Eric and Jamie are father and son. Eric still mourns his wife, Jamie his mother. As we open this book, Eric, a successful artist is planning an exhibition at his gallery and Jamie is preparing to go off to college.
An old client calls on Eric, Mrs. Kurt, and asks if Eric has any more of the charcoal sketches he has done in the past. This leads to an introduction to a new muse for Eric, one who fascinates and captivates Eric, using his obsession to pull him in.
Eventually, Eric is offered marriage to Miss Ingrid. Both Eric and Jamie are invited to Mrs. Kurt’s French estate for the wedding.
Eric is placed in the subordinate position he desires by his new wife and Jamie’s reluctance that his father marry Miss Ingrid is dealt with.
This book is labeled as a horror story, and that it is. Miss Clearmont weaves a complex plot where a victory for males is transformed into women victorious.
