Bachelor Tower #1

Insatiable Bachelor

Rate this book
A brand new series set in a whole new world.

Dalton: Women are a perk of my lifestyle. I work hard. I deserve to play harder. But I didn’t get on the Forbes List of Rising Entrepreneurs by getting lost in the baggage and disruption that comes with dating. I’ve seen dozens of men fail when they fall in love. Pathetic.

That's why I chose the Bachelor Tower. It was designed by a genius, my hero: the late, Garry F. Sinclair. He created an all-male haven for ambitious men who want to live like kings and play by their own rules. Casino nights, a fully equipped gym and lap pool, cigar and Scotch bar, and a media room with screens the size of the average movie theater. The list is endless. I easily network with men trying to launch their careers or those at the top who want to stay hungry. The best part: the tower attracts women, beautiful women who hang out in the lobby bar and vie for an invite upstairs. Easy, like fishing in a barrel.

Until Sinclair dies and Penny Fuller moves into the apartment next to me because the new owner doesn't share his vision.

Everyone agrees Penny can't stay. I don't want to get involved, but she doesn't understand the lengths my fellow building mates will go to to get her out. She's not only irresistibly sexy and painfully optimistic, she's also in real danger.

Siding with her would be career suicide.

Betraying her was never my intention.

The hero is one of the biggest a-hole and b@st@rd I have ever seen.
He is forever horny. He hates the heroine staying in the fcking bachelor building he stays in but he is also lusting her. He is downright rude to the heroine in the first meeting. And also when she mentions she used to stay with two other girls in a studio apartment he is all horny because he is suddenly thinking about what girls do together when they stay in such tight quarters. Ugh...
Sorry this hero should just fck off and mind his own business.
Yuck.

I was a little hesitant to read this one, from the description i thought "oh here we go, another manwhore to hate" but i'm so glad i took the risk, it was so worth it.
It was nothing like i expected.
Yes, the hero was a manwhore but it all changes when he meets the h, there is no OW drama, he does talk about how he used to have each night a different woman in his bed but that all stop once he meets the h, and this alone kept me going.
The story was really interesting, with more interesting characters.
I did like Penny but it was her sister that i loved, i can't wait to read her story with Ben.
This book left me giddy for more, giddy giddy!!!

Insatiable Bachelor is a read you really need to suspend reality for. The premise is a bit shocking- an entire apartment building today that is exclusively for men? How the heck does that work?! You get that explanation and more.

Dalton is shocked to see a woman on her way up to apartment of her own- and not one of his neighbors bedrooms. Penny really shines from the first moment she is on the page. I loved her strength and wit. She can really hold her own with the overpowering Dalton. She refuses to settle.

I really enjoyed Insatiable Bachelor, and I can’t wait to read the next installment. Kylie, Ben or the mysterious Christen are intriguing me the most! While the end felt rushed and wrapped up a bit too quickly, I felt overall it was well paced and a fairly addictive read.

Insatiable Bachelor (Bachelor Tower Series, Book 1) by Ruth Cardello

Life is not a restaurant, not everything goes your way. The residents of Bachelor Tower are about to get schooled in the ways of the world. Beginning with the hunky Dalton. Insatiable Bachelor turns sexism on it's head while two-stepping between edgy and flirtatious. Penny finds more than she bargained for when a family favor lands her in a ton of hot water. What begins as a favor becomes a tempting battle of wills between an annoying neighbor and a building full of testosterone. Dalton is the jerk you love to hate, but can't keep off your mind. Kudos to Ms. Cardello for her ability to create heroines that are not afraid to speak their mind, even if it costs them their heart. There is no walking away from Penny and Dalton. I was hooked from the first page.

A couple of years ago, when I first started to dip into romance, I picked up Ruth Cardello’s Maid for the Billionaire. It was an enjoyable enough read, one that left me willing to try more of the author’s work in the future. Although I have both Come Away with Me and Always Mine sitting on my Kindle, I have not worked around to reading them. I found other romance authors I was more interested in reading. I think, mostly, it was just a case of easing myself into the genre – had I picked up Maid for the Billionaire once I was deeper into the romance genre I’m sure I would have felt differently.

Thus, when the chance to read Insatiable Bachelor came about, I was more than willing to give it a try. Being the first book in the Bachelor Tower series, I was more than willing to see what Ruth Cardello’s new series was offering.

