Ann Marie ("Annie") Frohoff grew up in sunny Southern California. As a teen and young adult she spent her time frequenting and living in nearly every beachside city up and down the coast. She settled in Hollywood at 19 working in film and TV. Soon her itch to keep moving took over again, taking her to Hawaii for a time and then back to LA.
She’s now settled in the South Bay area of Los Angeles with her family. Her wanderlust and propensity to live life out loud has brought her many life experiences she shares through her character(s).
Her Heavy Influence Series is out now! Available in paperback & everywhere eBooks are sold: SKID OUT (A Prequel Novella), FIRST KISS (#1), FEVER PITCH (A Novella #1.5), BROKEN NOTES (#2), HIGHER OCTAVE (A Novella #2.5) and LOVE AMPLIFIED (#3) ~ Now a new spin-off novel will be coming in 2020 - RHYTHM.
The series is a story of young, reckless love between a rising rock star and his younger muse, spanning 10 years of their tumultuous and passionate relationship. An original soundtrack has been written and recorded for this series, of which the lyrics appear in the pages of the books. (Alternative Rock Genre).
Annie has now delved into the supernatural fantasy world, drawing inspiration from song lyrics, friends and travel; building realms of vastly complex characters and plot lines; weaving history, fantasy and heavy doses of romance together. You will be kept turning the pages of “The Zodiac Wars" and “Precious Metal: The Prince and the Gypsy” book series in the future. Both series of books are currently in development.
4* Read overall - some of the books in the series would be less but overall 4*.
I love rock star books and I really enjoyed this one.
This one starts when the h is 14 and H is 17. They connect, he is an up and coming rock star - the first book sets the scene for their relationship - nothing untoward happens as she is only 14 - so there is a lot of teenage angst and girly talk - makes you feel 14 all over again! The books progress through the years and at times you wonder if they should give in. First love is strong but sometimes love is not enough. The H was no angel, my did he make the usual rockstar mistakes but through it all you never doubted his love for the h. They both wanted their dreams but wanting to pursue them meant they just couldn't work no matter how they tried. The final book - they eventually get their HEA but the author does not make it easy - where would the fun be in that!? The only downside to me was the epilogue - I wanted more. I had been with these characters through 6 books (including the novellas) and felt they needed more. I note there is another novella about a side character, so maybe we will get a glimpse in that?
FTC DISCLAIMER: I RECEIVED AN E-ARC FROM THE PUBLISHER THROUGH NOVEL PUBLICITY. I VOLUNTARILY OFFER MY HONEST REVIEW OF THE BOOK, THOUGH IT IS NOT EXPECTED OF ME! RECEIPT OF THIS BOOK IN THIS MANNER DOES NOT AFFECT MY OPINION OF THE BOOK OR THE CONTENT OF MY REVIEW!
Normally, I really enjoy rockstar romances, but this one just rubbed me the wrong way from the start. I hated the serial format of it, couldn't connect with the characters due to their angsty natures, and felt vaguely disgusted by some of the events that happened in the story. The writing wasn't that engaging, so I really had to struggle to finish it, in fact wound up reading another book in the middle of it. I think I'll be avoiding the author's work in the future.
this is the first time I've read this author and I loved these 6 stories, I devoured them back to back. I highly reccomend this box set! I volunteered to read a copy of this book
Let's break this down into more digestible pieces....
SKID OUT - #0.5 - A pretty good start to the series...we get to know Aly and Jake from their own points of view as well as each others, while catching a glimpse of what might be around the corner. Think girl/guy next door, life long friendship taking a turn for something more...and some rock n roll.
FIRST KISS - #1 - So, much more growing up happens in this first full length book of the series. From young love to beyond full on jealousy, unrequited crushes to misconstrued actions, broken hearts to broken faces, and yet the spark ignited still lingers. Even when they've both hit rock bottom in their own ways, even when everyone else is against them, scheming, lying, and what not...love still remains. But is it worth it?
FEVER PITCH - #1.5 - So, Aly and Jake have reunited (sorta) with no awkwardness (kinda) and a happily-ever-after looming on the horizon (ugh...rain check?). This story is full on Aly's point of view and we can see how she's thought things out, but is letting love truly be blind. Not sure about Jake at this point; seems to have really fallen into the trappings of rockstardom, despite his moments of sweetness. Definitely a wait and see game, no matter who you're rooting for...
BROKEN NOTES - #2 - Aly and Jake have done a lot of growing up this time around as time marches forward waiting for no man or woman, but some things never change, like this caustic thing their relationship has turned into. Way too much drama even for rock stars...though my heart did stumble over Dump's story arc.
HIGHER OCTAVE - #2.5 - So, we've flashed forward...Jake is clean again, going solo, interested somewhat in a woman, but still determined to win Aly back. Aly is moving forward with Nathan, graduating college, and still tempted by Jake but seemingly not as much as he might be. Past sh*t is about to hit the fan and the mysterious Mr Todd makes an appearance. Think the lady from Devil Wears Prada with possible mob connections...
LOVE AMPLIFIED - #3 - The drama rolls on with a surprise thanks Sienna, a lady friend of interest for Jake, a potential marriage to someone other than Jake for Aly...and an ending tied up with them all in the tangle. It's been quite a ride and the final scenes leave us with just as much feedback as the rest of the rocking and rolling tale...
