You'd Better Put Some Ice On That: How I Survived Being Raped by Bill Clinton

Rate this book
In 1999, Juanita Broaddrick burst into the public consciousness when she accused President Bill Clinton on national television of raping her in 1978 as he ran for governor in Arkansas. It was a TV appearance she dreaded and never wanted, but felt compelled to squash the it was rape. Now, with award-winning former investigative journalist Nick Lulli, she tells her story of survival; from the assault at the hands of the future president, to the veiled threats by a seemingly complicit presidential wannabe Hillary Rodham Clinton; Broaddrick believes now is the time to set the record straight and ensure victims everywhere are believed.

I loved this book. It details, in her own words, the horrible and traumatic experience of Juanita Broadwick, her rape by Bill Clinton and the threats by Hillary Clinton to shut her up. It demonstrates a complicit media that worked very hard to discredit her as well as women's organizations that should have been supportive of her; but chose blind allegiance to Bill Clinton and Hillary over a woman who had been victimized by both. It is compelling and should be read and reread any time a Clinton runs for any public office, including dog catcher. The book, however, suffers significantly from extremely poor editing. Basic grammatical errors, Mis-spellings and shoddy work in editing plague the book. This should not be reflective on Ms. Broadwick, rather on the publishing company.

What an amazing woman. I find it terrifying that
a man as powerful as Bill Clinton can continue to get away with
rape. I find it terrifying that our news media covers
it up. I also find it terrifying that the supposed
women's movement has chosen to ignore this because
of political gain. Everyone should read this book.
You never know when something like this could happen
to you. Well done Ms. Broaddrick you are a hero.

Not well-written. I don't know the truth, I wasn't there. So can't comment on that. But the book itself is bad.

Even though Juanita has a ghost writer - the book falls short on so many levels - it's now sitting in my garbage can - it's that bad!

Great short but informative read. It almost as if we had sat down for a cup of tea and conversation about her life. She didn’t wish to have the rape define her life so she tells you her life story simply. The rape by Bill Clinton is a horrible nightmare that has caused her great pain. She is a remarkable woman. I’d recommend this one pal.

Finished this slim book in two days. Powerful telling of her rape by Bill Clinton, but so much more. Ms. Broaddrick is a strong woman who is no longer fearful of the Clintons. Perhaps her upbringing by a difficult mother toughened her up. Perhaps her compassion as a nurse and intellect as a successful businesswoman helped. I cheered when she triumphed. Good for you, Juanita. Good for you.

I recommend this book for anyone who has been raped, for anyone who doesn't understand why Trump voters exits, for anyone who roots for the underdog and abhors abuse of power, and for anyone who wants to read about a woman who never wanted to be thrust into national limelight but was.

Warning: This book is full of grammatical errors. I understand that the author was unable to find a publishing house that would work with her. Shame on them. And shame on the media.

While I commend Juanita Broaddrick for having the courage to tell her story, having good intentions unfortunately doesn't necessarily result in a worthwhile book. This slim pamphlet was in need of a professional editor (and I find it strange that she has a professional journalist as a co-author. I would think he would be hesitant to put his name on the cover given the quality of the writing). It should be noted that apparently Mrs. Broaddrick didn't want to appear to be cashing in on her encounters with Bill and Hillary, and accordingly decided to self-publish. She should also be commended for that. The Clinton Machine has been vicious and nasty toward the victims of their rapist hero, Bill Clinton, for over twenty years. It's understandable that Mrs. Broaddrick wouldn't want to give them ammunition to question her motives.

ok until the end

I had to quit reading after she rationalized her support of trump, when I decided she must absolutely be really unhinged.

You can experience her closing a chapter...

As you read, you can tell that she was trying to tell the story carefully without having to go into unnecessary details. It was interesting, tactful, thorough but still able to be read by almost anyone. It was perfect. You could feel her relief as she let it out and put it behind her. I knew she was an amazing woman just by following her on Twitter. I now have a full back story which I thought she told very well. There is no bragging or "poor me" at all. It is just an understanding of where she came from and what she has been through besides just the Clinton aspect. It wasn't too short or too long. It had a happy ending. I loved it and am glad U bought it instead of just renting it. I am happy to have it in my collection.

Survivor

I am just a few years younger than Mrs. Broaddrick and was familiar with her name but really didn’t know the details. In light of the recent Senate hearings on Judge Kavanaugh I wanted to know what happened to Mrs. Broaddrick decades ago. If the FBI can investigate Dr. Ford’s 35 year old claim I think it’s time that Mrs. Broadrick’s allegation be investigated. She knows the time and place of the rape and has a corroborated witness.

The book rings true. So much so I overlooked the typing errors because it truly felt like Mrs. Broaddrick own words and not the work of some slick publishing house.

This is a story of a remarkable person. Her contributions to the field of healthcare and her entrepreneurial spirit, drive and success are notable especially when you consider the time frame of the 60s and 70s and the obstacles that we no longer have standing in our way today for success. I agree with the epilogue, that it is unfortunate if one overlooks her personal successes or defines her only as a victim of rape. There is a lot more to Ms. Broaddrick and I for one not only support her, but am extremely happy she discovered twitter! Thank you for sharing your story with us and God bless.

Finally the whole story

This is a simply written, quick read, which tells the story of Juanita’s rape and puts it into the perspective of her life. Honestly presented with no attempt to cover up mistakes. Several typos or errors which might have been caught by a professional editor are a slight distraction at times. A must read for anyone who wants to know the truth. Read it and judge for yourself.

Very well written and totally believable

This was a very inspiring story of a courageous woman who chose to become stronger because of the bike and disgusting actions of Bill and Hillary Clinton. I would highly recommend this boo!I to anyone who wonders how the victim of a rape may feel afterwards. Juanita is clear, concise and reaches her audience on a personal level.

I remember

I remember the story & hearing/reading about all the other women, including Elizabeth Gracen. Maddening, to say the least. But Bill walked away & Hillary came too close to the WH again. And her bitterness & anger comes out in every single tweet, interview & speech she does.
And it is kind of sweet to watch, knowing that she is powerless.

An Interesting Read

I've been following the author on X for some time and was somewhat familiar with her story. It was interesting to read about the events of her life and how she came to be one of Clinton's victims. It was even more enlightening to see how she grew from a frightened young woman to one who fought to have her voice heard.

Just like talking to a friend

I really enjoyed this book. Juanita was born the same year as I was. This was just like talking to a friend, easy to read and I felt like I was right there with Juanita. Terrible what that jerk did to her, ruined her life.

Very compelling and inspiring woman

I believe Juanita and think it’s shameful and disgusting how people on the left; especially the corrupt Clinton’s, have such a double standard and will stop at nothing to be in power. I’m glad Juanita is finding peace!

Quick and easy read about a not easy topic! The author tells her story of rape and the evilness of the Clintons. It was an eye opening story and I applaud Jaunita for making this information public and for fighting for her story to be heard for all these years. The Clintons should be locked up!

Yeah there are typos but her story is compelling. It's amazing to me how she was viewed as credible and has witnesses and still never received justice. The Clinton machine at its finest.
