The heroine: Jess - at a destination wedding for her cousins in the Dominican Republic. Jess was in charge of making sure her other cousin, the maid of honor and troublemaker of the family was kept in line. Her cousin is selfish and whiny and does whatever she wants, so it isn’t an easy task.

The Hero(es): Raffaele Notte - an immortal who is in charge of helping out his cousin who was taken captive by a rogue immortal and tortured. The cousin is suffering from PTSD so they are in the Dominican Republic for some rest and relaxation.

The Story: Immortals are weakened by the sun and need blood to rejuvenate their energy, so Raffaele finds himself and his companions sitting on the beach under an umbrella when he sees a group of people that have what looks like vampire bites on different places on their bodies. They figure there are more than one rogue immortals feeding on the wedding party and other hotel guests.

Immortals hate the term Vampires though they sometimes use it to describe rogue vampires that feed on humans. Most immortals use bottled blood and only feed on a human in dire circumstances or if they are fated mates. The other difference between Immortals the myth of Vampires is that Immortals are alive and have a soul.

Jess is dragged along on a boat trip to feed sharks by her cousin. She is wary of the Captain and crew dressed as pirates, but her cousin wants Captain Vasko and will not be dissuaded. While out on the boat Jess notices it is starting to get late and wonders how they will be able to see sharks and stays below deck to stay away from the handsome Vasko since he makes her nervous. She sees something she shouldn’t and knows she has to get away especially after Vasko starts talking about Jess being his mate and how he likes her “jugs” and wants to give her a good “rogering”.

I absolutely loved Vasko. He was hilarious and quite a character. He is described as extremely handsome, though his hair was greasy and he could bathe more. He is crude and vulgar but always seems to be in a good mood. I also really enjoyed Raff’s two cousins. It is also kind of funny how immortals can read minds and have no compunction about violating the privacy of others by reading their thoughts whenever they want to find something out.

The narration was fine. The book was dual POV and there was only a male narrator. Raff and his cousins were from Italy, but have lived all over so they have accents. Jess said she couldn’t quite place the accent but to me it sounded a bit too much like Count Chocula. However, it didn’t bother me too much and I was able to get in to the story very quickly.

This is the 28th book in the Argeneau series and Sands is still writing strong original plots that keeps the reader captivated by her storytelling.

Jess is trapped into attending a family destination wedding, only to find that she and her (not favorite) cousin have somehow been convinced to take a tourist trap of a pirate ship filled with blood sucking vampires. Jumping overboard, Jess decides to swim for it only to be rescued by an amazingly sexy man Raffaele.

Raffaele never thought he’d fine his life mate near drowned, floating in the ocean. But after hearing her ramblings about vampires he must convince her that he’s the man for her.

I really enjoyed Vampires Like it Hot. It was fun, flirty, action packed and filled with unexpected humor.

Despues de que las anteriores novelas de esta saga resultaran ser tan flojas no esperaba con demasiadas ganas leer esta historia, pero por suerte Vampires Like It Hot no fue tan del monton como algunos de los libros anteriores.

Obviamente estos ultimos libros ya no tienen la magia y fuerza de las primeras partes, ademas desde hace un tiempo pienso que la autora deberia concluir definitivamente esta serie, no solo porque considero que ya es hora sino tambien porque al alargar innecesariamente las cosas solo consigue que las lectoras se cansen y dejen sin terminar la saga.

Vampires Like It Hot es similar a sus predecesoras pero tambien tiene pequeños detalles que me parecieron agradables y no tan predecibles, ademas la trama en si tiene varias escenas comicas que me hicieron reir a carcajadas.

En resumen, este libro esta recomendado especialmente para los seguidos de esta autora, pero ni de lejos esta entre las mejores de Lynsay Sands.

P. D. : Redondeo la puntuacion hasta las tres estrellas debido a que la historia hubiera resultado mas fluida, si la traduccion que encontre no hubiera tenido tantos errores.

I hate to say it, but this is probably my second LEAST favorite in the series. (Considering that there are 28 books, not liking two isn't to shabby a ratio.) I love the Argeneau family (and all their relatives), but this one was just too... meh for me. The main non-Notte/Argeneau character wasn't particularly likable (in my opinion). And I get why Vasco was so annoying, but ugh.

Still, despite how I feel about this one, I know I'll get the next book in the series when it comes out. They're still mostly fun reads. :)

And, Lynsay Sands does it again. I seriously cannot believe that she can write the 28th book in this series and still keep the stories fresh and exciting and this one has a serious twist to it that totally had me scratching my head.

