The president of the U.S. orders Director Elizabeth Harker of the Project to investigate the collision at sea of a U.S. Navy missile destroyer with a Chinese freighter. It may have been sabotage, and the president wants her to get to the bottom of it. But the assignment is not what it seems. Harker has an enemy in the White House who wants her to fail. The Project's continued existence is on the line.
In the cold reaches of the far north, a hidden supercomputer with malicious artificial intelligence is being used by a secret organization to drive the world to war. Disruptive attacks across the world begin to create deep suspicions between China, Russia, and America. Preparations for war escalate. As the war drums begin to beat, the Project team discovers a digital trail that could lead to whoever is trying to touch off a nuclear confrontation.
That makes the team a serious threat. They're getting too close to the truth, and the man behind the attacks decides to stop them. As the doomsday clock ticks toward zero, it's touch and go whether any of the team will get out alive, much less stop the certainty of nuclear war and mutual annihilation.
Will they survive long enough to stop the missiles from flying?

I like Barbados rum, old, fast motorcycles, playing guitar and books by authors like Michael Connelly, Robert Crais, Alex Berenson, Craig Johnson and Lee Child. I write action/adventure thrillers. WHITE JADE is the first in a series featuring the PROJECT, a small, elite counter-terrorism unit. There are currently 23 books in the series.

Book Phoenix #!6
Series: The Project Series
Author: Alex Lukeman
Publisher: Alex Lukeman
Rated: Mature
Genre: Action Adventure
Pages: 249
Release January 1, 2018

Alex Lukeman ….I have been reading and enjoying this series since your first in the Project series, White Jade released in 2012. We have spanned many years together with the members of the project under President Rice and Elizabeth Harker.

My marveling at your story telling is elicited in every review I write for this series. The racing heart, the sweaty palms and the internal cheers I give as I read are an ever lasting platitudes to your plot choices, your delivery, your descriptions, your pace….It all works!

Our weary but diehard cast have made them friends for the last six years. Injuries, marriages, pregnancies, and dedication to our country; these fearless members of The Project.

With a new President in office in Washington, things are a changing, for this country and this group. From what I can tell, after reading Phoenix, you will be directing the gang to a new path as well. I champion you Alex Lukeman for the steady hand and wonderful stories you have graced us with in these 16 books. There is no need to spoil any part of this book with spoilers, only the hope that we will await The Phoenix to rise out of the ashes for another wonderful endeavor for us to join you on.

Always a 5**** read.

I really enjoy Lukeman’s ‘Project Series,’ and the “Phoenix” was no exception. The book is an interesting and quick read with fast paced action and intriguing characters about whom one cares. Moreover, I appreciate that the characters grow and evolve. Alex Lukeman provides this continuity of characters and situations amongst the books, so in some ways one can appreciate their evolution and growth of their characterization if you read the books in order. However, if you pick up a single entry in the series, Lukeman provides sufficient background information so that you are not lost.

A U.S. Sub has rammed a Chinese ship in questionable boundary waters off of China’s coast. The Americans lost control of the sub; it seemed as if the sub steered itself. Then the machinery within a dam in China goes berserk causing such extreme vibration that the massive dam crumbles wiping outs cities and taking millions of lives. Soon, a Russian jet crashes killing several high ranking generals; then a U.S. nuclear plant has a meltdown. Strange worldwide events are happening and each super power thinks it must be one of the others ~ WWIII approaches. The Project is called in and soon they discover that they are not even safe.

Another great story from Lukeman. I strongly do recommend this book and this series to you. I have actually slowed up in my reading of this series so I don't run out of the books. So, perhaps it is time for you to read one too?

All kinds of twists and turns in this book. Again, a group of men are trying to take over the world. One man hires a computer wiz to build a computer with AI. The computer is able to hack into various systems and causes disasters in the US, China and Russia. Each country blames the other and are preparing for war. The Project team investigates and are under threat, not only from evil, but within, as well. The new President does not like them. In the end, the team, even with stopping WW3, finding a Russian Spy in the White House, is disbanded.
I hope this is not the last of this series, as I have enjoyed reading it and always look forward to the next book.

