Miss Bethany Galloway has had enough of the perilous and savage beauty of the West, and she is determined to travel to Boston, leaving the regret and pains of the past behind. Except, to her distress, Joshua Kincaid has other ideas, namely courting and then marrying her. Although she is passionately drawn to Joshua’s dangerous charm, he represents everything Beth is running from—lawlessness. She struggles to escape the desires awakened by his touch. However, his kisses and gentle seduction ignites within her an irresistible, aching need to stay with him, despite wanting to flee from the dangerous men hunting her.
I am an unapologetic romance lover. I read it. I write it. Enough said. Well..I also have a warrior way "Never give up on my dreams." I spend a copious amount of time drooling over Rick Grimes from Walking Dead, watching Japanese anime and playing video games with my love, Dusean.
Miss Bethany Galloway has had enough of the perilous and savage beauty of the West, and she is determined to travel to Boston, escaping the regret, pain and horror she has endured thanks to the deception she fell for. However the man who helped her get away, rancher and gunslinger Joshua Kincaid has other ideas and is determined to court her right into marriage.
I liked how the heroine matures in this book, and reveals a inner strength that means she's no cowering Miss. I finished this book wanting her skill at throwing a knife (if the zombie apocalypse ever comes it would be a good skill to have).
Some of the men in this book were such slimy reptiles - URGH - luckily the hero wasn't one.
Stacy Reid's HR books are becoming favs of mine. I did enjoy this one but there was something missing, I haven't finished with a driving urge to read any more in this particular series.
I would recommend reading the first in the series before this one. I did not and there seemed to be some overlap with the first book.
This was a very angsty story. It was hard for me to like Beth at times because I just wanted her to be with Joshua. But she kept pushing him away and then would get upset when he didn't shower her with attention. It ended nicely and glad that Joshua was determined to fight for her.
Overall, I just don't think I clicked with SR's writing. This is the third book of hers that I have tried and the first I was to finish.
Tempting Bethany by Stacy Reid is a western romance book set in various states all across the US.
Joshua meets Bethany at a saloon where her husband sells her off to him in exchange of a few gold coins. After spending some time together, he leaves only to return and witness the husband abusing Bethany. He kills him for it but Bethany runs away and then they meet a couple of years later, Bethany having become a mother to their son, Grayson. Joshua then begins a tenuous journey of convincing Bethany to marry him.
I must say, although the romance was good, I was very put off with the portrayal of brutality throughout the book. Joshua wasn't really a prince charming imo considering he did sleep with Bethany literally just when they met. It was more motivated by lust than love imo. I did not appreciate the gun violence and all the savagery throughout the book and this would have been much more pleasant if it was a straightforward romance.
Absolutely love this book I've been looking forward to this story after reading its sister book though each could be read as a stand alone, we did meet our hero and heroine in that book also I loved. Not for the fainthearted but the old wild west wasn't for the fainthearted after all.
As always I will not give spoilers but will say this story is amazing has everything you'd want in a romance and obstacles to overcome. I always say the harder the won hea the stronger it is, and that love is definitely the best medicine, certainly helped me while Ive been recovering.
Thank you Stacy for writing it and the honour our of reading it ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
What an emotionally powerful read. Packed with deep emotions, drama, and pain. Bethany has had more than her fair share of misfortunes and suffering. Her story is heartbreaking and deeply moving. Joshua was everything you could want in a hero. He is strong, kind and honorable. I loved these two together. Their romance is sweet, passionate, steamy and beautiful. I'm posting a completely honest, voluntary review after reading this book.
This is the first Western romance I’ve read by Stacy Reid and it won’t be the last. I went weak at the knees for Joshua Kincaid, and I’m still a bit breathless when I think about him... Stacy’s descriptions are so awesome, you can see, smell and taste the wild west, and the resonance stays with you long after you put the book down. Which I couldn’t. Not until I’d finished it lol! Thoroughly recommend to anyone who likes a good, gritty, love story which keeps you guessing until the very end!
