural Beanstalk was her unique take on the tale and her characters. In the Autumn Fairy, Peter and Katy truly stole my heart. Even the supporting characters made me smile and yell and cry. I loved the group of knights once I got them all sorted out in my head. I loved the palace staff and the king. I wish we could have gone deeper into some of the king's thoughts and processes because he puzzled me sometimes. Lady Saraid was a fun character and I thought she was very well done. The villagers were well done and I would love nothing more than a prequel just so I could see Sir Christopher in action! The firin and Emma were both endearing, but in completely different ways. As amazing as the secondary characters were, Peter and Katy were the shining stars here for me. They were both complex and well-rounded with solidly written personalities. I relished the history of their relationship as childhood friends and every mention of it made my heart soar. (Again, prequel would be sooo well-received by this gal!) I liked that their relationship as adults was so strongly founded on who they knew the other to be, but at the same time, they realistically felt a little bit like strangers after so many years. They had to form a new bond as adults instead of blindly relying solely on their past. I loved the unwavering trust they held in each other and the self-sacrifice they chose. They both bore insecurities and made mistakes. They were a far cry from perfect, but that only made them real. They were heroes that you could look up to. These are the kind of characters I want to read about and admire.

The world-building was pretty solid and I'm excited to see it expanded in the sequels. I feel like the book kind of alluded to some of the isle's history, but I would have liked even more. Similarly, I didn't really feel the political system in place. There was a king and a monarchy, but I didn't ever see the effects of the kingdom on the rest of the isle, the villages outside of the capitol. They seemed to kind of run independently with loose threads tying them ultimately back to the throne. Even despite the loose connections, we only ever learned one law--magic was outlawed. The creatures were setup with a proper helping of mystery and intrigue. I loved the way Mrs. Fichter approached the olc's and I hope to see more of a variety of creatures in the sequels. I think the olcs were very intricately created, which I quite enjoyed. I want to learn more about their people, their manifestations, and their society. Oh my gosh! I loved the waterfall!! I was kind of sad that she kind of dropped off the face of the earth, though. Like, whatever happened to her? Maybe she'll have a comeback. I am very excited to learn more about The Autumn Fairy and what the significance of that is, as well as the rest of their kind.

The plot felt more like an epic journey storyline than what I was expecting. The book was longer than I originally thought it would be (not that I'm complaining!). There were more parts to the story that had to be shifted and shuffled around. I think I liked that. Everything kind of tied together in the end, but it wasn't a straightforward story. It did keep me engaged and curious, but I was probably more invested in the characters than the plot. I did really like Atharo and the allegorical setup. I also hope to see that expanded in the second book. For the most part, I feel like the book was well-paced and even in some of the slower sections, the plot was still interesting. I never got bored with the story. Furthermore, I very much enjoyed the theme of self-worth and love that the book concentrated on. Mrs. Fichter explores questions that every human asks at some point and answers them very clearly, I think. I love when authors tackle difficult questions and this was very tactfully approached.

The writing itself isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination. I didn't find any plot holes or large writing mistakes. I did find several minor errors, but nothing that made the story difficult or unpleasant to read. I don't recall seeing any grammatical issues or typos; they were mostly words that had been left out by mistake, such as "of" or "if." Mrs. Fichter isn't overly descriptive, bogging the story down, but still manages to provide an appropriate amount of the setting for the story to take place. My only issues with her writing were the repetitions. She often used the same words and phrases multiple times very close together. Even her sentence structures tended to mirror each other and remain stagnant some of the time. It is my opinion that this is something the editor should have drawn her attention to, but I understand that every editor is different and takes note of different things.

All in all, I thought The Autumn Fairy was a beautiful read. It's a fantasy quest with a realistic and sweet dose of romance. There was one foul word, but it didn't feel out of place in the text (to me). There was some violence and one scene of torture, but none of it terribly graphic. I think the violence was very tactfully handled. There were a few kisses, but nothing more. I would be perfectly content to hand this to anyone thirteen/fourteen and up.

What a lovely book, filled with intrigue and mystery and romance! I would call this a fantasy/action/romance book, with main characters that learn and grow throughout the book to become truly heroic . . . although there is still room to grow and learn in the follow-on books!

