Lily has a talent for making things grow. So when she finds a mysterious seed in the middle of the woods, she plants it. But the seedling that comes up is not anything Lily expected. It stinks and it oozes sap. Will Lily have to pull up her poor pesky plant?
Yang kaubutuhkan hanyalah rasa percaya dan....sedikit debu peri!!!
Kisah kehidupan para peri teman-teman Tinker Bell dari Never Land. Ternyata peri itu dikelompokan dalam banyak bakat. Lucu banget dech, ada peri bakat-lampu, peri bakat-air, peri bakat-terbang, peri bakat-masak, peri bakat-kurir, peri bakat-panen, peri bakat-melayani dan juga peri bakat-kebun seperti Lily ini. Dannnn masih banyak lagi peri bakat lainnya.
After reading other fairy books, this one is a delight. There is such originality in the way these Disney fairy books are written. Sure, you still have some typical characters like other fairy books, but many of the characters in these aren't so typical. They have more depth. Like the "mean" fairy Vidia, who really isn't that mean all the time. And Disney fairies aren't that clumsy. They do get into trouble, but that is the fun of these books. For example, in this one Lily, a garden fairy, finds a seed that she does not recognize. The plant grows to look ugly, smell ugly, and everything about it seems bad. But Lily still cares for the plant and knows that it is happy. This story is an example of how you can find true beauty in everything.
the title of this book is "lily's pesky plant" by kristen larson. this book was very weird because it all started with a seed that lily found in the forest. she had decided to plant the seed in her backyard. then she noticed that after days and weeks her backyard started to white pink things everywhere. the other fairy's were starting to get runny noise, watery eyes and started sneezing.I give this book four stars because I think it was a good book.
Que linda historia sobre Lily y su jardín, hasta se me antojo probar la fruta del “Ever tree” haha y como le pusieron de nombre a la fruta “more-igolds”.
This book was so warm, I don't know how else to put it. I loved meeting Lily and her beautiful garden, as well as Iris and her writing, and their blossoming friendship. The moral lesson of the book was on point if you can comprehend it, and it was a cute read.
Lily has to go through the experience of the others not accepting a new plant in her garden, in the end, the plant grows into something beautiful that everyone enjoys.
I love this cover! It's one of my favorites in the whole series! I love the green. I love the flowers, the magic, all of it! I know I say this about these books all the time, but I just adore the illustrations, and the ones in this book are top notch! Plus it's a really fun story, too!
This story follows Lily, a garden-talent fairy (as if you didn't guess by the cover XD), as she plants and loves on an unknown seed that causes some...interesting problems for Pixie Hollow. I loved how Lily viewed her garden as a way to serve the other fairies and how tender and loving she was about gardening. Her love for gardening was palpable and her personality was really soothing, which made the story an easy, relaxing read.
I also really enjoyed how Lily exhibited patience with a fairy few had patience with. She showed us what it meant to be a good friend, even if she herself got a little annoyed sometimes. And Iris had a little streak of growth we got to witness, too. I would love to see a book from her pov, but sadly, I don't think they ever wrote one.
The themes of friendship and loyalty, of patience and tender care are clear and strong in this delightful little addition to the series. There's also a vivid illustration (pun totally intended) of sowing and reaping, the fruits of our labor, how hardship can transform us and hone beauty and strength, and how things aren't always as they seem. There's even a small thread of life being worth fighting for.
(Reading the Pixie Hollow books for the first time as a 21-year-old) Aaaaah this was such a cute book! I think this is the first time we meet Lily, as she wasn't in the Fairy Dust Trilogy and this is her first book. I was surprised at how quickly I fell in love with her character! She just wants all her plants to be happy, how adorable. When Lily finds a seed that she and her (friend?? nemesis??? let's just go with acquaintance at first) acquaintance Iris can't identify, they plant it in hopes to study it and discover what it is. The only problem I had is that Lily felt overly-loyal to the plant, and refused to get rid of it even when it was causing some really serious problems. Or maybe that's just her love of plants coming into play, idk, it just didn't seem smart on Lily's behalf. There's a really sweet scene with Iris near the end that just melted my heart! (spoiler warning: as much as I hate the term "incomplete" to describe fairies who are pretty much implied to be disabled, I think Iris being incomplete was handled really well. She's a garden-talent fairy without a knack for gardening. Instead, she pursues her talent by writing a book about gardening. In the scene at the end I mentioned, Lily tells Iris that she isn't incomplete, and Iris says something along the lines of "I am, and that's ok." I really liked that! I'm always for pro-disability messages in kid's media) WOW that's a long review for a little 100 page book, but that just goes to show how much I liked this one!