Overall, it was a roller coaster ride that didn't let a moment slip by as we followed Jake and Aly from pubescent meetings to full on affairs. Seriously, it's pretty much EIGHT YEARS covered in six books, leaving you no doubt as to what these two were or weren't up to. Though I've discovered I'm only a binge reader in certain cases (not this one, eek!), it doesn't mean you aren't,....or that you wouldn't actually put a virtual bookmark in it to sample other worlds in between...and so, I say if you're a fan of Young Adult, New Adult, or just blame rock star romance, CHECK OUT THE HEAVY INFLUENCE SERIES for your next pick!
A six book saga of a rock star and his love for his underage girl friend. They were next door neighbors and best friends until they realized they felt more. But she was just starting high school and his band was making it into the music scene.
She as told to stay away from him but could not despite his reputation. The ups and downs they face as they keep breaking up but then find their way to be together.
Will they continue this cycle or ill they eventually find away to make peace with their lifestyles togerher or apart? A journey in a relationship with the bad and good.
4.5 stars Im a big fan of rocker stories and although I have never read anything by this author before the blurb intrigued me!
I really liked jake snd alyssa, neighbors as well as friends for a long time, things started to get a little heavy between them! In a sense Alyssa was stepping out of her comfort zone and embracing her feelings but how will that work, shes a junior, hes a senior and has his own band!
It was an easy read though long due to being a collection but i really liked the characters and the way they interacted! I did worry about Alyssa, considering her age and her feelings.... i also kept thinking something will happen, i had a gut feeling...oh boy throw in school and drama galore, i honestly had no idea the direction this story would go!
The constant turmoil had me hooked, the backwards and forwards of feelings and what’s going to happen made my head spin! I just wanted a HEA so badly and i wasn’t sure if it would get there! So much drama, but in the end i had a huge smile on my face!! These characters will live in my heart forever! Be prepared for the ride of your life!!
It took me 3 days to read this very long series which I think was over 900 pages. It started out very teen drama angsty which for someone in their 50's was too much at times. I almost stopped reading it a few times, but I do a good rocker romance so I persevered. I wanted to hit the H, Jake, over his head so many times along the way for his self centered behavior & the h, Aly, was not much better. Anything the could go wrong between them did. But a lot went right as well, it seemed their love could not be denied. I did enjoy reading this series which spanned 8 or more years of Jake & Aly's lives. I couldn't give up on seeing how it all turned. There were many interesting supporting characters to enjoy, it was a good story if not a bit frustrating here & there. Considering the length of the series, I would have liked to see a longer epilogue but it ended in a satisfying way. So, 4 stars & a recommendation as long as you enjoy some drama!
I received a copy of this book free, in exchange for my honest review.
I was a little surprised how much I enjoyed this series. It was a rollercoaster of emotions at every turn, which kept my hooked. There were plenty of tense moments that had me pacing while I read, at least in the first book. I won't give you any spoilers tho. I'm glad I signed up to read it.
These books are amazing! They are well written and keep you wanting more. If you have never read books by Ann I suggest that you do! You will not be disappointed.
This was a really good read that makes you feel all of the feels. It pulled me in from the beginning, and I'm glad that I got to read it as one book instead of multiple.
I just finished the heavy influence series. IT was like iT took me ages to finish this one. As much as i liked Jake and Alyssa in the beginning, a couple of times i had to realy convince myself to keep on Reading. To begin with the age of the characters in the first part realy bothered me. Aly was only 14, just a kid.
As Aly turns 18 and Goes to London, i was happy that the story did go on. I thought they finally had their story together now, maybe with Some little problems on the road. IT was a dissapointment for me that after this the story seemed to start all over again. Again a whole load of problems and a break up. IT lost reality for me from then on. In the last part i hoped to read my ‘happy ending’, but the happy ever after seemed to never have came. For Jake and Jackson everything seemed to be okay. For Aly and Jake it’s like i missed a part. I liked to read About the wedding, because the story had gone on and on about iT, but this never came. Did Jake and Aly had kids of their own afterall?
Maybe if someone isn’t into the romantic stuff so much as i am, they won’t miss this in the story, but i did.

In the beginning, I was dragging myself thru the first part due to the young love storyline and it never was my sort of genre. But I would say you should still read it as it sets the stage for Jake's and Alyssa's story.
In many ways, you see Alyssa slowly grow up as the story progresses. Unfortunately for Jake, less so. But the question that kept popping into my head was definitely "Is love enough". The story spans about 8 years with skips in between (if not it will definitely be too long).
From young love to forever love? I say it is a good read even with the draggy-ness at the beginning.
I was lucky enough to get the complete series fir an honest review. I really enjoyed this Aly & Jakes story, I thought it was great how they went from teenagers to adulthood, I respect Aly’s strong decisions but I did want the slap her silly for tooing & froing so much hence the 4 stars as it got a little annoying. Jake! Wow! He did make some bad decisions!! I’d love to read more about the other characters, Nadine, Grace, Marshall...hopefully those books will follow!
I didn't have very many expectations going into this book but still there was not much that I liked about it. I gave the book a fair chance but I could not finish it. The writing style is just not for me and I didn't find any of the characters to be likable.