It turns out, Insatiable Bachelor has me wanting more. There is no doubt I will be picking up the second book in the Bachelor Tower series, as I’m desperate to see where everything goes from here. I’ll be honest and admit this isn’t quite a full four-star rating, but I was so addicted and intrigued I had to round up.

The notion of this one requires you to suspend your belief somewhat. An apartment building exclusively for men and a woman with a plan to give the entire system the middle finger sounds like a lot of fun, if somewhat unbelievable. Yet that is what this story boils down to. Sure, there is much more to it than that, but at the basics this is why you need to suspend your belief. Once you do such a thing, you’re quickly sucked into the story.

I’ll be completely honest, it’s not the most original of stories. Neighbours who don’t really get along; playboy who changes his way; love conquers all. By this point, romance fans know what to expect. However, when the story grips you, you’ll keep reading – and such was the case with this one. I found myself sucked into the characters, found myself sucked into the bigger picture, and I found I was working my way through this book at a rapid pace.

It’s a story that sucks you in, one that leaves you wanting more – with my biggest disappointment being that it wasn’t longer. I wanted to stay with these characters, I wanted more of their world – and such is why I’m planning to grab book two.

There’s no doubt this is looking to be an interesting series.

I love Ruth Cardello but this book just wasn't for me. The quick love between two polar opposites was a little over the top. The whole concept of a bachelor's building with bunch of rich asshole men who degrade women repeatedly just didn't sit well with me. I am not continuing with this series but Cardello will always be my go to author.

Looking for a fun, flirty romance with a male lead who's life takes a full 180 when he meets his match? Look no further than Insatiable Bachelor.

Dalton is perfectly happy in his stable, perfect world. He's a resident of the Bachelor Tower where women are welcome to come warm his bed but not stay the night. He has concierge services at his finger tips, anything and everything he wants and needs is just a call away. Life is fabulous. Predictable. Until Penny moves in next door.

Penny is holding down the fort until her high powered CEO of a Fortune 500 company can move in. Penny's sweet, smart, and sexy. And everything Dalton never knew he wanted.

A woman. In Bachelor Towers. Inconceivable. Apparently not. Ownership of Bachelor Towers has changed and the vision for the building is now in flux. But the residents aren't taking these changes sitting down. They're going to fight and fight dirty. Who will be left standing when it all shakes out?

I kinda adored Dalton's curmudgeonly ways. How stuck in a rut he was and didn't realize all that he was missing out on in life. He was smart, sexy and noble in his quest to help, but not help Penny--in and out of his bed. And Penny, I loved her. She was no pushover and I loved her positive outlook on life and love. But I really enjoyed Dalton and Penny together--they clicked so perfectly that I couldn't help but root for them to beat the bullies! Can't wait for more in this series! ~ Missy, 4 stars

Insatiable Bachelor was a good book even if it made say a tiny wtf with everything that went down in the end. Things were a little bit overdramatic and that wasn't needed if you ask me. I wanted something else to used as an excuse to get Dalton and Penny back together. What I liked about the part close to the end was the way the characters worked together to make sure that the apartment would continue to belong to Penny's sister. I really hope to see Penny's sister and Ben as the main characters in the next novel.

The story was easy to read and the pages flew. The pace was good and the characters likable. I liked Dalton and Penny's relationship and I hope to see more of them in the next book. The secondary characters were also good (I mean those who didn't want to get Penny evicted). I liked Penny's father and I liked his way of living even if it is a little too free-spirited for me. I wanted to see more of Dalton's father and how he was handling everything with their reunion. Overall, the book was good and I would recommend it.

What an amazing book. Ruth has done it again with Insatiable bachelor. Dalton is everything you love to hate. He is arrogant, cocky, and loves his life just they way it is. What happens when Penny moves in and disrupts his life. Penny is my hero for putting up with everything. Dalton was hard to love at first. Sparks fly and sides are chosen. Who will be left standing.

Though this is a part of her Bachelor Tower Series from the start, Ruth Cardello held my interest in her latest stand alone story Insatiable Bachelor. It is filled with love, laughter and memorable characters. I laughed out loud and fell in love with not only Dalton and Penny, but the amazing secondary characters as well.

Dalton has worked hard to build the life he has. He works hard and plays even harder. He is they type of guy who keeps others at bay, as he reaches his success. He owes no one and views his accomplishments as fulfillment and a success. That is, until the free-spirit Penny moves in next door.

