I just love her art and reading about Loish‘s process was really eye opening. I‘ve had her three books for a while now but I only recently started reading them in earnest and this book really highlights how important sketching is and that it can be fun and look really pretty at the same time. Especialle her stylized studies and the environment ones caught my eye.

Highly recommend these books if you‘re just looking for inspiration.

This book, alongside with the previous one by Loish, just arrived on my doorstep yesterday and I quickly dived into it. Having missed out on the previous Kickstarter campaign, I am so very glad and elated to know that I can obtain two books by backing the campaign for this one. Yaay!

If the previous book helped me understand Loish's mindset in terms of evolving her art style and creating artworks, this book really helped me understand her process from scratch. It really opens my eyes on why Loish is so amazing and popular—she is just relentless when it comes to illustration and design! She shares a lot on how she works and what she feels is important in improving her work and staying at the top of her game. Really inspiring!

Can I just say, by the way, how much I love her concept for Departure? I feel like it's a storyline that encompasses her style very much: hair, water and somewhat surreal settings. I love that she uses all three elements in their own unique ways! It really shows how she develops an idea and turn it slowly—keyword here, really—into a final product. Keeping all options open, it really shows the kind of out-of-the-box artist she is. Personally, I would vote for Departure to come out as a game.

Personal favourite, by the way, is the tutorials section. It will completely change my game! Her way of looking at how to create a digital illustration is entirely different from my view of it. It will save so much of my time thinking about what's essential and focus my energy more on creating the end product. The speed painting tutorial will most likely get me more willing to try out this style of creating a rough artwork.

In conclusion, top notch! She definitely topped herself with this book!

One of my long-time favorite artists. It was really fun to learn a little more about her art journey and get insight into her process. Her color mastery and conceptual creativity always blows my mind. I've been following her work since the early DeviantArt days. I'm glad she's found such success and am happy to have her book on my shelf.

Amazing art book!
Loish's art is incredible and so is the quality of this book. I was really impressed by the colourful pages and how insightful the commentary is.

As an artist myself, I was able to appreciate Loish's journey, but I think anyone else can also appreciate this beautiful book.

I've admired Loish's art since I was young, when I started navigating through deviantart. Her style inspired me deeply as an artist, and being able to have her book in my hands after so many years feels truly accomplishing. Her tutorials and break-downs of sketching techniques and mindset are easy to read and understand (however, I haven't brought myself to implement them yet, since I just finished reading the book for the first time). I bought the sketchbook first, because sketching is the basis of the creative process and a very distinguishable element in Loish's artworks. Now I can't wait to own and read the rest of her books (◍•ᴗ•◍)❤

Enjoyed her commentary, and especially the sketches where she showed several different versions or progressions. Liked the tutorials. Cool idea to create a conceptual character / project just for the book, which was beautiful.

Absolutely brilliant look into Loish’s process and her thoughts behind her work. The only downside is she makes it look and sound some easy! ;)

Really inspiring book and definitely one which will sit within reach of my desk for future reference.

An amazing book to understand where Loish started, where she came from, her motivations and her process. Not exactly great if you're looking for step-by-step guides, but it has amazing tips.

Loish is personally one of my favorite artists so when I got this book I was so excited. Not only do you get to see her sketches and WIP pieces but you also get her insight on all aspects of her sketching process. I found the information she wrote in the book extremely helpful and really well worded. The drawings are obviously beautiful and I always adore peeking into someone else's sketchbook. It's a must have for anyone who is into art. I highly recommend this book!

The Sketchbook of Loish is worth its weight in gold, and it’s a very heavy book.

I’d argue the Sketchbook of Loish is even better than The Art of Loish: A Look Behind the Scenes. Both are wonderful books, but SoL gives a deep dive into Loish’s creative process and her thinking behind pieces. Both emotional and artistic. There’s something beautifully raw about her unfinished sketches and unpublished work that I can only describe as passion.

That passion and love for art is what has kept me coming back to this book over and over again throughout the last few months.

Gorgeous art and helpful writing. It is my absolute favorite art book out there. The lessons that animation taught her are truly helpful for sketch work too. Great work and hope for more books by Loish.
