This was an erotic novella that left me a bit confused. Essentially this book has about 3-4 scenes with the last scene being quite an explicit sex scene. There is an actual storyline here but the problem is that it was very difficult to follow.

Now I thought to myself, maybe this book is just for fun and the storyline doesn't really matter. Kind of like porn, right? However, the sex scene had words like "furrow", "clefts" and "cream dew". I don't know. It just didn't float my boat.

We know that Vickey is on the run from the BLURB and it's mentioned one time in the book but the details are still hazy to me. There are attempts to explain her predicament with mention of her father and some other guy named Terry but I just couldn't figure it out.

Then we have Jake, a man she recently broke up with. He may be police? But he carries illegal weapons? Not sure. She runs into him at some bar incidentally and they end up hooking up at the end of the book.

The ending kind of leaves you hanging. There is some element of suspense/ mystery to the story that needs to be unravelled I guess in another book. I don't know, give this a try if you are looking for a short, hot read. Maybe you will enjoy it.

This story was really unexpected...First of all is a novella... It was my first read from this author and it was a very interesting book. It was short but damn hot as hell and full of everything I search in a book: mystery, secrets, action, suspense.



Vickey is a sexy young girl on the run, she has a bounty on her head. She doesn't stay in one place or in a job, very long time. She doesn't do relationships. She has a hurting past, comes from a criminal family. She tries to stay away from Jake only to protect him because Jake turns her world upside down.

  

Jake is a mystery, an enigma...He has some secrets too. Jake is part of a special police squad who fights to bring down the organized crime from the city. Only some girl turned his head and mind upside down, she actually broke up with him...She left him. Jake doesn't know who Vickey is, and Vickey doesn't know who Jake is.

When Jake and Vickey meet sparks fly. Their attraction and chemistry are off the charts. So much action, mystery, and secrets.

A very sexy hot steamy dirty, but a short story that ends with a cliffhanger and will leave you dangling on the edge.

Can't wait to read the next book!

Oh dear.  Where to start?

I'll say right away that I thought that this was going to be a longer book.  But even novella length, I would have hoped for more of a story line.

For me, the blurb had little relevance to the tale which unfolded which I felt was little more than an extended snapshot with cliched language.

I didn't make a connection to the characters and, although I see that this is a hit with other reviewers, I'm afraid that it simply missed the mark for me.

Really interesting and steamy book. I loved reading about Vickey and Jake. Their relationship was confusing at first, but then when I found out that Vickey broke it off and the reason why it made a little bit more sense. The things Vickey went through because of her family and the things that Teddy did to her sounded terrible although we just get little hints at what all those things were and wished we learned a little bit more about Vickey's past. I am so excited to see what happens between Vickey and Jake in the future and excited to see what will happen concerning Teddy when and if he finds out they are no involved. Can't wait for the next story of this exciting, steamy read. I received a review copy of this story and am leaving a voluntary honest review.

The story is super short. It starts out with Vicky vividly remembering having sex with Jake. Vicky is clearly in love with Jake. She is running or hiding from something or someone which is what kept me reading (I was curious.) Jake is also in love with Vicki, but let's her walk away.
I think this has an interesting story, but to much sex for the length of the book. The end says this is not the beginning or the end for Jake and Vicki, so I would be interested to find out who she is running from or why. I just hope it's more story and less sex scenes. This book is well edited.

Broken is a contemporary romance novella by L.M. Mountford. It is the story of a girl named Vickey, who is in her early twenties, and she can't stop thinking about a guy that she recently broke up with named, Jake. When the story begins Vickey is out at a bar with two of her best girlfriends, Erika and Angela. Vickey hasn't been out with her friends since she broke up with Jake, she's just been staying at home remembering how he could make her body feel so good, how much she enjoyed being with him, and how happy he made her. It has been a month since their break-up, but she is still almost crying when her friends tease her about him. But Vickey couldn't be in a committed relationship. She would usually see a guy a few times, have some fun, and then break it off. It was the best thing for her, and it was definitely the best thing for the guys. Erika and Angela could tell that this guy was different to Vickey though. She had been sitting at home watching old TV shows, and they had to practically drag her out of the house to celebrate Christmas Eve. They want to know what makes this guy so different to Vickey, and Vickey says that he's “dark and dangerous”. When they ask Vickey what Jake does for a profession, she says that she doesn't know and that she was afraid to ask him. In truth, Vickey is afraid to know the answer to that question. Once she had found a gun in the drawer where he kept his condoms. Also, Jake kept strange hours, but he was in great shape physically. He could also sprout bruises overnight. Jake also didn't know about Vickey's father, the murderer who had just broken out of prison. Vickey had told Jake that her last name was “Romano”, which was her mother's maiden name.

