Rule Breakers #1

Rule Number One

Rate this book
I live my life by two rules. First, I never let my guard down and let anyone get too close. It only opens doors for ways to get hurt. Second, I never learn the names of women I take home. Putting a name to a face makes it personal, which breaks rule one. So enforcing a strict no name policy is vital. Julie Remington is a friend of a friend. Pretty, stubborn, infuriating…instant attraction. I don’t like the fact that I like her. And what I dislike even more is having to share a bedroom with her. Now I regret agreeing to come on this trip to act as my best friend’s wingman. Why? Because the more time I spend with Julie, the more I want her. The more I want her, the more I push her away. I can’t help it. It’s a natural defense mechanism that makes me act like a total ass. She seems to have the ability to make me want to break my own damn rules, and I can’t allow that. This entire situation has the potential to turn into a huge complication. And it’s a complication I can’t afford.

DNF @ 32%

I usually make myself get to at least 30% before putting a book on my dnf shelf, and I barely made it past that.

This was just too OTT for me. The H was supposed to be this playboy that was a jerk. I definitely got the jerk part, but he was talking about "falling" for the h already at ~12%! I also felt like both of the mcs had major inconsistencies with their characterizations. They would run totally hot and cold, and both of them would even lose their temper seemingly out of nowhere where I was just left feeling confused. I also didn't like the way the author went about the h being in a abusive relationship before the H. I might be a little sensitive to that topic because of my own personal experiences, but then again I have read other books with the subject matter that didn't bother me. It just felt sloppy. I'm not quite sure if I'm communicating it right, but it just felt like it was added just to add a dramatic element and wasn't given the seriousness it deserved.

It might be an okay read for some, but overall it simply wasn't my jam...

Oliver was struggling. He didn’t have an easy life, even though he was filthy rich. It was because of what had happened to him that he decided to live his life based on 4 rules he vowed never to break...for anyone.

He was a jerk.
He was rude.
But he also had a broken heart.

Julie was not the strongest heroine ever. She was broken emotionally and quite frankly, didn’t have a backbone. Her ex-boyfriend did a number on her and it all just went downhill from there.

One week a the cabin.
That’s all it took for Julie and Oliver’s lives to be changed forever. Rules were broken, secrets were shared, but the past kept coming back to haunt them.

Will they be able to move past their issues and have a HEA? I’m not sure...On to book two!!

Yes, this book ends in a cliffhanger, so be sure to have book 2 handy.

Sometimes you are required to throw all sense of sanity out of the window if you want to really enjoy a book and though none of the characters are particularly likable here,I somehow found myself liking the story as whole and wanting more of the same.

I want to shake some sense into the hero so much....like maybe even slap some sense into him...he was such an idiot... and the ending sure does not redeem him, and I hate it when I get surprised by a cliffhanger !
I am ranting but so far 2018 has been disappointing book wise...

Not true to life.No one is that naive or stupid.

Book was not believable. How many times can one fight and makeup before it becomes old news.I needed some more action than reading how lame the characters were. They thought like children over and over again. I like a book with believable emotions.

DNF. I couldn't get past the first three chapters, skimming the pages to see what I would miss didn't help me want to. Just couldn't get into it, characters seemed back and forth and too cliche for my liking.

It’s okay...

It’s not bad, but it’s not great. Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t feel the story toward the end.

An immature group of useless humans whining about how everyone needs to fix sh*t for them. I could have watched the news and been able to enjoy commercials more than I enjoyed this book.
