Pierce Smith, aka PS, has been writing since his childhood. He is a young, single, sexy author who lives alone in the countryside; somewhere on the Planet Earth. He always gets lost in a fantasy/paranormal world of ghosts, shapeshifters, aliens and more. Most of the time his imagination, intuitions, dreams, and his love for them drift him away. He is into paranormal mysteries and hot erotic scenes. PS is a lover of food, coffee, and hot people. PS discovered that fantasizing is addictive and once you have a taste of it, you can't get rid of it. Thus, escaping from the reality, he writes few short stories. Sadly, most of them go unpublished. He is planning to include them on his blog and share them through his Newsletter. On the advice of his friends, PS started writing long epic novels and self-publishing. PS does his job seriously; does a hell lot of research before putting anything into his books, and interacts with the community around him, a lot. He enjoys his characters (in every possible way) before putting any of them on the paper. He lusts after them so that his readers can experience the same intensity in the characters. He loves talking a lot and flirts openly, enjoying the company of others.

Remember that episode of Friends, where Joey’s writing a letter of recommendation to the adoption agency and wants to sound smart? He discovers thesaurus on Word and writes something incomprehensible? That’s how Smith’s writing reads. I DNF’d at around 50 pages in because all Smith has done was wax, nonsensically about Drake, Mal and Cody circling each other on campus. That, in itself, wouldn’t be a problem, I don’t mind a slow build, but when Smith describes Cody walking past Max for several paragraphs, it became too much. Here it is, in all its glory...

“There he was, standing in the corridor, among his gang of professors. He was talking, but his lustrous provoking eyes were glued on Cody. Watching him carefully approaching towards him. Though Cody was heading towards his class, which was ahead of their gang, they were obstructing the path. Cody wouldn’t dare to push past. They were professors and he wouldn’t wish to be impolite. But Cody wanted his thirsty eyes to penetrate him and as Cody looked away, to his right side, he passed a smile to his little-known friends, yet still watched the bastard’s licentious stare exploring his body. He was all in a fume. He never knew summer came so early.

It always felt so good when someone stared longingly at him... ogled with a meaningful stare. Even when he wasn’t interested but loved that he was worth looking at. A personality different from others. Worth being someone’s eye pleasure. Part of someone’s fantasies and enough to bring someone to their knees. The urge with how they looked at him. The glance, which had some meaning, and smirk, which narrated all the sins manipulated by the heart, for him, only for him.

But, gosh, he was a teacher. How could Cody stare back at him with such a desirous thirst? Sighing deep, feeling like the Queen of the world, Cody stepped towards the gang. He knew Max was the centre of the eye of many girls, and the crush of numerous others. ‘Damn, he deserved it! Fucking hot sexy.’ The glued eyes of the girls told they were in love with him. “He looks so manly.” One of the girls murmured and Cody heard her. ‘Certainly they are correct.’ He stared at Max’s arms and the right amount of hair displayed at the top of the white hand, the sleeve folded back up to the elbow, and the tight pectoral muscles wrapped beneath the shirt were clear. He almost drooled. ‘This bastard is making me obsessed. I don’t want to show him how big a bitch I am.’

Max’s face was moving following Cody around as he walked. His eyes were bonded with Cody’s smile. His coppery the -amber colored eyes, shone with illicit desire at him. And his crush was broken down. Cody felt his knees becoming weak before him and losing his self-control. He dragged himself into class, otherwise he would be drooling for Max, before the entire gang of professors.”

This story has several triggers, one for sex, love, violence, and dark scenes. It is dripping with sex, dreams and intense emotion. I think I felt every emotion in reading this book.
Cody is a new to the big city college freshman with a positive attitude and makes new friends easily. Joe and Tina will make you laugh.
Max, one of his hot Professors will make you feel the heat he offers Cody. They were an online thing til Cody started college and they recognized each other from the Skype cam.
Drake, another hot Professor with a hard body and tenderness which draws Cody to him as well.
Cody goes through a full range of emotion from the hottest sex, to intense depression his friends try to help him through.
There is beautiful poetry you will not forget written throughout the story written by Cody.
The author constructed the cover art as well.

