Genevieve Stone got her first taste of passion as a teenager on a road trip to Kentucky with the bastard bad boy of the country club. Everyone agreed he was not the one for a girl from her station in life.

Ten years later, she's a successful romance novelist and is engaged to be married to the appropriate sort of man. But something is holding her back from finishing her latest book and from joyfully walking down the aisle. On impulse, she takes off for Spring Grove, the site of her youthful indiscretion and the location of most of her happiest times.

What she thought was just a short walk down memory lane quickly becomes much more as Gen reconnects with friends from her youth and is welcomed back into the quirky arms of small-town Kentucky. And it isn't long before she starts to realize that the man who was supposedly so wrong is oh so right.

NO, NO, NO!

After a dirt bag ex cheats, lies, and disrespects you on top of everything else, why do you turn down the man who is obviously perfect for you? Who does that? An unrealistic idiot, is who. No sane, red-blooded American woman would have held out on Theo, especially seeing him on a daily basis, for a year. Insane, and illogical. Gen frustrated and annoyed me. Period. Don't waste your time or money on this one. I wish I'd saved my mine, as this was a total waste.

I read this novella as part of The Vault anthology. This is my first opportunity to read something from Toni Aleo. While the writing was fine, the story just didn't intrigue me. Even as a novella, it took me days to plod through. I had no incentive to find out what happened next. While searching for this story to review, I noticed Toni Aleo has many books to her credit and more than plenty of fans, so perhaps I may try something else by her at a future date. It may have just been the setting, the plot or something else which didn't agree with my tastes.
A young author is engaged to be married to a self-centered man and living with him in Washington DC. However, her heart secretly belongs to someone else, someone from her teenage years, back in Kentucky. Her fiancé doesn't think what she does for a living can be considered work, and things come to a head weeks before her wedding, when she has a deadline to meet on her current book. He expects her to give up writing and find something more practical. She in turn, decides to run back to Kentucky to work on her book, where surprise! She runs into the old flame.
I had a lot of unanswered questions as the story progressed, feeling as if I missed an earlier story about these two. Suffice to say, by my 3 star rating, this story just wasn't my taste.

I enjoyed the story of Gen and Theo, young lovers who were torn apart. Theo never thought he was good enough for Gen he was the town bad boy whereas she’s the quintessential good girl,

Ten years pass before they meet up again but there’s a complication Gen is engaged. Theo never gave up hope that they would reunited.

I liked Theo’s character he was the guy all the girls fell for but with a sweet heart when it came to his girl. What Gen does for a living was inspired I loved getting in her head,

Enjoyable sweet second chance love story.

I absolutely loved this book. It's a quick read that's full of surprises!
I loved Gen and her persistence at following her dreams and standing up for herself, not settling for less.
There were a few scenes where I wanted to scream at her fiancé Montgomery but Genevieve handled her own which is what I really liked about her. She's a strong woman who had that sass about her.
I loved how the author made her heroine a writer/author and showed another part of the character and her struggles with how some people (losers ** wink wink) perceive authors as not having a career.
I loved that Theo followed her and knew she was successful and he was proud of her.
I can't believe he read all her books to and together helped her finish her story by confessing how he feels. The whole thing was just awesome!
It was exciting seeing these two back together again. The chemistry is hot!!! And so is Genevieve's writing which you get to see too!!
There's also a twist that I didn't see coming but definitely added Angst to the situation between Gen and Theo.
A great nighttime read that's sweet, funny, sexy and HEA!
Highly Recommend!

“Darling, I’m not the one for you. You deserve the world”

Those words in the prologue as Genevieve watched her bad boy be taken away, hurt my heart before I even knew their story. They were the words of a young man who absolutely loved his girl, and wanted her to live a great life. For Gen, spending time with him had started out as a rebellious act against her parents but quickly became more. And during this short introduction to their story, I didn’t get any insight beyond the veneer of the situation that he’d gotten them into, until he refused to let her be involved and took all consequences where they should be. With him, and him alone, and uttered those words and more to her.

Thing is, her life was ‘OK’ and though I had my suspicions, how the man with whom she’d spent the last five years of her life with, was related to her past love, wasn’t confirmed till later on in the story. Gen is now a successful author of erotic romances and about to get married to a man that I’d have kicked to the kerb. She knew she did love him, but had started to wonder when it had become all so hard. When he had become so hard to deal with. He hated her career.

