I’m sorry, son. Your mother had a one-night stand, and I never caught your father’s last name...
Those were the words that single mother, Deja Scarlett dreaded having to ever utter to her child. The past year she has made the most out of her situation, working hard and making ends meet. She’s had to think of what was best for her son, and lived her life for him. She loved her son more than life itself and knew that one day that she would have to admit to him that he was conceived during a one-night stand on Christmas Eve, and she never caught his father’s last name.
He almost let his mate slip through his fingers…
Tiger shifter, Dixon Blackburn needed to find a reason to head back to Breckenridge, Colorado. He decided to have the tiger’s council’s retreat in Colorado the second year in a row to give him an excuse to go back. He had left something behind in the snow-covered town in the form of a curvy waitress named Deja. His tiger had thought of nothing else since last Christmas Eve, leading him to believe that he may have left his mate behind in Colorado. Determined to remedy his mistake, he heads back to the mountains and finds that he left more behind than just his mate.
Dixon isn’t the only one that discovered the secret that was nestled in Breckenridge. His rival, the alpha of the lion shifters has taken an interest in Deja, and Dixon is willing to do whatever it takes to protect his newly discovered family — even it it’s a fight to the death.

A quite good read but a predictable one. A waitress, single mom trying hard to work for ends to meet. The father of the baby is an alpha of a tiger clan and has a position in their organization. They meet again.... Some fight scenes with another shifter. Happily ever after. The end.
What if things goes this way: The tiger alpha Dixon met Deja, the waitress, got their one night stand then not knowing Deja is pregnant Dixon leaves then as the belly became known here comes Tyson, the lion alpha, help Deja to her pregnancy knowing it is Dixon son she is carrying... A nice angle... Just trying to tweak something... But I'm not the writer...
I gave 2 stars because stories like this needs improvement in terms of imagination. This could be made into something more beautiful if someone just don't follow the norms.
Deja is struggling to make ends meet as a waitress, trying to keep last years present and herself afloat. Her 3 month old baby boy is the apple of her eye, but every time she looks at her precious Augie she is reminded of her one night stand, he is the spitting image of the hunk that took her breath away in one passion filled night....And now.....it's Deja vu' vavoom as she sees the man she has never stopped fantasizing about sitting at her station a year later. Once again Santa might be bringing her a better present, in the form of her baby's daddy.
Tiger shifter Dixon can't stop thinking about the one night stand he had a year ago, his tiger won't leave him alone reminding him that he left his mate behind that night. Now as he returns to the lodge where he first saw her he wonders if it might be too late for him.
Amazing christmas story or anything story. I read it in one sitting and I just love Dixon and Deja! My heart swoons for him. She is the luckiest girl around.
This is my first read by this author. It was a nice quick intalove shifter/mate story which is exactly what I was looking for. I will definitely check out more by Ariel Marie.
This was certainly a great read. The characters very likeable and the story just flowed spectacularly. The right amount of romance and light drama. A great quick afternoon read. I'll definitely be looking for more from this author.
I liked the writing: clear, interesting, characters are multidimensional and I freely admit the shifter-fated-mate trope is a favorite of mine. That's star #1.
Star #2 is for Dixon and Deja. She's hard working, loves her son, created a support system, and didn't opt for an abortion. She, as well as Dixon, take responsibility for their choice to have unprotected sex. Dixon is a good guy, his main mistake is not listening to his tiger. I enjoyed their trust in one another and that in this world, he can be marked as mated too.
So why take any stars off?
1) The erotica is at least 1/3 of the book. Good news if you like it steamy. Not good if, like me, you want more story. It is essentially a short story padded with erotica. I liked what story was there and disappointed there was not more.
2) This is a much used trope: the one night stand is--huge oops--their fated mate and left behind, pregnant. There are creative ways to build off of and around that, with delightful twists and mysteries. That wasn't even attempted here! Disappointing. Other tired tropes are: the enemy threatening the mate and the inability to control their sexual behavior in the presence of their mate. Disappointing.