I'm excited to read what comes next, when Peter and Katy travel to the other islands and learn more about themselves, their roles, and their history and future!

Highly recommended to all lovers of fay-fantasy books with lots of sweet romance, action, and suspense.

I spent the better part of this book annoyed at Katy and Peter's relationship, and at how wrong it was that Peter was going to marry someone else, and not even a nice person, instead of Katy. The plot kept me reading, though. There wasn't a quiet moment, between Katy's struggle for survival and discovering new secrets that changed how she saw the world.

And then, just as I started to think there was no hope, just around then events started falling into place. And then, the day is saved by Katy and Peter both taking responsibility and having each others' back. Which won major points in my book, and ultimately led me to rate this four stars instead of three.

The world was well built. There were politics and complications, real people beneath all the positions and a rich history that I got just enough of to want more. Peter and Katy's friendship/romance was sweet and real. Even if it did have its rocky moments. And the villain was just as messed up as villains should be. Okay, maybe a bit more than he needed to be. Between his

Either way, this was an enjoyable read. Even if I'm not sure I'll be continuing to the next one.

***Major Spoilers Below!***

When I finished The Green Eyed Prince by Brittany, I knew I wanted to read more. So, when a friend shared this book on Facebook on sale, I snatched it. And I'm thrilled I did!

From page one, I was captivated; an aspect which was refreshing all in and of itself. The story progressed rather quickly with our main character desperate to live, but more desperate to keep those she cared about safe. I felt a strong connection with this girl.

Peter... I wondered when he would appear. And I thought his appearance was perfect. Their reunion had me giggling. But dang, if that boy isn't daft! Sure, like his intended is truly going to welcome a female best friend that he cares about more than life itself into the castle. But I loved him anyway. He was brave, even if he didn't feel he was, and devoted. And him bringing Katy to the castle was an entertaining read!

The antagonist was a perfect character! And I was SO relieved he and his twin brother were one and the same because I was totally shipping Mr. Second Lead rather than Peter... Up until the point I realized he was a crazy psycho!

There were a few scenes where I did feel a stab of disappointment. The action was climbing, the scene cut off, and we were only told what happened in another calmer scene. Perhaps this was so the ending would pack a bigger punch? I'm not sure, but it was a fun read despite. Truly, a minor detail.

Then, my last disappointment was simply there was not much focus on Katy's shiny, new set of wings. I mean, that's a huge change, but the focus was spent on her vine prints. (Totally fun!) But wings would have been fun too. (Aside from admiring them in a puddle) Or maybe I just missed something about that?

All in all, I loved this book! It's a great, fun read and a series I definitely intend to finish. I hope this author never stops writing!

This book is an incredible start to an amazing trilogy!! I truly LOVED this book!! I must admit, I was already a fan of Brittany Fichter's before starting this book (and this trilogy), but this book has honestly made her one of my favorite authors ever! This story is so unique and imaginative. I'm a big fan of fantasy literature, but even with all the many books I've read in this genre, this book was unlike anything I've read before. Brittany's writing is so phenomenal and sucks the reader into the story right from the get-go! From the very first page to the very last, I was absolutely enthralled with the story, the magic, the history, and the love between the beautifully written characters, Peter and Katy. Each chapter is dripping with mystery, intrigue, emotion, and unexpected twists and turns in the story line. I LOVED every minute of reading this book and I immediately started reading Book 2 in this trilogy as soon as I was done with this one. I couldn't wait even another day to find out what happens next! I cannot recommend this book enough!!

This was not what I expected. I was thinking it would be a more traditional fairy tale, not something with "olcs". But I liked the characters, so I stuck with it. I'm glad I did. I really want to see what happens next.

This book has a lot of potential and was an interesting read. However, something that I can’t quite put my finger on was missing. And that was very palpable.

Wondering if it gets resolved in the next books in the series. I guess we’ll see because I got the complete box set on my kindle.

YES I gave it four stars. But let me first start with the bad..

It was VERY long. I think it definitely could have been shortened in spots and not damage the overall story.

