Lilith: Dark Feminine Archetype

Rate this book
This anthology brings together essays, rituals, and unique artwork dedicated to the Queen of the Night and the Dark Goddess of the Qliphoth. Denied and rejected, worshipped and venerated, Lilith has been a part of the Western culture for ages. Viewed both as a beautiful seductress and a ruthless demon, she is the Serpent in the Garden of Eden, the first woman, and the primary initiatrix into the mysteries of the dark side of the Qabalistic Tree of Life. Her rites are the works of love and pain, sex and transgression, transcendence and immanence, for she exists at the roots of all desire of all humans past, present, and future. This archetype has never been fully grasped in its profundity and is constantly unfolding, challenging us to recognize our fears and passions and to transform them into tools of power.
In this book you will find personal accounts of practitioners who ventured into the sacred and unholy garden of the Dark Queen of Sitra Ahra and returned transformed and empowered by her gnosis. Spells and invocations, dream magic and guided meditations, visions and stories of intimate encounters with Lilith - all this is contained in this unique anthology, written from the perspective of the Left Hand Path and the Draconian Tradition.
Compiled and edited by Asenath Mason, the book contains articles and contributions from Ahohlan Castarté, Alisa Jones, Bill Duvendack, Edgar Kerval, Kai'Nathera, Katie Anderson, Leonard Dewar, Lucien von Wolfe, Mike King, Martha Gray, Nemo.V, and Selene-Lilith.

This book was ok, but with a title of ‘Lilith dark feminine archetype’ I expected a more in depth analysis of the dark feminine archetypes, the darker aspects of the female psyche, and a deeper look into how these feminine ideals and deities have been maligned and demonized by the patriarchal religions. I thought this would be a book about the history of Lilith and portray her differently- not as a demon but as the much needed but maligned darker aspect of the feminine archetype- the warrior and rage compared to the traditionally accepted forgiving/mother figure.
This was not the case. Instead, this book was an anthology of personal essays relaying how the temple of ascending flame/ satanists see and worship Lilith as a demon goddess. Some outright saying how terrible she was, bordering evil, but they worship her in the same vein as Lucifer. If this is your thing then cool, but not what I was looking for. The few essays I enjoyed I wasn’t surprised to find that they were written by women, but some of the essays written by men were either incredibly crude or outright saying this Lilith deity they worship is so terrible that she doesn’t even have higher thought processes- just a terrible instinct to destroy. What? But you worship this deity? I’d rather read about Lilith the archetype not the demon, thanks.

Try not reading the names at the beginning of the essays; you will still be able to point out most of the male authors by the amount of time they spend humble-bragging or talking about themselves. I still reccomend the book because of the essays written by women (and the essays written by the men that behave like normal people). The format is similar to "Lilith - Goddess Of Sitra Ahra", but it's slightly more focused on the practical side of everything. If you liked one of these two books, you'll like the other one as well. I'm grateful for the knowledge that these clearly very well-informed writers have shared.

this book mentions more details on the rituals that connect you with Lilith. It also mentions different perspectives upon her from all around the world, who adored her, who feared her and the historical/ religious reasons behind that.

Thoroughly enjoyed this, and am looking forward to practising the rituals and exploring deeper into the mysteries of this amazing goddess. I've been curious about the Temple of Ascending Flame and their materials for a while and this book showed that they indeed do fantastic work within left-hand path magick and spirituality. Admittedly, some entries in this anthology were better than others, and I didn't agree with every interpretation of Lilith presented here. But that's not necessarily a bad thing, and I found great nuggets of wisdom within every chapter to carry with me into my magickal work. I'd say this is very important reading for anyone wanting to work more with Lilith and delve into her archetype a little deeper.

This has been the least accessible text on Lilith that I've read so far. The author provides many ceremonial rituals, but with few modifications or substitutions offered for those who need.

The text felt a bit prescriptive and that there is only one right way to perceive or work with Lilith - which is of course incorrect. :)

There were some great text references as we explored the lore and origin of Lilith, so I will be hanging onto this book for those reasons.

Not a great but good anthology on Lilith and the dark side of the Divine, it gets a bit repetitive though. Lilith Queen of Tehiru Space was really enjoyable.

Muy útil, pero me esperaba más cosas. Es un libro muy completo pero me molestaba un poco tantos hombres en lo personal.
