Bear shifter Knox has never had it easy. Whatever he touches, whatever he loves, ends up dead. Or so he thinks when he moves to Bear Creek to stay with his old army buddy, Jamie. But fate is not ready to give up on this hero bear and when he meets Hannah, his true mate, he starts to believe in happy endings.

Hannah is a social worker, with a problem. A young bear shifter, who lost his dad, is nearly out of control—so the school principal would have everyone believe. When she meets a damaged bear shifter, she soon realizes that in helping each other, these two might just help themselves.

Of course, the fact that Knox just happens to be sex-on-legs, and claims to be her mate, will in no way impede her professionally.

Who is she trying to fool? Everything about Knox calls to the woman in her.

Sometimes you just have to believe in fate.

*** This series continues to be amazing !***
I've read most of the books in the wonderful Bear Creek, and Return to Bear Creek tales. Here we have new resident Hannah, a social worker,

who meets Knox, who is visiting an Army buddy. He has survivor's guilt.
Knox and Hannah are mates,

and end up working together to rescue a teen boy, who is navigating his father's death and his new shifting ability. The bully at school is making his life awful.

This is a lovely tale with romance, action, sexiness, and awesome characters.
ENJOY !
===
Each book in the series can stand alone.
Plus, there is a novella that begins a new series about Cowboy Bears.

Reviewed at Shifter Haven

Sometimes fiction mirrors real life, and while we’re being entertained we’re also reminded of the sacrifices those who defend our country go through. That is my main thought about Hero Bear. While I was certainly entertained, I was also vividly reminded of those brave men and women who fight to insure the freedoms that I take for granted. That it’s not only physical and emotional injuries that are faced but how the survivor’s guilt can tear down the strongest person.

Knox was headed to his friend’s home in Bear Creek. Jamie was ex-military like him, they’d fought together but Jamie had gotten out before the ambush that changed everything for Knox. He really had nowhere else to go to so the offer of shelter, work on a renovation at Jamie’s home was something to do while he figured out the rest of his life. He hadn’t expected to meet her in Bear Creek. For the one woman meant just for him and him for her to be standing right next to the obnoxiously flirting woman in that store… but there she was. And now what did he do. He wasn’t worthy of his mate, he’d bring bad into her life as well. But fate had other ideas.

Hannah was facing changes in her life and she made the choice to stay in Bear Creek for there were people here that really needed her. So with a new house to rent, a new life to figure out she’d gone looking for food and found… him. Sexy as sin, yet somehow wounded. She couldn’t have explained it to her best friend but she knew that this stranger was important to her so she’d see where this took them both.

Hero Bear tackles survivor’s guilt on two different levels and instances. Knox’s from the ambush and Hannah’s young friend (client) Dustin who is facing the birthday of his deceased father with difficulties. Dustin is having trouble with his shifts, he’s being bullied at school and he misses his father to the point of endangering himself. Watching Knox bring Dustin back from the edge, for these two men to help each other heal was a touching experience. Oh, Hannah and Knox were pretty perfect together, don’t ignore that part – but it was Knox and Dustin who stole this story for me. Both survivors, both wondering why and how to move on with that burden on their shoulders. Hero Bear gave me more than an entertaining read, it gave me something to think about beyond the final page.

I’d recommend this story or any in the Return to Bear Creek series to readers of Paranormal Romance or Shifter Romance. You’ll find realistic characters facing everyday challenges and a steamy love story as well.

I read this title through my Kindle Unlimited subscription.

Hannah and Knox

Hannah is the social worker that helped Leona with her two boys Jack and Harry. She also is the person who monitors the visits with their father. Her parents just moved to the Mediterranean because of her mother's arthritis. So Hannah moved into Leona's old house.
Knox has come to Bear Creek to stay with his army buddy Jamie. He meets Hannah when he asks for directions to Jamie and Dani's home. He realizes that she is his mate but is not sure if her should be with her. He feels that he is cursed and does nothing but bring pain and loss to everyone around him.
Hannah as a social worker, has a fifteen year old boy named Dustin that is having troubles at school. He lost his father in a mudslide less than a year ago and has just went through puberty so he is also having trouble shifting into his bear without a guide.
Together Knox and Dustin learn to handle their grief and learn to live again. Hannah is so upbeat most of the time that she is willing to help no matter what.
This is a great book that deals with problems through the love and support of friends and family. I think has been one of my favorite books in this series. I recommend this whole series and all books related. You won't regret reading them.

