When Conscience Speaks defines conscience, describes its functions and operations from a Christian perspective. In this second edition, the book has kept its goal in striving to identify and correct, from a Biblical point of view, some of the major conceptual misunderstandings of conscience and its role in our growth and spiritual maturity.
A chapter called the “Voice of Conscience” has been added to bring the reader closer to the manner which conscience ‘speaks’ or expresses itself. Though the “Voice of Conscience” is not audible in the from a literal viewpoint, when our conscience speaks, we all know the meanings.
We cannot take personal credit for the so-called goodness of ours? We cannot boast that this goodness is natural in us or arises by our human effort. We were all born with a self-knowledge of right and wrong. We know that we did not accumulate all that we know over time and with experiences. And we all know that we do wrong things or make mistakes.
Why do we feel guilty? Why do we inwardly demand that we be rewarded for our good deeds? What is this right and wrong or good and bad we are so often concerned about? These are some of life’s important question this book answers.
