Her voice is the key to unlocking an ancient power. But can Molly live with the consequences of opening the door?
After discovering that she is descended from the Sirens, Molly’s life is thrown into chaos. But now, an ancient object of great power may give her the chance to protect herself, and those she cares about most. The only catch: the full-blooded Sirens have it, and they have no intention of letting anyone steal what’s theirs. As time runs out and danger mounts, it gets harder to know who to trust, or to be sure that the mission Molly set out on is one she wants to complete.
Only one thing is certain—the choice she makes now is one she can never take back.
I write urban fantasy stories filled with magic, romance and the occasional centaur. I generally fuel my creativity with an insatiable appetite for reading and frequent episodes of Doctor Who. (And lots and lots of Diet Coke.) My love for language is expressed, both in my writing, and in my day job as a sign language interpreter. I live just outside of Washington DC with my husband, my kids, and my badly behaved Australian Shepard.
Magic Cries is the second book in the Echoes Series by Miriam Greystone. As this is the second book of the series and picks up where Magic Calls (Book One) left off, it shouldn’t be read as a standalone. I recommend reading book one before starting this one, to get the continuation of the storyline, and all the other important information. I have really loved reading Ms. Greystone’s work- she writes such spellbinding fantasy, so vividly detailed that I am immediately swept into the story, following along with the characters as the story unfolds. Her story-telling skills are superb, and as her story wove its magic I became fully engrossed, unable to put the book down. I became so immersed in what was happening in the story that I lost all track of time and ended up reading it all in one sitting. The characters are wonderful- fully developed individuals, with complex personalities, who are all somewhat flawed- but this just adds to their appeal. The story is told from several points of view- Molly, Jake, Evie and Bea’s. This is a true multi-layered story, woven so beautifully that each layer and point of view blend seamlessly into the story. Another of Ms. Greystones many talents. After the first book ended on a cliff-hanger, I have been waiting expectantly for this book to be released. I had high expectations and I must admit that I was slightly concerned that this book may not match the firsts appeal. But I needn’t have worried, as Ms. Greystone lived up to all my expectations and definitely didn’t let me down. Even though we get the answers to one of the major plot lines, there is still so much more I want to know. So, now I can’t wait for Book three to be released so I can see what Ms. Greystone has in store for the characters (and me).
Magic Cries (Echoes Book 2) by Miriam Greystone is the second book in her Echoes series. I highly suggest reading the first book before this one, it will help enhance your enjoyment of this series. I enjoy this author's writing style and her easy flowing story. Her attention to details make me feel as if I am one of the characters. In this installment of this series this book is about making choices that you can't take back and about secret that could be better left in the past. Molly's life has been turned upside down since she has found out that she comes from the Sirens. She goes on a journey of trying to recover a powerful object that could save her and those she cares about. Her problem becomes when she discovers that the Sirens have the object and to take it from them could be dangerous. She begins to question is she wants to finish her journey and she doesn't know who to trust and not to trust. The Sirens have not intention of giving up the powerful object and Molly is running out of time. Will Molly make the right choice and be able to save herself and those she loves? I love Molly's character. She is strong, full of attitude and she doesn't let anyone push her or her friends around. She has a heart that in my opinion sometimes gets her into some trouble. Molly and the other characters in this story took me on a few twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat and other times waiting to see what was lurking in the shadows. They certainly take you on a fantasy roller coaster ride that you won't want to stop until the end. The secondary characters are supportive and both good and bad. They help make the story into what it is. I felt bad for them in parts because they all seem to be fighting demons of some sort but if they were different it would change the story and that doesn't need to happen. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens to Molly as she learns about her power and if she is able to save her and those she loves.
This is a good fantasy series. It flows well and all the characters are very detailed. You can just tell Molly is a strong lady who doesn't take crap from anyone. This book follows the first one, thankfully. Her decisions in this book are life or death important. Secrets are revealed. New characters are introduced and we still get everyone's perspective with the POV changes. All around an awesome read.
I love this series! I don't think there is anything about these books I don't like. This book starts where book 1 left off. Sirens I don't think get enough books. This book was just one I could not put down you should try this series and this author! Great stuff! LOVE, LOVE!!! *This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.*
Magic Cries by Miriam Greystone is another 5-star read! It's book two in her Echoes series one that left me speechless! Miriam is a phenomenally talented author whose completely original storyline easily pulls you in, this book like the first hooked me right from the start, I was unable to put it down as I just had to read until the end. I had high expectations for this book as I absolutely love Magic Calls, book one, and I was not disappointed, like the first book I was mind blown as I processed everything that I was reading.