3) The slightly bitter aftertaste this tale left in my mind. Birth control is the norm for one night stands, so Dixon leaving his mate in a tough situation and then ignoring his tiger for a full year is just wrong. Dixon's casual uncaring comment about having lots of one night stands also diminishes him in my eyes.
In sum, there are much better ways to write this story and better ways for these characters to live. This is not a book I will reread or keep.
It’s no secret that Ariel Marie is one of my favorite paranormal romance authors. I never met her but call her friend. I love, love, her vampire’s tales and wanted to see her what magic she could produce with a tiger shifter tale. Well, I read A Tiger’s Gift in record time. True it was a short read for me, but it went by fast because I couldn’t put it down. The romantic story was filled with laughter and anticipation, and a lot of sexy, hot, scenes. There is one thing I noticed in reading this book compared to my favorite books from Ariel Marie like the saga of the royal Olaru family, is that her skills as an author has become masterful. Kudos this book is awesome and a must-read for any paranormal romance lover.
Deja had the best night of her life last Christmas. Everything she could have wanted in one big package. She didn’t even need a big red ribbon because this package was complete on its own. Dixon met his mate by chance that snowy night and he hasn’t forgotten one detail. She’s haunted him every night until he can’t stand to stay away. If he could find her he knows he can convince her he’s the perfect man for her. He’s just not sure how she feels about tigers......
I loved this book! I’m a huge shifter fan and I’m always looking for a great author. Ariel Marie is great and I’m going to read the rest of her series.
Deja is a waitress who, last year met the man of her dreams. Dixon is in town only a couple of days, when he meets Deja. She is irrisitible to him and his tiger. They have one glorious night before he returned home. He can't stop thinking of Deja and hasn't wanted another woman since their might together. Deja cannot forget Dixon, not only because her heart aches for him but because their one night together created, August, their son. It is a great read, and I read it in one seating. It would be a nice series to read if she continues on with more books.
A pleasant read if you can ignore the hero’s actions. Ignoring Dixon’s actions this is a pleasant read with a good plot and nice ending. Never keen on idiot males that don’t realize who their mate is at the time. Waits a whole year, really, before he heads back. It’s not like she had a common name so would have been easy to find. Hate it even worse when they have been with other women in the meantime whilst getting their head out of their butts. Then get all possessive/aggressive when they are asking the woman who she has been with since them. Heroine was okay, at least she had a son to think off so can accept her trying to form a relationship with a one night stand guy.
It's a fast paces second-chance romance after a one night stand and I really liked it. Even it's short in length, I feel like we got to know the characters and their romance felt good. I adore little Augie and the family vibes were on point.
I will say I was a little confused over the second part of the plot which was the lions vs tigers thing. I would've loved to have more context on it and why the lions were after Deja in the first place but I did think the ultimate challenge was written very well. A very enjoyable read.
Ok, Dixon is a little dense and waits a year to find the woman he knows is his mate; He’s hoping not too much time has passed. Deja had a one-night stand and will most likely never have a chance to tell her son about his father, because she didn’t even get his last name. Dixon and Deja finding each other is a sweet and steamy romance with a wonderful happy end. For me it was a quick read, which I love in between the responsibilities of my daily life.
This story about Dixon Blackrun and Deja Scarlet whose had a one night affair. Deja got pregnancy with his child but he didn't know about it.
Dixon find out that Deja Scarlett is life mate and She is human. Dixon Blackrun is Tigers shifter whom find he had life mate and She have his baby. I would recommend this book to my family and friends to read also to buy this book. This story have sex and actually in it .I Enjoy this book.
This is a fast paced shifter story. I found it to be entertaining. The heroine was sweet and the hero strong and caring. This story has a second chance at rekindling a mated relationship, some action. I wish the author would have put a little more description and page time for the fight scene but still an entertaining read. This is a story worth reading of you're looking for a short shifter romance to read!
