Will Negan take over the Saviors. Will the Hilltop be rebuilt. Is that a woman with a pink furry jacket on the cover? Yeah... Princess is here!
The post Whisperer world is full of optimism and societal development, but also full of pain. Most of this volume feels like downtime although we do get significant character development of some key characters. Eugene and a small team set out to meet-up with Stephanie's community! Lots of good Negan moments. Some very interesting Dwight moments too. And the obvious potential love triangle for Carl, might be kicking off. Four Stars - 8 out of 12.

Ah, the reliable roller-coaster of quality that is The Walking Dead! After the spectacular rush of Volume 28 comes the expected long, tedious build-up to the next bit of excitement with table-setting being the order of the day in Volume 29: Lines We Cross.
Seriously: barely anything happens. Characters rebuild their homes, some grouse at others, they sob, they stick a few zombies, and that’s it for a good 75-80% of the book. Here’s the wafer-thin story we do get: Rick sends out a group led by Michonne to track down Eugene’s ham radio bud, the mysterious Stephanie, who is supposedly part of a larger community like Rick and co.’s.
Nothing happens there except they meet a new character, Princess (the girl on the cover), a chatty spear-chucking Latina, conveniently introduced after the loss of a major older character in the last volume to shore up the numbers. I guess she’s kinda different but hasn’t really had a chance to do much of anything yet.
There were a couple of unintentionally funny moments as Jesus and his beau dealt with the remnants of the Whisperers and that weirdo, Beta, pops up from the dead to yell something retarded. And Rick’s now taken to sleeping in the graveyard... ?! That’s just so absurdly emo that it tickled me.
Negan and Maggie’s showdown at the end was interesting and I look forward to seeing how Michonne and co.’s mission plays out but, crikey, Volume 29: Lines We Cross was otherwise SUCH a boring and tedious read!

I feel like a great volume of TWD needs action, character & story development, drama, conflict, suspenseful moments and great artwork. This volume packed in so much of the good stuff, I loved it. Every time I feel like the story might be slowing down or too many characters are dying or that this comic can't surprise me anymore, it proves me wrong. What drives this comic is the characters. Characters who are struggling internally and characters who are struggling in regards to relationships with other characters. For a little while there I felt like the new characters weren't really making any impact on me but this volume focused on a few of the newer characters and it even introduced us to a completely new character, who I already love. I'm excited to see what happens next because there was a little bit of a cliffhanger of sorts.
I'm not sure if the artwork changed slightly but it looks cleaner and clearer, or something. Regardless, I feel like it has never looked better. The covers were also really stunning.
TWD has ups and downs but it's on Vol. 29 now and it shows no signs of slowing down or stopping. I don't think I've rated a volume below 3 stars though and that's pretty impressive. This comic series is amazing and I would just 100% recommend it to everyone.

This has been one of my favorite Walking Dead volumes in a while. A few recent volumes felt like not too much happened. This one was packed with multiple story lines, new characters, big changes for old characters, and cliffhangers galore.
I am excited to see where the story is going to go next. I had been thinking that it was moving toward conclusion, but now there are so many possibilities, I cannot imagine it ending any time soon.
What was interesting about this volume is how it feels like a very strong allegory for our current society. Of course the whole story has been a reflection of society and the extremes it will go to when put under pressure, but this issue took it to the next level with stories of leadership, grieving, trust, forgiveness, race, relationships, sexual orientation, and mental instability. It was delivered and integrated well - it did not feel too preachy or overdone.
If you are still in the early volumes or have had thoughts if checking it out, know that it is still going strong 29 volumes in.

I really enjoyed this episode. Princess is awesome and I really enjoyed the Negan-Maggie scene. As always, the art work is fantastic, the plotlines are complex but interesting, and the character development unsurpassed for zombie lit. This is one of the best episodes in The Walking Dead series. We are clearly coming close to closure, as Carl has become a man and Rick's influence is felt beyond this group.