Reasons why I didn't even get through the first chapter
First- Sex on the first page (not even good that too)
Second- Some of the sentences didn't even make sense. I don't think the author is a natural English speaker?
Third- Tried using complicated words and failed horribly
Fourth- I didn't think "Gosh!" was used anymore
Fifth- I also don't think leering at your professor before even getting to class on the first day of college is acceptable in any part of the world. Male buff one that too (a thrashing is what you'd probably think you'll get)
Sixth- He talks to himself a lot out loud and not the funny sarcastic kind

I really tried not to be a critic. And I know, some of these problems might not be an issue for some people.

3.5 Stars. This is a dark and disturbing story about a naive college freshman interested in exploring a loving relationship and his sexuality but getting entrapped by his lusting obsession with two of his professors. I just felt this book was very angsty with Cody’s immaturity and emotional outbursts. There are severe dark overtones as his interactions with these two men increase and Cody’s mental health nosedives. This one will definitely put you through the wringer.

I believe this is Pierce Smith’s best book to date. Sometimes I do get emotional with books but this one took my emotions to whole other level. This book had some very dark moments and scenes but I feel they were crucial to the storyline and so the reader could completely relate to Cody.

Cody came to a brand new city to go to college and he was looking for his soulmate but he found so much more. But sometimes a naïve boy gets more than he bargains for. Two beautiful men and Cody’s heart and mind stayed constantly at war with whom to choose….Max or Drake. Go read this phenomenal book to found out whom Cody chose.

Bait by Pierce Smith takes the reader on an emotional rollercoaster. This is a story of forbidden lust, deceit, friendship, love, hopelessness, courage and trying to figure out ones path in life. Bait is not always an easy story to read. There are parts that are dark, but they are essential to the characters. The ending was one I did not see coming and it left me speechless. A unique and powerful story.

Dark and Unexpected

I was unsure what to expect from Pierce on this book, his other books are somewhat different. Now for some this possibly is good and some maybe not. His books lean towards the dark and different. I loved Cody from the very first page, young, innocent Cody who just wants love. Events unfold not Cody anticipated. A very interesting path young Cody chooses. This book contains dark events, be forewarned.

Wow. Buckle your seatbelts boys and girls cause this is an intense, emotional ride. The ups and downs that Cody experiences on his journey are dizzying. They’ll make you cry, sigh, worry, hope and sometimes even smile. But that’s life, right? Sometimes you’re happy, sometimes you’re sad but as long as you’re feeling you’re alive. Great read.

This is a really emotional story which I am not sure how the author managed to write. Cody is a young man living away from home for the first time while he begins his studies at university. Straight away he is drawn into a relationship with one of his tutors after realising Max is the man he was having hot online sex sessions with back home. Then there is Drake, his Cosmology tutor who is hot as hell and gave him a lift to his first lecture. We know relationships between tutors and their students are forbidden so how will this end for Cody?
An angst filled story about a student out of his depth which cannot end well for anyone involved!

I received this ARC from the very talented Author Pierce Smith ( also know as PS). When I read the blurb- I was very intrigued in this M/M story. I found myself wanting to find out what happened next to Cody- did he find love with tutors? Did they get discovered? And did he find the happiness he was so badly seeking for? This is a very emotional story – you will find yourself on a roller coaster of emotions. One moment your emotions are high then the next you will find them down. The characters have you all over the place. Not only in the college environment but also with their emotions. You never know what to expect next out of the characters. The author has done an excellent job with his writing and creativity. The characters are brought alive; his scenes in the story are so graphic. You are able to visualize them right before your eyes.

Bait is a different kind of love story. The writing throws the emotions Cody is feeling off the page and into the heart and mind of the reader. It is a sad and tragic story. Be prepared.

A beautiful story for Cody's cry to be loved. Young and innocent and immature he wanted his feelings to have be returned.
I have had so many emotions in this book, but the characters will do what they want. This includes poetry verses of Cody's thoughts along in the story. Some scenes include some hot bondage. Cody is so innocent that he doesn't hear what others are trying to tell him friends and lovers.
Cody's first day at college he meets Drake giving him a ride. Drake was 32 and a Prof of Cosmology.. However when meets his Prof in Mathematics its his online lover Max from when he was home.
Joseph was his housemate he shared his apartment with become freinds. Joe tries to look out for him with the help of Tina.
Triggers: Dark Scenes which will have you reaching for the tissues.. I can't write which triggers cause it will be a major spoiler. Depression is one. but to say Cody will experience the true nastiness of the world and its homophobic views.