Jake Talbert was still missing Vickey, too. He was a member of “The Flying Squad”, and he knew that if she hadn't broken up with him, that he would have had to break up with her. Jake felt that Vickey deserved someone better than him. Jake ended Christmas Eve night at a club called, “Seven”, and it just so happened that Vickey wandered her way into that club, too. Jake was standing at the bar having a drink when he saw Vickey Romano dancing by herself in the middle of the very crowded dance floor. Jake snuck up behind Vickey so that she wouldn't see him, but she could feel him. He felt very familiar to her, and his hands were all over her. When he called her a, “Naughty girl”, it didn't take long for Vickey to recognize his voice, and the next thing she knew they were kissing. Jake pulled her into a dark corner, behind a private booth where he thought that no one would be able to see them. Jake made love to Vickey in that dark corner, and Vickey could forget about her father, and that he had killed his family; that there was a bounty on her head. Jake made her feel safe, and she loved him. Jake loves Vickey, too.

What will happen next with Vickey and Jake? Will they end up together. Will Jake learn who Vickey
is, and will Vickey find out what Jake's profession is? This is a snippet of a story that the author, L.M. Mountford, has written to introduce us to his characters. These are great characters with an interesting story, and I can't wait to see where this story goes! I really enjoyed it, and I definitely recommend it!

Well written, suspenseful, sexy book with a storyline that is intriguing, although you don't find everything out since it is a short read that will have you falling right of the proverbial cliff. The blurb tells us that Vicky is running from something, someone, but as yet we don't know exactly who or what that is, but you will begin to have your suspicions as you read and gather bits and pieces of her story through conversations and thoughts she has. She met Jake and they are very much into each other, until she ends it, like she always does. But this time is different. This time she misses him. He doesn't understand what happened, but decides it's best as he would have done it sooner or later himself. But she haunts his thoughts. And then he sees her, watches her dance. He is drawn to her like no other.

The characters are well written and so very complex. Their time together is explosive and hot. His need to protect her is justified, considering she has a bounty on her head. For what reason, we have yet to find out, but that makes this story even more intriguing. It's the storyline that is grabbing me. For me, in such a short read, I would have prefered more story and just a tad bit less of the sex scenes, but that is just me. I got caught up in the story and then fell off the "cliff". I hope that this is just a tease for more to come.

Overall it is a really good read with a story that will have you turning pages quickly to see what happens..just don't turn to fast because before you know it...you fall! I do recommend this book.

Broken by LM Mountford is a romantic erotica story. This is not my first story by this author, it has become my favorite of hers. Her writing style is such that it pulls me in right from the beginning and keeps me engaged until the end. Her attention to details make you feel as if you are right there with the characters. She brings the characters to life. Her characters are both connectable and true to life. They took me on a roller coaster ride that left me needing ice water in parts. They also took me on a journey of twists and turns that you will want more of. This is Vickey's story. Vickey is a woman who has been hurt in the past. She has a secret that she doesn't want to get out. She has been working some temp jobs with on the run and is careful not to let anyone get close. Then she meets Jake. She can't get him out of her head. He is a mystery and knows that she should stay away from him but she can't seem to resist him. She doesn't want to put him in danger but is it too late? I enjoyed both of these characters. They bring the story to life with their passion for one another. They have such great chemistry together. They are both strong characters that have a secret side to them that neither one seem to know about. Without saying to much more, I highly recommend this book. Find out what happens with Vickey and Jake and just how strong their attraction is.

Broken by L.M. Mountford was a quick, wham bam thankyou mam kind of read, that left you just as unsatisfied as Jake.

From a readers stand point, this book was well written, greatly edited and has a nice sensual pace that drew you into the story. There is some mystery darkness in the undertones and a very dark past that Vicky is hiding.

