The Art of Moving On

Rate this book
Total decimation.

That’s how Emerald Evans-Green feels after “The Dan Thing” happened. He destroyed her self-confidence, and left her eating cartons of ice cream while listening to Beyonce’s "Lemonade" every day.

To make matters worse the enigma, Paxton Wright, who has done nothing but hassle Emmy for years, has increased his obnoxious teasing.

Luckily Emmy’s best friend, Ricky Rodriguez, is there to help Emmy pick up the pieces and remind her of who she really a confident leader and talented artist. Yet, Emmy still isn’t so sure.

Everyone else seems to be moving on with their lives; so why can’t Emmy? With constant reminders of Dan’s betrayal, her dad dating, and Paxton’s mind games, she can’t possibly move on; not after her heart has been shattered too many times.

Or can she?

What a nice young adult story about high school relationships.
Emmy has issues to work through and the story line gives enough detail to pull you into her character. Emmy manages to find her way through them with her loved ones.
I think most of us had hard past break-ups in our lives. This story weaves us through Emmy's and how she manages through it, sometimes not so gracefully likes us all.
The author provides us with a good ballance of wit, strange events, heart break, funny moments, and yet makes the characters loveable.

The author has another book out, 'ten times fast' by that I recommend!

I voluntarily review an ARC.
This is the second book of a standalone series I've read by this author.
This one is even better than Ten Times Fast. I loved the different romances, the dynamics with the parents, very good friends and hard decisions.
The outstanding storytelling and interesting characters make it hard to put this book away and to get some sleep. This YA romance is a good mix of sad and hot moments and is worth six stars. This outweighs that there are too many errors for my taste. I strongly advise the author to take editing seriously.

I picked this up looking for a good romance read, and I was not disappointed. Emmy is trying to move on after what happened with Dan, her best friend is trying to help her pick up the pieces of her life and it seems like Paxton is there to make things worse. The characters sprang to life off the page and you were hooked from the first chapter, pulled into their lives and wanting to know more. It was well-written and engaging and I adored Emmy and Ricky and grew to know more about Paxton. Overall, a delightful romance and one that people should love!

What a lovely story. I think I may have a little book crush on Paxton - he's my kind of crazy!
Emmy has a few issues throughout but manages to find her way through them with her loved ones. We've all lived past break-ups, so know how they feel and this story shows how Emmy does it.
It's just the right amount of strange, funny and lovable.
If you haven't read 'ten times fast' by the same author, then I'd recommend that too!

I thought this story was cute and had a good story line. We've all been through bad breakups and had to work through them, and that's exactly what Emmy is doing with the help of her best friend Ricky. Together they navigate the tricky waters of high school dating. Would love a follow up book to see how things are going for everyone in the future.

Light and sweet

This book was a quick sweet y/a romance, just what I was looking for. I've been reading a lot of books with heavy subject matter lately and this was just the break I needed. It was an easy read and super sweet. I loved Paxton but I wont lie, emmy and Ricky's friendship totally stole the show!
