The Medics

Rate this book
Leslie is stubborn and independent, born and raised in sunny California by a single mother. She’s the proud owner of Artfully Delectable, one of the trendiest bakeries in town. Tragedy soon shakes up her seemingly perfect world and she drowns herself in what she does best, baking. Just when she’s getting good at hiding from her new reality, her best friend forces her to enjoy a night out on the town. They end up at an overcrowded, dimly lit bar that reeks of sweat- not exactly what she wanted to do after a long day at work.
She hears him before she sees him. His voice is pained and demands her attention. He is tall, well over six foot, and the stage lights highlight the edges of his well defined physique. He is hot and he knows it. Chris is the lead singer of an up and coming band, The Medics. He’s cocky, temperamental, and used to getting what he wants. Soon, Chris and Leslie will be forced together where personalities will collide and friendships will be tested. Can she survive the storm Chris has brought into her life?

Complicated and brooding bad boy rocker? Stubborn and independent woman? Um, yes please!!!! This book had all the right elements of a romance story full of angst, heat and a constant need to ask oneself, “WTF?!?” This is definitely not your typical romance. I absolutely love it when a story takes an unexpected turn. Too often I read a book already knowing where the story will lead. Which in my opinion becomes boring and typical. Not this one! The constant push and pull of the characters had me screaming at my kindle in frustration at some points only to lead to me furiously swiping to get to the next page as my eyes would well up with tears as the story unfolded. I totally found myself lost in the story with Chris and Leslie. I love that she wouldn’t compromise who she was and that she stayed true to herself even when she didn’t want to. Chris however....what can I say? Who doesn’t love a hot guy that you love to hate and absolutely hate to love? Reminds me of my own husband 😂 hahaha. He’s endearing and mysterious. I hope the sequel includes some chapters from his perspective as this book is told from Leslie’s POV. I’d also like to know Chris’ backstory of who he was before he became famous. I know, I know, I’m way too invested in these characters. I can’t help it. When a story is that good, it makes me want to know the characters on a personal level. The ending is a MAJOR cliffhanger but is so worth the read!!!! I can’t wait for the sequel!!!!!

YAS! Alleluia! I’ve finally found the perfect badboy/rockstar romance!
The Medics took me on a wild, emotional roller coaster that left me begging for more. The tug and pull of independent, stubborn Leslie and that arrogant jerk Chris was the perfect combination of a hot romance full of angst.

From the moment I started to read The Medics, I couldn't put the book down! I was hooked, wanting to know what will happen next! I finished this book in 2 days and usually it takes me longer to finish a good book because life just gets in the way, LOL! I loved how it felt like I could see everything happen in the way the story was told. The ending ........ was a huge surprise for me! I was left hanging and wanting so much more! Haven't read a book like this in so long and I love everything about it!

I am definitely in the minority here but I didn't find much to like about this book. The "Youngest Neurosurgeon" ever (wtf?) decides to follow his other dream of being a rock star with his band The Medics - cute. Leslie had me confused most of the book - the I hate him/love/lust him for me was totally wasted on the prick that was Chris. I usually love bad boys, arrogant assholes with huge ego's among other things, but I despised this guy, oh and yeah it ended on cliff hanger, with no warning of it being a "book one". Have no idea what I was thinking when I got this one, but I will be aware enough not to go back in for seconds.

So GOOD! I just loved this book! It was a very easy read. The main character goes through such an emotional roller coaster, that with each chapter I read, I couldn't wait to read what would happen next. I really couldn't put it down! Some parts are a bit steamy, if that's what you're looking for, but not so much that it takes over. The ending is a bit abrupt, but it made me happy to know there is a sequel on the way. This romantic-drama is a must read!

I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN!! I think this is one of those I’ll actually go back and read and I’m not the type to read books multiple times. The main man was just the right amount of asshole and the main character, Leslie, definitely knows how to hold her own. No damsel in distresses here. Both strong characters. Don’t even get me started on the ending of this book!! There better be a damn sequel, that’s all I’m saying 🖤