A slower, transition volume after the action packed last couple of trades. Has some interesting moments but I find Rick the least interesting character in this book. He's going a little nuts like he did after Laurie died. The Pittsburgh issue was interesting although I wasn't sure it was Pittsburgh until the end of the issue when it's finally mentioned. The issue with Negan and Maggie was good as well. But this book suffers through its highs and lows as Kirkman hasn't really figured out how to make the lulls that interesting.

I absolutely loved this volume of TWD. There was action in abundance, heaps of horror, a wealth of woes (poor Rick) and I almost felt sorry for that son of a bitch Negan in the final issue collected here.

The usual transition volume after the action-packed previous volumes of the Whisperers War story-arc just come as scheduled, as slow as expected, with lots of characters development and new ones conveniently appearing to fill holes left by dead ones.
TWD tv series jumped the shark and went downfall so low that I've skipped watching last season, luckly the original comic book series is still good, solid, alive and healthy after 15 years and 29 volumes.

This volume picks up after the events of the previous issue and so many of the characters are trying to get back on track to being normal again.
Issue 29 is the transition comic and its where not much happens and it's where the characters are just trying to rebuild after some really heavy events that have recently taken place.
Plot: this one picks up after the events of issue 28 where everyone came together to take down the massive herd that was headed towards Alexandria. The residents of each community had heavy losses and there was a huge character death.
Rick is dealing with this death in an interesting way, he is visiting Andrea's grave and talking to her showing that he is not coping well with her death. Dwight also confronts Rick and tells him he shouldn't be the leader anymore however in true Rick fashion he stands up to Dwight and shuts any take over down.
Maggie is trying to rebuild the Hilltop after the whisperers destroyed the community and burnt it completely down to the ground. Maggie and the rest of hilltop start leaving Alexandria and also Negan also leaves Alexandria after being kicked out of the community, Maggie decides to keep an eye on Negan to see what he's up to. Maggie confronts Negan with the intent on killing however after Negan begging her to do it she has a change of heart and decides not to kill him and it's a huge change for her character who's been dead set on killing him.
Carl is also growing up and decides he no longer wants to live at Alexandria and wants to return to the hilltop for good.
Michonne, Magna, Yumiko, Siddiq and Eugene all leave to go to Ohio because of the girl Eugene has been talking to is living with her group. They soon meet a women Juanita 'Princess' Sanchez who lives in Pittsburgh alone and the group soon lets her join them on the way to Ohio, I like this character because she's different and has been by herself for such a long time and i cant wait to see how this character effects the plot.
Negan makes another bat but after what happened with Maggie something changes him and we last see him putting on his jacket and burning the new bat he just made.

I've been some months without reading TWD comics. I must say I had thought I haven't missed much. However, the world of our characters did get a lot bigger.
In this volume, we have an interesting new character who called herself The Princess. Finally someone who still got some sense of humor. I know it is the apocalypse and stuff, but come on, guys, we could use some more laughing in these dark days.
Furthermore, Robert Kirkman presents us with some deep psychological closures of some untied knots of the story. People moving on, people choosing not to move on, some still holding on vengeance, others finding hope when there was not a single drop of it left.
Life sometimes surprises us in a good way, just like this last volume. Great work, Kirkman!

Zašto i dalje čitam TWD? Možda zato što sam pročitao sve brojeve do sada (ima ih 174!), od kojih su neki ostavili snažan utisak, pre svega zbog svojih opisa čovekove prirode. Na šta smo sve spremni kada nas zombi (ili češće neki drugi čovek) satera u ćošak? Pojedini odgovori su bili itekako brutalni, ali ovom stripu se već odavno istupila oštrica, baš kao i seriji. Mislim, uspeli su i Negana, motherfucking Negana da obesmisle. Preko toga ne mogu da pređem.

My history with this title (and my feelings about it) are complex.
While I do think it's been consistently better than the failing TV show, it's not nearly as good as something like Kirkman's own "Invincible" which is superior in every way (Go check it out- I'll wait.)
This title goes thru Ups and Downs for me: like the show, my biggest beef is that both title and show lack a defined focus and overall move towards an endpoint.
And both title and show focus far too much on Negan, and that is what continues to plague the franchise, a la "Heroes" continued reliance on Sylar.. (Though the title is handling that aspect of the story FAR better than the show.)
This is another volume that is just OK. (Last volume was saved by the big reveal, while this one does not have that grace. While there's a few decent character moments, and Princess was a decent intro, this was mostly a MEH volune for me.)

