In the ninth book of this spooky series, Eerie Elementary is having an art show. Sam is working on his project for the show when suddenly the clay he's working with comes ALIVE! Then Sam and his friends start seeing signs of mad scientist Orson Eerie everywhere. First Orson's face mysteriously appears on a painting, then he leads them to a new, secret room in the school. What is Orson up to this time? Is he trying to spread his creepy power outside school grounds yet again? Sam and his friends need to act FAST!
This one wasn't as good as the first 8, it lacked the spookiness and thrills the other books had. With the others, even though they're targeted towards children, they still had this creepy vibe, this one wasn't creepy at all, which sucked. I'm hoping book 10 is better than this. - R.C.
River: I rated it five because it’s creepy and creepy is kinda my thing. Cedar: I rated it a four because I really liked when they use the paint supplies for swords and shields. Mama: I rate it a five because the kids were very creative in fighting Orson Eerie.
{My thoughts} – Orson Eerie is most certainly up to no good once again. In this all new book, he decides to attack Sam, Antonio and Luycy by turning art supplies and art projects loose on them. It’s no wonder these three kids are always thinking something bad is going to happen when the name Orson Eerie is thought about.
Orson Eerie has figured out that he can still reach his evil powers outside of the school and that the hall monitors won’t be able to stop him off of school grounds. He intentionally leads the children to his hidden art studio which in turn gets his painting auctioned off during the art show. The children decide that they have to find a way to stop that painting from leaving the school, so they decide to brainstorm and come up with a way to buy the painting themselves.
I really enjoy this series. It’s got a nice cozy feel to it and it isn’t too scary. I can’t wait until I am able to get my littles one’s to sit still for longer books, because these are definitely going to be added to our reading list at that point!
This is a must have series for any child’s library. It is absolutely incredible! It has a way of pulling the reader in and keeping there until the very last page, and then makes them want more! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series!
Excellent for middle elementary readers, this transitional chapter book is a 90-page supernatural fantasy about an elementary school that is haunted by its creator. The vocabulary and sentence structures are suitable for this age group, and elementary-aged readers are likely to relate to some of the typical school challenges faced by the characters. A low fantasy, this story takes place in the real world, but the trio of friends know that their school is being haunted by an evil ghost and have been tasked with defeating it. The book is mildly scary with plenty of suspenseful scenes to keep the reader hooked, and the black and white images of the supernatural events and monsters add to the spooky vibes.
I am loving the growth of these characters - and the illustrations! Friends working together, overcoming obstacles, creative problem solving. Just so well done. Ms Winter plans an art auction to help fund new art supplies - Sam can barely finish his clay T Rex on time. After class, Sam is dragged up stairs to a wall - with bricks easily moved. He discovers a secret room - and Orson Eerie's secret self portrait. Realizing Orson is using the art show to gain power outside of the school, they must come up with $100 to purchase the portrait at the art show. Will they succeed?
3.5.... Earlier books in the series are better. This one felt like it was trying too hard to be silly and childish. Though they target audience is children, the series always had that creepiness and adventure feel too it. This one fell flat. Hope the finally ends it well!
The students were so engaged and always asked to read it. They absolutely loved it. We didn't realize it was book 9 in the series. Right after we finished it we found book 1 in the library.
I think it is good because there is an evil principal and 3 kids are solving the mystery and I love mysteries... Warning- it has some scary parts! Jay age 7