I almost stopped reading this book. And I RARELY do that. It dragged on in the beginning so bad.. that I almost put it down. If it wasn't for the book battle challenge I am in this month, I would have stopped. I had no connection to the characters, and they didn't really have a voice.

THAT being said.. I am so glad I pushed through!! Once I got to around page 70.. it seemed like the story completely changed. The characters found their voice, and they became relateable real characters and not just words on a page.

I loved the friendship and relationship growth between Katy and Peter. It was magical. I couldn't get enough of those two together.

The villain (not saying more for spoilers..) was AWESOME. Everything I want in a villain. They were one of those villains who think they are doing what's best for the greater good by causing destruction.

There was lots of action, and not many lull spots. I loved this story, and can't wait for the next in the series!

The Autumn Fairy starts out a little rough due to the lack of a proper introduction to the setting. However, Katy is such an empathetic character that it's hard not to become hooked despite knowing so little about her at first. When I finished the book, I learned there is a prologue available online that contains a better explanation of Katy's past, but it was unfortunately cut from the final draft in favor of making it more of a mystery. There also wasn't much magic at the beginning of the book, but Katy's powers grew gradually throughout the story along with the magic in the world around her. Katy, which is short for Katrin, grew up like a normal human even though she didn't know where she came from or why she had powers. Until she was twelve, she had the support of her childhood friend Peter to keep her mind off such things. After Peter left her for eight years, Katy was alone and frightened of the dangerous magic inside of her and what it might do to those around her.

Though it was an original story, the book reminded me of several movies I've seen, such as Disney's Frozen, the Ah! My Goddess anime movie, and the Broadway show Wicked. It is a beautiful amalgamation of many different things that I love, but it is also surprisingly human. Unlike the issues I have had with many of K.M. Shea's books where the characters appear to have no emotions, Katy is painfully easy to relate to. Katy is afraid of her powers and tries to suppress them like Elsa from Frozen. Peter goes up against powerful forces to protect her despite being a mere human who seems to have no chance against such strong magic like Keiichi does for Belldandy in Ah! My Goddess: The Movie. Like Elphaba in Wicked, Katy is ostracized by the general populace and made out to be a villain because of the abilities that she was born with and never asked for. Despite the strong will she had as a child, it's hard for her to not let them get to her. Katy often prays to her god when she finds herself in situations that seem hopeless. She goes through so many internal and external struggles throughout the course of the story that it is very difficult to put the book down and suppress the desire to find out if she and Peter will turn out okay.

The relationship between Katy and Peter is one of the most touching love stories I have ever read. Their love is constantly put to the test. They nearly give up so many times that the fleeting moments they have together felt incredibly rewarding. Their eight-year separation takes such a large toll on both of them both mentally and physically that is clear they cannot be their best selves unless they are together. Peter makes many sacrifices to be with Katy and finds her again just when she had lost hope. They both consider settling for other people at certain points in the story because there are too many forces trying to keep them apart because of the circumstances of their birth that neither of them had control over. However, as well all know, true love always comes through in the end. Peter plays just as large of a role in the story as Katy does, so his character never falls flat like many animated princes do. It's touching how much torment he goes through to protect Katy.

The Autumn Fairy also had one of the best fantasy villains I've ever seen. Tearlach, who is the same species a Katy, comes up with a brilliantly wicked plan to use her to do his bidding. She comes dangerously close to succumbing to it. Though he does toy with her emotions many times like Hans from Frozen, he is a much stronger character and a very formidable enemy for Peter. Near the climax of the story, he seems to have become so powerful that any chance of a happy ending seems virtually nonexistent. It was a truly epic battle of good vs. evil, but without any of the clichés you would find in that sort of story. It hits a lot closer to home when so much of the darkness they are trying to defeat comes from within Katy herself. There is never a dull moment in this book, which is quite impressive considering its length.

Brittany Fichter is still working on the next book in The Autumn Fairy trilogy, and I am very eager to read it. It promises even more fantasy and romance than the first one. Anyone who loves fairy tales but wants to read something original should definitely check out The Autumn Fairy. Though it's not a quick read, it is packed with suspense and emotion. For more stories about faeries, check out the book I wrote a few years ago, Rebirth: A Faery's Tale. It is about a fire faery who falls in love with a blacksmith and struggles with how she can get near him without burning him. Writing it helped me get through a difficult time in my life. Happy reading!

