Charlie’s dream of seeing the Northern Lights has turned into a full-blown nightmare of cracking ice and a dead friend. Her best friend survived with the help of a knight in shining armor, well he’s a freaking dragon and Charlie’s world is about to change forever. After crashing into the snow they take shelter in a cave, which only seems to bring problems to the trio’s way. While his light blue eyes bring her in, his words keep pushing her away.

Darius has always made it clear, he doesn’t want a mate. He hopes having sex with the attractive Charlie will satisfy his dragon. When Charlie unknowingly claims Darius as she bites him, he’s fucking pissed. He won’t claim her. But his dragon reminds Darius of one small problem. In three freaking days his dragon will take over and go crazy if he doesn’t claim Charlie as his mate. He questions his choice when Charlie’s life is endangered.

The mating bond isn’t their only problem as polar bears and wolves threaten them in the cave and Darius has to make a choice, let Charlie die or change her into a dragon.

When they get back to safety, the little woman will test every ideal Darius has ever had about mating. With the impending war with the Nevada Clan every little choice could bring them together or pull them apart.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I was intrigued when I first saw this book because I had just read another dragon story and really liked it and was hoping to have another great dragon story to add to my collection. After the first chapter I stopped reading it due to Darius’s constant whining about not wanting a mate. I mean my eye started twitching with how many times he said that. He started coming across as a pouty teenager being asked to take his cousin to the school dance….I don’t want to…you get my meaning. I thought it was a free book and figured good riddance then I realized it was an ARC and I had to finish reading it. Lets just say he did nothing to change my opinion that he was a whiny brat at all during the story. He told poor Charlie his unfortunate accidental mate how many times he didn’t want her or more accurately that he didn’t want a mate.

His constant diatribe about not wanting a mate or having to lose himself because he was mated made me want to give this a two star rating. Charlie was the only thing that saved this story from getting a two star rating. As female leads go she had a backbone, she rolled with the punches and was very resourceful. At one point she started making plans in case her reluctant mate decided to up and leave her, smart woman.

Darius only started paying attention to Charlie when other men showed interest in her. Other than that he just made her feel so unwanted, can’t see how with his constant whining she could fall in love with him. I felt so sorry for his dragon being saddled with such a selfish human as his counterpart. Now Darius’s dragon I liked. It was pretty much hey she makes us happy I want to keep her and make her happy.

After reading the blurb for “Gerald” from this author I am now dubbing this series “The reluctant male dragon series.” It seems that “Gerald” also had a case of the I don’t want a mate thing going.

There are many things within this book that don’t make a lot of sense, I mean Charlie was made into a dragon in a matter of minutes it seems, she was able to fly and do all things dragon without any training. I mean even babies have to be shown how to walk. With her being made that quickly some of the other plot points kind of go a little sideways when you put it all together.

This book is cute. It's about a sexy dragon named Darius, who wants all the side dishes without having the main course. He gets into a little situation and find himself dealing with a woman , and her best friend. Little did he know that his life, would change forever. Darius tell us how to adjust to things you don't want but absolutely need. I love paranormal books and would gladly keep reading Mckayla.

This is the 1st book I’ve read and reviewed for McKayla Schutt and I loved it. I don’t need to write any spoilers because McKayla says it all in her blurb. Fantastic cover and a really great read and storyline. I loved the characters Charlie and Darius and everything they went through to become mates. Great read and I can’t wait for the next book. I recommend this book and after reading this book McKayla is in my top 10 favourite authors.

Wow!!! This one was like Darius. Very intense. There is more danger and drama plus we get more information on dragons and hunters. I can’t wait for Zane’s story. I also want to know what will happen with Magnis. Will he find a mate before he goes crazy? It will have to be a woman with a strong will and sense of self. What a great world McKayla Schutt has created.

This is book two in the series and continues the story line. Darius is a returning character and Charlie is a great addition to the story line. This book could be read as a stand alone but I would recommend reading book 1 first to get the most from the back story. This author never disappoints and I will recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a good PNR and or dragons.

