The Royal Baby

Rate this book
An exotic kingdom, an Alpha king with a secret, and a mysterious virgin Omega…

Alpha Mikhail Al-Amin, former king of the prospering desert kingdom of Djanna, is now a wandering merchant in disguise, living in the neighboring nation of Zhebair. Challenging the injustice of the elite, Mikhail discovers an underground network of optimistic rebels led by a disguised Kamar.

Most know him as the eldest son of Zhebair’s Prime Minister, but virginal Omega Kamar has a mind of his own. He’s not deaf to the cries for change from his father’s people, yet Kamar isn’t confident his rebels have the strength for an insurgence.

When the disguises come off, cries of passion mingle with calls for justice in this exotic tale set in a distant new omegaverse. Explicit scenes of mm gay romance make this sweltering tale suitable for adults only.

Where's The Baby?

The title is misleading. Pregnancy is not a part of this story. He doesn't even get pregnant until the Epilogue.

Also. Catheters are not sexy. At the end when he is in the hospital with a catheter in they have sex. Eeewww!

Finally this book is poorly done. It doesn't make sense. How can the government of a country not recognize the king of their neighboring country? Perhaps in the olden days this would be possible but this book is set in modern times with TV, newspapers and presumably internet. Also in modern times why would you need to smuggle fruit across the border of countries not at war? It makes no sense. None of it does.

If you love romamce undercover and M-preg stories you will not want to miss this one.
Kamar son of the Prime minister, was not looking forward to all the things his father wanted to do, especially when confronted with another man that gives him the chills. When he gets the chance to wonder off he does. He ends up finding a handsome fruit merchant in Zehbair named Mikhail, who makes his heart race. But unknown to him Mikhail has his own secrets, just like Kamar. Can they really be together? Or will their secrets tear them apart?

Two stars for the none too incompetent English (though far from formal enough in the narrative proper - the writer seems to ignore that contractions are unwarranted outside of the dialogue) and solid copy-editing. The story itself has a strong rambling feel, with a circuitous plot that still looks like a zero-sum game very late into the book, seemingly endless morasses of lunatic dialogues redolent of the worst late-night TV shows, and as utterly laughable a Middle Near Eastern veneer as the world building itself is shaky and unimaginative. Mr Bates ignorantly throws around titles and portfolios and trade designations and functions without ever being bothered to conform the characters who bear them to what they should mean ; he even dares to open his book with the following demented piece of balbutience (since when, in any Gulf monarchy, the rather plum job of Prime Minister has ever been an hereditary function tantamount to that of king or emir ?) :

"What had he expected, for Zhebair to be razed while he was gone ?

Kamar ibn Mustafa shook his head. The eldest son of the Prime Minister, he was the only one who was of marriageable age at twenty-one years, and therefore a useful pawn in his father's play. That's why he'd been carted off to Djanna, the neighboring monarchy. Zhebair had been a monarchy once too. That was before the royal family had been exiled… or disposed of, and the first Prime Minister, Kamar's great-great grandfather had taken over the government with his cronies."

Do not expect any better from the character themselves, the Alpha / Omega twist to family and love matters, the pacing, and pretty much anything that comes to the mind when one considers that this is a 250+ pages novel, not an original fanwriting.

Kamar ibn Mustafa is the son of the Prime Minister of Zhebair, the ruling regime in Zhebair. He’s also a voice in the resistance against his father’s regime and he goes by the alias of Khalid. Seeing exotic fruit being sold Kamar meets merchant Malik. The two have very strong chemistry when they first set eyes upon each other. Kamar introduces himself as Khalid and ultimately ends up recruiting Malik to the rebellion. Malik has secrets of his own, he is actually Mikhail Al-Amin and he used to be King of Djanna, the neighboring kingdom of Zhebair.

It was a bit of a confusing read. For a portion of it I wasn’t even sure which government Kamar was rebelling against since he had just come back from a political stay in Djanna. As the story progress it doesn’t appear as if any progress is made in the rebellion to overthrow the current ruling factors of Zhebair. The books main focus is the relationship between Kamar and Mikhail and trying to keep the rebellion secret.