Jess would never have believed vampires existed until she saw it with her own eyes. Now, the Captain of the Pirate Ship is saying she is his Life Mate??? Whatever that is. She just knows that she has to get off of this ship and get the authorities out there to help all the people on the ship. There is only one way to get off the ship and she's brave enough to jump but does she have the stamina to make it to shore. Then, who is going to believe her that vampires exist?

Raffaele Notte, like other Immortals, hopes to find his Life Mate one day but isn't actively looking for her. What a surprise when he pulls the woman from the ocean. He can't read her, he can't control her and damn, his libido is back with a vengeance. She keeps muttering about vampires and is determined to get out of Punta Cana before Vasco, the Pirate Captain can kidnap her and make her a soulless vampire like him. So, how does he tell her that she's his Life Mate too and he's an Immortal just like Vasco?

And … there's the twist. Jess is a Life Mate to two Immortals. She's now tasked with deciding which one she wants to spend her life with. Well, that's after she finally understands just what they are, where they came from and what it means to be a Life Mate.

I laughed out loud in more than one place in this story. Vasco's vocabulary was hysterical. Jess's reaction to him and her reaction to everything happening was just as funny. Raffaelle was sweet and caring, Santo was his quiet self and Zanipolo was just out for a good time. But, Lynsay Sands has that knack of bringing them all together and writing a story that is enjoyable and fun to read.

It's pretty rare that I stick with a series for 28 books but I continue to love this one. This book has some pluses and minuses. The heroine was pretty plucky and was interested in saving herself and not in being saved. I was happy that Margaret was not a match maker. I like these stories better when the H/h meet on their own. I wasn't so happy with the bit of love triangle that was going on here. But maybe the second guy will get his own book. It wasn't a true love triangle because really the losing guy was never really in the running. I did like him and his fiends though. The hero here was a bit of a nonentity. But altogether I liked it.

The Argeneau series was one of the first series that introduced me to urban fantasy/vampire romance and on top of everything it was hilarious in places, sadly the series has never returned to that level of entertainment but it is still entertaining since I hardly sat the book down in spite of the weakness of the heroine and the eye rolling Captain.

This whole seems to revolve around a plot for vampires to feed off of humans, there is a reason for this and sadly it seems unless I missed it this part of the plot was never actually resolved. There are several red herrings and a twist or two but it took some serious stupidity to move this plot along.

In the end I have to say I think it was my love of what this series used to be more than my actual enjoyment of this story so lets call it 3 stars (first 3 Star review in the 28 books I have read/reviewed) and wanting to make it 4 for old times sake but sadly any discerning reader is going to spot all the weakness in this story and hurt themselves with all the eye rolling.

I still am addicted to the series so yes I will be getting the next one.

Reading any book in Argeneau series is like dining at a chain restaurant. It is not going to be a gourmet meal but you did not go in looking for one. If you did, that is strictly your problem and you should seriously work on your education/perception of the world.
There is comfort and ease to the favorite fast food meal. Most likely it's not particularly nutritious but it's what you needed that moment and it fills your belly for time being and you and your rapidly clogging arteries can cheerfully carry on with your day.
Those books are funny, fast and very formulaic and that is fine. It's what I needed.

This was fine. I'd read the very first Argeneau books by Ms. Sands when they came out eons ago, and now we're up to #28 in the series. So let's face it when I picked this up at the library, it was with the understanding that I knew what I was going to get. It's a longstanding low-angsty vampire soap opera, with all the books interconnected but not completely dependent on the reader to have kept up with the series. If you know the basic construct for this vampire mythology, you're all good to go.

I liked the Argeneaus once upon a time, and most of the basics are covered here. Although I don't recall the possibility of a vampire having more than one life mate at a time.



I'll admit, it threw me a bit and the fact that it was still a bit up in the air, even towards the midway point as to who the heroine was going to end up with because her sexual attraction is strong to both vampires. It was a twist, just not what I was expecting. Perhaps that why the romance at the heart of this felt a bit weak. It wraps up the way you'd think it would, but I wasn't feeling a strong connection between the MCs and was just meh about it.

Then I realized what drives me a little batty about this series - to make it work as a standalone, there's ALOT of info that needs to be imparted to the reader in big chunks. Additionally, the reason it reminds me so much of a soap opera is that there's a repetitiveness to the storytelling - to make sure the audience keeps up, you get to hear their inner monologue, then it gets repeated in actual dialogue, and then rehashed through their thoughts. Over and over again.