Penny has been sent to Bachelor Tower to get things in order for her sister. Kylie is everything this tower is made up of, except for the fact that she is a woman. The men who live in Bachelor Tower have created a lifestyle they have no intention of changing. They not only believe in the "Ole Boys Club," they have every intention of keeping it that way. They could care less what happens as a casualty of war they have created with Penny and her infamous sister Kylie.

I completely devoured this story. I could not put it down as I was dying to know what would happen next. I love the world Ruth Cardello has created and never wanted to leave. I certainly hope to hear more from these characters in the future.

Insatiable Bachelor is the first book in the Bachelor Tower Series, and I am loving it so far. The idea of a lush apartment complex only meant for highly successful/rich men? This place is insane and super intriguing. I can't wait to read more from the series.

Dalton is your classic playboy who has clearly put up the biggest wall of defense you can imagine. All he cares about is his business being successful and the luxuries the Bachelor Tower can provide. Until Penny shows up in the lobby. Watching the change he goes through as Penny starts to get under his skin was wonderful. He sees there are more things to life than material items or status. He learned to love! D'aww! Penny was fun, she's that free spirit girl who doesn't have a lot of direction in her life except to do what makes her happy. All she wants to do is make her sister proud and keep hold of the apartment for her. The slow burn between these two was insane!! Their banter is even better, I laughed quite a bit. They had some real emotional raw moments together where they both learned to look at the world differently and I just couldn't stop reading.

I'm really hoping the next book has a little something to do with Ben and a certain power suite wearing woman..can't wait to read it!

Author Ruth Cardello turns up the heat in this wonderfully entertaining book. As she kicks off a fun new series featuring the occupants of the Bachelor Tower we get to meet some great characters that should give us quite a few fun stories in the future. In this one Dalton and Penny are fantastic characters and I love how their relationship was developed. It's a slow easy build with lots of witty banter and back and forth between them. This made for a very enjoyable read.

Dalton is enjoying his life. Single, successful, and living in the best place in the city. That is until the peace and drama free atmosphere is shattered when his sexy new neighbor Penny moves in next door. Dalton loves women but having one live next door tempting him in ways he doesn't want to be tempted is a problem. Getting her out of Bachelor Tower is his priority. Too bad her calm happy demeanor slowly works it's way under his skin and breaking him down. Will he eventually choose her or his fun loving lifestyle?

I highly recommend this one.

Kiley leases an apartment in the Alpha only bachelor building complete with all the misogynistic residents. But Kiley, a power in her own right, has business in China and has to have her sister, fun loving yoga teacher, and dog walker live there while she's gone so she doesn't lose it. Poor happy go lucky Penny doesn't really know what she's gotten in to. Dalton, confirmed bachelor, doesn't need anybody in life besides his business associates and a warm female body ever now and then, happens to be the guy next door. While the building's residents are hell bent on getting the women out ....
This is an awesome read about two people from the most different lives can learn what love is. I love the characters Ruth has developed in this book. The story grabs from the beginning and held my attention until I finished it. I laughed, I cried, I fell in love with some new characters. I recommend this book! If you don't like a lot of sex talk and the F word I recommend you read the "Look inside" option on Amazon before reading. lol

Insatiable Bachelor is the best slow burn there is! Flirting and sexual tension so high it just fans off the pages! I need me a Dalton! Sexy bachelor who loves his ways. He sees not one thing wrong with living in Bachelor Tower where only men live and women aren't allowed in except for a quick romp. He enjoys working constantly and playing on the weekends. Then enters beautiful Penny to shaken things up a bit. She's sassy, happy go lucky, and possibly the most gullible sounding person ever. Yet she's so smart and may come off gullible, weak, and shy but she has a strong personality and doesn't let anyone get in her way. If they do, she brushes it off. The men of Bachelor Tower concoct some plans to get rid of Penny who is watching the apartment for her sister. The try to break her, she proves she isn't that breakable.

I'm not a fan of slow burns, unless they are done like this! There was no wishy washy feelings, it was a true slow burn. Getting to know each other, flirting, and finally when the sexual tension was so high they had fun. I'm hooked on Ruth Cardello's flawless writing and need more of Penny and Dalton. I can't wait for the next one to get some glimpses at them but also to see how badly Penny's sister puts the men of Bachelor Tower in their place!

