The closest person I have outside of the screaming fans and paparazzi—a constant in my new life— other than the whiskey I drown myself in to numb the pain left by someone else.
But a secluded cabin in the woods and my ex who decided she’s not over me forces me to go to the extreme in order to take control of my world again before I lose it completely.
Unfortunately for me, my brother’s girlfriend is the only girl I haven’t slept with and made fall for me, resulting in hating me in the end.
She's my only option.
Sharing a room in a cabin with me is most girls’ dream come true, but for Natalie, she claims it’s her worst nightmare. She thinks I’m nothing more than a reckless rock star and has always been good at destroying my ego.
I never realized when I asked to borrow her for the trip, that I’d feel something I haven’t felt in a long time, or that I’d like the way she pretends she doesn't enjoy being around me.
Have you ever borrowed something and didn’t want to give it back?
Yeah, well, me too. And I’m starting to think she should have been mine to begin with…
Author note: Borrowed was previously titled Reckless Rock Star

Hey everyone!! I'm the author of the Walk of Shame Series plus many other titles! If you're into reading about sexy, dirty talking alpha males then you're in the right place!!!
Any books listed under my name that aren't Romance do NOT belong to me! They just keep appearing under my name.
I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope, throw in brother’s girlfriend, a rockstar and forced proximity and I’m in. This book was great. The tension and chemistry between Natalie and Madden was so intense. When I say I hated Madden’s ex girlfriend, that’s an understatement. She was the worst. Overall this book was really good.
Seeing the relationship between Natalie and Madden blossom had me on a roller coaster of emotions. Not overly spicy, but the spice there is fantastic, the build up to the spice is even better! A+ I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I read the book in one sitting. I love this author's books. This one was good, very good, not perfect, but I liked it in the end. My emotions went all over the place, I especially felt rage on behalf of Nat & Madden (not gonna say why because I don't want to give spoilers).
It's a slow burn, and by reading the synopsis, you will understand why. These two are 🔥 once they get together ❤️.
I liked both main characters. I was kinda sad when the book ended because I wanted more of their story. I'm greedy like that 😂🤷♀️.
Hated his brother. I wanted to understand him maybe more because I don't think he should have been forgiven for what he did. By neither Nat or Madden. He was an awful boyfriend and an incredible selfish brother.
Don't get me started on the MMC ex-girlfriend. She behaved like a spoiled b*tch. I understand drama was needed, but she was exhausting.
Even with all the slow burn, I still feel like they fell in love too quickly. But I liked how everything wrapped up. She was indeed his everything, and I liked their journey.
The fact that she was his brother's girlfriend didn't bother me in this book's setup because it's quite clear that his brother maybe loved her but definitely wasn't showing it! And she deserved so much more, exactly how the MMC ended up loving her 🥹.
A few triggers, like he was a manho3 before making the deal to "borrow" her - which is somewhat understandable, sadly 🥲 (he is 100% committed to her and their relationship once they start their journey, so no worries), alcohol1sm and depression, ch3ating (not between main characters).
Thanks to the author for the ARC 🖤!
PS: Great choice for the cover model! I mean, that's Madden 100% 👀🎸🔥🖤🖤.
(4.7 Stars) My brother’s girlfriend should be off limits...but what do you do when you connect to the one you shouldn’t? It looks like Madden Parker has it all. Adoring fans, music career, but he would give it all up for love. When he goes on a camping trip to get away he doesn’t want to see his ex there. His only option...bring someone that won’t fall for him. His brother’s girlfriend, Natalie, fits that bill perfectly. When two people are looking for that human connection can they truly just stay friends or will the lines blur between right and wrong? This is very well written story and not what you are expecting. Madden is the rock star persona we all love and Natalie is one feisty woman! Their back and forth banter is so much fun. If you love a fake relationship, slow burn, rockstar romance this is the book for you. This was slow in spots for me but it did pick up again. I really enjoyed this rockstar romance! Previously titled Reckless Rock Star. Told in dual POV
This book was sooo good. I read it for a ARC read before it released and I literally read it in 6 hours total, I did not want to put it down!! I can’t wait for it to come out for more people to be able to enjoy it too!❤️ Seeing Natalie and Maddens friendship grow as they learned more about each other was honestly so amazing and the way it was written was so good, very well written, and definitely gonna be a comfort read for me from now on! And I LOVED the fact that it seemed like it was more prominent in the MMC POV☺️
This is my first book by Victoria Ashley and omg I’m beyond shocked because of how amazing and well written this book is 😩
I received the arc to this book in the afternoon and next day by evening I was finished.I couldn’t put this Book down because of how captivating this book was. I can’t even describe how much I loved this book. I devoured this.
