Fred Sievert started his career as a teacher, later entered the insurance business, and retired early—in 2007—as president of New York Life Insurance Company, a Fortune 100 corporation. Feeling he had woefully neglected his spiritual education and development, Fred enrolled in Yale Divinity School where he was awarded a master’s degree in religion in May 2011. His passion is to impact other lives and, to that end, he writes, teaches business school courses on strategy and leadership, and serves on the boards of five nonprofit organizations and two for-profit corporations. He also mentors young executives and speaks frequently to church and corporate leaders on the topic of business and spirituality.

Though Fred was not raised in a strong worshipping Christian family, he found God through various life experiences that started in adolescence. It was this foundation that guided, and often moderated, his aggressive pursuit of business success and the American Dream. The power of the stories on his website Godrevealed.com and the extent to which God was with Fred throughout his young life and business career only became fully apparent to him after retirement, as he reflected on his life, his family, and his personal successes. His stories have been published in numerous printed and electronic periodicals attracting an audience of hundreds of thousands of readers, many of whom in turn have shared their own realizations, triggered by the work. His book will be in stores early in 2014.

Hard times happen to every living soul, it is what is done to surpass those moments that matter the most. Unfortunately, many people suffer much more than what can be considered "normal" hardships and they believe they deserve it. God works in mysterious ways, as everyone says, but what stands out the most is reading other people's testimonies on how their lives did the ultimate 360. We must be bold in our walk of faith to reap the benefits automatically granted to us.

In “Grace Revealed: Finding God’s Strength in Any Crisis,” author Fred Sievert provides a collection of stories of people’s lives that led to their discovery of God’s grace. Most of these individuals have experienced traumatic childhoods that increased their chances of feeling like damaged adults were undeserving of God’s love. The interesting thing was they didn’t know God was near, when in fact He was with them every step of their journey just waiting for the time they’ll call upon Him. To hit rock bottom, it only means one thing, “there’s nowhere else but up.”

I truly understand the reasons why some people are the way that they are because of their traumatic experiences growing up. I'm happy that many people have hit their lowest and found God, as that's the only way they were able to stop harming and began loving themselves. This book demonstrates that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, you just need to know that you are worthy of God's unconditional love no matter what sins you've committed. I highly recommend everyone who wants to grasp at understanding the purpose of having God's grace upon them.

This book was a pretty good book. It's all about finding the strength from God when we feel that there is no where to turn. Most of the book is written from the stories that people have told to Fred Sievert themselves, but the rest of the content of the book is Fred Sievert giving suggestions on how to personal prayer revolving around individual situations, as well as what he things about these stories.

I actually ended up coming across this book because of an email that I got from a reading club. It had several books to pick from and I ended up downloading this one. It was only several weeks later that I started to read it, and I felt that the timing was perfect somehow. After I began reading the book, there were some rough things that happened in my personal life and this book really gave me the strength and the help that I needed to turn to God and put all of my trust in him. I began asking for his help in a different way than I had before, and I learned how to be more thankful for things that I might not have considered before. I really enjoyed this book, but I'm not sure if it was because of the time in my life that I needed it, or if it was because of how the book was written differently than most.

The only thing that I didn't like in this book was the fact that some of the stories didn't have enough meat on their bones. What I mean by that, is the fact that some of the stories were lacking the preemptive context that led to that individual person being in the situation they found themselves in. I felt like things would have been much more personal and relatable if those people had taken a deep dive into their story. I understand that not everyone wants to share those details but the people telling their stories were allowed to remain anonymous if they chose to so I'm not entirely sure why they didn't go ahead and delve into the nitty gritty.

All that being said, I really think this book is worth reading for anyone that has a belief in God. Whether it's a strong relationship or not. I WOULD NOT recommend reading this book if you are agnostic, or under the age of 16. The age is simply because there are some really tough topics in this book that while they aren't detailed, I still feel like they are not suitable for younger people.

Grace Revealed A book that I highly recommend

Grace Revealed: Finding God’s Strength in Any Crisis was an inspiring tale! I have been inspired since I opened the book! I related to so many of the personal testimony issues throughout the pages of the inspirational novel! Like many people in the world I have a “sad” story that I believe has ups
And downs that my Lord God ordained and while reading this book I continued to get goose bumps and the story’s would go from extreme low to ultimate highs! I loved that the author had the people “tell” their own stories and it made it feel so personal like they were sitting in front of me baring their soul! While reading this book I became aware there are several inspirational novels written by this author and I want to read at least one more if not all because it was delivered so well! I loved How after the people would share there stories the author would come and provide questions for ourselves and a break down of his thoughts on the persons story. I liked hearing his options and “commentary” because it was as if we were in a book club which for me helped to relate to each and every story that much more. There were so many things that the author included that to me helped to understand and even reflect on stories told or times in my own life. The author provides web sites and places to fact check points he gave, he also provided very many quotes and verses from the Bible that really moved me! This is a book I would highly recommend to just about anyone especially some one who may be in a low place in their life and feel alone because I’m a firm believer that someone somewhere probably shares your story and that person could be in this book!

