Seated down in the valleys of the Cottian Alps of Northern Italy was one of the most amazing bodies of baptized believers that ever existed. The Waldenses were apostolic in origin, orthodox in their beliefs, and zealous in their evangelism. The Waldenses preserved the Word of God and evangelized much of Europe for over 1000 years, while under great persecution by the Roman Catholic Institution. Their testimony has been an overwhelming challenge to believers for many centuries.
Chief park historian at Antietam National Battlefield for more than 26 years, he has written, edited, or contributed to several books. He has also written articles and book reviews for the magazines Civil War Times, Blue & Gray, and North & South.
The book has a great outlook of the Waldenses of northern Italy. I appreciate how the author compares the doctrine of the Waldenses to the Baptists of today and how the author shows the Waldenses to be the ancestors of modern Baptists. I learned a lot about the Christians who came before me and their importance in spreading God’s Word around the world.