This book is about these two very interesting characters, Madden and Natalie. Two people who are very a like and passionate with their loved ones. Two people who decided to fake date for maddens well being. Two people who were never supposed to fall for each other because she is his brothers girl…
You might ask yourself how they ended up in this Situation …
Every year about the Same time of the year madden and his friends meet up at this cabin, but he has a slight problem because bis ex girlfriend who broke his heart and trust is also there and trying to win him back like every other year, and this is messing pretty badly with maddens head and his well being… He always knew that he can’t ever go back to her no matter what, so the best way for her to let him be and get over him is for him to show up with his new (but fake ) “girlfriend”… The problem is every girl he ever met fell for him because he’s a rockstar and he doesn’t want things to get complicated and messy, so he asks his brothers girlfriend to fake date him for a few days while they’re at the cabin… He knew that there was no way possible for her to fall for him since she despises him and is his brothers girl…
Or so he thought …
Natalie is the girlfriend of maddens brother, who’s a lawyer and he’s the complete opposite of Natalie. She is passionate and fun, he on the other hand doesn’t even have “time “ for her. They’ve been for two years together but he’s not treating her well and while being with madden she realized how a woman should be treated. Not only did she see how a woman should be really treated but she also found out a lot of things about her boyfriend. Things he hid from her and lied to her about… By the time the week at the cabin ended she didn’t recognize her bf anymore…
But the most important question remains… Will they fall for each other ? And will madden get over his ex ? Will the succeed with their mission?
To find out more Go and read this right now 😩
Tropes: •rockstar •brothers girl •touch her and … •possessive/ protective mmc/fmc
Damn, I didn’t know exactly what to expect with this but I literally just finished reading it in one sitting because I couldn’t put it down.
First, this is the rare romance where the MMC’s perspective feels like the primary one. I felt a lot more confident in knowing Madden’s story than Natalie’s. And Madden as a lead is so great. While a lot of books follow the same formula, guy falls first, lots of “I don’t deserve this” angst, miscommunication, this book cut through all the crap and legitimately felt like a breath of fresh air. Madden has emotional intelligence, knows himself, and knows what he wants. He still has vulnerable moments, but him trying to be vulnerable isn’t a focal plot point, because he starts out with that capability.
I really liked the pacing and flow, and everything connected really smoothly, the dual POV was done well, with each switch starting where the other left off, meaning I was never distracted trying to place myself at the start of a new chapter. I was able to read straight on through.
I’d thought, with the blurb and cover, that this was going to be darker than it is, and was pleasantly surprised by the hints at darker kink, but levity throughout. The spicy scenes weren’t super plentiful, and they were a bit short, but the slow burn is so, so good.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable read, and I’m so happy with my first Victoria Ashley read.
I have not read anything that falls under the rockstar romance in years. Last time was when I read "Guitar Girl" by Sarra Manning. (That book contained barely any spice lol) And that like forever ago, I’m 29 now. 😂
But I actually stayed up for a few hours to finish this ARC. It’s 5 am now lol. I LOVED IT. I’m a sucker for fake dating/close proximity tropes but throw in a hot rockstar? Ugh fuck me up! The story between Madden & Natalie unravels at a great pace. Between getting to know each other on a simple basis, to having harder conversations, everything is timed perfectly. The spice is the perfect amount and I love that we didn’t just jump right into spice. The story built up to it and when it came time for that, it was the right amount. I was pretty emotional towards the end, when they went their separate ways, but man the ending, made me giddy.