Tempting Bethany by Stacy Reid is the Second book in The Kincaids Series. This is the story of Bethany Galloway and Joshua Kincaid. I have read the previous book (and Loved It!) but feel this is easily a standalone book. Bethany married Benjamin Hardin thinking he was someone that would make a good husband. But it turned out he was not. Harding had her working at a Salon serving drinks became abusive and then played a bad card game which he put her in the card pot. Enough was enough when Joshua won her in the card game for two hour. After their time together, Bethany ranaway to go to her brother's ranch and hoped never to see Hardin again. But a few years later Bethany is reunited with Joshua along with their attraction. But this time there is little someone else in her life. Ms. Reid is such a great writer that brings you into the story. I am usually not a big fan of the western time frame but with Ms. Reid writing it turns a story into one that is hard to put down. Loved it!
Writing Joshua and Bethany's book was wonderful. Their journey to love has been anticipated, and I thank you guys for messaging me asking me WHEN. Your dozens of emails kept me awake plotting and thinking about the complicated situation I introduced in , and then their story spilled from my heart. I hope you enjoy reading Tempting Bethany as much as I loved writing it.
A fast paced adventure that sweeps you away to the old west. Bethany Galloway has not know much happiness in her life. She married a bounder who she thought at first was acceptable, but he quickly started treating her badly. Having to work in her husband's saloon she is subjected to a lot and when she is used as collateral in a gambling wager she is sold off like chattel. She meets Joshua Kincade, who is the only one who has been kind to her, but as her husband beats her soundly in jealousy, she has no choice but to get away. As fate would have it, she meets Joshua again, two years later while she is working at her late brother's ranch. Everything comes to a head because Bethany has a secret that Joshua did not know about. Can she finally find happiness or will her past keep her tied in misery? This is such an emotional story with the heartaches that Bethany has had to endure and Joshua just warms the heart. Stacy Reid's wonderful touch has this story tugging at the heart and will not let you go until the end.
I read Taming Elijah and loved it and thought this would be just as wonderful. Let me say, it surpassed it. I really loved this book. The emotions of living in the West during this time period are brought out to perfection. You can feel the love of Joshua and Bethany right from the beginning of the story. Bethany is strong and rises over the tragedy of an emotional marriage but Joshua steals the book, he is loyal, kind, honorable and (sigh) swoon-worthy.
Loved it! I've read a few others from this author, but this is by far my Favorite! Even though its part of a series this still reads well as a standalone. I will for sure be going back and reading the first one!!
The cover is awful, not related to a good story. The h is naïve and needs to be rescued and lucky for her, the H is ready to do the deed, in more ways than one. I really liked that the h learned so much about what was important to her. She matured and made better decisions as the story unfolded and the H was a good hero. Good story.
I have only just got into historical westerns, but I love them. This story was so romantic, even though it is the wild west. Very sexy scenes too. Loved it! 4☆
Bethany's husband puts her up as a bet in a card game that Joshua Kincaid wins. He ends up marrying her after the demise of her rotten husband, but she only wants to go back East, away from the dangers of the West (including her new husband). It's a typical western romance but very steamy.
Tempting Bethany The Kincaids book two by Stacy Reid Rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heat 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Bethany Galloway had the misfortune to marry Benjamin Hardin, a man who misrepresented himself as a kind and caring man. He had her working in his saloon serving drinks, but she knew it was only a matter of time before he forced her to use her body for his profits. To her horror one evening his betting ran out of control loosing everything, he added her virtue to the table! Her only hope would be for the drifter named Joshua Kincaid to win and hopefully escape from the beatings and hell she was living in.
After experiencing tenderness and kindness with Joshua, Bethany finds herself in danger, her life in peril she flees her husband after he violently beats her in a jealous rage. Two years later she’s raising her son Grayson and helping her friend Sheridan at her late brothers ranch. And coming face to face with her sons father....Joshua Kincaid! Everything comes crashing at her feet when her past comes knocking and puts everyone in danger.