(538 pages)

I'd give this a solid "meh". I was initially really excited about the premise, with the girl who doesn't know who/what she is and the boy who is incredibly loyal to her.

And in many ways, it lived up to my expectations. I loved the way Katrin started the book in a terrible place, feeling abandoned and abused by everyone she'd ever known and horrified of her own abilities. It takes her a really long time to learn more about herself, and she is fully convinced that she is a monster just waiting to kill.

I also loved her childhood relationship with Peter, and the way they clearly have such an incredibly deep bond. Childhood friends-to-lovers is one of my absolute favourite romance stories, and this one was particularly strong.

However, as more and more pages went by, I wound up getting increasingly frustrated with it. For one thing, the eventual plot dump of Katrin's powers, and the characters who explained stuff to her, wasn't as exciting as it could have been. It was okay, though - mostly because I was at least curious about her powers. What I really got sick of was all of the side characters I had no investment in. Peter has like six knights he travels with, and we waste way too much time getting to know them. Plus Peter's quest in the later part of the book is pretty boring; every time I was reading about it, I really just wanted to go back to Katrin.

I actually spent most of the book way more invested in Katrin than in Peter, and I think that's because I was just really frustrated with Peter. He may clearly be halfway in love with Katrin throughout the book, but he doesn't acknowledge it at all and instead spends most of the book seeing zero problems with his plans to have her just hang around him while he's married to another woman. A woman who is clearly a terrible, manipulative person. Which he doesn't see for way too long.

Plus, the phrase "she's like a sister to me" is used way too many times in this book. It's one thing to say it once or twice toward the beginning of the story, to show how oblivious to their feelings their characters are about their feelings, but it's a bit gross to see Peter say stuff like that throughout most of the book. I guess the only redeeming factor is that he doesn't have any actual siblings, so he doesn't know how he'd feel toward one. Because reader, he definitely does not have familial feelings toward Katrin.

Overall, it was an entertaining read which I enjoyed, but it could have been so much more. I think someone should have gone through and chopped out some of those 500 pages. They could have made a much leaner story which would have been a bit less frustrating. I enjoyed it enough, though, that I do plan to pick up the other two books in the series. Keep an eye out for those reviews.

❝You’ll never find happiness as long as you despise what you were made to be.❞

—» Rating: 3.75 Stars

The Autumn Fairy by Brittany Fichter is the first book in a fantasy romance trilogy.

At the age of twelve, Katy clung to the promise Peter left her with—he would come back for her. But as the years pass without his return, Katy begins to believe that her best friend must be dead. After all, he would never willingly leave her to face the superstitious people of their village by herself.

At the age of fourteen, Peter promised Katy he would come back for her. The governor gave him no choice when he sent him away—in fact, the governor was hoping that the dangerous journey would kill him. Instead, he arrived at his uncles, beaten, broken, but alive. For eight years, Peter pushed himself and worked tirelessly to the single minded goal of becoming strong enough to rescue Katy.

The time for his return comes when Peter receives word of an imminent threat to Katy’s life. But when he arrives, Peter is unprepared to face the reality that Katy is no longer the little girl that he left behind.

❝When someone tells you something for long enough, you begin to accept it as truth.”
He looked up at Peter.
“When an entire village tells a lonely young woman that she’s a monster, and she has no friends to refute the lie for eight years, such words are even harder to reject.❞

Will their childhood bond be strong enough to survive when faced with the expectations that their current roles demand?

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The plot, characters, and writing were done well. My only issue was that Peter’s actions, or rather reactions, didn’t always align with his character. Take for example that he has spent eight years working to return and save Katy from the village. And after he does, he becomes dedicated to saving her from the curse. Yet, he repeatedly excuses the people who are threats to her at court.

(Disclaimer: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review)

The autumn fairy was, for me, a five-stars read. It was amazing, the plot was solid and had some variety in the themes it touched. So I would recommend the book to everybody who is looking for a fantastic/romantic read with a solid plot.

