After nearly being killed in an undercover operation, police officer Savannah Olgethorpe has sworn off adventure and chosen a safe corporate job. But when she falls into another century--and into the arms of a legendary pirate--can she survive the dangerous past to win a passionate future?
Despite a no-nonsense background as a West Point graduate and U.S. Army officer, Caro Carson has always treasured the happily-ever-after of a good romance novel. After her military service, she worked in the healthcare industry with a Fortune 100 company, talking science with doctors who were rarely handsome bachelor Texans like the doctors in her books. Now a RITA™-award-winning and USA Today bestselling author, Caro is delighted to be living her own happily-ever-after with her husband (who is a handsome Texan) and their two children. They live in Florida, a location which has saved the coaster-loving theme park fanatics a fortune on plane tickets.
I enjoyed the tale of Savannah and Jonas more than I expected. The historical details were great but it was the tender romance and interesting back stories that really made this book a winner. I only wish it was longer.
This is a great little time travel. Savannah suffers from anxiety attacks and is in the middle of one when she stumbles into a cave that leads to 1740. And, what’s so great about it is that you don’t know why until later on. Did she come back to save Jonas or did she come back for Jonas to save her? I love stories where there’s questions to ask and you have to wait for the answer.
And speaking of Jonas and Savannah, there’s some serious sexual attraction going on between them, some sweltering-hot kisses, and that’s my favorite. If there’s sexual tension between the hero and heroine I don’t even care if there’s sex. AND there wasn’t! As soon as they got down to the deed it was fade-to-black. I thought it was perfect.
And the ending? I sure didn’t see that coming. You gotta read this.
This was a wonderful time travel piece with a unique twist. My only criticism is that I wished the author had made the story longer. This time travel story was a bit reminiscent of Outlander for me, however rather than a gorgeous Highlander like Jamie the leading man in this tale happens to be a notorious, sexy pirate. He recuses a female who is a former police officer that has accidentally fallen through time. Sex and adventure on the high seas abound. I won't give away the ending but the author puts a very unique twist on time travel and it's also really a quick read. So settle back with your favorite snack and get lost back in the year 1740, and I hope you enjoy this novella as much as I did.
This is a lovely little story about how Savannah Oglethorpe accidentally travels from 2014 to 1740 Georgia to meet the pirate who is her destiny.
After a traumatizing event, Savannah quits the police force and is interviewing for a position with a security firm. The new employees are having dinner in a historic house which includes a guided tour of the property. When Savannah becomes separated from the group, she tumbles down some stairs into a new adventure.
A fun little romance that satisfied my pirate craving. I wish it was longer because it felt like the author tried to cram in more action than her word count allowed. There were some jumps in the action and information gaps I wish had been filled it.