This storyline is addicting, action packed, riveting, unexpected, and so unique. It's a story like no other making it so memorable. Honestly, it's these types of stories that got me into reading in the first place. A book I never wanted to end!
This story continues right where the first book left off, so it cannot be read as a standalone. Besides Magic Calls is one of my all-time favorite books, one that shouldn't be missed. The main characters continue their journey in this story and many intriguing and interesting new characters are introduced, adding so much more depth to the story.
The amount of detail in this story makes it incredibly easy to picture everything playing out. Though there are many individual stories going on throughout the book it never gets confusing as they all seem to tie together. I was able to connect with all the main characters as I read from their POV and I felt more and more invested as the story went on. I can't wait to see how their stories play out. I would absolutely recommend this book and series to anyone looking for their next read!!
Ok so I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this book. After reading the first one I was left with so many questions that kind of got answered in this one...we are still following Molly, but there are 2 other stories moving right along with hers that I could just tell were going to tie together somehow. Just like the first story the chapters are clearly marked so you know where your at and who you are checking in on at the time and again it feels like little cliffhangers throughout the whole book making you crave the next chapter that covers that story.
There is way too much going on for me to try to summarize anything, I’m just going to say that the action never stops, normally with so many players involved and so many different aspects in this book I would get confused but the way this author handles it all it is clear as a bell what’s going on all the time. The smooth flow is awesome and before I knew it I was done, and of course I wanted to throw my kindle when I read that last word and the page wouldn’t turn showing 99% read. It ends on a soft cliffhanger, not one that will have you banging your head on your desk but one that makes you want the next one as soon as possible.
I sincerely love this series, I sincerely love this author and can not wait to see where she takes Molly and the rest of the characters in part 3.
Start with book 1, do not even try to pick this one up till you read the first...there is way too much lead in that has to be read before starting this one, and not to mention the first book is amazingly awesome as well.
a brilliant read about things not always being fixable. Miriam Greystone continues her spellbinding series as Molly races to find information from a powerful siren to find a magical goblet. whilst doing so, she fails to notice Jake is struggling until it is too late. Bras story continued with surprises and twists in her own fairy tale that is heartfelt and will make you cry. Evie travels to find the Watchers who are trying to stop the goblet being found. But to warn them, she will have to pay a heavy price to save them. Will the characters make it out in one piece and make it through dark times, or will they break trying? a brilliant read. well developed plot that was fast paced and hard to put down, full of surprises and twists. well developed characters in Bea and Jake and Molly. Jake's struggles of believing he will never get better was emotive and relatable. Bea's desire to live each moment to the full was perfect and moving. I also loved the stunning visual detail throughout the novel. in particular the detail of the octopi and the moons on the ceiling with the blood. the settings of visual detail were stunning in beauty like the lighthouse and it's beach and the trees in the cave and pearls on the water were beautifully written. I also loved the twists on the legends of the moon and the angels which was amazingly written and an intriguing new take on myths and angelic creatures. the use of small props with relic qualities was perfectly written, emphasising how small things can have great consequences perfectly. Overall, a beautiful novel and I would give it five stars.
Magic Cries by Miriam Greystone is the second in the Echoes series. I was dying to read this novel after devouring the first one and it didn’t disappoint. From page one we are thrust back into the familiar world of Echoes and Legacies and we hold on tight for the ride. I finished it in one day!! In this second book we delve deeper into the underground world we discovered in book one and get more idea of the powers that Molly and her new friends have. We also catch up with Evie and her friend Bea who have become involved with Nephilim. This was another enchanting novel which I really enjoyed. It has lots of different aspects that lovers of fantasy novels will enjoy: Fallen angels, humans with special powers, healing pools made of mother of pearl…the list is endless! The description of the environments they all inhabit were really detailed and left me stunned and imagining myself there, especially on the sandy beaches! I also enjoyed the exploration of addiction and how we may be able to heal an addict’s body but, in the end, they need to heal their own head. I imagine this was a difficult subject to write about, but the author did not shy away from it and allowed the story to follow its own course. It was really clever to have this sub-story running alongside the bigger supernatural story of Andrew, Molly and the quest for the mysterious all-powerful goblet. Another triumph of a novel from Miriam Greystone. Many thanks!