Like too many military deployed in war zones, Knox has unwarranted feelings of guilt and wholly warranted feelings of deep grief over the deaths of his teammates. He also had some awful childhood memories adding to his issues. While visiting an old friend who is also ex military in the bear shifter town of Bear Creek, he is blindsided when he comes across his fated mate. It takes a lot before he comes to grips with the fact that he has value.
Hannah is not a shifter, but has been a social worker for shifter children in the area and has just moved into the town following the move to Italy by her loving parents in the hope of easing the arthritis which is a nasty problem for her mother. Her sudden attraction to Knox adds to the stress of helping a mother whose husband died suddenly in an accident less than a year ago and the intense problems the teenage son is having at school.
Extremely well handled story entailing two very real problems in the world today. A real feel good tale!

Do yourself a favour, grab this book, make a cup of coffee, sit back and enjoy.
Once again Ms Raines has given us a heart-warming sweet read that just tugs at your emotions.
Hannah is a social worker we have met before with a heart as big as the outdoors, she does not just do her job she believes in her job.
Knox is struggling after leaving the army due to losing most of his team in an ambush. He has also had a crap childhood and feels like he is bad luck.
Add in one trouble teenage shifter who has lost his dad and you get this great story.
Jamie and Dani from book one play their part in this story as Jamie was in the same unit as Knox was.
Two hurt souls in Knox and Dustin end up learning to help and support each other and find that life is worth living.
Loved the little twist when Hannah confronted the principle.
This is my honest review of this book.

Over coming the hardship of losing a loved one is never easy, especially when you don't get to say farewell. Dustin a troubled teen who Sarah looks in on every so often, as a social worker. Sarah has a long road ahead of her as she herself is not a shifter. Then she meets Knox. He was in the army with Jamie and is now home due to something that happened while deployed, will he be able to over come his insecurities or will he crack? What will happen when he meets his mate? Can she put the pieces back together? Oh you need to read it to find out.

Still going strong and this is a 2 for 1?

Knox and Hannah are great together. Knox has dealt with some serious things in the Army. Hannah is a social worker who sees both the good and bad on people. Watching them connect with each other and other characters is fun. This is more relaxed pace, character oriented, upbeat tone even with serious issues.

There is a 2nd story as well, Cowboy Bear Blues Extended Version. I haven't read it yet, but it sounds good too. Read in order, Bear Creek, Bear Bluff, then maybe Return to Bear Bluff and then these in order. Enjoy!

4.5

I really enjoyed this story. Strong characters and good character development just like all her other stories. I was just a little disappointed that it ended at about 46%. But a bonus was Cowboy Bear... which I had already read but did enjoy reading it again along with the extended epilogue!

Hero Bear

Knox returned from serving in the Army and the first few minutes in town he meets his mate. He doesn't feel he deserves a mate. Suzie just moved to town and was getting settled in when she meets what is the local bad boy. Not someone she is normally drawn to.
Great story, some drama and lots of romance.

Knox and Hannah

Hannah is a new character just since a book or two in the background and Knox is new here to stay with fellow soldier Jamie for a few days until he thinks what to do with his life.it was a ok storyline but did not stand out but was upsetting in a well told story about loss.

Another Great Story

This series continues to produce great stories that flesh out the area of Bear Creek. We follow Hannah and Know as they navigate their newly fated relationship while they both deal with some tragic issues as well. Couldn't put the book down and can't wait to move to the next.

Between Knox and one of her clients who needs closure for his fathers death.

As...

As usual, Harmony has real life lessons threaded throughout this wonderful story. Unearned guilt, despair, sorrow, bullying, healing, and helping others are the most prevalent.
This is a great addition to the series!

Tissue Warning!

Kindle Unlimited Purchase

Tissue Warning! Knox is a hero, even if he doesn't think he is. Hannah is the woman to help him figure that out. This book made me cry, the pain Knox felt from losing his friends like he did leeped off the page.