‘Not The One’ is by no means a hot book. It is an intense second chance romance and the chemistry between our two characters is strong. True love hasn’t faded. Our young bad boy had grown up, built a life and worked to become deserving of his first and only love, always hoping that Gen would find a way back to him. Highly recommended, and a great contribution to The Vault: A sinfully Sexy Collection Volume One. 4.5 Stars.

Toni Aleo did it again !

Good Lord Toni Aleo knows how to grab your attention .
SHE IS THE QUEEN OF HOCKEY. BUT she can dam near write anything.
Not the One is a quick read that grabs Your attention from the first page.
Genevieve is an Author who is stuck in a relationship that is on the rocks.
Close to the wedding she decides to go back to her special. A place she left after heart break.
It's been years but she soon sees what she has been missing in her life.
THEO hot dam that man. Even in the shadows that man was heart stopping.
I LOVED their journey and each page turning word captured a LOVE that I think a woman hope to have. A man who holds on to the perfect woman for him and does everything to feel worthy.

One click Not the One you will love every second of Genevieve and Theo's story!

Now I'm hoping for more since I have go know what happens with Delaney ....

Toni Aleo is an amazing author. She is the queen of hockey romances and is now showcasing her skills in a new realm. This novella helps make you believe in second chances and in the power of true love. Theo has loved Gen for most of his life. However, an amazing set of circumstances and time have kept them apart. However, this is all about to change.

Gen returns home to finish her book with every intention of going back to her everyday life. However, when she reunites with Theo it is as if time has stood still. What does this mean for her relationship with her fiancé, Montgomery?

While Gen and Theo have a special relationship, her relationship with Montgomery is less than stellar. He is the kind of man that you hope you never meet. Will Gen realize this and see what she could have with Theo?

Overall, this was a wonderful read that moved at a fast pace. It will make you believe in love and hope for the future.

Mercy! How far will you go for the one that you love? What if you felt you weren't good enough? That's exactly how Theo feels. He's loved Jen for years and wants her back. Time has kept them a part but is time on their sides now?

She's just back to finish her book and then return to her life. She remembers how it used to be between her and Theo but she needs to go back doesn't she?

Montgomery, her fiancé is a butthead and a straight up mama's boy. I thought of all kinds of mean words for him :P He treats her like crap and wants to change who she is.

Jen doesn't want to change, she is who she is, she's still the same person from when they first started dating. Montgomery makes me so mad! Is Theo and Jen meant to be together after all this time?? Read it and find out!

Theo...sigh...mercy me...yeah, we all need a little bit of Theo in our lives.

Great new charming town of Spring Grove is filled with interesting characters, that I fell in love with (including the nosy people).

Charming story about what is meant to be will happen even if you have to wait for years for it to happen.

Theo the bad boy grew up to be not that much of a bad boy has been in love with Gen so long. When Gen turns up in his town again he’s playing for keeps this time.

Gen good girl turned, bad turned turned, good girl is getting married but is being suffocated by his mother due to their impending wedding. Her fiancé not happy with her career choice is not helping her stress level. Three weeks before the wedding Gen decides to visit her favorite town to finish her book and think about her situation.

When she runs into Theo can she keep her old feeling at bay or will she make a decision that seams inevitable the more time she spends in Spring Grove.

Totally recommend this book it’s full of interesting, funny, and nosy characters.

Two of my favorite genres in one quick fun read--small town and second chance. Theo is from a really small town, forced to play nice with the rich people. All he wanted to do was get his mom out of the diner. He would do anything, and that was his biggest mistake.

Gen wanted to find herself. Gen wanted to rebel against all things rich. She saw her escape in Theo the rich man's love child, the secret child from a small town.

Ten years later, and she hasn't seen him since that fateful day they were arrested. She is miserable. She is lonely yet to be married. She needs an escape to the small town where she felt alive.

This story gave me romance, conflict, drama, and guys to hate. (and yay there was more than one guy to despise) and a happily ever after that wasn't easy, but earned.

Love all that is Toni Aleo, after all she’s the one who made me fall in love with sports romance books, love those Assassin’s! Now she brings us Not the One the first in The Spring Grove series.
Genevieve is in a rut and can’t seem to find the inspiration to write her book, engaged to a man who just doesn’t give her the inspiration, she heads to the place where years ago she met the love of her life in hopes of getting inspiration to finish her latest book.
She fell hard and fast for Theo, things go bad and he pays the price.
Loved this story, but to be honest Toni Aleo hasn’t written a book that I haven’t liked. Read this in one day, short and sweet story. Loved this book and obviously love Toni!