In the end, it was fine. I liked enough of the story that I enjoyed it, even if it's not my favorite of the series. I think I'm topped up at this point, until the next time I check in with the Argeneaus. If you've read plenty of Argeneau books in the past, this will be exactly what you expect. No more, no less.

Ok, I normally do not grab vampire books and I definitely would not step into a book series at number twenty-eight.... But the blurb grabbed me and I clicked to get it. I was very happy and surprised by how much I enjoyed this book!

Jess is trapped in a family destination wedding with her dreaded cousin. After taking a seaquarium trip, her cousin was talked into taking an additional trip to witness shark feeding. The captain has a certain swagger Jess is attracted to, so she agrees to go.

Quickly she realizes the pirate ship she is stuck on, is a ship full of blood thirsty vampires! The only feeding going to take place is on the helpless tourists! Jess decides to risk fate, jump ship, and swim for help. Close to shore, nearing exhaustion, she is rescued by a hunky and super hot man, Raffaele.

Raffaele is an immortal and when he rescues a gorgeous human from shark infested waters, he realizes she could be his life mate! When he finds she's running from other immortals, he tries to help. If she knew what he was, he is certain, she would surely freak out. He is left to show her what it would be like to be with him A very strenuous, and complex scenario to navigate.

I really enjoyed this story! It was entertaining, filled with humor, and gave us a bit of suspenseful drama! I loved the characters! Jess and Raffaele clicked quickly! I liked Jess' use of nicknames for some of characters! Having come into this series so far in, I didn't know what to expect. The story stood on it's own, however, and I never felt like I was in the dark. Overall a good, solid vampire read!

Vampires Like It Hot is book number twenty eight!! I still can’t believe how large this series has become and man this book is one of the best of the SERIES. I was really impressed with how well this book was written here. I don’t know exactly what it was that really made such a big impression on me, if it was listening to this book or if this book was a bit different from anything this author has done in this series previously.

This story sets off with our hero, Rafaele Notte has come with his cousins to an exotic island and resort to relax and help a friend recover from a trauma of being a hunter. But then they start seeing signs of a rogue immortals around and multiple of them. Our heroine enters the scene, Jessica has come to the resort for her cousin’s wedding. Even though her parents are passed, family has become everything to her since she spent years in foster care and her adopted family are the best thing that ever happened to her. She is asked to babysit her other female cousin who is a bit unhinged and crazy at times, But what follows is that she finds herself dragged onto a pirate cruise ship with the assumption of feeding the sharks, but she knows something is fishy as the sun goes down. But then she discovers she is on the boat of vampires, and that the leaders thinks that she is his lifemate. But she manages to escape into the ocean and is rescued from shark infested waters by Rafaelle. Rafaelle and his friends look out for Jess and there are sparks that build between Rafaelle and Jess but Jess doesn’t realize that Rafaelle is also an immortal, and the truth could either break their relationship and bring them closer than ever before?

So this BOOK has it all!!! Its rare to see pirates in a contemporary type setting, and even though there are immortals (vampires) in this story its still rare to see this. At first I was VERYconfused to be honest with the hints that Jessica had two possible lifemates and meeting them around the same time? As far as I can remember (and I could be wrong) but I haven’t seen this in this series and I really enjoyed seeing this author handle this scenario and seeing Jessica realize who the right man is for her. Now its pretty obvious that Rafaelle is her choice because even though there is a lot of passion with the pirate captain but Rafaelle is her perfect match. I really enjoyed seeing Jessica discover what she needs the most between the two men.

It does not happen often, but sometimes a situation occurs where one person could be a life mate to two different immortals. It is always a difficult situation, and painful for the one not chosen. But a choice must be made

I was very curious to see how Sands would take this story and it actually developed really well. I adored both of these characters. Rafaelle has lived over two thousand years, has plenty of experience on his belt and close to his family. He understands close family ties and an experienced hunter. But more than that, Rafaelle, is understanding, kind and sensual and has the perfect blend of alpha and beta in him. I love how caring and protective he is of Jessica, but also lets her be herself and not being too controlling. Jessica, is such a strong lady. I really admired her character. She has risen above quite a bit. She grew up in foster care where she was abused in every way you can imagine, but then she found her own strength to overcome the past that torments her so that she is stronger than ever and I love her positive outlook on life.

Overall I found The Vampire Likes It Hot to be a stunning addition to the Argeneau series, a story of adventure, funny pirates, and a romance packed with sensuality and laughs! WELL DONE!

