After having their success against the Ascendants used by the Vestibulum as a cover for the mass murder of their old enemies, Sean has discovered that the Vesti's are far more ruthless and dangerous than the previous two councils he's fought. After two hundred years of holding on to the leadership position among all of the councils, obviously the Vestibulum isn't going to give up anything to anyone.

While Sean promised not to start a war, it's looking more and more like that choice isn't going to be his to make. Especially when the other Ascendant chapters come calling to avenge their dead. Thankfully for Sean, he has witnesses to just what happened, witnesses that will hopefully keep all the other councils from rallying against him. But now will they instead rally against the Vestibulum instead? That could be just as bad for him.

Then there are the people that Sean saved from the Ascendants during the raid, all of whom he's responsible for, and for now has to provide with a place to live as well as protections from the magic of their former masters. Then there are the four dark elves that were freed during the raid, two of which are now very interested in Sean and one of which isn't at all afraid to let him know, constantly.

And just how do you go about introducing your mother to your (several) wives when she shows up in a few days?

I'm new to the Harem / LitRPG thing (If I'd known more about LitRPG when I wrote Shadow, I might have incorporated more elements of that into it).
I have a FT job, so I work on this when I can. Hopefully the next one will be even better.

Things keep progressing the way I have expected. Sean keeps building his power and he keeps freeing more lycans. One of my biggest issues lately is no matter how much Sean talks about preparing for being attacked and how much the story goes into detail about he is preparing for an attack, when he actually gets attacked he never seems prepared. He gets yet another wife in this book, but the story is still enjoyable and I am moving on to the next book.

To the author

Damn you and that cliff hanger ending!
There, that out of the way, thank you for such an amazing ride so far. I really am waiting for the drama Sean meeting a lioness in person could potentially bring to play in his family dynamic, just seems like a plot twist waiting to happen. The author's note's mention of short stories for each wife, that really sounds appealing, and the news of a whole other story arc to come after this current one is very reassuring after this book's ending.
As much as I am glad the next book is expected to release soon, I just want to encourage you to take as much time as you need and not push yourself to overwhelm yourself with juggling all the growing subplots.

I read all of it, things get really hard and then it's time to rebuild. It has gotten a bit corny, but still awesome story! We see more of the girls point of view that's what I like with this series the Female love interest aren't possession and trophy they actually are part of why Sean can do the thing he does.

It's OK, but too much time is spent on explaining extraneous details, gratuitous sex, or Sean expanding his harem and too little time on focusing on dealing with the mage factions and his "mystical lion" stuff. I quite literally skipped over about a third of the book because I didn't want to read yet another graphic orgy scene that does nothing for the story.

The constant ass grabbing and hormonal lust is annoying but there's a decent story behind it all. Thick plot armor though

You know this series started out pretty interesting. It wasn't good my any stretch of the imagination, but it was at least entertaining. Now that I'm 5 volumes in and I have to say I'm just sick of it.

I usually start the reviews for this series with a warning that this is a male power fantasy and not much else, but I figure if you don't know that by now then you got bigger problems then I'm willing to address here. So at this point it's clear that the author is really into repeating themselves. Every volume seems to start with the main group losing their home, getting another one, attacking their enemy, make a decisive victory, rinse and repeat. I should have put a spoiler warning there I think I just spoiled the entire series up to this point. As you can guess I'm not impressed with the story so far. It was interesting to start, though in no way original, but when plots keep repeating and character refuse to change it starts to wear on this old man.

Speaking of characters I would love to get one that I actually care about. Sean, the main character, is just some over powered Isekai protagonist, just happen to be sucked in a world were his game skill give him the edge and since magic is just computer code he is a genius at it. What really gets me is that Sean is just an entitled jackass. He gets everything handed to him and always gets his way or other do the work for him. All so that he can have all the sex with the one note women of this story. He does even have to woo them there just drawn to him animal magnetism. Its answered by one simple response, "because lion." That's it, women want to sleep with him, because lion. He gets his way, because lion. Everyone looks up to him, because lion.

The sex objects, I mean his "wives" aren't any better. they exist to do his bidding, get his rocks off and little else. Every conversation is either with him or a out him, needless to say none of them pass the Bechdel Test (Google it). They all boil down to their looks, what they are and one thing there good at, such as tall, busty dwarf that is good with machines. Oh and don't for get they love each other and Sean, even though they have only know each other for a few months in volume 5. It really erks me when writers make love out to be something so simple and easy to achieve, when a single Google search will tell you that the "love" these characters have for each other is just a mix of lust, infatuation and fear. I know the harem thing is just to draw I a horny male audience but it's just just so fake sounding when I read it.

Over all, I just feel annoyed and board with these books, which is sad since I thought the premise had promise to be a entertaining amdmindless adventure. However, in the end it was just another disappointing book that I had to force myself to finish. It all ends on a cliffhanger but I'm not sure that I want to see the resolution. I think I'd be happier with this end where Sean's dead sacrificing himself for other.