I absolutely loved everything about this book, well besides Montgomery. Genevieve thought her & Theo has forever until he went to jail and breaking her heart. Years later Gen is engaged to Montgomery and wants to finish writing her book in her favorite place Spring Grove but learns that Montgomery thinks her writing isn’t a career. Their relationship is on the rocks and when Gen goes back to Spring Grove she knows that’s where she belongs. I really enjoyed this story and love the characters and hopefully there will be more in this series

I loved this introduction to Spring Grove from Toni Aleo! Gen and Theo were everything! I mean swoon me all over with this man!! A second chance romance between a romance writer and the one she never forgot. Too bad he’s the half brother of the fiancée she’s not sure she still loves. Oh and did I mention that Montgomery, the fiancée is a total momma’s boy that just dropped that he thinks her career is dumb?! Yeah he entered douche territory at that moment. Seriously, Aleo creates an amazing little town here with a cast of characters that just make you smile! I totally want more!!

I love Toni's hockey books and this is not about a hockey player BUT this book is so awesome!! I loved these characters, Theo ... oh be still my heart. I enjoyed the story, it was filled with lots of emotions and feelings. The characters in Spring Grove make me want to go back to read more. Theo stole my heart from the first page and I loved the connection he had with other characters. Fate is always something I like in a plot, and that was front and center. This is a quick book to read but it is filled with a beautiful love story between Theo and Gen.

So sweet, so beautiful!
Not the One introduces us to the quaint little town of Spring Grove where everyone knows everything about everybody. That can be good or bad, but in the case of Theo and Gen, it is a good thing.
For Theo, it was love at first sight ten years ago, but he made some big mistakes. Now he has grown to be a better person and when Gen walks back into his life he will do anything to prove he is worthy. They have a love that was simply meant to be! Gen just needs to get in board.

Genevieve was suppose to be getting married to Montgomery but weeks before the wedding she finds out he is not supportive of her career as a romance writer. She decides to go to Kentucky where she grew up to finish her book where she meets up with her past love Theo who she got in trouble with when they were younger. Now out of jail for two years he’s completely changed and the feelings are still there. Now Genevieve needs to make a decision for her future

Genevieve has decided to take control of her life. The thing about that is, her fiance doesn't like that plan especially since it includes her choice in places to do so. It's where he is.
Theo has paid for his mistakes. He lost the love of his life in the process and now it's time to take it all back. Starting with her.
This was a great second-chance love story and the first I've read by this author, though not likely to be the last.

Not the One

Gen thought Them wasn't the one. Because he told her so when he did something stupid and got in trouble. 10 years later she's engaged to his half brother and fighting to keep true to herself. Struggling to make her deadline she heads back to her inspiration and and old memory. Not for you is a well written novella and I loved it. I recommend it for a quick Toni fix.

It was jam packed with everything that’s Toni.
It had love, it had heartbreak and troubles and all the sexy stuff too.

New series, love love

Toni Aleo nails the curvy female character in this book. Second chance love story while engaged to the half brother. What a douchebag he was, Montgomery. Theo, wow everything wrapped up in one package. Waiting for the love of his life to come back to him. Genny needed time, space after calling off the engagement & to think about finding herself again. Beautiful love story & can’t wait to read more about this couple. Great new series.

I enjoyed "Not the One" by Toni Aleo. This was a fun read. I loved the small-town feel and the great characters that make up the town. This was a good start to the series- however, I felt like this was "book 2" in that I couldn't help but wonder if I was missing part of the story. Regardless, it was still a great read and I'm looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
This author is always a great one to have in your book collection.
Happy Reading...enjoy!

Not the One

My goodness I love Toni Aleo and her stories. This is the first story set in Spring Grove and I really hope this turns into a new series for her. I loved the small town feel you get from Spring Grove and how the characters in the town really help support the story between Gen and Theo. Their second chance and glimpse into the past and present was phenomenally done.

Great new series!

I loved all Toni’s previous series and this one is a great start. The characters are great and they make you feel a part of them. All the best things in a small town without the annoying reality of knowing everyone knows your business. Can’t wait for the next book.

What an amazingly sweet story!!

You really should expand Spring Grove into a series! Such a fun and lively bunch with lots more story to them I think. Found this little surprise after I finished the ARC of the most recent "Whiskey" book and was happy to get another Toni Aleo fix! You write it, I'll read it. :)
