When Truman's ice cream melts, his sister Brenda discovers that the stick is a prize winner and claims ownership, leading to anger and arguments among the school friends
This book has sentimental value to me as it was one of those books I remember reading as a kid. I wonder if this was the beginning of my unhealthy relationship with food. Anyway, We Scream for Ice Cream is part of a series I knew nothing about called School Friends. It was written by Bernice Chardiet and Grace Maccarone, with illustrations by G. Brian Karas in 1992. It's about a group of friends/enemies who all go out to the ice cream truck. they quarrel and then they get ice cream that doesn't taste good and they find a lucky stick that gets the owner a free ice cream sundae, only they all think the stick is rightfully theirs. So they quarrel some more. It finally takes a lot of fighting and loss to understand the meaning of sharing and correcting the wrong that's been done. It's not great literature or anything, but I remember enjoying it as a kid. My rating - 3/5