Magic Cries is Book 2 in the Echoes Series and Magic Calls should absolutely be read first as this story takes up where the first one left off.
The Echoes Series is the second series I’ve read by this author. The way she writes is so descriptive and has such a flow that I can visualize everything in my imagination as I am reading the words. Each time a new character is introduced, we know they play an integral role in the story. There isn’t a lot of wasted words in the stories.
The world building involves all different types of characters from Sirens and Legacies and Echoes and families of choice who protect each other through everything. There is an entanglement that is so strong and makes so much sense as it all plays off.
One of my favorite quotes from this book is: “Unseen is not the same as gone. Sometimes threats are greatest when they swim beneath the surface of our sight. When we feel pain, we know we are sick and we need treatment. But if we since the pain while the sickness still grows, how can we know what ails us?”
The writer describes herself someone who writes “urban fantasy stories filled with magic (and) suspense…” This series is definitely this plus a whole lot more.
I would absolutely recommend this series and this author to my young cousins.
Magic Cries is the second book in the Echoes series by Miriam Greystone. I recommend reading the first book in the series before you read this one. Even though Magic Cries wraps up a major plot line, the ending does leave the story open to continue.
As with the first book, this one took me on an emotional roller coaster. I think this one may have even been more intense than the first one in some ways. I really enjoy the way the author explores the story from the events that several characters experience rather than just one or two characters; I think that is what weaves it together in such a fascinating way.
Molly has had her life turned upside down after she found out that her voice carries power. She’s learning how to control the power, but because she wasn’t raised knowing the ins and out of magic life, she is having to rely on others to teach her how it is all supposed to work.
When Molly agrees to help the Echoes find a source that could increase their power, all she is thinking about is keeping her loved ones safe, but she soon learns that there may be more to their motives than she was led to believe. Molly is faced with a moral dilemma, and once her decision is made, there is no going back.
Magic Cries ( Echoes Book 2 ) By Miriam Greystone ⅘ Stars
Magic Cries is the second book in the Echoes Series by Miriam Greystone. Since this is a series, I highly suggest you read the first book ahead of time. Just so you can get a better understanding of the characters and what’s going on as well. I can’t recommend this author enough! I love her writing style and the easy flow to the story!! It’s a story, you will not be able to put down! Once you pick it up, you truly do forget the world around you! Well, that happened with me anyways !! This story continues with Molly, who found out she’s a siren. Her life has done a complete turn around since she found out. She embarks on a journey looking for a very powerful object to save the ones she loves and cares about. She finds out who can she trust and not trust at all. She knows to find this powerful object is extremely dangerous. But will she put herself in the line of danger to save herself and her loved ones? This is a must read book! It’s full of twists and turns!! It will definitely take you on a roller coaster ride like no other! Great job , Miriam! I’m looking forward to see what’s next in the series!!
Magic Cries is the second book in the Echoes series by Miriam Greystone. This is not a standalone book. I would suggest that you go and read Magic Calls (Echoes Book 1). Ms. Greystone you have outdone yourself and you are forgiven for the cliffhanger at the end of Magic Calls. She has the amazing ability of storytelling. She weaves in and out of scenes that you can vividly see the scene in your mind’s eye with the other story off in the corner. When you start reading a book, sometimes you have to get used to how the author relays the story. This story is told from different points-of-view and Ms. Greystone is a master at this story telling. Magic Cries has all the elements of a great fantasy genre story. She has magic, sirens, spells, fallen angels, and human with special powers.
The main character in the series is Molly. She recently found out that she comes from the Sirens. She is trying to understand the power she has and what it means to have this power. Molly is strong and is trying to make good choices to save everyone she loves, but is it enough. The stories is unfolding and one you need to read to find out the answer to that question.
In some book series I've read, the second book can fall flat on story lines, details, secondary character development, ect. I am ecstatic to say this book does not fall into that pit. We pick up the where the first book left off almost immediately and Molly and her friends are thrown into almost nonstop action. Molly is on a quest of sorts to find a powerful magical object that could be the key to protecting herself and her loved ones. The full blooded Sirens currently possess it and there is no way they will give it up to a half nodded siren without a bloody fight. They would lose immense amounts of power and that is something they will not abide by. Jake's story was almost too real for me. He begins to spiral and believe he will never get better and I think one of the points of this particular plot line is that sometimes you can't fix everything or save everyone no matter how hard you try but the point is that you did try. Those parts really spoke to me and I am thankful for that. I was constantly on the edge of my seat wanting to hear what happened next and I really can't get enough of these characters
Magic Cries by Miriam Greystone is the second book in her Echoes series. Just as good as the first this book follows on with Molly as the main character still. I would definitely recommend reading these in order to rally appreciate the full story and background of this series.