Marie's Tempting Reads ARC Review:

I was instantly curious about this book because of the idea of a WHOLE building designed for men. But as its explained I understood it a bit. It was fascinated and when Penny enters the picture, more specifically an apartment in the building, the men of this tower finally get reality smacked in their faces.

This was a sexy, fun, wonderful read that I found entertaining. It felt different but amusing and sparks zip and zap strongly between Dalton and Penny. And soon what starts as a way to try to get rid of her, ends up with him falling for her. Penny I really liked. She is sassy, smart, and doesn't take a lot of bull from the men. And Dalton...oh yes, how the sparks to fly and the sex between them is...JUST WOW! I am looking forward to more books from Ruth Cardello!

I give Insatiable Bachelor A SPLENDID FOUR SHOOTING STARS!

I really liked this story. The concept of the Bachelor Tower apartments, and all the perks to living there, was unique and a lot of fun to read about. Dalton was not only an insatiable bachelor, but he was insufferable too. He was the type of guy that you have a hard time liking at first. His arrogance and elitist attitude made me want to punch him many times. Luckily, as the story progresses, he changes and grows into a new man. Penny was a delight. The exact opposite of Dalton's workaholic, all business demeanor. I loved that she never wavered and continued to get back up every time the men of the building tried to knock her down. I think these two were perfect for each other, because they gave something that the other needed to better themselves. I liked how things evolved slowly between Dalton and Penny. It built the tension up and made things even more passionate when they got together. The supporting characters were wonderful as well, and I can't wait for the next story.

Insatiable Bachelor by Ruth Cardello is the first book in the Bachelor Tower Series. The book is a full length, stand alone, written in a dual POV.
Meet Dalton Croft, he´s a entrepreneur, works hard, plays harder and loves his life just like it is. And that includes to reside in a all-male bachelors building with unlimited access to everything he can think of. He pities couples for their relationships and lives his life to the fullest.
That quickly changes when a woman - what a scandal - moves into his neighbor condo.
Penny Fuller is a free spirit, rooms in yoga pants, is a eternal optimistic bohemian. Nobody wants her to stay and the men are plotting and sheming against her.

Insatiable Bachelor is a great first book in this series. A witty and fun read, the book kept me well entertained. The writing is great, a typical Ruth Cardello, and I connected with the characters.

Written in the first person with dual point of view (bravo Ruth – you did an excellent job!), this is the story of Penny and Dalton. Dalton living in an all-male apartment building and sweet, innocent Penny is laying claim on her sisters’ apartment in the Bachelors Tower until she returns from China. Those living in the apartment building have declared war and try to drive Penny out. While Dalton agrees Penny needs to go, he finds himself helping her. When it backfires, the sparks really begin. I loved this books and can’t wait to read the next on in the series!

So I read this book. It's a brand new series by Ruth Cardello and I am not sure how I feel about it. Oh I know I LOVED IT. I don't know how she does it. I mean her stories are good. But with each of her books they get better and better and Insatiable Bachelor is no different. I don't even know the definition of the word sleep cause with this book I got nothing. Ruth my boss hates you for how tired I was at work. Insatiable Bachelor is going to be one of the few books that I can re-read and never get tired of it.

A different view from Ms Cardello, but.......Dalton and Pennys story wouldn't let me put it down. No spoilers, but wow, Penny is adorable, Dalton is in need of a Penny to show him life, love and what he's missing. Dalton likes to be in charge so is definitely not looking for more than a romp, but Penny is such a curve ball he is intrigued. The whole building complication is something he's already decided isn't his fight but he cannot sit back when things take a turn...... a definite must read, definitely counting down for the next in this amazing new series. Highly recommended.

This is different writing than Ruth usually does but it worked so dang well!!! I don't think I will ever read a book by her that I don't totally love!!Dalton and Penny couldn't be any more different in everything they are. She has the best outlook on life and he has the absolute worst. But somehow they work when theu are together. I love how this book is written!! Made me laugh so many times. I can't wait to read the continuation of this series.

Insatiable Bachelor is Ruth Cardello's newest creation. It is a wonderful beginning to her new series. Dalton and Penny are my new favorite couple. The plot is the most intriguing one that Ruth has come up with, I think she has outdone herself this time. Thank you, Ruth Cardello:)

Four Insatiable and can’t get enough Stars!!
****

An Advanced Reader Copy was graciously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.

