A really good book, which does exactly as advertised. It's helpful on a number of levels. It offers practical advice on which biblical study tools are worthwhile and tips on how to use them, and then provides plenty of opportunity to put them to use as Wiersbe takes the reader through the entire Bible. With each book, he spends time bringing out themes and highlights, almost like a light commentary. He doesn't go verse by verse, or even chapter by chapter, but does provide plenty of good material for future study.

The one thing I wish he had spent a bit more time on is developing the "discipline" side of Bible study. This is not to say that it isn't discussed, but not very extensively. Perhaps it's because it's different for everyone and he leaves it up to the reader to develop on their own, but it can be such a daunting topic to tackle ("How to I start to study this tome??") that it could've used a few more pages on it, especially from a life-long Bible student like Pastor Wiersbe.

Overall, definitely a helpful volume. Very accessible for the new Bible reader and experienced reader alike. May it inspire generations of Biblical scholars for years to come!

Thanks for taking the time to read my review.

This book is a great summary of the books of the Bible as well as the reasons for doing so. Written by a seasoned pastor known for his teaching and preaching as well as development of other preachers and teachers, this book is accessible and inspiring. Recommended for everyone from the new believer to the seasoned Bible student.

Excellent Refresher Resource

While it may not contain the details you’d find in an extensive commentary, it does provide a good high level review for each book of the Bible. I think it provides the information it was intended to provide. Good resource for the quick ‘go to’ lookup on a chapter you are about to read.

I read some each morning from this book. It is a great way to start your day. It also helped me to examine how I see God and to make necessary changes to align with the Word.

If you are expecting a book about how to study the Bible this is not it. He devotes the first three chapters on Bible Study but the rest is mini commentary on the Bible. It is good if you are looking for accesible summaries on each book of the Bible in one volumes, but you could just as easily get his commentaries