Before I talk about the book, I just want to say that I love this series. I can't say objectively that these are literary classics in the academic sense, but I will say that it is one of the top series I read just because I've grown so attached to this world and the characters who inhabit it, and this despite the fact that I'm not primarily a romance fan. I used a post my reviews of every Argeneau book on Lynsay Sands website before that forum exploded into a smoking digital crater (technology can be a pain sometimes). Now that I'm on this site, I'll post my reviews here, along with every other book I've read since I joined up.

In any case, I think this is a good one. This won't go down as one of my favorites (if it was it would be an automatic five stars) but it's a fun romp through paradise. This is not, by the way, our first visit to a tropical vacation getaway in this series and it may not be our last but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

Jess and Raffaele finding each other made me happy though I'm definitely sad for Vasco. I'm pretty sure we've been introduced to some new characters we'll meet again in upcoming books so they can find their life mates too.

I must admit, though I try my best to make my reviews as unbiased as I can, I am biased when it comes to this series. The Argeneau universe will always inhabit a warm place in my heart and I'll always have good things to say about it. It's like returning to a favorite vacation spot. Also, I really miss that little forum. Goodreads is fine for what it is, but it's huge. You could get lost in here.

Oh well. If I really believed Lynsay would ever see this I would say, "Another good one. If you keep writing them, I'll keep buying them.

VAMPIRES LIKE IT HOT by Lynsay Sands. This one was a fun one for me, even though there is danger throughout. I liked the twists and turns and I was never sure how this would turn out. While paranormal is not always my favorite genre, Ms. Sands' writing keeps me intrigued and turning the pages. She has a way of making the reader believe it is real. I look forward to enjoying more from Ms. Sands. (received ARC from Edelweiss for honest review)

2 1/2 and I cannot bump it up. I've had too many of these. The ending was good but that was about it. I said I wouldn't read another of these after the last book. The only reason I did now is because my library has it easily available. These actually make me a little frustrated. The last made me mad, actually mad. This one is just frustrating and not humorous. Read my notes from below.

Wow, so I cannot believe I'm reading this and... I'm already annoyed. Do we really have the heroine physically incapable of denying what her mind tells her to say no to. Her body controls her actions? I get the lifemate thing but never was it a necessity for the other to say yes. They could say no because of other commitments. So here she is unable to hold herself back from the shared pleasure and... it is a greasy haired pirate want to be that she isn't even attract to in anything but looks, and not all his looks. We get that this isn't going to be the lifemate for her so are thinking NOOOOOO.... and she is too, yet she has no control. Well hell with that, it takes all the chemistry of choice away. I'm only 13% in so not much of a spoiler but the heroine is with some one other than the hero of the story. This is not a good start and I hope that it turns really soon.

And where is the humor! This is no fun watching our human heroine get seduced by another vampire.

Over 50% and I quit at least for a while. This is just so stupid it is frustrating and there is no humor. What ha ha she got the wrong drink order, ha ha she had a hot thing to eat and downed it. She is a freaking bar tender? in what universe did she not think she might get a long island ice tea and in what universe does she not get that an island ice tea is the same. Then here is the other thing, ordering ice tea the way she did? Hell, you say plain ice tea and the type, flavored or not. And if they say island, you say no, no alcohol.

Then there is the seeing the people during the dancing. Then there is the not looking into her experience on the ship and finding out that the other guy thinks she is a lifemate. Really they get all the rest of the information but not that?! Makes a big difference. And then what the hell is Rafael waiting for? For the other guy to come and get her? For her to make other wrong assumptions. Greasy hair is not funny.


And 75% TSTL- Really really stupid. They don't tell her crap and even so she compares them to Vasco's party boat. She decides to put herself at risk. Knowing that she can be controlled and that she is being hunted. They are drinking bags and she doesn't think about that at all. She is an idiot. Going alone always when they have save her. Ok, are they manipulating her? Well, she figures it out the first time but doesn't compare that to what the guys have done. That the guys don't tell her what trouble she is in, it is just stupid plot plays. Then we have stupid idiotic hunters that cannot even guard one woman. Three men cannot even watch one woman! They are supposed to be hunter trained! Then they let her leave by being the worse guards, so now she doesn't know what situation she is in. And she gets it explained by the others. The ones she saw drink directly from people compared to drinking from blood bags. It is just not good anymore.