WOW!!!! What an amazing action packed story! This was a highly anticipated story for me, which I’ve been waiting forever to read!
Stacy Reid has a magical gift in bringing her stories to life. She’s created unforgettable characters, a rich descriptive setting that brings this book- series- to a new level. This western romance is sexy, sensual and hot, full of emotions and one heck of an adventure. Just like the old classic black and white western movies this book comes to life! I love the Kincaid family and can’t wait to read Noah’s and Jenny’s stories. I highly, highly recommend this addictive read!
I was gifted a complimentary copy from the author, this is my honest unbiased opinion.
I usually don’t read Western historical romance novels as my first reading choice but I’m always open to a good series.
I love series around family members or a group of friends. I love the series even more when the author intertwines those characters throughout the book series (it’s a pet peeve when authors don’t do that because what’s the point of the series and introducing the characters if they are not going to interact throughout the series). You meet the family in all the books however not a lot interaction throughout.
The development and interest in main characters and secondary characters was enjoyable. I really did like the H/H for this book; very well paired as a couple.
I loved the writing around the women empowerment (it wasn’t over the top for me).
writing style is easy to follow, humorous moments, the give and take dialogue enjoyable.
the writing style has some modern wording/phrases use however that didn’t stop me from enjoying the book.
Romantic/sexual content (kissing, oral, love making scenes) was throughout the book. Nothing over the top; again nicely intertwined in the story. There are a few detailed written scenes and several just mentioning the act. 3/5 hotness and steam.
Miss Bethany Galloway left Boston when she married Benjamin Hardin only to find he was in no way the gentleman she thought he was. He owns a saloon in Liberty & there makes Beth work serving drinks until one night when Benjamin is losing heavily in a card game & adds Beth to the pot. Joshua Kincaid wins the pot & two hours with Beth. Beth flees that night to her brother Thomas’ ranch where she spends the next two years always fearing Benjamin will come for her but instead it’s Joshua who arrives to help his elder brother Elijah. I read this immediately after reading Taming Elijah & whilst both books could be read as standalones I’d recommend reading in order as they read so well together. This is another very accomplished book by the author, the story flows very well & at times leaves you breathless. The characterisation is very good, Beth is very likeable & to begin with was too meek & mild for the life in the West but circumstances’ toughened her up’. Joshua is honourable & doesn’t go looking for trouble but also won’t stand by & see women & children hurt. There is violence in the book but then they were violent times but there’s also romance & how Joshua treats Beth & Grayson is so gentle & loving. I look forward to Noah & Jenny’s stories My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

My Thoughts:
I just don't usually read western romance but since I'm a Stacy Reid fan I gave this one a try. To my surprise I really liked it. Not that I have ever read one of Stacy's books that I didn't enjoy. If written by Stacy Reid I have now found there isn't much I don't like of her writing style. I gave this unusual read for me 4.25 of 5.0 stars for storyline and characterization and a hot sensual rating of 4.5 of 5.0 flames. The intimacy is really well described and sensual. I received a complimentary ARC of this title from the author to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
This story was exciting and interesting for Beth had married a man who ended up being cruel and beat her made her work in his saloon delivering drinks and her husband was playing poker with Kincaid and others but he was losing big time! So he put up Beth as collateral and said that who won gave him back his bets and then they could spend an hour upstairs with her Beth was horrified! She was a virgin because he couldn't get it up and blamed her but Beth had planned to runaway and saved up some money to go But Kincaid won and she had to go upstairs with him but she knew that he would be nice too her not knowing she was an innocent. But Beth and Lucas would be on for many surprises
I just didn't think that the end was lacking excitement and showing that Lucas was truely a dangerous and loved the land!