However, you must be wondering why I have given a four-star rating for the book, if I loved it so much. Well, the answer is that I had two issues with the book, and they wouldn’t let me push the rating higher (even if I wanted). To explain them, I’m going to mention events that happen further in the book, so beware: SPOILERS AHEAD.

First of all: the title. If a book is named The autumn fairy, I expect that the identity of this fairy isn’t a secret (and as so it’s revealed/explained in the earlier stages of the story). Instead, I found that the main character was struggling until chapter 39 to find out what was she (don’t get me wrong I enjoyed it a lot). There it was not intriguing at all, because I had read the title of the book, which is a big spoiler of the identity of Katy.

My second issue is easily solved: I need the next book. Not just because I loved Peter and Katy and I want to know more about them, but also because it’s needed to tie some loose ends. Such as: What happens with the village of the bats? What did the prophecy mean? Are they going to re-establish the belief in Atharo? Etc...

In conclusion, I liked the book a lot and would surely recommend it. I loved the development in Katy and Peter. It was great how, as characters, they had a different pacing in their development and they each had their own way, but at the same time they evolved thanks to each other. It wasn’t like the relationship between an apprentice and its mentor (one knows everything and the other knows nothing), but each had its strengths and weaknesses. They faced hardships and learned from them, as life tends to be.

What a beautifully written tale of love, magic and sacrifice! The world I read in this book is such a creative and detailed world I felt like I was journeying with Katy and Peter on their personal quests. Each creature and character had a real feel and the writing left with me with a vivid picture of what and who they could be in real life. The magical aspect was crafted wonderfully well, for a long time I had no clue the ‘olcs’ were fairies, were it not for the title. Katy’s character was relatable and the whole time I was rooting for her. Throughout the length of the book she probably felt every emotion known to man-kind and I felt them along with her. Peter was a well-intentioned young man, though at times I could have given him a good shake or two! Did I mention there is a thrilling mystery and evil darkness that is taking over the world?

I would definitely recommend this book to any young-adult or adult lover of fantasy romance. Katy’s and Peter’s love story was a long time coming and I plan on enjoying these two again in the next book.

The Autumn Fairy is the first book in The Autumn Fairy Trilogy.

A wonderful book with a new take on fairies, this was a great read. Katy's strength and perseverance really shone through, and although I liked Peter, he felt angry half of the time, which upset me. Granted, though, his backstory was intriguing. I liked getting to see all of the magic come through in spurts of mystery, although I will say it got confusing. That was my main issue with this book; while a wonderful read with great characters and a well-developed plot, the plot did seem to crawl and consist mostly of secrets that should have meaning but didn't. I still felt confused by the end of the book as to how magic worked on the Isle, who Katy and Peter were, and how the other Isles played into it all. Peter's promise especially confused me; it seemed that his promise was magically binding, which wasn't revealed until later. Also, the details of Sir Christopher's detail were a bit muddy. Overall, I got the gist of it, but the slow-reveal of plot details is one issue I've had with the books by Mrs. Fichter, although her characters and world-building always suck me in because they're beautiful. <3 Excited to see how this series will end!

This story has a great message. I really liked that way that Katy and Peter's knowledge of each other as children played into the way they related to each other as adults. Katy was an interesting mixture of fragility and strength, and I liked that Peter was not exactly the typical hero.

A whole new world is set up with this book, so it took me awhile to understand some of the titles what the rules were. I expect it will be a little easier to adapt to the rest of the series from here on out. The world building in general was very good. The plot made sense for the most part . The story was enjoyable. Though it is clear that there are more books to come, the ending here was satisfying.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I attempted to read this a few months ago and gave up after a couple of chapters because I was so confused by what was happening. I gave it another chance because I've loved everything else Fichter has written, and I'm glad I did because, wow, this was such a lovely story. I think the first few chapters were intended to be light on details to add to the mystery and to more quickly engross readers in the action, but I think this did a disservice to the story and created a somewhat rough and confusing start.