Vampires Like It Hot by Lynsay Sands is book 28 in the Argeneau series. This is the story of Raffaele Notte and Jessica 'Jess' Stewart. This can easily be a standalone book for sure.
Jess is on the Island for a family's designated wedding. There on the island she gets stuck with a unruly spoiled cousin who ends up getting them on a vampire pirate ship. Raffaele is helping family when they find that there are some immortals using the local humans for 'food'. They start to investigate when he happens to find Jess in the water. One of the first words she says is vampire so Raffaele knows she run into some but it also starting to look like Jess is his mate. Can he make her see that all vampires aren't so bad?
I am such a fan of Ms. Sands...she can write no wrong in my book. Her books are always with a great story line, funny and hot.

#28 and I'm still reading this series! Formularic they may be but, damn they are almost always so good!! Interesting characters, funny plots and cool hijink abound.

This one has a twist I didn't care to see at first, but Sands opened it up to even more Immortals I'd love to have find their true lifemates.

We are headed to the South American region soon and I cant wait to see who kicks butt and takes names there.

3.5 stars. Another fun Argeneau Immortal romance, but as I read this one over several evenings, I felt it was easy to pick up and put down, so not my favourite. This one is pretty light-hearted and Jess has to decide whether she wants to be with mild mannered Italian architect Raffael, or Vasco, the dashing rogue pirate that steals her away for the Dominican beach resort she's staying at.

There's some action, silly scenes, steamy romance after a slow burn start and all of these books bring a smile to my face. It can be read as a stand-alone, as the origins of the immortals are explained by various characters, and in various ways, as the book advances. Some side characters have appeared in other stories and I'd advise you to read the series from the beginning, simply because they are so entertaining. I've also listened to some on audio and they are excellent, with the author choosing different narrators for each one. 😅😍

PS - Is it bad I liked the pirate better than the hero???

I love anything vampy, so this was an EXCELLENT gift from Hannah! The vampire science/backstory was GOOFY in this book, but I had fun reading it so can’t complain! Also the dialogue and accents from my audiobook narrator actually made me laugh out loud at points. I won’t be forgetting this one anytime soon LOL. My life’s goal is to learn everything there is to know about vampires at this point.

este libro no ha sido tan malo como los anteriores pero no tan buenos como los primeros.
escritoras hay que aprender cuando cerrar sagas para simplemente no perderse entre sus propios personajes. ya esta desgastado lo de parejas perfectas. que no tiene personalidades compatibles o my creibles. esta por lo menos tiene cierto encanto mediano ( para mi podrian ser amigos nada mas )

I'm not sure why I keep reading this series. I've found the past..probably 5 to be ridiculous beyond belief. But still I read. This one is better. It wasn't quite as ridiculous, though I did question the female MC's decisions quite a few times.

I spent the first 3/4s of this book repeatedly checking if I'd somehow mistakenly picked up a previous book in the series that I'd already read, because everything felt so familiar to me. I kept going "I KNOW I've read this before!" However, I've only read one other book in the Argeneau series, and as this book only released about a month before I read it I'm positive I hadn't actually read this book before and forgotten about it in the span of a month. (Even I'm not that forgetful.)

That being said, despite this entire book up until the last quarter of it basically being bookish déjà vu, I really enjoyed Vampires Like It Hot. While I felt like I'd read it before, it was in a good way, like I'd read it before and loved it. I had just enough background on the Immortals and the whole world set-up from reading one other book in the series so I wasn't lost, but I really like the scientific way that Sands approaches the concept of Immortals (never *gasp* vampires). I like that Jess has her issues that she struggles with, and that Raff isn't perfect either. The sort of love-triangle aspect was written in a way that was really interesting to me, especially as I don't read a lot of paranormal romance (which I'm given to understand has a lot of lifemate, instant-life-bond type tropes). The "vampirates" are quite possibly my favorite part of this entire book, along with all the other hilarious nicknames and terms for things Jess comes up with.

This is the 28th book in the Argeneau series, and while it can be read as a stand alone it does sort of assume that you have some knowledge of the universe in which the book is set. As I said earlier in my review, I've read one other book in this series and that gave me enough of a jumping ground from which to launch myself. I think if this had been the very first book I'd read in this series, I'd have felt a little lost but still been able to muddle though - I'd probably have just identified with Jess a little more!

The Story:

Whew this one is a whirlwind of ‘rogue’ pirates, unstable family, multiple lifemates and misunderstandings. I was very confused about some characters the whole book but in the end everything is explained and I enjoyed the ride.