This book does what most books can’t, it manages to hold up under the stress of an ever growing world.

The fight is moving beyond their borders as the cast realizes they aren’t just fighting a single group, but an entire ideology spread across the world. This alone would cause most books to fall apart as the author attempts to bring logic into what is usually an entirely illogical scenario but this one breaks the mold and manages not to buckle under the strain.

The series finally begins to talk about what is going on in other areas of the country by following other Lycans as they “spread the word” so to speak. It also finally fleshes out the new group of people mentioned briefly at the end of the last book. (Keeping this spoiler free of course)

The relationships are still growing in number though the women are becoming less unique as more are added being more shades of the same stereotypes instead brand new characters but I can’t really fault the author for it. They do however each come with unique backstories which are all entertaining to find out. Another point in the win column for this series in my opinion is that the hero is beginning to pick and choose his women sometimes turning them down. So instead of every woman that comes along just gets added by default, we instead find that, though many are coming along, only some stay.

The one downside to this story, and I’m trying not to let it sour the whole novel for me, was the ending… Or really lack there of. The book ends, not on a cliffhanger, but just randomly. Big epic climax… and done. Like what? I hate when a story ends on a bad note for me since that’s what I’ll remember most of all but I’m going to try and be fair to the ENTIRE story instead of judging it for that last part.

That being said, I’m already starting the next book so that should let you know how I feel about it despite the ending.

This is a combination review of the entire 17+ book series as I binged the entire The Valens Legacy over the about a month.

The Positives:
- The writing is really good. Often when I binge an author things like their crutch words become constant irritants that didn't happen here.
- Stryvant doesn't mess around. The plot never really stops or meanders, each story having important events that carry the narrative forward.
- There's two maybe three arcs in this series but each flow one into another smoothly so it all seams like a natural progression.
- All the arcs are entertaining and engaging I always wanted to know what would happen next or figure out the mystery.
- The Main character rides the line of being a Gary Stu never really crosses that line.
- Functional magic system and cohesive world.

The Negatives:
- The pervasive fetish portions. Even during serious portions Stryvant will often break my immersion with sexual talk or fetishes.
- Repetitive sex and romance. It does get better later in the series, but since Stryvant's fetishes don't change over the course of the book neither do these scenes. I started skipping them, but he'd often stick important plot points in the middle of them.
- The women characters tend to be on the bland side and over sexualized.

Over all I enjoyed the series.

The fifth book in the Valens Legacy addresses one of my two principle complaints with the series. I don’t know if this is a retro-fix or was planned from the beginning, and I don’t care. Stryvant provides a workable explanation for the incredible magical abilities that Sean has acquired over such a short period of time. There is still far too little stress on the beast within the lycanthropes for my tastes, but ultimately that’s the author’s choice.

This series is engaging and I greatly look forward to each new volume, but the books also feel rushed, which explains why I keep giving them 3 or 4 stars. Stryvant needs to slow down a little and take the time to seriously revise/polish his books. While I’m sure all of his fans appreciate getting a volume of the series every six weeks or so, I always find that giving yourself a little time for a serious rewrite vastly improves the quality of the novel. So I like the series quite a bit. The characters are diverse and interesting. The action is well thought out. But they could be substantially better if the writing wasn’t quite so hurried.

I am really enjoying the series. Cool points, actually mentioning slave revolts like Gasper Yanga and some of the ones that are not publicized as much. Pointing out that what the Lycans are living under is slavery by Magic users. The artist needs to flesh out the Ladies of the Harem though. He keeps adding to the Harem giving great sex scenes and of course there are explosions and car chases and FULL NUDITY (All great!) but what do these Women enjoy and what were they really when they were not his Wives? The Jolene character is a Human Magic User in a Harem of Lycans. She's a Tantric Witch. I never see her do anything Tantric other than the superficial? No yoga or anything. Come on! Ok on to the next book.

The Lion Roars

Sean and family are trying to build and make meaningful places for the people he has freed. They are soon attacked by the Ascendents Council from Sacramento because they think that Dean's group killed their membership in Reno. Sean and crew prevail, but at a cost. Cat and mouse games are played by the magical councils while Sean builds a defensible home. I like the love expressed by Sean and his wives. The humor and action keep my interest at a high level. Talk about a cliffhanger! Will Sean and his people prevail against the Vestibulum? I very eagerly await the next book.

Really? A pooka?

I have to say the combat and politics of the story remains enjoyable but now things are getting too bloated. And the bad rip off of the old movie Harvey is just wrong. It’s just wrong. You’re better than that. Tell your story, don’t rip off other people’s ideas. There really was no point to the inclusion of the fairies. And all the girls remain flat characters. The girls either blush, giggle, or fake being angry with Sean. And once he’s bed them, because he falls in love faster than the bachelor tv show cast members, what little character development and uniqueness they had vanishes.

