This is the fifth and most recent chapter of the Olivia Wells saga. At this time, her private detective agency has gained momentum not only because of the press generated from her previous cases but also because former Miami police detective Wayne has joined her as a new partner, which adds experience, expertise, and considerable credibility to her firm. The latest case involves being hired by a distraught wife after her husband is found murdered. The thing is, he is not just some ordinary person, but a rich tycoon who in his later years was disabled and killed with no shortage of suspects and a long list of motives. While the initial investigation points to the wife as a prime suspect, this is the kind of complex case and murder mystery where few things make sense and the truth is fleeting.
Olivia is the kind of PI who doesn't shy away from a challenge and is driven and determined to see a case through to the end even when it appears there is nothing left to investigate. Those instincts and gut feelings sometimes work in her favor and sometimes they don't. Wayne has warned her that since she is not law enforcement, she cannot take it any further than the evidence leads. However, she can't seem to let some cases go as in this one as there appears to be a missing piece that even the police may have missed. Will she take this case too far and at great cost to herself, her client, and her business? This is a story worth checking to find out. Recommended.
NO PLACE TO DECEIVE. by Jaden Skye. “Murder in the Keys” book 5 What ever evidence there was, was washed away by the ocean. He donated to a lot of charities, and owned medical clinics. They are on the way to the Keys, a murder, a personal vendetta against the man it seemed. They were a close family and lifelong friends. Personal side Olivia wants more from Wayne, for him, he doesn’t want to open up and risk losing again. A good plot, the family has secrets, some say the wife was too flamboyant. Readers will be intrigued by the plot, the dynamics of the family, and questions hold you to the end. Great reading from Jaden, and as always, looking for the next one.
The story was somewhat predictable. I was bothered by bad editing. Several times Nate's name was used where Wayne's name should have been. Editors need to look more closely.
Again could hardly put the book down. I’ve read all five books in the series and could not wait to start the next one in the series each time. Easy reading, good characters and plenty of suspense.