Seeing Negan prevent another war instead of starting one (like he always does) is something I was not prepared to see. I'm taken aback. I admit that not only in the television series but also in the comic series he managed to develop for the better. Though that doesn't mean for me that I will forgive and forget. Especially not forget. Not with him. Never.
Adoption doesn't necessarily mean that one can't be loved as much as if one was raised by their biological parents. Adoption means giving not only the child but the parents another chance. A chance to give unconditionally. That's called unconditional love. One of the most beautiful forms of love.
The ending was extremely underwhelming. If it wouldn't almost be the end, I might would have dropped this. Negan develops, I know that now. Though there was no need to add it at the end of the volume. Should have been in the middle or so.

This is the fallout of the last volume and is a good story and it starts off with everyone trying to find a way to get to their lives. Carl rebuilds Hill Top meanwhile Jesus and Aaron journey on their own and while Michonne and the others go to meet Stephanie and also the personal struggles and challenges FACING Rick and the final story of Negan and what happens to him.
I like how this volume deals with the fallout and follows this characters on their journey and how insane it sounds but gives them new challenges and the mystery just keeps expanding and also amazing moments for self growth and realizations and maybe turn around as in the case of Negan and Kirkman brings it out wonderfully, redeeming him no wonder and bringing human emotions to the fore front and as a reader you sympathize with him and also it shows Rick as a fallible but also as a capable guy and thats brilliant writing.
The art has become so much better and it shows. Wonderful volume again.

This continues our story of our survivors as they try to survive the end of the world. In this one, a small group set out to meet the people that Eugene have been talking to over the radio. They are going into uncharted territory and who knows what surprises will happen to them.
This collection is more about the characters than it is about the action. We are introduced into new characters, characters that we thought were gone are back, and we see how characters have grown in this new world. I liked this look into all of these characters as they are not just surviving the apocalypse but also trying to live a life. I thought the new character, Princess, was a hoot and I cannot wait to see her on the television show. The last issue was the highlight as we follow Negan and his new life. This issue hinted at several different ways the character could go and I was surprised at the way he actually did. I have said this before and I will say it again. I am amazed at the turnaround of this character and he has become a favorite and I look forward to seeing his scenes.
Twenty nine collections in and I still enjoy this series. That is really impressive and I doubt we will ever see something like this run ever again. The revolving door of characters keep a new perspective into this series even while we mourn and celebrate with our favorites. This is just one more collection in this series that is a delight to read.

One of the quieter, downtime arcs of The Walking Dead, which makes sense after the Whisperer 'War' and the last volume.
Honestly, I'd really be fine if they killed Rick off at this point. He's the least interesting of a vast cast of characters, and I think it'd be a good way to shake things up. I'd also like less Negan, but I'm probably in the minority there. That said, the last issue of this volume is entirely devoted to him and it's actually pretty punchy.
New addition Princess is a breath of fresh air, though I fully expect her to betray everyone at some point because that's just how these things go.
We also get the end of the Whisperers plotline (finally) with some epic ass-kicking from Aaron and Jesus, as well as the next step in Eugene's little radio saga.

MEH! Good gravy, I realize I barely remember the action packed last volume, but this was such a snoozefest - I guess we need some time to recoup and set up for the next Dwama, but this was a clunker. (The hamfisted monologue Princess has about the diversity of the Radio Group was cringey - yes, Kirkman, we see you have included MANY POCs - men, women, bi, straight, gay, etc. - in your comics, we get it! Here's a gold sticker!) With so many characters dead and the new ones barely established, it's hard to really remember anyone. Who is Yumiko? Have I seen her before? Magna was someone that just joined - right? Who is Mikey again?!?
Oh, well, I hear this series is wrapping up so I don't have much further to go before it's all over. Damn...just saying that makes me incredibly sad. I have such fond memories of the beginning, Rick Grimes waking up alone in that small town, heading to Georgia to desperately find his wife, Lori.