However, after those first few chapters when I was able to figure out the most important details about what was going on, I fell quickly into the rhythm of the story and couldn't put it down. Fichter created such a beautiful fantasy world. I also loved the strong Christian themes seamlessly added to the story. As always, her characters are realistic with great growth throughout the book. I'm excited to see what's next for Katy and Peter in their journey in the next two books.

This was an amazing read! It was very dense but it didn't feel like you were drudging through an extensive backstory to get to the main story.
I really enjoyed this!
Katy is a magical being. She's scared about being an "olc" which are known for being destructive and dangerous. Turns out olc are also known as fairies and they are broken up into different seasons. Loved this new idea!! Katy is an autumn fairy; the only autumn fairy known to the isles.
Peter was great! Brave and true. One thing that didn't flow well in my opinion was their love story. It felt a bit forced and stilted. I didn't feel fireworks or any chemistry between the two of them. More of a friendship turned into something more...not really sure where their love will go. But can't wait to find out!
A couple of profanities.
There were some serious plot twists I didn't see coming. I could say more about this but I risk revealing too much. I have a tendency to do that. (Sorry authors!)
On to the next!!

(Sigh) Well, I’d hoped I was wrong. My first Fichter series was straight up fantasy with an interesting plot, decent world building, and not too shabby characterization, considering the age of our protagonists. My second Fichter was more an urban para/fantasy, and it…was rather predictable on the plot, had very little weight to pull in world building, and had rather…emotional protagonists. I’d hoped the first was the standard, and the second the aberration. It would appear not. There is a difference between true plot tension and overdone, manufactured emotional drama. This leaned HEAVILY on the second. In fact, much of the plot, world building, and characterization seems to have been drafted purely to feed the emotional drama. Now I’m sure there are people who enjoy that, and would consider this wonderful. The best I can offer is…technically, it was cleanly written (no glaring plot holes, typos, or inconsistencies).

Its very rare that I sacrifice my sleep for finishing a book and this was one of those books. So definitely 5star ratings from me for this beautiful fairy tale. The story is about how a shy little fairy goes through various struggles and challenges with the help of her childhood best friend Crown Prince Peter to become a confident and strong autumn fairy. The best part of the story was that despite katy having so little confidence in herself, Peter never stopped believing in her and was always there for her in good and bad times, until finally Katy sees her inner strength and goodness.

I always thought Brittany couldn't write another fairy tale as great as her beauty and the beast trilogy but this story is definitely up to par with Beauty's tales.

Can't wait to read the next two books in the series.

Amazing. This is the fairy fantasy I had been trying to find. The characters are deep, the plot is complex, and the world building is strong. The undercurrents of fear and failure provide fodder for some excellent themes as well. Do not be confused by the absence of the word fairy through the first half of the novel. The world eventually catches up to the terminology.

I would definitely recommend this book to readers looking for a fantasy world with fairies and adventure. There is an element of romance that adds nicely to the tale. Be aware that there are some Judeo-Christian elements in the form of the world’s deity and religion, so if that bothers you, consider that factor in your choice. Personally, I enjoyed that element and felt that it was not overdone or contradictory to the story.

I don't think I have ever given a book five stars before but this one takes it.

You have love, magic, betrayal, battles and more...

This is a multi-pov book which normally I struggle to get into but not this time. I was able to connect with Peter and his struggles to a childhood friend and his loyalty and demands of his family and his crown. Katy having withdrawn so far into herself as she struggles to control the power within her.

This is a must read, the romance wonderful, you love the leads and don't hate them at times. Others you will loathe and hate and wish you could wring their necks. The end leaves you satisfied, but still wanting more so buy the second book at the same time because you don't want to wait like I have too!!!

I loved this book so much it needs to get more love!!

This book is what I'd call the perfect Cinderella-story, if Cinderella happened to be not quite human and the prince being the landlord's son. The story takes some well thought out turns while the magic works on dwarfing the skills of the fairy godmother.

We follow our heroine as she tries to discover for herself who, or maybe what, she is. All the while trying to save her own life from superstitious humans and saving other lives while she's at it. Her character described in a way that makes you want to believe in the goodness of people, and that could make you end up reading the entire thing in one night to find out how it all ends.