Chefs kiss Victoria! Thank you for letting me read this ARC, can’t wait for the all the romance girlies to get their hands on this 💓

BORROWED covers some of my favourite tropes - forced proximity/fake girlfriend - and not to mention the fact that Natalie is the girlfriend of Maddens brother...this all makes for one seriously awesome story. The chemistry between these two was insane and I was on the edge of my seat waiting for that moment that they both finally gave in to their feelings. I adored this story so much that’s it’s made me want to go and read everything that Victoria Ashley has written; so my TBR is about to get a whole lot longer!
Holy Hotness i think my guilty secret love of Rock Stars has just been reborn by none other than Madden !!!! Madden has been struggling, between his public Rock Star Life and being pestered by a cheating ex, that he desperately wants to move on from, but how can he when she is still tying to manipulate his emotions. The one thing he looks forward to is his time out getaway with close friends and yet again she is going to be there!! Then he has a light bulb moment, he could borrow his brothers girlfriend as a fake girlfriend for a week Right, it would definitely get Alana off his case !!! Finally !!! Natalie is really questioning her life, her relationship with Logan is stagnant, they barely see each other and she feels like she's stuck in a ruck, but how is she gonna pretend to be Madden's girlfriend when she seriously feels so attracted to him. I absolutely fell in love with Madden and Natalie. Hot hot hot, the chemistry between both was volcanic!! Talk about steamy??? I loved this couple together, you know when you start a book and you just feel it right away that this couple are meant to be !!! The more time they spend together, and actually get to know each other, the harder you fall !!! That one big obstacle though, Madden's brother Logan !! we get insights into his and Natalie's Relationship and it makes you feel all the more that Madden is the one for her. My heart and my emotions were help captive from beginning to end, there was no way you could she how this would end, even though your heart knows how you want it to be for both Madden and Natalie. I was twisted and felt their moral anguish right along side them. GREAT BOOK, Great read, characters you can't fail to take into your heart and friends, the kind of friends we would all love to have in our lives!! whether this will be a new to you author or an author you already love (as i do!) this is a book you will definitely need on your bookshelf and one not to be missed !
When I was told this was fake dating, a Rockstar romance, and brother's best friend, I was all in!
It's a quick, enjoyable read. But the spicy scenes were too quick and not enough for me. This book is definitely heavy on the romance and fake dating aspect, more than the spicy scenes.
Also, the miscommunication near the end of the book didn't make any sense to me to the point, I wish it wasn't even there.
But overall, if you want a short romance book with minimal spice, then this is the book for you.
I loved this. Madden our broken rockstar and Natalie the sassy FMC had the perfect amount of angst and chemistry, throw in fake dating trope and I was sold. I love Victoria’s writing and this was the perfect book to read in one sitting. Highly recommend
I LOVED this book. Literally hit me in all the feels. Made me cry and laugh out loud. Should they or shouldn’t they? Rockstar’s are people too ❤️. I read this as an ARC and ordered a copy as soon as I finished reading. This is a book that I will reread again. It was truly amazing.
A new to me author but the blurb i was instantly intrigued and wanted to know more … 3.5 stars
I enjoyed the story but do feel at times it could have had so much more too. I loved their relationship i just wanted more of them more spice. at times i thought it was too much of a slow burn.
Whew, where to begin? First off, I am so grateful to have been chosen to be an ARC reader! With that, thank you!
Okay, so let's begin. I loved everything about this book!! The slow burn, the relationships, the heartache, etc. It kept me intrigued. I didn't want to put it down even when I had to! I felt like I was there in the book. Relating to all the characters. I LOVED bringing to light to everyone is a person and having a life outside of being a celebrity.
The relationship that Madden and Natalie have, gauhhhhhhhh! My heart melts. Although I figured out whom it "was" early into the book, it still didn't ruin any of it for me. I love their connection, I could feel the love they have for each other. I am mostly "let's get to it" kinda reader, but I really enjoyed this a lot! I highly recommend this book! Great job, Victoria!! I am so looking forward to reading more from you!
