It was a slow read, but mainly because of poor editing. at times the story bogged down to the point where I almost gave up.

My biggest problem with the copy that I had, there was nothing on the book indicating that this is part of a series. so it was somewhat confusing at times I'm trying to put the facts together.

I can't say that anything special about the story, it reminded me of an Old Roy Rogers movie that I saw years ago.

the story was fairly predictable, but overall it was entertaining.

It started out a little slow, but got really good halfway through. Two sentences in the last chapter summons up the best of the book, and kind of what’s important in life. Lol. “I’ve got all I need, he said, and he knew it to be true. He had the best horse under his saddle, and a fine dog waiting patiently, ready to ride on, ride on.”

This one is great. I will give a short review as not to give anything special away. Dooley Monahan is cast as the star in this one. He goes through a lifetime of adventures in just one book. He gets conked on the head the injury causes amnesia. Over time he regains his memory and painfully realizes who hit him over time. He befriends Buffalo Bill Cody, survives a shootout with Bill playing a big part in that. He runs into old friends, one who he loves, one who he becomes pards with, and another who also plays a large part in this story. He strikes it rich after winning what appears to be a useless mine in a card game. The ending took me by surprise because the ending was not the normal ending we usually get in these stories.

I have read all 3 in this series, and I'd have to say this one did start out little slow ,but did pickup the interest as it went on. I have enjoyed all of the western I have read of William Johnstone over the past 4years he is a very good writer and knows how to keep the attention of the reader. I have also read a lot of Louis Lamore writings but have favored Johnston's writings because a lot of Lamore's writings have a tendency to jump around a lot in the story.

Good story, very enjoyable reading ,keeps you interested.

I would recommend this book to any one who enjoys western stories. Very well written and informative . Would even read it again at a later date .

This is a great Western adventure tale with good again winning over evil. For the most part it is well written by perhaps a better job of editing would help.

Another amazing western novel. I was so happy that Buffalo Bill Cody was a character in this book. Someone in Leadville has it in for Dooley. He goes to Leadville to be a miner, After a series of attacks, the town decides that he should become marshall to try to bring some law and order. Every time he thinks things will quiet down, there is one more attack. I couldn't put the book down, I had to find out if he would eventually lose the battle.