What a captivating read! The two main characters are Joshua and Bethany. Joshua was handsome in a rugged way and had a wildness about him but he’s as also very protective of those he loved. His family was very important to him. Bethany was used to Boston and found the West much too lawless for her liking. However, Joshua and Bethany had more than an attraction to each other but how could they resolve their differences. They are a number of dangerous events in the story. This was a fast paced story that kept me entertained until the end. I hadn’t read the previous one in the series but this didn’t affect my enjoyment. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
When I read this author’s books, I feel like when you visit a loved old friend. This was a definite 5 star book. I could write pages about this book and why I liked it, but is unneeded. I loved the main H/h, but all the others too, with a few exceptions. I loved the sweet romantic part, with great steamy love. It was hard to stop, for even necessary reasons, exciting all the way. Kept you guessing till end. A lot of intrigue, action throughout. In the end all the loose ends wrapped up. Highly recommend this and all books by this author. Not necessary, but best read in order of series. Can’t wait to start her next book I already have.
This is the second in the Kincaid series and in my opinion much better. Joshua was by far a better man and lover than his brother Elijah. Bethany was crazy for not wanting to be with him immediately, though I understand her reasoning. Still I hate she thought it was fair to keep a man from his child. Fathers truly have no rights, she had no right to take Grayson all the way to Boston when his father loved him and wanted to be in his life. Joshua was never anything but loving and supportive of her. He treated her like a princess. I’m just just glad she came to her senses.
Book two in The Kincaids series. Full length can be read and enjoyed as stand-alone with each book about a Kincaid sibling. Secondary characters are the same throughout the series. It takes place in the American west. Bethany knows firsthand that the area is lawless and violent especially for women. She wants to return to the east with her son where people are more civilized and genteel. Joshua is a bit of a drifter who takes the law into his own hands to protect women & children. They learn to understand each other’s ways and compromise on their road to HEA.
Joshua Kincaid is a woman's hero. His brooding good looks and stoic mien mask a hero of epic proportions. And isn't Beth just the lucky girl to capture his heart.
This novel takes us to the post war Wild West where life was cheap and treacherous for the few women who found themselves at the mercy of brutal men.
I enjoyed the story and was happy to see Beth get her HEA.
Bethany married a man she knew for just a few weeks. She thought adventure was in her future. She did not realize he was not the man he pretended to be. Life was now a nightmare. He placed her in the pot of a card game to recoup his losses. The man who won her scared her but he seemed better than the others in the game. Running is her plan after getting through this night. A graphic account of life for a woman in the old west.
Everything got wrapped in a pretty bow, and loose ends happen in the real world. There doesn't have to be an absurd coincidence to tie up the hanging threads. The porn star sex scenes were unexpected but fitting in a novel about the main character being raw and savage.
This story has some violence and brutality, but is also contains sensual and beautiful love scenes. I wish I had read the previous book as there were a couple parts of this story that were hold overs from it that would have made a little more sense, but this book can stand alone.
Every time i read a book in this series, i get sucked in and read it in one sitting. They start out great but the third act conflict always disappoints me. I loved Joshua and what he is all about. I loved that from the moment he learned he had a son, he wanted to be apart of his life and he wanted Bethany too. Bethany had a rough beginning in the west and i understood why she was reticent in accepting Joshua and his way of life however when things came to ahead, it was too much for me. I expected Bethany to stay and fight but instead she fled and Joshua was the one that was willing to give up his life. I wanted more for her. I'm still excited to read the next book!
Good western story with a great plot, but be warned there is very graphic sex. I skipped over those pages because I could. I like westerns, I’m more interested in the story than the sex. But if that’s your thing…. There’s also some profanity it’s not overly done.
Oh So Tempting! Bethany and Joshua meet during a very stressful time in her life which had turned out to be not what she expected it to be. Dear Joshua is a knight in shining armour and he somehow manages to save or rescue her whenever she needs it. Love can only be the outcome of this torrid romance and it was so beautifully written into their wonderful story.
