Spiders are spooky, especially when they’re as big as trucks and might be murderers. As usual at Haunted Bluff Mansion, nothing is as simple as it appears. The only thing Jane and her friends know to be true is that Grandmother Cookie's life is in danger. Given how Cookie has treated everyone over the years, that doesn't exactly narrow down the suspect pool. As Jane wades deeper into the latest mystery, she finds out that very little is as it appears. If she doesn't untangle the puzzle in time, it won't just be Cookie's life on the line.
Hello! I'm the author of the Witch Way to Mintwood series and the Spooky Business series! I live in New England and love it. I survive the winter by layering, good-natured complaining, and more layering. In case you were wondering. Hearing from readers is always lovely, so come visit me here:
I read this book for a challenge so I went into it not having read books 1 and 2, which meant I spent the first part of the book quite confused and not quite understanding why MC jane didn't seem to be allowed to do a lot of things. Nor the whole haunted world. however as I got furthe in, I started to enjoy this more.
Over all it was an interesting mystery even if i guessed major portions of it early and Iit was kind of fun so I may yet read more of this series.
Ok. Spiders can be scary, especially when they may be connected to a murder of a paid assassin.
Jane Garbo learns this fact first hand when she is watching her Grandmother, Cookie receive a delivery from the Speedy Spider delivery service. Grandmother never gets her delivery though as the driver has been slain.
Is Grandmother the target of assassins? Did the giant Spider kill the driver? Or could it be the Root of all Evil are back and trying to seize the Mansion again?
On top of it all, the inhabitants of 'Down Under' needs a representative at the monthly supernaturals meeting...Is this the perfect position for Jane? After all, Jane and her cousins are the only ones who have ventured to the basement.
This is an adventurous episode of this well-written, snappy dialog series. You will smile, try to figure out who stole the 'crown,' and search for the next volume. Give it a try.
When I started reading the first book in this series, I admit that I was skeptical about the setting; I mean a professional haunted house with real denizens, really? Really. In truth it has worked out well for all sorts of mayhem and mystery and has the honor being different from the pack. This third book continues to delve into the also unusual backstory--a secret paranormal crime syndicate that is out to destroy our heroine's family and take over her home. In this book an assassin is planning to kill Jane's grandmother but is murdered on their doorstep before he gets a chance. Despite all of this, the novels are not dark, but mostly fun and occasionally amusing, and there is a light touch of romance. Unless you are seriously into gothic doom and gloom, there's every chance you will like this series as well as I do!
I hate spiders. I hate even imagining them in anything. I hated them in HP, I hate them in this. Why do they have to be involved in every supernatural/fantasy story? Why?!
Still 4.5⭐
This book was fun! I like the last one slightly better (because no spiders maybe) but that's ok! Still taking off some points for editing issues. Seriously, did she have an editor?! Thankfully, it's not so bad that it distracts from the overall story. It's just a small thing here and there.
I digress.
There's another murder, of course, and it needs to be solved! I like this one a lot because it deals with an assassin going after a member of the family whom I've grown to love.
I also love the blooming romance between Grant and Jane. 🖤
I also love that the cat is appearing more because if a cat could talk, I imagine it being a lot like Rose. Lol.
And lastly, I LOVE that we finally are told what a le-haunt is! 😂
Terrific - I normally hate spiders but I must admit I've got a soft spot for Orwell. Someone is trying to kill her Gran and Down Below have their own problems with the disappearance of their legal system (in the form of the Judge) and the theft of their crown. Plus their delivery man has just ended up dead in a truck outside their front door. Can they all work together to solve who, what and how? A great romp with more supernaturals than you can count and with all the characters being their zany best. Plus the romance is gaining strength and is a great counterpoint to the main story.
Another winner in this off beat series about a real haunted mansion, run by an enormous family of witches, masquerading as a fake haunted mansion, overlooking a normal human town.
This time around, a gigantic spider is the blubbering witness to the murder of a delivery service driver, outside the front door of the Haunted Bluff Mansion. Stranger than usual events are cropping up at the Haunted Bluff Mansion
Spooky Spider (Jane Garbo Mysteries Book 3) was written by Addison Creek. When the diver of a delivery truck turns up dead on the doorstep of the Haunted Mansion, Jane takes it upon herself to investigate what happened. Especially since it seems like the intended victim was supposed to be her grandmother. Overall, this was another good novel in the series.
Jane has to find who hired an assassin to kill her grandmother and find a crown thief. Jane has to deal with the criminal supernaturals and giant spiders. I do like the variety of supernaturals in this series. I like the humor. I liked how she is attracted to Grant, but she is no push over when he tells her not to investigate.
Another fun tale of a real haunted house and it's denizens
Jane and the gang are at it again, and things get scarier than they should be for both the residents of the house and of Down Below. At 62% of this, book 3, you will finally learn what a le-haunt is, even if it does not really make sense. Recommended as a very light read.
The characters are super likable. The cases are interesting. Sometimes, I have a bit of trouble following what the author is getting at when clues are revealed, almost like there's a jump in detail. But that problem is usually solved by the end. Overall, I'm really enjoying this series and will continue it.
This story was great. Loved every word. Jane is amazing and corky. I caught myself laughing several hundred times lol. Can't wait to read the next one. Keep them coming!!!!!
The series continues to delight with new characters and an exploration of the grounds surrounding the Haunted Mansion. One has to wonder just how big is Down Below and who keeps Rose in her haute couture?
What a hoot! I loved the story! Me want MORE! And now that I know that there are more, I'm on my way! I'm glad that Cookie is as powerful as she is. She has saved the day more than once! Let's go get the next one!
After working for the post office, having that many eyes and hands would be wonderful. Loved the book/series. I hate to finish without another one to read. Great summertime beach read.
I really enjoyed reading this third book in the series. The mystery is not always clear until towards the end. I'm looking forward to reading more books written by Addison Creek.
Mystery reigns supreme in this series. There is also plenty of humor and some romance, although I would like to have the romance progress a bit faster.
This is a well written and has well developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