The storyline of ‘Borrowed’ is amazing. I am a sucker for the fake-dating trope. During the first chapter, I was a little nervous that I wouldn’t like Madden, the rock star. However, I was quick to fall in love with the character. Due to how the story is set up, it is slow to have any spice, if that is what you are looking for. The spice that is included is really good though. This book was definitely an emotional roller coaster.
I would recommend this book. I did receive this book as an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I was so thrilled to receive an ARC of this book and I devourrrrred it in under 24 hours! I absolutely love a fake dating trope and this one was phenomenal! I absolutely loved the banter between Madden and Natalie! We love a goofy rockstar and a grumpy FMC! Not to mention he’s a literal rock star who can sing and serenade her under the stars? Are you kidding me? 👀 This book was so good and I just loved all of the characters! 5/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me! It had just the right amount of spice, too! Definitely give this book a read! It deserves it!
ARC REVIEW: As soon as I started this book, I didn’t want to put it down. I loved the sweet relationship between Madden and Natalie. I did start to feel the constant mentioning of girls being obsessed with Madden get repetitive but as long as it was used in a teasing way towards her I was able to look over it. Even sometimes laughing when he mentioned it to her. When I got to the end of the book, I found myself wishing it wasn’t over. Even more so I just wanted to keep reading about the time at the cabin.
Overall a super wholesome and sweet love story and I really enjoyed it! Spice level: 🌶️.5/5
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
This book wouldn't have happened if: 1. the friends had had a stronger opinion about the ex cheating than they did (because they did jackshit about the ex harassing the MMC, basically laughed it off) 2. everyone involved had gone to therapy
There's more wrong with this, but I'm tired so I can't be bothered lmao
I prefer dual POV and this book didn't disappoint. I couldn't put it down. Madden and Natalie are perfectly matched. Natalie takes no nonsense, is overprotective, loving, caring and can give as good as she gets. Madden wears his heart on his sleeve for his fans and those he loves. And when he loves...it's unconditional, pure and powerful. The pace was just right, nothing was dragged out, the build up was on point. It was a beautiful Rollercoaster of emotions till the end.
Have you ever borrowed something and didn’t want to give it back?
Maybe she was meant to he his all along.
Madden Parker wants his ex to see he's moved on. So what's he do? He brings his brothers girlfriend on a trip as his "girlfriend". Do the lines between pretend and real get blurry?! Of course they do!
The build up to Natalie and Madden was so well written and drawn out just enough that i couldn't look away! Just had to know what was going to happen next!
Whew, I can say with an honest heart, I missed the hell out of Victoria Ashley! It has been a long damn time, and I’m so happy to finally see a new release from one of my favorite authors. If you’re looking for a romance that will consume your every thought, look no further and grab Borrowed by Victoria Ashley. Believe me when I say, you won’t be sorry!
Before I start with my full review, let me give you a little insight into what Borrowed is all about! If you all didn’t know, (to Quote the BIO on Amazon) Borrowed was recently titled Reckless Rock Star and was published as part of the Cocky Hero Club world, a series of original works, written by various authors, and inspired by Keeland and Ward's New York Times bestselling series. Now, Victoria Ashley has rebranded Natalie and Madden’s epic love story as a standalone with some fine tuning to no longer connect it to the Cocky Hero Club. She also added a spicy scene in the midst!
Now let’s get to what Borrowed is all about, shall we…
Madden Parker is at the top of his game in the rock n’ roll world. He lives for the lyrics and respects his fans. But the one thing Madden truly wants, is to finally be over his ex-girlfriend Alana…. But with the annual camping trip coming up, Madden is bound to fall right back into old patterns with Alana leading to an irrevocable heartbreak. And it doesn’t help that Alana is texting him with the notion of getting back together…. What’s a man to do.
Enter Natalie, the girlfriend of Madden Parker’s Older brother…..
Natalie is on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and her boyfriend pimping her out to his little brother isn’t helping. The situation of helping Madden out of the ex-mess isn’t a hard task, Natalie can fake it just as well as anyone else and there is absolutely no chance of her falling in love with him… The problem is, he’s not as easy to resist as she initially thought…. Bring on the feelings and bring on the drama!!