Darius was out patrolling the Tundra when encounters three humans and hearing the ice cracking he races to save them. Dragon shifter Darius was out flying a patrol over the Tundra when he spots three humans then hears the ice cracking and rushes towards them. Two fall into the crevice and the third is using an ice axe to try and stop her fall. He rescues her and she begs him to save her friends but when he looks it is too late for the male who has been impaled on a spar of ice but the female is still alive. He sets about getting her out and narrowly does as the ice shifts again. The two woman are devastated at the loss. Darius look at the first one he save and his dragon says "Mine" but Darius doesn't want a mate as he thinks they weaken you. A fast paced adventure curl up and enjoy.

Loved it! So very well written and unique in that I have not read another like it. Intrigue and romance written for adults with steamy sex. I do not recall any swearing which is rare and so very pleasing to me! This story ends well, but I was left wondering about Magnis. Definitely a novella and I loved that as well. I can't wait to read more of this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I really liked how Darius kept trying to tell himself he didn't want or need anyone even though his dragon had other ideas and Charlie was a great strong heroine to match his stubborness. The story flowed well and the characters were really likable so much so that I hadn't read book one and will be doing so now.

An erotic paranormal story that is well written about Darius as his attitude towards having a mate and children for the future changes. There is adventure, hot sex, dragon mates, danger and tragedy's throughout this story of Charlie and Darius's relationship. The story grabs your attention and keeps you reading as the many twists and turns in the story happen.

Love the character of Charlie. Would have liked Darius better if he had been a little less "A mate will make me weak" and had an epiphany about how it really didn't and had admitted it.
Good second story in the series but now we have to wait for several months for the next one.

Darius was flying over the Tundra to his favorite place to think. He gets there and just sat down when he here's voices and ice cracking.
Charlie, Amanda, & Max all go climbing to see the northern lights. The ice starts cracking and that's when they know that they're in trouble.
I just couldn't put this book down.
McKayla does it again.

Great story. I need to go read the first book of the series. He saves her and they end up sheltered in a cave for a couple of reasons. What he thought would fix things only made them worse. It is exciting, hot, emotional and so much more. I recommend it. I was given a review copy by booksprout and voluntarily review it.

The second book in this series and I am looking forward to reading the next book. This book drew me in from the first page and would not let go until I had finished the book. The Drama, suspense, the good and evil shifters, everything Charlie had to go through. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and liked it so I also bought it.

I enjoyed Darius and Charlie's story .I did read book two in the series first , but was able to read the story seamlessly .
C'mon Who doesn't love a Sexy Dragon and a woman who will take charge and go after what she wants ..consequences be damned.
There was action , adventure , other shifters and the main characters had chemistry , even when fighting their attraction .

Absolutely loved this book. The first book was good by I loved Darius story much more than Gerald's. Darius is stubborn and Charlie is a woman that knows what she wants. These two personalities clash and meld together in more ways than one. Highly recommend this book to everyone that loves dragon shifters. This was by far my favorite read of the 2018 year.

Short story with Dragon shifter Darius fighting against the mating pull because he thinks a mate will make him weak. He realizes a mate can only make him stronger when he falls in love with Charlie. I bought the paperback.

RefeDarius shows to what lengths we can go to, to protect what we hold so dear. We can surprise ourselves as to what our true nature is. Darius thinks mates and children are for those that want just attention but he finds within himself that they are not. He has been wrong. He thought that their (his brothers and other males in his clan), needing mates and children was a weakness that thankfully he did not want or need Darius has found with all his strengths and abilities to be free a mate, in charlie and with her a family really is what makes him whole and free.
To keep them safe and himself whole it will amaze him what he will do and can do. He finds he is a better man and dragon with charlie and his family than without. Without he realizes he was just a shell and shadow of a man and dragon, but with them he is the leader they must have and the protection that is needed to survive.
Darius is a fantastically written book that i totally enjoyed reading from beginning to end.