Bait was a very different read, I struggled through the first half of the book, somewhat confused but the more I read the more sense the story made. This definitely is not a love story but could be described as a taboo romance where two professors take complete advantage a a young, innocent student, never appearing to really caring about his total welfare.

I found reading this story was very emotional at times and there could be some define trifgers. Not recommended if you struggle with anti-gay violence. I struggle for that a teacher could observe a horrendous attack and yet the school or police never appeared to be involved afterwards.

Such an intriguing dark story and there were
definitely moments of excellence throughout. Whilst I get that he is young and naive, I did sometimes struggle with Cody the main character - at times he comes across very immature. This certainly didn’t distract me from the story as it’s a real page turner and the scenes and situations that Cody experiences had me panting but also shedding tears.

Star rating - ★★
Cover – The cover is the best part

This book is always being posted in groups on Facebook, so I gave in to a new author. Thank God it was only on KU because I'll never read this again. I want to say first, I give the author props for his hard work, and I can feel his passion for his characters and that is the reason I'm giving it two stars, plus, the cover is great in my opinion. It sells the book, but sadly, the story does not. I just didn't relate to any of the characters, they were forced and not portrayed in a manner that was likable. There's more telling than showing.

Since this is always important to me, I have to mention that there are no trigger warnings mentioned in the book. There is a one liner in the blurb saying "dark scenes", so let me list what may trigger those that read: Suicide(attempt, talk), homophobia, depression, and violence. With this, I do feel the author did need trigger warning, not just a dark scene mention.

Editing: Was bad. Very bad. Sadly, you can tell that English is not the first language of the author and perhaps he needs an editor to help with that. The formatting was shifted to the right, so that threw me off too.

I want to start out by saying, I really liked this book. I could not put it down! This book was very dark and my heart constantly ached for this boy once I realized what was going on. I say, “boy” because 19 is still young. Freshmen in college have very little life experience, they may as well still be children. It’s so easy to end up in the position Cody was in. I’m not talking about the bait part, but being so infatuated with his two professors that he mistakes something as Love that isn’t nowhere near what love is. And then to have it so cruelly brought to his attention what was really going on, that’s really heartbreaking. As I was reading I realized Cody needed some serious mental help. When Drake suggested Cody get some counseling, I knew this wasn’t going to end well. Now I didn’t exactly guess the ending but Cody was really struggling. I was routing for Drake so badly too. I would’ve never guessed they were both playing him. Such a heartbreaking story, definitely worth reading.

Cody has come from an affluent family in Georgia hoping to find his true love in New York. He had been chatting on line with a sexy man and finds he is his Math Professor. On his first day he gets a ride to his class by another sexy professor.
Cody is very naive and hopes one of these men will be his one and only... true love. Cody finds life on his own is much harder and lonelier than he thought.

This story was good. It was angsty and dark and sad. There is some beautiful poetry Cody written and the end broke my heart.

I’m going to admit I had a difficult time reading the story and almost quit several times. But I took the book for review and decided to go on. Even though I cried at the end I was glad I finished.
I do feel there should be some warnings of talk of suicide, taking advantage of a youth , lots of angst.

All in all the book isn’t bad the cover is great the story just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Pierce took me on a journey inside the heart and soul of a young intense passionate young man. I was drawn into Cody's life, away at college for the first time, free to make his own decisions and explore his sexuality. He finds himself on an emotional rollercoaster between two of his professors, full of lust and passionate sex. Almost like he has a darkness inside of him that demands to be filled with love and lust. Bait does have it's dark moments and an ending that just took my breath away.

Pierce is so captivating in his writing, and his way of describing things is downright poetic. He has become one of my favorites!

Bait by Pierce Smith hits the heart and soul!

Bait is a amazing story of innocence lost, Pierce's story of the young Cody and how much he wanted to be loved by only one person. Pierce Smith brings you to your knees on this gut wrenching story. I totally recommend it but be prepared to cry out for this beautiful soul that just wanted love in his life. I cried as I write this review. I hope you read this regardless it is a amazing m/m story that needs to be read with an open mind and heart.

I made it 40% before i couldn't even skim anymore. This book is a mess and I don't know how it has any 5☆ reviews. I wanted something angsty and this sounded perfect but after Cody started talking shit about bi people like they can't stay faithful and then slapping someone in class for what appears to be no reason I'm done.