My Thoughts:
I’m going to throw it all out there, when I first picked up Borrowed, I wasn’t sure what I was getting into. For some back information, I didn’t read the previously titled Reckless Rock Star and I wasn’t even aware this was a novel. I’m a lover of rock star romances and a fan of Victoria Ashley, so I immediately requested an arc of Borrowed without knowing anything about this novel. To put it mildly, I was intrigued by the title and having read past novels from this author, Borrowed had me assuming I was in for some hardcore drama!
The premise of this novel is that a man is trying to get over his ex. His older brother knows that he’s having issues with staying away so when the man asks the older brother if he can ‘borrow’ his girlfriend for a week and fake it in front of their friends, the older brother agrees due to past… issues…. Thinking his girlfriend will say no….. Reluctantly and angrily, the girlfriend accepts boyfriend’s younger brother’s offer… and holy hell is this a recipe for delicious drama!
So let’s start with Madden Parker, rockstar extraordinaire! This man had my heart swooning and breaking all at once. There was one constant throughout this novel, that being the fact that I wanted this man to find his forever love. I wanted to see his heart mend, and I wanted him to finally move on from his ex-girlfriend Alana. I hated Alana with a fiery passion! This woman was a master at manipulation and turning the tables so he was always in the wrong… But on the other hand, I felt sorry for her. She screwed up monumentally and realized what she had a little too late in the game. Too little too late…..
Entering into this cluster of heartbreak is Natalie. Natalie is the manager of a hotel, and has been in a relationship for two years with Madden’s older brother, Logan. I loved Natalie’s independence. However, beneath the surface Natalie also wanted to be able to depend on someone. The fear of putting that part of her out there was what really had me invested in her point of view. Throughout this novel, I loved watching her give up a little bit of her independence in favor of actually putting her trust in someone like Madden. And the same goes for Madden… UGH! I feel like I’m rambling on and on….I loved seeing the friendship spark between Natalie and Madden. I loved the fact that Natalie was the kind of friend Madden needed in this situation. I loved the awkwardness that came with their fake relationship in the beginning. The tense vibes and the awkward moments had me falling in love with a trope that I normally don’t read. I also loved watching these two accept something into their lives that was missing through the years, that being an everlasting love.
And then we have the dramatic point where secrets are exposed and people are FINALLY put on blast! I’ll admit, I predicted the outcome… but oddly enough it didn’t let me down like it typically does. Without giving anything away, I’m just going to say, my heart broke for all involved…
Now on to why I rated this book the way I did. I decided to give Borrowed by Victoria Ashley five stars because it had me invested from beginning to end. I literally could not put this book down. When I walked the dog, I was reading. When I folded laundry, I was reading. When I cooked dinner, I was reading. This romance had me consumed! I wanted to do nothing but read the day away and I haven’t felt that vibe in a very long time! What more can I say aside from I loved everything about Madden and Natalie’s romance! And if you enjoy slowburn with a forbidden vibe, chances are you’ll love this one too!
Overall, Borrowed was a great read. There isn’t anything about this novel that I would change!! My heart feels full and content! This is definitely a rock star romance novel I will be recommending in the very near future!
Hands down a 5 star rating from me. I received an ARC copy of this book, and absolutely had to have a physical copy as well because that's how much I loved it. The chemistry, the drama, the angst, the raw feelings of the characters... I adored every word. 1st person isn't normally my favorite point of view to read from, but with the way this story captivated me from the beginning, I didn't even mind. I didn't have a second thought about it once I started reading.
The story starts off with Madden, the rock star brother and MMC, onstage performing with his band RISK. From the very beginning, you're hooked by the performance and Madden's thoughts and feelings while performing and after he gets offstage. While onstage, you quickly find out that Madden isn't just some rock star who's only in it for the money. He sees a guy in the crowd yelling at a girl and stops the music, calling the girl onstage. He twists the words to one of RISK's most famous songs to fit her situation ("...fuck Brad. She's better off without you...") and then kisses her onstage in front of everybody. Was it a little reckless? Sure. Was it a great way to get some insight on how Madden feels about the situation? Yes.