Sometimes you can judge a book by its cover. But more times than not, you can’t. A lot of times you judge a person by where you see them and not who they really are. Sometimes a person doesn’t really know who they are until someone or something shows them the possibilities of what they can truly be. And finally, sometimes we don’t even know what we are missing until it is right in front of us, or in most cases, until it is taken away. And that is what we have with Insatiable Bachelor by Ruth Cardello.

Dalton Croft is a man who has “life by the tail” or so he thinks. He’s handsome and he knows it. He’s worked hard to be successful in his business and he’s got the cockiness to prove it. He’s a billionaire and he knows how to spend it. And one of those expenditures is living in the Bachelor Tower where life is handed to you on a silver platter. There’s a way of life in Bachelor Tower that doesn’t include women living there. It doesn’t mean that they are not easy to come by, but Dalton has no need for the interruption to his perfect life that dating can cause. One night with a nameless woman is enough for him. He has no friends, they just complicate your life and make it messy. And family, they just want something from you. It’s better to be solitary and in control than the messiness of people in your life.

Until………

Penny Fuller has lived a simpler life. She’s funny, cute and simply refuses to look at her glass half empty. She has roommates she loves, a father she adores, and a sister who is driven to be the best in the business world…..kind of like Dalton. Penny has never been close to her sister, but secretly would like to be, so when her sister asks a favor of her, Penny is all in.

Bachelor Tower is in for some changes…..namely a new owner who doesn’t necessarily agree with the current atmosphere, so Kylie Fuller is going to take up residence there to help make these changes. However, pending business in China calls, so she asks her sister, Penny, to take her place and hold her apartment in Bachelor Tower by living there for her. Guess who her next door neighbor is?…..Dalton Croft.

Now one would think that Penny is the lamb being lead into the lion’s den, but little do they know that Penny is not the lamb they think she is, but the lioness in lamb’s wool and we all know it’s the lioness that really runs the Pride. Dalton is first drawn to Penny by lust only. Another conquest to make. But it’s her approach to life, and their sexual banter back and forth and her easiness to be around that draws him in, takes hold, and before he knows it, he doesn’t want to let go of her. He’s on her side, fighting the growing crowd of “bachelors” that wants Penny out of Bachelor Tower, he just doesn’t know it yet. And our Penny? She is learning to be strong, to stand her ground and to not settle for anything less than what she deserves. Together they are learning that what you see in a person may not necessarily be who they really are; and that possibly you can be more than who you are with the help of someone else
.
Okay, right about now, I could go into a little Jane Austen and a somewhat comparison to Pride and Prejudice and that whole thing of making assumptions about a person without really getting to know them, minus of course the hot and steamy sex between our main characters, and the subterfuge of a growing crowd of immature and childish bachelors, but having said it, I think that’s all I need to say. And I love Jane Austen (I mean who doesn’t???!!!) so anything that intertwines her principles is okay anytime with me.

So here’s the bottom line. Insatiable Bachelor was a tantalizing read. At first I wasn’t sure it would be “my kind of book.” The chauvinist approach of the men in Bachelor Tower grated on my nerves. I wanted to throw them all down the toilet. But you know what? As Dalton became a more real person and truly started to care for Penny, he started to grow on me and I started to care about him. An author that can take a chauvinistic pig and make him a likable hero is a winner in my eyes. The secondary characters of Kylie and Ben had wit and charm, and by the end of the book I was beginning to wonder about those two as well. Guess I need another book (I think that is coming in Impossible Bachelor) to learn more about them.

Don’t let the beginning sway you from continuing to read. Anytime I get to the point where I can’t put a book down till I get to the end, that is a good read in my opinion and that is what I had with Dalton and Penny and Insatiable Bachelor!

Sizzling!! Dalton is rich, self-centered and feels entitled to everything he has. Penny is easy going, fun loving and very optimistic about life. Dalton & Penny are TOTAL opposites but when they together the sparks fly!!

This story is written from both the hero and heroin's point of view and I think it was the perfect way to tell this story. The banter between Dalton and Penny was fun and enlightening and I loved it!

The Bachelor Tower is a bachelor's Nirvana. Men have their apartments where they can "entertain" their choice of companion for a few hours and go back for more entertainment at the lobby bar. All their needs are met: order food from the in-house service, get their shirts laundered, whatever service you need can be fulfilled. Only bachelors need to apply for an apartment there. When Penny shows up to apartment sit for her sister, the insurrection begins. A woman has been approved to dwell at the Bachelor Tower and some of the bachelors will not accept this. The only problem is the building is now owned by a woman who will change the long-standing concept of bachelors only.