Action-packed, fast-paced, suspenseful thriller!

The Project Team is trying to find out who is trying to start World War III. Freddie, the AI computer, is also working with the team. Alex Lukeman takes the reader on a journey showing how misunderstandings and manipulations can start a war. Another AI computer has been taking over computer systems and doing damage. It becomes a race to find the people responsible before a nuclear war begins. Could not put this book down. Happy reading! 😊

Where do we go from here?

One of the best, particularly loved the battle of the AI computers. Wanted
more to e done with the concept of lonely as it related to a computer. The
villains that were so meticulously set up seemed wasted except for the fact
that a greater bad guy seems set up for 17 with or without the Project. Begging
the question where do we go from here? I will definitely be reading.

The Phoenix. Alex lukeman

The Phoenix, the mystical creature that returns from the ashes. The problem is only a small amount of pre selected people will return from the nuclear holocaust. A mad man, albeit an extremely wealthy one and his group believe in a single ruling world government. The world needs to be cleansed. This is an extraordinary and actually believable scenario. My highest recommendation!

Nerve-wracking

The Project Team does an amazing job against the usual impossible odds and evil maniacs. I always enjoy the interplay among the team members.

It’s interesting to see the AI battle, especially after reading the intro to Frankenstein where the “creature” is compared to current AI and how creators lose control over what they create. The intro and The Phoenix both touched on The Terminator, too.

Another great read, action packed and sometimes fast paced. Another secret society out to cause mayhem, something averted Bond style at the last minute.
Personal trauma, and a lot of excitement, I (as usual) very much enjoyed the book. And a twist at the end that threatens the team, looking forward to seeing how that pans out.
Some parts of the action are a little too intense and could do with padding out, the book's under 300 pages so a little longer wouldn't hurt at all.

A reminder of the world we truly live in...

While fiction Lukeman’s latest book is a sober reminder of the reality of living today in the nuclear age and with the advent of AI technology in the hands of seriously disturbed people, the potential consequences. Scary. A very good read as Lukeman seldom disappoints.

Great Series.

Another great addition to the Project series - full of action and political intrigue. These books are quick reads but satisfying. I like the writing style and, of course, the recurring characters. As for the ending.... hmm, should be interesting to see where it leads.

Good but too short.

Enjoyed this installment of the Project. Drew me in from page one and kept the pace going through to the end. But was hoping for a longer story with more depth and details. This is a good quick read you will enjoy.

Great Read

Real enjoy the project series. The story was great and timely considering all the turmoil about the deep state andthe Soros involvement in rallies to move the country into a socialist globalist society.

A US Sub hits a Chinese ship, the waters are in questionable Boundaries. This is a triangle mess of power US, Russia and China. The characters are good, they have grown, matured in their responsibilities.

Love it.

I don't want to spoil this for those who haven't yet read the book. I cannot wait for the next book to see the Phoenix effect that Alex will have already come up with.

Phoenix

As I always say., GREAT story plenty of action. It also should be a bit of a wake up call, to remind people of the dangers that exist today.

The project series is a good escape when one looks for a respite from reality. This book left me wondering what's next. I'll continue the series as Alex Lukeman writes them. Enjoy.

The team is all back together and healed, as a matter of fact someone is pregnant. But you know nothing stays quite for long, and this time is not just one county they bad guys are after it is three and they have made it a nuclear hate triangle between the USA, Russia, and China, not a good thing, but how to prove each of the three did not actually do what they are accused of doing to start this, before it gets any messier.

I don't know how Alex Lukeman does it but he has maintained the same level of action if not more, the same with suspense, and twists and the turns you have come to love from his books. But it is not like his other books as each of his books has it own life about it. If you are lucky enough to have the audio than you will know what a awesome narrator Jack de Golia is and how he can read you right into the story, you will become part of team Project while you are listening, it is so much fun, if you are listen while driving you will probably take the long way home. This author and narrator work so well together it is magic at work.