What also gave us some insight into Madden was the skip to the next morning, when he wakes up with that girl in his bed. We find out that he slept with her because Alana, Madden's ex who still has his heart, texted him and it fucked with his head enough that he threw back a shit ton of liquor and made some bad choices. This is just the beginning of Madden's story.
Chapter three introduces us to Natalie. We're immediately shown that she's a tough girl, someone who can handle herself, and also someone who is used to having to do so. (Foreshadowinggg~) She's a manager at a hotel, and is also dating Madden's brother, Logan. They've been together for about two-ish years.
Without going point by point of what happens during the book, Logan gives Madden permission to "borrow" Natalie for a trip where Madden's ex will be. It's a trip that Madden is determined to go on every year, because it gives him a break from the world of fame. Logan seems less interested in going and more interested in working. He's never taken Natalie or introduced her to their friends.
Oh, yeah. Did I mention that Natalie and Madden don't get along?
There's a reason for this, but you'll have to read to find out.
The story revolves mostly around this trip, where Natalie has to pretend she doesn't hate Madden (spoiler: it's easier than you think) so the others think they're together. They get off to a rocky start, and things don't seem to get easier to them. Especially when you find out the real reason why Alana is a piece of shit ex to Madden.
There is a HEA, which I loved. The book is also a slow burn, but it's well worth the wait. As someone who wants plot over spice, I was pleased with the tension and foreplay between Natalie and Madden before they did the deed. The writing was phenomenal, and none of the characters felt flat or boring.
If you're on the fence about reading, pick it up!

Madden is the lead singer in a rock band. They’ve had great success around the world. Touring can be a lot of work and very stressful, and Madden enjoys his downtime with friends and family. While he’s looking forward to the annual camping trip with his childhood friends, he’s worried about running into his ex-girlfriend. The breakup really hurt Madden, and he fell into a depression that affected those around him, including his bandmates. To kind of alleviate the risk of running into his ex, he asks his brother if he can borrow his girlfriend Natalie for the week. None of their friends have met Natalie, so it should be easy to pull off. Besides, unlike his legion of female fans, Natalie doesn’t even like him. They should be able to fake affection for a few days, and he can enjoy the downtime. His brother agrees to it even before either of them ask Natalie. She’s understandably upset, but reluctantly agrees. Needless to say, the first couple days are a bit awkward between them. But when Natalie meets Madden’s ex, she doesn’t like her at all, and is determined to make sure there’s no doubt she and Madden are a happy couple.
As Madden and Natalie spend more time together, it becomes easier to appear as a couple. They get more comfortable with the other, and begin to see each other differently. They have fun with everyone and each other. Both know it’s wrong, but their fondness starts to turn into something else. Both know this “relationship” has an expiration date. Madden will go back on the road with his band, and Natalie will return to Madden’s brother.
I really enjoyed this story, and I’m so glad Victoria Ashley is writing again. There are issues with Madden and Natalie that I won’t list for fear of spoiling the story. There are family dynamics that come into play, and I loved how Victoria managed them. Madden and Natalie both have things they need to work through and understand about themselves. I love all the characters—maybe except for one—and hope there’s a follow-up with them. The camping trip seemed like so much fun, even with all the drama. I loved how the friends all supported each other, even though they had a few conflicts between them. This was a great story, and I highly recommend it.
Borrowed by Victoria Ashley should be your first read on December 18th when the book releases!
First of all, many thanks to Victoria Ashley for the advanced reader copy. This review is entirely my own choice and opinion, I was not paid to read or leave a review.
"I'm a sucker for love even when it kills me." Same, Madden, same. That's precisely why I enjoyed this book so much.
We start off straight into "rockstar" Madden's world: him on stage, "drenched in sweat from head to toe" and quickly get a peak into his character when he looks out into the crowd to find a woman being pushed around by who we soon find out his her boyfriend. In an attempt to show this woman that she deserves better (and to piss off her boyfriend, obviously) Madden pulls the woman on stage and serenades her with his music... and lips. The whole world sees his actions on stage, including Madden's ex Alana, who cheated on him and doesn't seem to want to let go by sending Madden texts telling him that she can't wait to see him on their annual friends-cation.