Dalton and Penny cannot help running into each other. They live next to each other while sharing a common wall. Need I point out the building is not soundproof? Without actually thinking about it, Dalton is slowly drawn in to Penny's life and struggle to survive the bachelors' war to have her leave the building. Her apartment keycard is sabotaged, her vehicle is impounded, etc. and so on. This is how the bachelors fight back trying to have her leave of her own accord until they become desperate. How far will they go to get their way?

Funny, amusing, heart wracking, and deliciously titillating, this book will have you glued to its pages. You will be cheering for Penny and Dalton as they try to outsmart the bachelors of the Bachelor Tower.

I am voluntarily reviewing this book. I thank the author for sharing a copy with me.

This is a total and utter brand new series for the amazing Ruth Cardello
This is book one in the series.
Meet the ever handsome Dalton Croft.

Dalton always knew that women are a part of the perk of any bachelor’s lifestyle. Dalton works so hard. So according to him that he deserves to play harder. I get to live the playboy lifestyle. Unfortunately this time I didn’t get on the Forbes List of Rising Entrepreneurs. I’ve witnessed other men go weak at the knees and fail when they get reeled in by a woman and they think that they are in love. Ha ha no way is this happening to me. No to an epic fail. I’m not the type to fall like they have.
I have been an admirer of the late the late, Garry F. Sinclair. Garry made a statement when he designed an apartment building just for men- NO women. A building that us men could get away with not having to deal with women moaning and shouting at them as soon as they woke up or got home from work, not helping out with the chores.

However the Bachelor Apartments went from being all men to having a woman suddenly move in. That’s so wrong we need our independence. Our freedom if you like. This woman however was beautiful, and very distracting. This is something that can’t happen. We need to do something about this.
When Garry Sinclair passes away we find out that the woman who moved in is called Penny Fuller, Sadly for us men that Penny doesn't even care about let alone share his vision.

Can Penny hold her own and stay the entire time or will she cave in to the pressure of being surrounded by men.

Ruth does it again another 5* book

This is an exciting new series by one of my favorite authors. The premise is that there is an apartment complex that has traditionally catered to bachelors and the owner has recently passed away. His niece has taken over ownership and has leased one of the apartments to a woman. Dalton is one of the bachelors who has been living in the apartment building an braced the lifestyle and finds that his new neighbor is the sister of the woman the apartment is rented to. I'm not going to lie, Dalton is a huge jerk for the first half of this book, something the first person perspective made more apparently by getting a view of his interior monologue. Penny is on the opposite spectrum from Dalton, instead of being career focused and driven, she prefers to live her life making the world better and working enough to accommodate that lifestyle. Neither understands what would drive the other to want to be the way they are, but that doesn't stop the instant attraction they have when they meet. Seeing the two work through this helps both of them grow and is at times very comical for the reader. I also enjoyed the subplot relationship between Penny and her sister -- who is much more like Dalton than Penny -- and how they work through similar issues at the same time. I look forward to getting to know more of the bachelors better in future stories and how they adjust to women invading their territory.

Dalton & Penny
This was a great fun read with some really hot chemistry! It was so bloody funny, especially Dalton’s internal monologue when he first meets Penny. The cover is damn hot 🔥🔥🔥. The story itself is a slow burn and there isn’t a huge amount of bedroom action. But it keeps moving at a pace to leave you wanting more 😉.

I love the idea of Bachelor Tower, what a great setting for a story complete with an outrageous bunch of caveman, lol 😆.
Penny is house-minding her sister’s new apartment - which happens to be the first female to take residence in Bachelor Tower. All the cavemen want to kick the women out. Penny is all Zen and won’t be moved. Dalton is her smoking neighbour. Lots of fun as they navigate the situation and find love.

Character descriptions practically non-existent which is a real shame, but the supporting characters are fantastic. The angst isn’t high - THANK goodness - can’t stand it when the drama takes away from a great story.

“Good night, Penny,” I say to the door, but I’m smiling. I turn and catch a guy from down the hall watching me. My smile fades, and I give him a look only another man would understand. It’s the equivalent of pissing on her door to mark this territory as mine—because it is.”

“Her eyes fill with sympathy, which strikes me harder than a blow to the chin. I don’t want her looking at me like that. I’d rather have someone look me square in the eye and tell me to go fuck myself.”
