Meet Carter Jones. The youngest Jones boy. The newest member of the Memphis Soul.

After signing a contract with his hometown team that made him the league's highest paid wide receiver, Carter thought life couldn't get any sweeter. But he's dropping passes in games and hearing the boos from the fans. Worse, his oldest brother/roommate keeps butting into his business. He needs a new place to stay. Today. When he drives by an open house, he thinks his luck is changing. When he meets the beautiful real estate agent, he knows things are looking up--even if she wants nothing to do with him.

Gabby Stephens has had enough of rich guys. After kicking her ex-husband to the curb, she's eager for a fresh start and has no time for playboys, even the ridiculously hot ones. But when her bills start piling up, finding a home for Carter becomes her top priority. Her second priority? Ignoring her overwhelming attraction to the pro athlete.

In this game of love, Carter's more than ready to make the play to win Gabby's heart.

***4 Stars***

First off....LOOK AT THAT COVER!!!!!

Second....how would I describe this book? ESPN meets House Hunters and they have a slow burn romance baby!

Jamie Wesley is a new to me author, and I loved this first taste of her work! Definitely checking out her backlist!

This was a low angst, sweet and sexy story about two characters that I absolutely loved!

Carter's got an ego that he doesn't mind throwing around, and Gabby certainly doesn't mind putting him in his place.

The two have some past issues to get over, Gabby never wants to be seen as a gold-digger, and Carter is a bit of a commitment-phobe. But the way they play off each other is great!

The banter is fun and flirty and I really appreciate that neither Gabby nor Carter sling their insecurities at each other. They get where each is coming from and lift each other up and support each other.

And let me tell you, while the banter is fun and flirty....the sexy times are hot and passionate. These two burn up the sheets...and Gabby's buttons pay the price.

If you're looking for a great, low angst read with the right combination of sweet and sexy...this is the book for you!

I can't wait for more in these series. I've definitely fallen in love with the Jones Boys!

I was so excited to win this in a giveaway on Twitter because I've been wanting to read it for ages and hadn't gotten around to it. I'm a big fan of Jamie Wesley. She knows how to create chemistry between her characters and that was certainly the case here as well. This is a relatively short book--I read it in one afternoon--and Carter and Gabby do fall in love within a short period of time. But I thought they were a great match for each other, and I love that Carter had to learn to respect her wishes/autonomy to be with her. She also learned that it doesn't make you weak to let someone else help you.

I really hope she writes Tyson's and Jackson's stories next!

3,5 stars - took me a long time to finish but that was due to the Heated Rivalry dive I made.

I liked it more than I expected after the first few pages. But it was too short and quick for me, meaning the scene set up went by very fast.

The spicy scenes were too quick and not descriptive enough, sort of. Right before I fel the yearning with the kisses. But then when the spicyness began it was over before you know it and the had done everything, it made me want to tell them to “take your time and slow down and enjoy”.

Sweet and spicy! Loved the chemistry between Gabby and Carter. Both are overwhelmed with family responsibilities so they spend a lot of time proving how "independent"they are. He's a NFL player and she is a real estate agent. But in reality, they cause their own problems because their over-protective families just want them to be happy!

⭐ 2.5/5

Make the Play by Jamie Wesley is a nice, simple story with straightforward, uncomplicated characters. It’s an easy read and not bad by any means, but it didn’t really wow me either.

At times it felt a bit longer than it needed to be, which made the pacing drag slightly. Overall, an okay read — enjoyable enough, just not particularly memorable.

Them Jones Boys!!!! 😁🙌🏾

So football star Carter Jones comes home to Memphis and meets real estate agent Gabby in a random, but cute way. She's too proud for her own good and he's too cocky for his own good, but they need each other and come to realize how good they are for each other. I love football so I was all into the game scenes! This was a great read. Can't wait to see what Ms. Wesley does with hothead Tyson and brooding, stoic Jackson. She's off to a very good start with this book. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

I loved this book

This is an awesome sports romance. I loved that the heroine, Gabby had a backbone and plenty of sass. I also loved the sweet alpha Hero, Carter. Jamie Wesley penned a great storyline that you will not be able to put down until you have read the last word. One click now you will not be disappointed with this read. I can't wait for the other two Jones brothers to get their stories.

A sweet...HOT...fun read...CARTER is a SEXY piece of work with a HUGE albeit somewhat deserved ego...and Gabby is a newly independent very stubborn woman who’s afraid of falling for another rich man...she’s on a mission to prove she can save her parents and excel in her new career w/o a man’s assistance...I LOVE the way they seem to compliment each other...she keeps Carter grounded and helps him to see you have to put in the work to be a success not just depend on luck...and he in turns helps her to see how beautiful she is and helps rebuild her self-esteem that her ex managed to tear down...the whole cast is quite lively and ENTERTAINING...and I’m looking forward to reading about the next Jones boy to fall...KUDOS Jamie Wesley!

A sports romance with black athletes! They do exist!

This one was a little different with the love interest being a real estate agent and not working in the sports industry. The romance was quick. Can't wait to read Jackson and Tyson's books.

Full review to come.

A good read

The story was a nice easy read. I liked Carter and his brothers. The trio all played ball for their hometown team. Gabby was a realtor with lots of financial issues. When she met Carter, she did not expect to meet a guy such as Carter. A lovely story.