Nothing really happens in this volume. We do get introduced to a new fun character, Princess. Can't wait to see what she does in the story. A few interesting things happen. Everyone heads out to find out who Eugene has been talking to on the radio this entire time. But of course that actually isn't revealed until the next volume. There was one funny part where Jesus runs into a Whisper and they scream out something funny. Even though in the TV show I'm sick of watching Negan't story line, I absolutely still love him in the comics. His story is interesting and I can't wait to see what he does next.

It's ok.
Good stuff happen towards the end.
Boring stuff here and there.
Rick is being NOT Rick still.
New character (cover) (as you cans see I don't even remember her stupid name) is fucked up beyond all repair. It's like Kirkman is bored with the series and don't know what to do, so he's going to drop a bunch of trend-related lines, talk about gay couples and whatnot, racial stuff too, and since all of that shit are what the internet is so obsessed lately, yeah... let's make a quick buck.
Fuck. That. Shit.
That new girl character sucks so bad... it's like cheap-ass Deadpool knock-off.

I still have a glimpse of hope that Rick is going to be back and be himself instead of that old man Rick boring-ass motherfucker as fuck, doing absolutely nothing, having no impact to the story whatsoever, what he does or doesn't do it's all the same to the continuation of the fucking comic series. New character (cover) (as you cans see I don't even remember her stupid name) is fucked up beyond all repair. It's like Kirkman is bored with the series and don't know what to do, so he's going to drop a bunch of trend-related lines, talk about gay couples and whatnot, racial stuff too, and since all of that shit are what the internet is so obsessed lately, yeah... let's make a quick buck.

That new girl character sucks so bad... it's like cheap-ass Deadpool knock-off.

I found that I liked two major things from this volume. It was enough for me to rate this 5 stars.
The first thing I loved is the introduction of a new character, Princess. So I read this volume as individual issues so I had to wait each month for the story to progress. The arrival of Princess was so well done and she is so friggin hysterical while taking into consideration why she is the way she is.
My second point is the more important one for me. While most of the volume remains dedicated to the overall story, the final issue acted as an interlude of sorts. The overall arc leaves us at a cliffhanger ending. The final issue of the volume tells us a solo story on Negan. Prior to reading it, it would make sense for the average reader to have already completed the Negan solo story which was sold in the previews magazine or separate hardcover book. By the end of the volume, I felt Negan's story was funny, heartbreaking, and overall very moving in a way that you wouldn't really expect. The issue by itself would make me give the book an automatic 5 stars because it is important and very moving. I am really looking forward to seeing where some of these book characters will go.

Moody Rick still drags down the entire book. The new character seems to be written like a sitcom neighbor - nothing beyond 'quirky'. Carl would be viewed just as badly as his father if it wasn't that he is better than his TV representation at least. Negan is once again the only figure that redeems the work and makes it barely readable.

This is one of the "rebuilding" volumes that come between the more action oriented volumes. That being said it came across as a little slow with a lot of talking heads and not much else. But still, it's character development and this series is based on character development. Also, it's the volumes like this that give the other volumes so much weight, since you feel like the characters are real people. I still don't like this whole "redemption of Negan" thing since I believe there does come a point where people go too far to be allowed the luxury of redemption. Some people feel differently but after what Negan did it just feels wrong for him to be walking around doing whatever he wants.
Sadly, at least to me, the Walking Dead TV series has hit a low point so it's nice to get back to the comics which are much better at this point in time. I hope the series rebounds soon, and hopefully the next volume of the comic will pick up some too. This wasn't bad at all, but I miss the horror of the original volumes.

An uneven and pretty slow arc, the 29th volume of The Walking Dead comic suffers slightly from a few snoretastic issues. Thankfully, a brand-new character named the Princess arrives to shake things up. To make matters better, the entire collection ends with a huge emotional bang 74 issues and five years in the making. Promise.

This one was actually really fun and entertaining. I love the new character introduced. The character interactions and development is interesting as well.
