Miriam Schlein was an American author who wrote nearly 100 books that helped teach children about animals and more obscure ideas such as space and time. Her books include The Year of the Panda and Discovering Dinosaur Babies. Schlein died of vasculitis in Manhattan, New York, at age 78, in 2004.
I saw this book on top of a stack of juvenile non-fictions at work and had to read it. I freaking love pandas. It was a cute, short read, and the pictures are nice (and isn't the main pull of these the pictures, honestly?), although reading about how they struggle to eat sometimes when the bamboo dies out for a year is depressing.