Distraught at the idea of having to see Alana, and potentially falling into her grasp again, Madden formulates a plan to bring a fake girlfriend on the trip with him. But who could he bring that he wouldn't risk falling in love with him?
Natalie is a strong-willed, feisty, independent hotel manager. While her job definitely has it's ups and downs, she is dedicated to it but long overdue for a vacation according to her coworkers, and even her boss. When Madden comes to her with the idea of being his fake girlfriend on the trip, it seems that her need for a vacation may be granted. The only issue... she's dating his brother.
This is a slow-burn, brother's girl, rockstar romance that will leave you with all the feels (happy, sad, angry). The relationship between all of the friends is so relatable and easily believable. The build-up in the relationship between Madden and Natalie was like being on a roller coaster. A slow ride to the top, but a glorious fall when it happens.
Borrowed by Victoria Ashley should be your first read on December 18th when the book releases.

Raiting 4.75⭐️ Spice 🌶.5 slow burn Tropes: - Rockstar Romance - Fake Dating - Forced proximity - Brother's Girlfriend - Slow Burn - Possessive MMC & FMC - Protective - Touch her and die vibes
This was my first book by the author. I really enjoyed this book. I'm not normally a big fan of slow burns, but this book was written nicely. You saw the chemistry and relationship grow between the two MC.
Madden can have any girl he wants. He's a Rockstar with arrogance to match. Every year, he goes on a camping trip to meet friends. The only problem is his ex is going to be there, and she wants him back. The problem is that she really messed with Maddens head, and trust. He comes up with the only thing he can think of. Being a woman who won't fall for him, and pretend to fake her.
Natalie is Madden Brother's girlfriend. They have been dating for 2 years now. Madden and his brother are complete opposites. His brother is a lawyer. Natalie is a sassy mouth, fun, and passionate woman. She also can't stand Madden. So, this arrangement should work out well. These lines can't blur, so all should work out well. Or so you'd think.
Natalie starts to realize that her boyfriend had been hiding things from her and lying. She sees how she should be treated in a relationship by Madden. They both become protective and possessive over each other and the others feelings.
The ex that is wanting Madden back is an awful character. I didn't like her at all, nor how she treated the main characters. The problem is she's messing with Madden's head. That definitely didn't need to happen, for Madden's well being.
The more time Madden and Natalie spend together. The closer they become and the more that line blurs. The chemistry between the 2 MC is unreal. Natalie enjoys the way she being treated, and Madden likes treating her like the girlfriend she deserves to be. Even if it is fake. When the week is over and they go their sel ways, I swear I almost freak. It couldn't possibly end that way, can it?
This is a must-read. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys Rockstar romances. I received this as an ARC, and this is my honest and fair review.
Madden Parker has the world at his fingertips and never wants for anything... well except for a woman that will definitely not fall for him, but act like she is madly in love with him for the purposes of deterring his ex-girlfriend. But where is he going to find a girl like that when every girl he meets falls at his feet?
Borrowed is the story of two people who don't particularly like one another, but find themselves spending quality time together at an secluded cabin for a few days... and the best part is that they are supposed to be pretending they are madly in love. When Madden asked Natalie to help him out and pretend to be his girl in order to keep his ex away she thought he was out of his mind... the two of them spending time together and acting like they enjoyed one another's company was a stretch.
But then things shifted between them, understanding and unexpected feelings took hold and Natalie started to see the appeal of the playboy rock star. He wasn't quite the guy the media painted him to be... he was actually someone she could like. Which was scary in itself, but then stronger feelings started to sneak in and that was hard to believe, could she really fall for a guy like him?
Borrowed is a wonderfully penned slow burn romance that will hit you right in the feels, these two damaged souls have painful pasts and when those come to light things get really emotional. But there are lighter moments too, and those are the ones that will have your heart skipping a beat. These two were a perfect pairing, even if first appearances lead you to believe otherwise. I loved watching them fall for one another, their story was not only entertaining, but quite heartfelt too. Highly recommend this one, these characters will steal your attention right from the get-go!
