Published in 1916, Sagen polinischer Juden (Legends of Polish Jews) is an anthology including fifty Hasidic legends, which come from multiple sources in yiddish. Their main characters are the most remarkable leaders of the Hasidic Movement.
These stories are still not lifeless, they have not become history as yet; life is hidden in them and today or tomorrow they can be reborn in each of us.
Really clever stories, crossing over between mythical and religious. They make you kind of feel that you can trust God no matter what. A pity I'm an atheist :)