I will say that with short reads like this, it's hard to get a feel for the MC's. But from the little bit I managed to get, Vicky was shaping up to be a interesting complex characters, that I believe if left to grow and mature, would have been an superstar MC. She got all the makings of that MC that faces her past, fights to get her life back and fights the monster that cause her such brokenness.

Jake, well, from first impressions, he's a alpha male. Very much like other alpha's I've read about. Unfourtrinally there wasn't enough back story for me to get a real feel on him. Right now, I just think he's a jerk with anger issues, and possibly a dirty cop.

Both of them together..... hot, hot, hot!

Overall I did enjoy this snippet, or tease of a story. I'm hoping that this's only the beginning for these two, cause I want a full length story. I have a feeling that Jack and Vicky's story will be epic. So I highly recommend you get your hands on this fast, hot read!

Can Jake protect her from the bounty hunters? Will they be-able to move forward when all the secrets come out or will they walk away from each other?
I cant wait to see what this author has in-stored for this couple…

Broken by L.M Mountford is a quick teasing read that gets you hot under the collar, has you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. This is my first read from this author and after this read I can't wait to read more from this author and also to read more of Vickey & Jake’s story! I have to say even after reading the authors note, how can it end just like that! That was just such a good build up, it was heavy, sexy, thrilling and suspenseful and then boom! It ended... I yelled at that book big time! There are so many question I need answered, back stories I need to find out.
I can already tell from just them few chapters how captivating and compelling this series will be, the characters are compelling and i can already tell I’m going to love reading Vickey & Jake’s story, they have a connection that is powerful, undeniable and sexy and I can already tell they are going to have a rollercoaster of a ride of dealing with emotions and ups and downs in their journey. This read was made even better by being in dual POV’s which helps us understand each character, their thoughts & feelings, and actions!

Once again this was a great read that I’m glad I got the chance to read this and can’t wait for more!

Very Erotic and suspenseful storyline. This is a quick read and intro into Vicky and Jake's Story. While we don't learn all the particulars (or a lot of the things we really want to know), while reading it you just know your getting a glimpse into their world and the best is yet to come.

We learn Vicky is a runner. She is running from the past (mainly her father's legacy). She only takes temp jobs and ends her relationships after a few dates and moves on. That is up until Jake. There is something about him that even though she has left him she can't forget him. As for Jake, we get glimpses into his life as well. His life is also suspect. Who is he really, what does he do, where does he come from? We do know he is majorly hung up on Vicky and when she breaks it off he can't forget her. He's lost. But one night he sees her dancing at a bar and is instantly drawn back into her web.

The story is very well written and leaves you wondering and guessing. The sex scenes are hot and abundant in this story and the suspense is killer. I recommend this book but suggest going into it with wide eyes (if you don't you're liable to be saying Do What?)

I’m sitting here left confused frustrated, wanting, fanning self and yet I loved it. This story was like a puzzle...we are given the pieces all jumbled yet nothing makes sense or has come together, yet. It was a tease of snippets of their lives. You will be left guessing who they are, what they are running from and where they’d like to end up.

“He didn’t raise his voice. He didn’t have to. The command was in his tone and her body obeyed.”

At the end of this crazy rollercoaster of twist and turns you will be left confused and wanting more...in some way I think Jake would find pleasure in that. I can’t wait to see where their story takes us next...we are left with a major cliffhanger and told this is not their beginning nor their end.

Broken is the first story by L.M. Mountford I've had the pleasure of reading and I cannot wait to get my hands on the second installment in this series! I had to read this twice before I could review it, and I'm positive I'll be reading it a third! This is an introduction to what promises to be an unforgettable relationship. There is passionate acts of sex and language appropriate only for adults. Vickey and Jake had a short, whirlwind romance that seems to be a thing of the past, however they appear to haunt each other's dreams. Vickey is family to some bad people, and Jake himself has kept so much of himself secret from Vickey that it looks as though he has a questionable life, as well, when in fact he's on the other side of the law. There are too many questions unasked and unanswered between the two to call what they shared healthy. I absolutely cannot emphasize enough how much I am dying to see this steamy story to the end! Evidence in the writing supports that the author is English.I saw no errors in spelling, punctuation, or grammar, and based on all that, I give this excellent short story 5 stars!