Not bad

The authors use of "honestly" and a couple other phrases too frequently has really been annoying me.
Some discrepancies.
Sex scenes I've just been skipping half the time. And Jesus he wastes so much time when he has too much to do.. !
It also really annoys me that Sawyer is still taking half his profits... What kind of idiot gives away so much money. Sawyer is making more profit than he is. Those enchantments are unique to Sean and because of that alone he should be taking 95% and charging way more. His wives should be selling them instead. He doesn't need Sawyer to steal so much of his money when he desperately needs it. So dumb.

Another another enjoyable read in the Valens Legacy series

Stryvant writes well, and to my liking, he writes for adults without falling into the romance genre. When It Falls continues with the trials of Sean Valens, once a poor UNR student, gamer, and son of a murdered and defamed enchanter and CEO. Sean's life totally changes when he is bitten by a dying were lion in a bid to save his life after being seriously wounded in an attempt on his life.

Definitely read the first four books, to bring you upto here where Valens and company are again fighting for survival

Too quick a read

It's got almost non stop action fairly solidly plotted.I've read the other books in the series and look forward to the next entry.I look forward to more world building,of late there's been precious little. We've not really been introduced to all the magical species that live in this world or the other worlds that are connected to it except this time faeries, dark elves, and vampires and other undead are referenced or make brief appearances. Further, the only players in the books are lycans and casters ; what are the mundane humans up to?

Love the Dark Elves!

Amazingly enough this series just keeps getting better. The action keeps ramping up, characters keep growing and even more types of magical being keep getting added! The bad guys keep getting more evil and the good guys keep kicking more bad guy butts! Ya just gotta love it. Trust me, read this book and this entire series. You WILL be so look glad you did! Again, thank you Jan & keep up the great 👍 work!! As always, I'm REALLY looking forward to the level book!! 😃

Stupid ending!

First I must say I’d very much like this book series I’ve given all the previous books a very high rating but this one felt too much like a gimmick ending. I don’t like it very much when authors use gimmicks to ensure that the reader will buy the next book that’s what this felt like. But other than the ending the rest of this book was very good but unfortunately I always rate books by how I feel at the end of the book.

Mystical Lion Sh*t

Wow...Sean adds a Dark Elf to his group, his home gets blown up again lol 😂 He now has 2 women pregnant, and has reunited with some missing family.. a lot happened Everyone has been worried about the last Magic Council with Lycans since it’s BIG and Powerful and #1.. and things do come to a head towards the end of this book.. and hopefully Sean’s Lion pulled some mystical stuff and he’s okay... which he’s the main character so I’m gonna bet he is alive lol🦁

The book is getting bigger

The book is getting bigger but it also needs to be longer and I still want the girls to be more developed and Sean I can't tell if he's becoming a jerk or not because the book explains his actions. The girls I want more personality because they are running the risk of being boring. The book us pretty good though.

Keep 'Em Coming

I couldn't figure out how to give 4 1\2 stars so I gave it a 5. The story line is excellent and the characters are interesting and engaging. I'm 56years old, have been an avid reader since my teens and find this series very readable. I would have given it an heartfelt 5 stars with a little less sex
' scenes' and more progress on the story arc.

Action-Packed (Pun intended)

Once more into the breach, dear friends, we find our supernatural team fighting on the defensive against onslaughts both personal and shared. Action dominates the story, but drama, humor, and love flesh it out nicely. If you’ve enjoyed the series so far, you’ll love this book. Can’t wait for the next one!

Excellent Read

I wrote a review for the first book and now I am back for this one. The characters are extremely well written and fleshed out. In fact, this author has gotten me hooked on the genre. I have enjoyed the stories so much that I am going to buy the books and re-read the series once the next book comes out.

Good stuff

This guy just doesn't it keeps it simple yet light-hearted and tells an interesting story. Its a more than I just want to see how it ends, I actually am interested in what happens next. Something macho about the way the story is written but he still provides depth into the characters. This has been an interesting series of books so far.

I really like this serie. I started it as an experiment to try something different and from that moment on it seems I cannot stop reading. I am used to read john conroe, drew hayes, jim butcher, benedict jacka, ben aaronovich.
To me the stories of those writers are a significant part of my life. As of now the stories of Jan Stryvant are part of it too.

for what it is worth; I recommend!

Honestly, if this one hadn't finished on a cliff-hanger, I'd be done with the series. Too much of it consisted of detailed descriptions of sex, and sexual banter... none of which progressed the story. This is a frustrating series for me. There's a good story buried in there, but it's a slog to get through all of the masturbation fantasies.

Weak ending

Do you like stories that stop right in the middle of the action and the say “The End”. Then you might like this. Personally I hate it. The author needs an editor to smack him in the head for that ending.

Great story never long enough..lol

I am not a fan of multiple viewpoints in a story but it is kept to a minimum and still done well. . I'm enjoying watching the growth of the characters. Will be keeping an eye out for the next book.

Cliff hanger!

This was one of the better books in the series.
Still a short read.
The sex still adds very little to the overall story.
I'd recommend this book I'd you have kindle unlimited and have read the rest of the series.