“Whenever their crisis – an addiction, a serious health issue, the pain of an abusive relationship, the loss of a loved one – they all cried out to God for help.”
Fred Sievert tackles the most sought thing in the Bible and throughout the world, Grace. Grace Revealed shows us how everyday people through Jesus Christ and have received this wonderful gift. He points out throughout the bible that shows that grace is given to all if they ask for it and understand even though they may not deserve God gives it to his children without the condition. I appreciate that he takes research though different theologians and individuals and uses the bible to show how to receive grace and how people today with the real crisis have received the gift now today. He points out several times that the crisis is just one point of your life not your life as a whole. However the crisis you survive effects the rest of your life. He shows us stories from all types of people going through a different crisis as examples that even though this they found the Grace from God they were seeking. I found his writing very easy to read and could be appreciated by young adults through adulthood. I would not recommend it for anyone younger than sixteen because of the very adult topics but I think anyone going through a crisis of their own can find comfort in its pages. The book is deep but not very long and can be useful for a bible study or discussion group for any care group someone may be attending.

Grace Revealed: Finding God’s Strength in Any Crisis by Fred Sievert is a very timely follow-up to his book God Revealed: Revisit Your Past to Enrich Your Future. This book examines how God’s grace touches lives and changes hearts. Stating that he “believes in the power of spiritual sharing”, the author shares several personal testimonies from people in different stages of life who received God’s grace in some of the most incredible and humbling ways.

Each story touches on topics such as physical, sexual and emotional abuse, career related crises, overcoming addiction, family issues and grief. Sievert gently guides readers through each topic with several personal stories, scriptures shared by each individual, he follows up with his personal reflections, and prayers. While many of the stories shared are heart wrenching, they may easily touch the life of the reader struggling with similar issues.

According to Sievert, “grace is most needed and best understood in the midst of sin, suffering, and brokenness”. The author also says that, “Receiving God’s grace…enables you to overcome any crisis and transforms and empowers you under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to return God’s marvelous gift to others. He uses three key points that explains just how this transforming power often begins: first by experiencing aforementioned crises, secondly by receiving grace, lastly by returning grace to others.

I was personally touched by several of the stories and feel compelled to share this book with others. It is my hope that each reader will pass it forward to another.

Found God's grace!

Grace Revealed is a book that hits heavy with subjects and stories that are deep and real. A lot of people in this world are experiencing profound grief or overwhelming issues. Grace Revealed is made to be a guide to help us and point us continually back to our Creator. Which is something that is harder than you think it would be. As a Christian I find that I do need to constantly be reminded to keep my faith in God even through intense and painful, or especially confusing situations. God is always there for me.

And there is always someone else who has endured the same or similar suffering. Each chapter is an example of this. A reminder that you are not alone. And the author does a good job of remaining true to scripture, (something I look for in every christian author) as well as giving his own input and advice like a pastor would.

This book taught me a lot and revamped my faith once again. We all go through tough situations, we will all have times when we need to look to God for help. Hes always there for us when we need him. I was happy to read this book. and you will be too

Personal Reflection through others testimonies

NoGrace Revealed was a well-written book with real testimonies from people who have gone through addictions, physical harm, and emotional hurt. It shows you that through your trials, you can have victory and then help others going through similar circumstances. There is a "Personal Reflections" and "Healing Insights" section after each person's testimony where you can reflect on your own life.

I like how this book points to Christ and how He can help you through all that you endure.

This book is for mature teenagers up through adults. I would not recommend it for anyone younger than 13—an excellent book for those who are genuinely seeking answers.

A reflective book

Having recently lost much faith because of personal crises in my life, I thought this book would read as a god-fearing lecture from the pulpit. However, the short snippets provided by others who have witnessed personal tragedy provides a springboard of healing. The commonality of the human spirit is shown and various prayers and reflections at the end of each story can be a source of comfort even for those who have not accepted faith as a healing experience.

Very inspirational and motivational!

I found this book a very interesting and inspirational read. The author chronicles stories of people that have overcame a tragedy or other serious issue in their lives and how they used Scripture to help them through their dark times. Many of these people now use their experiences to help others.

God is always watching over us.

While reading this book, I could relate to many of the stories told. Although I am not too familiar with passages from the Bible, I was able to understand how God was always there whenever you needed him. It also showed that nothing was hopeless and believing in the strength of God can help you survive the worst crisis.