ARGH!!!!!! Absolutely loving this story and then….the end! Are you kidding me.  Okay take a breath.  Short, sweet and hot as hell!!!!  This short glimpse into Jake and Vickey story and there is so much potential with the storyline.  We get just enough to theorize about who they are.

Jake is a dark and mysterious enigma that is walking a dangerous line.  From the little bit, we get to learn about him he fights and is extreme in all aspects of his life.

Then there is Vickey.  She is a woman with a secret and is on the run because there is a bounty on her head.  She appears to be a woman on the constant lookout and doesn’t stay in one place very long.

When Jake and Vickey meet the chemistry is unbelievably sizzling.  That is all I know.  This short blurp left a lot of questions and had my mind running in all kinds of directions.  I sure as heck hope this isn’t all we are going to get of this hot couple.  I NEED MORE!!

Broken by LM Mountford is a romantic erotica story. This is not my first story by this author, it has become my favorite of hers. Her writing style is a type that can pull you in. I get lost in the words. The author really brought this story together with their awesome ability to describe characters. You can see the author’s passion for writing within this story. This is Vickie and Jakes story. Vickie is someone who has been hurt so much in her past its a wonder she isn’t more damaged. Vickie is harboring a secret that she cant have getting out so she is very cautious of those she invites into her life. She has been working for a few temp agencies while being on the run in order, Vickie is careful not to let anyone around her get close. For Vickie this becomes harder to stick to because she meets Jake. She can't quit thinking about the sexy man. I won’t say much more because I’ll end up giving away too much of the start. I gave it a 5 star review and look forward to more by this author!

Broken by LM Mountford is a short novella which has a lot jammed into it with complex characters and inter woven story which will keep you reading.

There is a lot of story crammed in and sometimes due to the short nature of the book I did feel like I was lost in some parts of the story or did not quite understand some of the story. The story was fast paced and is well written, with the characters having a great chemistry within the book.

As the story goes on you don't truly get to the bottom of who was chasing Vicky and with the great ending to this story you hope that their is another book in the process to answer some of the questions which have been left unanswered. As the story develops the chemistry you get to see with the characters slowly shows their true selves to each other.

I hope that their is another book to answer the questions left unanswered, the writing was clean and fast paced, with the rich descriptions and chemistry this story wants you reading more. I have read other books by this author and can't wait to read more.

Broken by L.M. Mountford was definitely a story of passion and chemistry. This book is a short read with a heaping amount of sexiness!! I did enjoy this read, I just wish it had more. As you read you start to put some of the clues together yourself. There is definitely some exciting and nail biting moments in this story. Vickey finds herself enamoured with this guy she recently broke up, she just can't get him out of her head. This is an unusual thing for her because she is used to keeping people at arm's length. Jake who also keeps people at arms length seems to be having the same trouble, he can't seem to get Vickey out of his head. They both have secrets that they would rather not disclose to anyone. Will their past affect their future? The chemistry between these two are so hot you might get scorched. I’m hoping that there will be more. I am hoping we will get more background information and also what happens for them in the future. Maybe this is just a prelude to their continuing story, but of its not it is still a really great book to read.

Broken is a hot like hell AND in a twisted way romantic short story. It is the first story I have read by the writer and he left me wanting … wanting to find out how Jake and Vickey’s story ends as this story is just a beginning … or at least I hope it is a beginning and the writer will give us more as the glimpses we got into Vickey’s past and Jake’s reality … oh boy, it really wets one’s appetite!
Even though the story is short, the characters are complex and both of them have a secret side to them and for sure they take us on a merry ride … and I have to say, I absolutely love the Britishness of the language the writer uses to tell the story … it makes me miss the good ole England! The story is peppered with hot sex scenes and I have to say that I did not care too much for the way how they were told, they felt a bit … hmmmm … forced …funny, right? They did fit the storyline and gave us more understanding of who Jake and Vickey are … Pick up a copy and I am sure you will join me in hoping that their story will continue!