This is a new author but a favor story line. I love reading about the shifter world. This is about a one night stand that ended with him leaving a bit more than memories behind. She loves her son. But with no last name she didn't know how to tell him. But fate steps in. He is back. Can he keep her and his son safe from those who want to harm them? And will she, a human, accept him, car and alk?
Deja has a three month of son by Dixon (a tiger shifter) . They met last Christmas for one night and this Christmas he has returned. Little do each know the other has secrets for the other. She doesn't know shifters are real or that her son is one. He doesn't know he is a father. But both wonder if the other remembers them. A special cute little story.
This was cute, fast paced shifter story. I love secret baby books and this one didn't disappoint. I really liked how much Dixon and Deja care for each other and how Dixon did everything in his power to protect Deja and Augie from the people who would use them against him. Overall this was a cute story and was something that didn't take too long to read while still giving us a story that wasn't just about sex.
Deja is a human waitress who caught Dixon’s eye. He was visiting for a council meeting. Dixon asked her to meet up after her shift. One thing led to another and a truly wonderful night of adult fun! Dixon wanted to spend more time with Deja. However, she had left by the time he woke up. What neither knew is that they made a gift. Read On!
Absolutely amazing. A memorable short love story about a waitress who had a one night stand and got pregnant and the guy who was a shifter who couldn’t stop thinking about her. The author has a wonderful way with words. Her story was like a vivid movie in my head as I was reading. I picked this book up on a Stuff your Kindle Day event and found a new author to follow. Am hoping I can at some point purchase everything she gas written. Definitely recommend with a two thumbs up.
Deja's (strange name) one night stand leads to a big surprise...she says that she didn't get Dixon's last name so couldn't contact him...she's a waitress at a hotel...couldn't she find out his name by finding his reservation??? Dixon also didn't make a big effort in finding Deja; even though his tiger was going nuts for her. Anyways, they eventually find each other again and cute baby is revealed.
This book is about Deja. A single waitress who meets Dixon at her work. After a few days of his visits she decides to spend a night with him. She left in the morning without a word. Not knowing in 9 months she would be a mother. A year later she sees him again. What happens from three is magic.
About a year ago, Deja had a one night stand with the most amazing guy ever. He gave her a wonderful gift that Christmas, her son August. Dixon, a tiger shifter realized the reason he longed to see Deja was because she was his mate. But with neither of them knowing each other's last name, will they be able to find one another before the lion that's out for blood gets to Deja first?
This is a nice short PNR about a tiger shifter and his human mate. I usually do not like short reads because they always feel like it was too rushed and things were left out but this book is the exception. This was a good story, a little on the fast side but it did not take away from the story. This book I would recommend.
A quick night of passion and both of their lives changed. For Deja, it meant a son. For Dixon, it meant a driving need to find his little waitress and claim her once again. When he finds out about his child, what will his next move be? This is a passionate PNR novella. It’s was a quick but very satisfying read. Would love to see this turn into a series.
This was a decent story. No bells or whistles; pretty straightforward. What I found odd was the lack of any physical description beyond the color of the H eyes. Oh, and that she had "black hair". To be honest, I like straightforward stories. Still, a lack of description of the lead characters is a hard "No" for me. I won't be reading any others.
1 night stand leads to a family in this story. The characters were well written and very believable. A shifter stories go this was a very mild 1... Yes there was a deaf, yes there was blood, but throughout the story there was love. I read it romance stories for the love part of it and this fulfilled that.
I really enjoyed this story. Deja had a one night stand the year before that gave her her son. Dixen doesn't know but his tiger is drawn back to Deja. I loved these two together and their story had a nice flow.
My first read of 2018! If this story is any indication of how my reading year is going to go, I am extremely happy!
I liked it, a lot. Author Marie is the Mistress of Paranormal Romance. I swooned. I smiled. And that ending left me with a warm heart. To sum this story up with one word: Awe!
