Or at least they didn’t in Dallas Summer’s world – until a nasty encounter in Central Park shatters that notion forever. Dallas finds his life flipped upside down when a sexy stranger knocks on his door.
Roman’s got a big problem. To become the Alpha of the Manhattan pack, he will need an heir. When he meets Dallas in a chance encounter, an accident causes his guilt to drive him to protect the new wolf at all costs. Little does Roman know the new wolf is an Omega; a rare wolf that could change the fate of the Alpha to be.
Can Roman win the Omega over in time to fulfill his destiny, or will Dallas change him forever?
Hot, explicit scenes abound in this steamy 50,000-word gay wolf-shifter paranormal mpreg romance – adults only!
At times I liked where the story was going and was hopeful for where it could have gone. Unfortunately, this story seemed heavily detailed in some areas (cesarean, changing into wolf, etc) but lacked in character development and left some gaping holes in the world development as well.
I'm confused. Other werewolf books by this writer, I'm almost certain, held to another were alpha/omega dynamic and physiology. How can Dallas, of part Taiwanese descent, insofar as we know and his history dictates, a hundred percent human, turn into an omega the same time he transitions into werewolf? Apologies, but while I normally enjoy Walker's books, this one had me backtracking, rereading, then giving up altogether since the plot didn't hold my interest, and the details and new developments getting thrown in too bizarre to be credible. I'm very glad I didn't buy this one - it's as though the plot well ran dry and this is an experiment or a trial to test ideas that may or may not work. Sadly, this one fell way short of Preston Walker's usual mark and style. Also, unless the characters are used to incorporate made up words or use peculiarities with language, I cringe and am "most uncomfortable" to see misused superlatives like "uncomfortableness.". Just - you know?
I thought this was an excellent read. So far, I have loved each book by Preston Walker. I am a big fan of the mpreg romance and of course, Mr. Walker with his artistic license has his own stamp on this genre. I love the way he writes, his sentence structure, his world usage and his imagination in his world building. There were some nagging questions I had: why did Roman bite Dallas? It was not explained clearly enough to me. Why were the east coast wolves way more aggressive and primitive than the west coast wolves? Dallas's character seemed to expand and grow off the page, embracing his omega that the west coast wolves clearly benefited. Other than these questions, I thought the book was excellent and an entertaining read. It is possible I read this too fast, eager for another read by my 'fav-o-rite' author. I would recommend this to anyone wanting an entertaining read. I rounded it up one star from the 4 i originally rated because he is my favorite author!!!
A great read that left me smiling at the end, a journey that takes you through every emotion. Dallas suffers a horrific attack one night and thankfully passes out, coming round the next morning he can't understand that physically he appears fine with no obvious injuries. Unable to grasp the situation he attempts to rationalise what happened as a bang to the head and concussion. Feeling unwell later that day he definitely is not up to the mad man who turns up claiming he is now a werewolf. Roman wakes in the park knowing deep down that his wolf has taken over his senses and something bad has happened. Realising he has attacked a human he needs to find them and offer help, getting a door slammed in his face was not expected. Their journey is one of self discovery for both with tears, laughter and terror thrown in. Another brilliant read by Preston that will keep you wanting more.
Roman is a werewolf who is angry and on the prowl. Seeing a man at the park, he attacks. Dallas is taking a walk to clear his head after a long night at work. The attack takes him by surprise. being ripped apart and dragged to some bushes, he finally passes out. Waking up he finds nothing, no injuries, only his destroyed clothes and some blood. The consequences of this act starts the book off with a "roaring" start. The reader is drawn down a violent path of bloodshed, murder, mangled bodies of humans and cats, battles for an alpha position, discovering being an omega, grief, running away, Mpreg, hot sex, discovering your true self, choices to be made, abandonment, emotional and physical scars and love. Great HEA, but before the reader gets there, you will go on a journey with the MCs that keep you turning pages to see what happens next.
What a great read. The book takes you on a journey of emotions and surprises that keeps you focused on the main characters of the book. Dallas is kind and sweet and after a horrible attack in the park by a big 'dog' knows something is wrong. Roman's wolf has gone nuts by attacking and now he must try and fix it. The book is well written and follows Dallas as he is forced to come to terms with what happened to him and how to coexist with his new wolf. Roman must teach him to survive, to do what he must to prove himself. Dallas just wants to go back home. Amazing writing with such discriptions and feelings that it brings you in and you feel the struggle of both Roman and Dallas as they fall in love and want so much to have a future together. The book also bring a end that bring the book full circle. I will be reading more books by this author.