Vickey Romano is a beautiful girl who happens to live by the adage of love them and then leave them. The reason for this type of relationship is because she ahs a bounty on her head, her father has escaped prison and her Uncle Terry is somewhere in the mix of all of this. While Vickey is trying to stay alive she falls for Jake: Just plane ole Jake..no last name but he seems to be hiding something too…he sleeps with an unregistered gun, kind of sort of on that take as a police officer (?) and is deeply falling for Vickey. They are running in the same circles but unbeknownst to either they are both trying to settle the score (?) of the escaped prisoner and Uncle Terry.
There are two scenes that are steamy, and very intimate…one is Vickey dreaming and the other is on the dance floor of the club. This story is detailed, and kind of confusing but interesting, if you can keep the characters straight.

Vicky is a girl with a past, even though she is not a criminal the same cannot be said about her family.  She is always on the move and doesn’t stay in a relationship or a job for very long to avoid being found.  The thing is she can’t seem to get Jake out of her thoughts.  The way he touched her and the way he made her feel haunt her daily.  Jake is a police officer on a special squad trying to take down the organized crime in the city.  He loses focus though when the one girl he felt he had a connection with cut him loose.  Neither Jake nor Vicky knows the truth about the other and when they find out it’s going to be explosive.

 

Broken is a very quick read that pulls you in and then leaves you dangling with a cliffhanger.  Just as you’re getting into the characters the story abruptly ends.  Vicky and Jake are both agreeable characters that you hope find a HEA.  The British slang made it a little difficult to read at times but created a fun and exciting reading challenge.

Broken is a fantastic novella by L.M Mountford. It is full of sexy details that will keep you avidly reading from start to finish.
As a novella this is a very quick, easy and fast paced read. there are a LOT of erotic scenes in the book, way more than I expected to find in a novella.
I think because of the type of story this is and the fact that it is very short, you would be better of going in not knowing too much. I was going to divulge a few details about Vicky’s past and situation, and why Jake is so enigmatic with his secrets…. But that is better of being discovered over the course of the story. The author has been quite creative in their character development and backstories.
Vicky and Jake are intriguing, but likeable characters, that had me rooting for them right from the beginning. They had a really intense chemistry, that steamed up the screen of my kindle.
I followed along eagerly, trying to figure out where the story would end up. The book finishes on a cliffy. There is a lot more that I would like to know…. so, I am hoping that this means the next book that will not only pick up where this left off, but delve into greater detail/s?

Fantastic short story that I cannot wait to get the rest of!

L.M. Mountford is a master at pulling in an audience, getting them invested in a story, keeping them intrigued and yearning for more!

Broken is a sexually charged short story that is filled with danger and leaves you wanting more...of everything!

Vickey and Jake are both well written, strong characters and their interaction is HOT, HOT, HOT! While I enjoy a good hot read, I am really intrigued by the danger and suspense of all that will come. CANNOT WAIT FOR MORE!!!

Not sure what the author has planned for this story and how it will all come out...as one book or as novellas...but you can be sure I will be stalking him for the rest of this story!

Broken by LM Mountford, a romance erotica book, was the first book that I read by this author. I found this book to be beyond intriguing with the amazing amount of suspense, sexiness, and well written. When reading the book description I knew I would be able to fall in love with this book. Vickey isn’t your normal girl, she’s a girl on the run. She has never let anyone close until Jake enters her life. She sees that he too carries secrets and as much as she knows she should stay away she can’t.
Mountford was able to really create two characters that have such chemistry and such passion for each other. And I was able to get lost in two people that both have a secret side to them. The only thing I didn’t like about the book was I wished it had been longer because I so could get lost in the world of Vickey and Jake. This for sure will not be the last book I read by this author.

Broken is the first book I have read by LM Mountford. It was more erotic of a book than I expected. The description of the book seemed dark and interesting, full of mystery and secrets. But after reading the story, I was left with not much more than the description. There was not much background given on the characters, just bits a pieces of memories. I still don't know exactly who Jake is, how they met, or where things are going to go from here. To me, the story was like a porno, lots of sex, but not much story. It was good enough for me to continue reading, hoping to get some answers, but I was left confused. There seemed to be a intense story behind Vickey's breakup with Jake, and family history, but details were never revealed. I feel like I'm missing a lot of backstory, like this could/should be the 2nd book in a series...