Kamar is a very playful, flirty and seeming direct when it comes to pleasure of the flesh despite having no experience and Mikhail himself is no spring chicken to the arts of the flesh. The story had an interesting premise but I was looking for more of a balance between the romance and the plot with the rebellion and where it was going. The bit of side action with Kobi was interesting but I didn't feel like it really fit in the story.

An ARC was provided to me in exchange for an honest review.

Lots and lots of confusing facts:
- The baby doesn't make appearance until one chapter before epilogue so... I kind of wonder where the baby is. Or why it makes it to the title.
- The focus is on Kamar who is a leader of rebellion yet...
- Dear Kamar, you don't ask someone who you just met to a secret rebellion hide out. I'm surprised you live this long.
- Dear Mikail, you don't just tell someone who you met your secret identity. I'm surprised you fake your death this long.
- So Kamar's father randomly... "hey son, go seduce neighboring king whom I never met" and in the middle changes it to "hey, son, go seduce this new star rising general" what, why??

An angst filled journey and happily ever after!

Kama is the eldest son of the Prime Minister. Mikhail is a merchant (and an unknown former king.) They immediately fall head over heels in love but life will get in the way.

Kamar is a leader in a secret rebellion to overthrow the corrupt government of his father. While he quickly let's Mikhail in on what's happening, Mikhail is loathe to do the same.

While each knows he is in love, neither is game to say so in case it's not reciprocated.

What is going to lead Mikhail to confide in Kamar? What is to become of the rebellion? You have to read this exciting book to find out.

Well developed characters and an intriguing plot make this a great book. It took me a brief couple of hours to finish the book because I couldn't put it down. Well worth the effort.

This is a story for 2 royals from different lands. Mikhail, who faked his death to abdicate his throne, and Kamar, the son of another king trying to support a rebellion, meet and are attracted to one another...in the very beginning their relationship is built upon lies as they don't want each other to know their true selves.

I was not a fan of this book as in some parts the story was kind of slow...it seemed to fall flat and a bit unrealistic but the actual romance part was good. I was given an ARC of this book for an honest review.

MM. Alpha/ Omega. Set in a strange middle-eastern land, Mikhail and Kamar meet and are attracted to one another. Kamar is attempting to lead a rebellion, but is only a figurehead. He continually places himself in dangerous situations with little thought to any consequences. He also agrees one minute with something and seems to forget this. Mikhail is trying his best to show Kamar how much he cares, but Kamar cannot seem to understand that either. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

1. Where is the baby????

The MC gets pregnant in the epilogue. Before that there is no mentioned of a baby.

2. The rebellion!?

Unresolved. Loose end. What was the point of this? I dont see how this was relevant to the story. Unsatisfactory ending.

3. The father

His personality changed so fast I got whiplash. I still dont understand his relationship with the General at end.

This book has alot of faults but these were the top 3.

This story takes place in a vaguely Middle Eastern setting. For some reason the only acknowledged a/b/o people mentioned are the two main characters. I think a few others might have been, but I can only recall the MCs. The rebel plot was interesting, but it was never finished. The book ends with Kamars' dad still in charge.

Left Hanging

It really as a good story but when it ended there was one HUGE gaping hole left unresolved. There were also a couple of character personality changes that were too swift to be believable.

The story was okay but I ended up totally confused. If they were going to have a revolution, but the Prime Minister loved his sons, why couldn't they just talk with him... convince him to make changes. Guess I just don't understand.

Ha sido muy diferente pero me ha gustado. Normalmente leo Viktuuri fanfiction de este tipo.
Ha sido diferente a lo que yo me esperaba pero bueno, no me ha defraudado.

Overall I really liked this book. I liked the characters and the setting, and how it seemed both historical, contemporary, and futuristic at once. I thought the pregnancy would happen throughout the story and be a greater risk, but that wasn't the case. Overall, though, I did enjoy the story. Mikhail in particular was a great, complex character, and I was really worried about Kofi and his real motivations at one point.