This was a good story. Some sexy scenes and a nice HEA. Dallas and Roman are a wonderful pair. I would rather believe Roman's wolf recognized the Omega in Dallas and that was why he attacked him, but it would seem that Roman was just mad and Dallas was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Even so their relationship had sparks. Not all things were clear though, especially what was going on with the Manhattan pack. I also found some scenes were a bit jagged. Timing was off sometimes. For example their first time together was also their first kiss and nothing was set up before it happened. Just didn't seem natural. My favorite part, as usual, was the baby.
Ahh, what a wonderful feeling, celebrating love! I really enjoyed this book! There is so much to it, it's not just a romance. There are lessons about life to learn in this book, if you are open to it.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who is supportive of M/M relationships. I only wish m-preg was a reality.
This is an excellent werewolf tale, revealing the duality of the wolf, a wild ferocious killer and a loving nurturing mate, as well as providing an outstanding illustration of the chaotic, fearful, emotional and physical reality a turned human would experience.
I do believe this may be the best werewolf story I have ever read!
This book is about a ordinary guy getting bit by a werewolf and how it changed his life .
I had a great time reading this book from beginning to the end this is one of the more lighter shifter books . Don't get me wrong it's a great story and I really enjoyed this there was some pretty dark moments like when the omega first turned . Than when the omega tried to escape from his new pack and got caught and as a punishment had to fight the other wolf to the death with little hope of winning man that had me on the edge of me seat . The ending was just perfect awesome book .
I’m usually all over omega stories but this one felt too rushed, stilted, and poorly thought out. The whole bitten vs born thing would have been an awesome twist but Dallas’s and Roman’s relationship seemed hurried and shallow with very little being said about his bitten status after the initial “trial”. They don’t really talk, there’s no building up of their relationship outside of “training” that’s only briefly described and glossed over. I finished it but just barely.
First let me say the interaction between the heroes was super sweet and had me smiling through the whole story. Second, my only complaint very well may not be the authors fault. It was either editing of the ARC or just my brain not keeping up, but pretty often I would lose track of who's perspective I was reading. A pretty minor complaint as context kept me from staying confused for long. Third thing, babies! Babies make everything better.
This could have been more than just an ok read but there were some things which really annoyed me
First and most of all: I love dual POVs, but if they change from one sentence to the next without a sign and back again it is just confusing Second, Dallas is an Omega and knows what Roman feels and still he let take Roman all the risks and doesn't come at least one step forward. It was disappointing
this was an interesting read. it was good.. it was sexy and it was so much fun.. however i did have a couple areas i was a bit confused on only because it wasn't explained all the way but overall i really really enjoyed it and i love preston's writing and this story was amazing. im glad i got to read it
MM. Alpha/ Omega. Shifters. Dallas is bitten by Roman and forced to leave the life he knows. Dallas must prepare to fight for his very life to be able to be free from this violent group of shifters. Roman does not communicate well with Dallas, and Dallas panics. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
I was happy to be able to read a book about a bitten werewolf again . They are few and far between . That it wasn't love at first bite made it even better . Their struggles made the story more interesting and intense .
Never did warm up to Roman. He didn’t totally redeem himself. He had a narcistic streak. Dallas was the stronger of the two, but he had some fickle moments. Their relationship development was weak and only based on their wolves bonding and not their human halves.
If going are a fan of Alpha/Omega tales this book is a good choice. It is a poignant story that alters some before used were lore. This is a fresh take on the genre but doesn't change it so much as to make it unrecognized just expanded.
Smart, confident and capable. An omega who can stand up and support his child and himself. He's not your usual Omega; Small, weak, timid, but beautiful who needs a protector!
Nice to see some change to this genre. Brings some of the past folklore into todays concept. It allows us through Preston to accept the difference and enjoy. Thank you.
I personally did not like this book. For the genre I thought it was too violent and barbaric. It was difficult to finish. The ending was more of what I like.
I absolutely adored this book. The characters were passionate about each other after awhile. They over came the obstacles and persevered. Extremely exciting. I recommend it highly.