Molly is slowly adjusting to her life having been turned upside down. Learning what it means to come from the sirens Molly finds herself having to help those she holds dear to her. How? By finding an ancient magical object. The only problem is the Sirens hold this object and are not willing to let it go. Molly had to decide what to do - risk everything to go for the object, or risk everything to leave it be. With a difficult choice ahead of her, Molly’s life might be about to turn upside down once more.
I loved getting to read more about Molly and her journey. Written as well as the first I found myself taken along for the ride yet again with the writing style and storyline. I really hope to see more from this series but either way I will be looking more into Miriam Greystone.
Magic Cries ( Echoes Book 2 ) by Miriam Greystone is the second book in her Echoes series.I highly recommend you read the first book in this series I had the hardest time putting this down once I started reading. This is the story about Molly.Since Molly found out she comes from the Sirens and since that moment her life has been turned upside down. She finds herself going on a journey trying to recover a powerful object that could not only save her but also those she cares about. One big problem the Sirens have what she needs and it could turn very dangerous. Molly begins to question rather she's doing the right thing or not.The Sirens aren't planning on giving up the object and she's running out of time.Does Molly make the right choice is she going to be able to save herself and those she loves?I loved everything about this book and there was even a few twists and turns. I highly recommend you read this book especially if you want to know how it ends.
I can't wait to see what this author brings us next
This is the second book in the Echoes series but the first one I have read. I have done it before reading books out of order. I was a little confused at first being as I believe not having read the first book so was a bit lost at first of the flow of the book and the plot and storyline so far but that was soon fixed.
I enjoyed this book all be it a new genre for me and I will be reading book one. I like supernatural books so this fits into my collection well. I did struggle with the layout of the chapters a little but as I progressed into the book things began to gel together and I began to really route for Molly and Jake. This book really highlights the scenario of how one group that is jealous of another can cause so much chaos and also how even one person can make a difference and help bring the fight to an end. I look forward to reading the first book and will also reread this one to get the sequence right and also a better understanding. I will definitely be reading more of this author!
Magic Cries by Miriam Greystone made me cry. And that’s quite a feat. I loved this book so much. Ms. Greystone certainly knows how to wring every emotion out of her readers. I was so sad when it ended. I hope to read many, many more books by Ms. Greystone. Magic Cries is the second book in the Echoes series and Ms. Greystone has certainly outdone herself with this one. She has written her world and her characters so well that it was impossible for me to put it down. Right up until the end, I was enthralled by her imaginative world building talent. Ms. Greystone is a gifter author who is able to effortlessly draw you out of your world and into hers. And, what a world it is. Fabulously detailed and flawlessly written, Ms. Greystone brings you all the love, fear and hope that could ever be expressed by the written word and makes you feel it. I loved, loved, loved not only this book, but the whole series, so far. More please!!! Bravo and thank you to Miriam Greystone!!
This is the second book in this series and i LOVED IT! I can not wait to read the 3rd. Because I read the first everything was easy to follow for me so I recommend reading the first book in the series and you will be glad you did. It's just as great as this one. The book starts after the first one ends, and it starts off with a bang. I love the main character Molly so much, and enjoy watching her as she struggles with her new powers even in this book. She's such a well rounded and developed character with flaws that almost anyone can relate to (minus the siren call of course). In this story, we meet a whole bunch of new characters, and are re-introduced to the handful of returning ones. It's so hard not to spoil this story!!! I can say this book was definitely page turning, so suspense, and the dialogue was spot on. The characters felt real, and natural. It's hard to put this book down once you start it, you will want to place all your plans aside to finish this sequel.
This was such a good book! It picks up right where book 1 finishes so they should be read in order. Fantasy stories are a little out of me genre comfort zone but this one was such a fantastic read! The author wrote the story in a real engaging way and I found that once I had started it I couldn’t put it down. Molly, for me, continued to be a nice strong character. We were also introduced to some new secondary characters too in this book. I like that the author wrote the story in differing points of view, I find that it always me as a reader to fully understand the characters in the story. The originality of this series has been great; Miriam Greystone is a very talented author! The flow of her stories is excellent along with the pace. Character development is excellent and the books have been a joy to read. I will definitely be looking to read more from the author in the future.