Luckily for you and me, there's two more books to enjoy in this trilogy, and I'll be starting the next one right away, because honestly, I can't just stop here.

You never know

I was a little iffy when I started this book but I was hooked pretty fast. I found Katy very intriguing and I wanted to know more about her and what her powers meant and what could she do with them. The mystery behind her was so interesting. I really liked how she didn't want to hurt people even when they were hurting her. She has such a good heart.
Peter I could of smacked a couple of times but I really liked how he didn't break his promise and that he kept her save and loved her for her and was not ashamed of her powers.
There were some very nice twist that I will not go into detail because I don't want to ruin the surprise.
I really did enjoy this book and I am very interested to see what happens in the next.
I will be reading more of this author books very much enjoyed

I really enjoyed this!
Sometimes the writing/scenes.. I dunno. Fell kinda flat? Especially at the castle. And Peter could be annoying, especially with the “she’s like my sister” we all know is garbage towards Katy (though he does redeem himself and he WAS sincere in protecting her even if he was wrong about a lot of things).

Wow. Tearlach was an incredible character. Evil. And insane. But what the author did with him and how complex she made the story with his involvement I very much appreciated!

There were some creepy factors I enjoyed. Several twists that drew me in. Important themes were very well set up and built upon throughout the story that definitely made it richer. I loved the details, even the things Katy was afraid of about herself were very intriguing and I hope to read the next in the series to learn more about what all that means!

What a disappointment. I got about 83% of the way through and ran into a cuss word! Grrrr. I was enjoying the story until then. I was bothered in this story, as I usually am in Christian fiction (and I know this isn't that) when the characters are always in angst with the diety. They complained and argued and whined and didn't trust and didn't love, etc... Why on earth should they think He would help them??? All they did was ask Him for things and whine when they didn't get them in the manner they wanted them. Now, what I did like was the loyalty between the characters and the love between the main character. Peter wasn't always on top of things, but he finally figured it out. I can't recommend it because of the cuss word.

Wow! I’ve loved all the books written by Brittany Fichter but The Autumn Fairy is by far my favorite! The story is such a creative retelling with lots of surprises and sweet blossoming romance. The characters are amazing real – imperfect, uncertain, afraid and yet beyond strong and hopeful, willing to sacrifice everything for those they love.

I really appreciate that Brittany's books are not only amazingly well written stories but told without the need to "sex" them up to sell. They're perfect as they are and can be shared with my daughters and granddaughters who will love them as much as I do. I can’t wait for the next book in the trilogy to continue the journey with Katy and Peter.

(I read an ARC in exchange for an honest review) Once I picked up The Autumn Fairy, I couldn’t put it down! Katy has a power inside of her and it’s growing larger everyday. Living on an island where magic is illegal, she needs to quickly learn to control her powers. Although Katy is willing to sacrifice herself for the safety of others, her childhood friend Peter is not. And because fate decided all of that wasn’t, a mysterious stranger reveals plans involving Katy and the isle. Learning to face their fears isn’t easy, but, if Katy and Peter don’t, their lives and everyone they love could end. The Autumn Fairy is an amazing new story that has plenty of clean romance.

I seriously felt like I was right there with Katie throughout this whole book. When she hurt, I hurt for her, when she was angry, so was I and when she was filled with love and peace in the end, I was also. I loved the main characters so much. They both had heroic qualities but they also had insecurities and fears that showed their humanity. The plot line was intriguing and kept me guessing throughout the whole book. I love when an author can genuinely surprise me with a plot twist and this book is one of the few that did. I would definitely recommend that you read this book. You will not regret it!

This is such a beautiful fantasy tale. From the get-go, it’s hard not to love Katy, a simple girl just trying to find her place in the world, while also trying to control powers of destruction. And then there’s Peter, pure knight-in-shining armor, even if he’s a little dense. The reactions between them are beautiful, as they were friends from an early age, though it is fun to watch their friendship begin to bloom into something else. I love the dynamics of their world, the magic and politics, and the mysteries they discover along the way. It’s a great beginning and introduction to this wonderful world.