Lily, a garden fairy discovers a queer seed and decides to plant it in her personal garden, which, to the fairies of Pixie Hollow, is deemed to be one of the best in Never Land. Yet when the new plant begins to excreete a stinky smell and covers it's pollen all over Pixie Hollow, the other fairies beg Lily to cut it down, and quickly! A great story of friendship and getting along with others, and sticking to your beliefs.
This isn’t even nearly one of my favourite Pixie Hollow books but I still greatly enjoyed it.
I really liked the characters we were able to learn more about this time. I also found the characters friendship really lovely, starting from tolerating each other and then finding each other in need.
I also liked the way the story unraveled and what the mysterious seed ended up being.
This is such a fun little series to read when you need a pick-me-up! I loved this one! I think it may be my favorite so far. The moral of not judging a book (or plant) by its cover is beautiful and classic (and needed!). These books do a wonderful job of building off the world the Disney films created, and add a new and adventurous layer. Must read for all Tink fans :).
Probably the most remarkable aspect of this novel is not the heroine but the secondary character, Iris, who turns up in a couple of books and who most of the fairies find annoying. A garden fairy without a garden (I’ve yet to learn why she lost her garden or can’t just start a new one), Iris spends her time writing a book and trying to educate others and instead annoying them. This novel includes an explanation that while all fairies are born of a baby’s first laugh, sometimes the laugh goes wrong or something happens, and the fairy is born “incomplete.” It’s left open whether Iris is incomplete, but she certainly doesn’t fit into this world where everyone else seems successful at their calling and well liked (except Vidia, no one likes Vidia, but she’s mean).
I like that there’s some diversity in this world, teaching young readers about community and finding ways to be kind and get along with everyone, even when they’re irritating. But the way Iris’s difference is explained, the term “incomplete,” is offensive. I think society has also made progress since this book was written as far as average people having a better understanding of people on the spectrum which leads to more tolerance. Iris and Lily discuss whether she’s “incomplete,” and she doesn’t know, but she does seem intended to represent someone on the spectrum. She’s also not a character who would ever get her own book, this might be the closest they’ll get, but she should get her own book.
She’s not the only character who struggles with being different and therefore left out. Rani is a water fairy without wings who can’t fly (but is the only fairy who can swim) and she’s the main character of several books. But Rani chose to sacrifice her wings for the greater good; she’s popular and a hero, akin to a wounded war hero.
Anyway, I liked the gardening theme here, even if the plot resolves itself happily in the end.
Forget that this is a book for children, forget that you're already old, forget about the fact that the movies's lore and the books's lore are completely different (good thing, because the movies? Totally lost their notes along the way and ended up messing things up), forget that this is a book that you can read in 30min.
It's an awesome book!
Man, I love disney fairies and I miss them with all my heart. I'm really grateful for the books, they sure flesh out the universe a bit more and kill that childhood nostalgia I'm feeling.
This is a sweet, fast reading, lovely book, perfect for one of those afternoons where you just want to feel warm inside.
A re-read of one of my favorite books as a kid! I love the descriptions of all of the beautiful flowers (so much so that I thought I wanted to be a landscape designer when I grew up after my first read through), along with the focus on friendship, kindness, and compassion towards all living things, including all of Lily’s beloved plants. 🪴
I don’t get tired of saying I love this book. No matter the age if you love fairies you’ll love this books. At first I did t like lily that much, but as the book progressed I started to like her. It is a great book🤩✨🍀☘️🌷🌺🌱🌳🌲
Lilly was so interesting and her go for it attitude was refreshing. This was a good story with the new plant and her determination brought about a wonderful food source for the fairies. This was a fun and charming read so enjoyable and simple.
Wow, I loved this one! It might be the best one so far in the series. It has world building, character development, dynamic characters, and a mystery that develops perfectly. The friendship between Iris and Lily is heartwarming, and it adds so much to the story.