I’m very happy that this book picked up where part one ended. It had been a while that I had read the first book. I fell right into the story and enjoyed it tremendously. It has romance, some drama and a lot of action. The plot thickened and the characters grew. A new character was introduced (Lena) whom I would really like to know better so I’m hoping there is a part three.
In this book Molly searches for a powerful object which she thinks can save her and the ones she loves. She realizes that not everyone can be trusted and has to make some serious decisions. She has a big heart and tends to see the best in everyone. Some people are just mean and she learns the hard way.
I wasn’t too happy with the ending and I’m really hoping that there is a third book. I want to know exactly what happened with Molly and Jake.
Magic Cries is the second book in the Echoes series by Miriam Greystone and doesn't disappoint. It is full of magic and wonder, mystery and deceit, love and heartbreak, action and drama and a great follow on from the first book. In this book we see a lot of stories interwoven with others to make a whole. Each character’s story is told from their POV and each has a part to play towards the climax you never saw coming.
Jake is better but he is not well, having an addiction never goes away but he has been trying to be strong for Molly. Molly is still coming to terms with understanding just what she is and has decided what matters in life and what she will do to keep that.
There were a few tears shed whilst reading this story and from the ending there is more to come. I can't wait for the next book!!
I give Magic Cries (Echoes Book 2) by Miriam Greystone, 5 stars. This review may contain spoilers from book 1.
This a wonderful second book in a series. Not only does it show the growth of Molly as she realizes her powers, it also show the growth of the other characters in this series. Molly is thrown into another "mission" that is supposed to help her kind. But are they just out for themselves or do they really want to help?
The story is quite engrossing. I could not put this book down. The same cast of characters is back again, as well as some new ones. This book and the people are written so well, you feel like you are there. Not to mention, the lines are blurred as to who is good ask who is not. This makes it all the more interesting for me. I like being able to use my own judgement.
This is a wonderful book in a wonderful supernatural series and I highly recommend it.
Magic Cries (The Echoes - Book 2) was a lot more of the same as the first book. The characters really don't develop much more beyond Molly's power developing and Jake accepting his lot in life. Andrew, the villain, is excessively one-sided, which makes the story that much less appealing. And the introduction of the Watchers is the only real excitement aside from the last few pages of the book! I must say, I did enjoy Evie & Bea. They were very good characters - possibly because they are selfless and good?
I also received this book in exchange for a review, so I struggled through to the finish, but I really do not think I'll be reading book 3...if there is one. There's just not enough in it to keep me entertained, so it was a good thing the books actually aren't much longer than a 2-3 hour read each.
Magic Cries (Echoes Book 2) by Miriam Greystone is the second book in her amazing fantasy series. Although not necessary, I recommend reading the first book prior to this to better understand the history. This book was engaging from start to finish with great flow and transitions. Really enjoy her creativity with descriptions of this fantasy world as it makes me feel like I’m right there with the characters. I highly suggest reading the first book before this one, it will help enhance your enjoyment of this series. I enjoy this author's writing style and her easy flowing story. Her attention to details make me feel as if I am one of the characters. This focuses on Molly’s life and the path she chooses. Molly is such a strong character and so much fun to read. Can’t wait for what’s next!
Magic Cries by Miriam Greystone is book 2 in the Echoes series. I love this series! It is filled with magic and excitement. The characters are extremely well written and the story flows perfectly. I highly recommend you read the first book in the series for the background knowledge. Miriam Greystone did a great job of letting you experience this fantasy story from many different points of view and making it streamlined!
This book reads as the other half of the story begun in Magic Calls.
I really like how the author is not afraid to delve into some really dark and painful subjects. She does so with finesse and without making the book feel too grim or sad.
This is not exactly a feel good story. But it is a story that will leave you feeling deeply satisfied and looking forward to the next book.
This book includes such powerful, raw emotion and takes you on so many twists and turns you never know what to expect next. I love the way this author writes and you can tell that the writer pours every ounce of her soul into the book. Kept my attention throughout the entire book and the characters are made to feel like family and that you genuinely care what happens to them. Amazing work.
